1  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Wall-E Freezer Paper Stencil Shirt! on: July 30, 2008 08:09:48 PM
I am SO SO excited, because after searching four or five stores, and traveling to another state, I FINALLY found freezer paper! And when I tried to think of what my first freezer-paper stencil should be, I immediately thought of Wall-E! Found the image online, photoshop magic, then printed it onto normal paper, which was then exacto-ed out over the freezer paper, some ironing, some painting with fabric paint (3 thin layers each piece) and voila! My first stenciled shirt! I'm really excited with how it came out, and can't WAIT to do more! I might stick a little Eve on the back too, after work tomorrow. And I'm so happy to have my very own Wall-E shirt, without having to try to stuff myself into a kid's size!

(The flash rather blew this one out, sorry Sad )

2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Victorian collaged framed piece on: July 17, 2008 02:32:18 PM
Hello all! Here's the second piece worth posting from my 1880s swap. It's just a quick one-hour collage piece stuck into an old wooden frame - not my best work, but I think it kind of works! What do you think?

3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Victorian collaged tea tin on: July 17, 2008 02:27:57 PM
Hello all! I made this nifty little tin for an off-craftster swap. The idea was to pick a decade, any decade, and create a bunch of items related to both that decade and your partner's interests. I chose the 1880s, and filled this tin with loose blackberry green tea!

I couldn't quite get a great picture, but here's the best I could do:

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Modified upholstery hobo bag! on: June 17, 2008 02:36:20 PM
Hello all! I threw this bag together in a day because my Strand tote was getting (literally) threadbare. I wanted a bag that had a tote feel, but was a little more purse-like than my actual tote. So I made this bag up using some really beautiful upholstery fabric I'd been saving for just such an occasion, and used an old silk bedsheet for lining fabric. I'm pretty happy with how it came out!

Terrible action shot!
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / 1940's red feather hair clip! on: June 17, 2008 02:31:28 PM
Hello all! I just made this little hair clip for a friend's birthday - she's big into the 30s and 40s styles, and I thought she could use this nifty hair clip. It's made with a broken necklace pendant, red feathers, and bits of chain on a bobby pin. Enjoy!

Action shot!
6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / A few altered pages and some altered boxes! on: June 17, 2008 01:51:17 PM
Altered books are my favorite type of art (and I dabble in quite a bit!) Here's a few pieces of my work:

This one was made in a vintage candy box. The left reads 'should she have been frank?' It didn't photograph well, but it has a lot of 3D elements, including those glass slides covered with pink tissue paper, which are suspended with wire across the words (and hold the lid and base together)

Front side of last year's Valentine card for my darling!

And the back. Smiley

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / The messenger bag to end all messenger bags! on: March 22, 2008 04:15:04 PM
So, my boy told me how much he'd love a new messenger bag, but couldn't seem to find one that fit his style (or was under a hundred dollars!) So I volunteered to make him one, to his specifications! Silly me FAR underestimated just how much work this would end up being! He wanted a laptop pouch, lots of pockets, and tons of room. No problem, right? Wrong! This was originally going to be a Christmas present...then a Valentine's present...now it's just a present! It's taken four months of work, three broken machine needles, lots of mistakes and late nights and tears, but here it is, in all it's glory, quirky and imperfect but COMPLETE!

Here it is closed! I used tons and tons of upholstery fabric.

This is the inside! SO many pockets! This was also my first time using zippers! The laptop pouch is the big zipper in back, and it's fully padded.

Here's an in-progress pic to better see the bits-and-bobs of the inside front flap...

All told, it's fully expandable with four full-sized slots, two zippered partitions, a pencil holder and a key pocket!

And one TERRIBLE mirror photo for a size comparison - this bag is a monster! Sorry about my shredded jeans. Any comments, crit? My hands were shaking as I did the last seam, I couldn't believe four months of work was at an end!
8  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Record Clock on: January 10, 2008 01:34:46 PM
Hey everyone! I know that the record clock has been done over and over again, but I figured it'd be a safe bet for my first diy wall clock. I was really excited with how professional-looking it came out! All together, clock mechanism, numbers, and record together, it cost about 10$, and only took like ten minutes, including some time to drill out a bit more of the center hole. Can't wait to make more!

9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Altered Book Page on: November 06, 2007 11:47:18 AM
Just a page from my multi-year project, my altered book:

10  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Altered Book Box on: November 06, 2007 11:46:26 AM
I LOVE altered booking, this was a book I turned into a box and had in my senior year art show:

One of my favorite pieces ever!
