1  Re: Common Ground round 5 GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by gozer on: April 18, 2017 07:30:08 AM
Yay! I get to start the gallery with an amazing package from MissingWillow!!! Prepare to be in awe.  Wink
First, she sent me this adorable little house diorama with ceramic houses she made herself. It's absolutely adorable and looks so sweet on my corner shelf.

Next up, we are both Ghostbusters fans. Not sure how she ever guessed I loved Ghostbusters? LOL! I have three cats named after them (Gozer, Venkman, and Egon). My favorite Ghostbuster is Venkman and I have a bookshelf in my entryway dedicated to him. MissingWillow sent me an amazing tin with a scene from Ghostbusters in it. The chandelier is amazing and hangs down. This sits front and center so you can see it when you first walk in now.  Grin
 Here's a close up...

and here is how great it fits in with the shelf! It's like it was made for it!

We also both love bees. They are my newest obsession. She sent me some AMAZING bee fabric. I love the real looking bees, not the cartoony ones so much. This is absolutely perfect. I am deciding between two patterns on what to make with this.

and last but not least. The item we agreed to swap months ago. I asked her for a Red Riding Hood shrine and boy did she deliver! My living room is decorated in a RRH theme. I LOVE this. It fits so well with my room. Again, a close up and then the shelf it is now living on.  I absolutely LOVE this shrine. It is so perfect. I adore everything about it, down to the little flowers and ladybugs!

Thank you so much MissingWillow! You sent me an incredible package and set the bar high for the rest of the swap!  Grin Grin

Project Name: Sloth Scrap Fabric Art
Project Link: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=451865.0
Brief Description: I am lazy. There, I said it. I use the Games to keep me motivated because if I didnt have the Games I would be laying on my couch watching TV, snuggling my kitties, and eating chips every night and get nothing accomplished. I am a sloth and I was able to motivate myself to draw and sew one.
Quote: I never run with scissors. Those last two words were unnecessary.

Prompt:  April Quote 4 Past or FUTURE

Bonus Points: Brain Power
Project Name: Bailey Surgery Jar
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: My sisters dog, Bailey, needs an operation on her knee. She is okay right now but as she gets older it will be a problem. We, as a family, came together to help her with the bill. I made a jar and we throw our loose change and extra money in it and add to it on her birthday and holidays. It has her dogs name on the front and dog silhouettes on the side. It was my first time using my Silhouette to cut vinyl. I placed it on and alcohol inked around it.

Project Name: Cupcakery Heidi Fold Over Wristlet
Project Link: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=452083.0
Brief Description: This year I had some crafting goals. Sewing with vinyl was one of them and this was my first foray into the material. I got a walking foot and glued it down and did everything I was told and it worked out pretty well I think. I put this under change because when I was married I called my ex Cupcake and got this fabric as a nod to him. I dont want to carry anything around that says Cupcake now but I figured this would be the perfect fabric for this purse (and a good way to use up my stash). The change was finding my happiness. This is going to be up for grabs in my STS store for the Fall rounds.
Quote: And they lived happily ever after. Separately.

3  Cupcakery Fold Over Clutch in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by gozer on: April 07, 2017 01:02:00 PM
I found the free pattern by Swoon called the Heidi Fold over clutch and decided I would give it a whirl as my first time sewing vinyl. I used all stash fabric except for the vinyl and was so excited to find the dark reddish vinyl that worked so well with the fabric I had on hand.

The vinyl was softer than I thought and was pretty easy to work with. I used a walking foot with it, again a first. I am glad I tried something new as this opens up a whole new crop of bags to sew now. Wink  I know I still need work with the new material but overall it was fun.
The pattern was pretty basic and straight forward. I have the hardware to make one more. This one is going to go into my STS store in the Fall.
The purse unfolds via a magnetic clasp. The top has a zipper so you can store larger items.

It also has a handy zipper on the back for quicker access to smaller items.

