After seeing all those beautiful creations made from New Look 6557 (like these https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=227744.0
) I just had to try it, and since it's an easy pattern (at least the envelope says so) I figured it would be perfect for me. And when I made my last trip to IKEA I found this AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL fabric (the flowery one) which I had seen on ebay over the past years (but with crazy prices) and went right to work.
I think this is the best garment I've sewn so far; I worked as neatly as I could ("WWMD?"), pressed every seam, and finished every edge with my serger, and I was so proud of it that I wore it on Christmas Eve, even though I guess it's more a springtime/summer dress.
On Martha, my christmas present (and no, she was not named after Martha Steward, but after Anna-Martha Barenburg, my great-grandmother, who was the only known crafty person before me in my familiy - she was a milliner)