In the end I really liked this design. The wristlet also unhooks to use it as a clutch. This was the larger version on the pattern.
Thanks for checking it out! Grin Grin Grin

5  Steampunk and Oval Girl ATCs in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by gozer on: March 17, 2017 05:47:06 AM

Hey there! It's been a long time since I made ATCs and posted them up. Life got really busy and I started sewing more instead of drawing.
I offered up two custom ATC's as prizes in the Games so I made these two. The themes were Steampunk and Oval frames. I ended up really enjoying drawing again. I have plans to make a couple more when time allows.
These were done with Copic markers, a white gel pen, and Bristol board.

Thanks so much for checking them out. I haven't been on this board in a while and the art is incredible. I need to come back and comment when I get off work. Lots of inspiration!

6  Fabric Animals Scrappy 4x6 Art in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by gozer on: March 16, 2017 12:25:22 PM
I made one like this for the 4x6 art swap and enjoyed the process so much I decided to make a couple more. Here are all of them together.

I remade the original one I made for the swap and I think I like this one a little more. The foxes nose looks a little better and less cat like than the original.

My cats are my babies so I had to make one but I think this one looks more like a rainbow cat than my intentions. Still learning how to do this type of coloring.

Bunnies are just naturally adorable. This makes me miss my old buddy Bunicula.

Mice are cute too. Here is a little one with a flower.

and last but not least, a sloth. Just because.

Overall I think the fox is my favorite still. I wish I would have darkened up the other some more but maybe next round. I plan on offering these up in my Fall STS store.
Here is the final one. My Niece saw these and requested an elephant. her b-day is in 3 days so I whipped this one up. Bunny1kenobi suggested turning his mouth up a bit after I said he looked sad. I think I will do that.  Wink

After reading some comments I realized I forgot to say how I did these. I drew them out with Sharpie on off white fabric. Then colored them in with Inktense pencils and used a paint brush to water that down and set it in. Then I ironed them to heat set it. The background blue is the same off white fabric that I painted army green, magenta, royal blue, and teal. Then I put a coat of dark blue glitter paint over it. I used floss to tack the font and drawing down after I cut them out and then went over the edges with some decorative stitches on my machine. I love decorative stitches.  Tongue I wanted a kind of shabby, scrappy look so I left some threads untrimmed and set them slightly astray.
Here are some in progress shots of when I was drawing them.

Thanks for checking them out!  Kiss

Okay, found a second to post up! Whew!
I received from gala_apples and she sent me a fantastic package.
First up is an awesome hoop from a book series I read called Love and Decay. It's a post apocalypse type serial book that I have been reading for years and love. Their are 5 brothers and they are all named after guitarist so this hoop works out perfectly! Then there is the hilarious "Erotic Friend Fiction" notebook. It fits right in my purse. I have a slight notebook obsession so this one really fit the bill.

Then she sent me this amazing Raven Boys shirt. It's a quote from the book. AMAZING book. Loved it even if the ending was a little "eh", the journey more than made up for it. Love the shirt. It's a nice vibrant color for Spring and the stenciling is so crisp and clean. I will be wearing it on St. Patricks Day.  Grin Sorry for the pic. It is thrown over the back of a chair. It was the only place safe from the cats who kept trying to get in the shot.

Thanks again Gala_apples! I really love my package!!!

8  Re: 4 x 6 Art Swap February 2017 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by gozer on: February 28, 2017 09:21:20 AM
I got my artwork from Anmesia last night and it came already framed and ready to display. It's going to go in my kitchen. I have a collage of sorts with random artwork in there. This will fit in perfectly. The vine, heart, and tag are on top of the frame for a cool layered effect.

 Thanks Amnesia, love it!

Project Name: Fox Fabric Drawing
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description:  I made this for the 4x6 Art swap. It had many steps to it. All the fabric except the green on the very back was white that I painted or drew on. I drew out the fox first and colored it with Inktense pencils. I added water to activate or whatever happens and set that aside to dry. Then I painted the background with blues and greens, let that dry and then went over it again with super glitter paint. While that was drying (actually the next day) I wrote out the quote and painted on that. After everything was all dried I cut out the fox and hand sewed the floss around him and the quote. After that, I stitched it all together on my sewing machine. The back green piece is a thin canvas type fabric so it had some weight to it. I liked it and I am currently making some more of these with different animals. It's actually more vibrant than the picture and it's square. I cut the final out with the quilting square when it was all done.
