1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Free Patterns for Clothing on: December 16, 2014 01:39:06 PM
It's been a while since my last post. Great to see this thread is still up!

Here are some more links to sites you can download free patterns (many multi-size) from. Many of the sites are not in English so Google translator for you. The patterns themselves can be interpreted easily once you find the download link. A few sites provide patterns as a large single sheet but these can be printed as multiple letter-sized sheets if you use the poster setting on your printer.

I recently put on a lot of weight and I'm now a size into "plus-size" so I know the struggle! Where possible I'll indicate if large sizes are available.

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Free women's pattern for one month download on: May 30, 2011 04:32:36 PM
Hi guys!

I don't know if you know this but the web site http://leko-mail.net is allowing free downloads of all their women's patterns for one size (equivalent to a Burda size 44) which I believe is a size 18 in US patterns (41 inch hips).

The patterns are pdf's. It lasts for one month. I believe for the month of May (I didn't notice an end  date on the site). I am not affiliated with these people and I don't speak Russian but the download page is in English.

I did some research on the company to see if they were legit. There is a thread (19 pages) about their patterns on patternreview.com.

Search for "Lekala patterns free in September (size 42 and 44)"

Reasons to download
  • Even if this isn't your size you can always grade the patterns up or down
  • You don't know how to grade patterns? Some are so cute you'll want to learn how to grade patterns

Have fun! Don't blame your carpal tunnel syndrome on me! Wink

Everything is so pretty especially the beaded flowery clip.
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: how to make these adorable sleeves? on: October 09, 2010 05:07:50 PM
Hi! The sleeves look like bell sleeves to me without any cuffs added. You can use a basic sleeve pattern (that fits the sheath dress pattern you were planning to use) and modify it into a bell sleeve quite easily.

Trace a copy of your basic sleeve pattern. Slash and spread it out. Make a few test sleeves to see if you  like your draft.

Here are some instructions I have found for this.

I hope this helps!

7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: Spot and finish off those UFO's along on: March 14, 2010 04:09:01 PM
How is the UFO-finishing going everyone? I have been up to my eyeballs in work for the past month or so but I decided to put my back into finishing my ufo's especially since I learnt I need to finish things that I started.

Today I finished altering and/or repairing 4 tops and 1 scarf. I didn't post photos because I didn't think it was worth it since I didn't make them in the first place. Have a great week everybody and happy crafting  Smiley

10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: 50 Projects 2010 on: February 16, 2010 08:35:00 AM
This is my fifth project. It is a large tote-bag made of thick velvet.

I made it large enough to accommodate my wide screen laptop since my regular bags can't fit it properly. The handles are heavy duty chain from the hardware store. The fabric is gathered towards the top of the bag (very difficult to photograph properly Sad) which I thought would be a great contrast against the cutesy gathered velvet. I also used a heavy duty zipper which ties in the look just fine.

This bag was a beast to sew though. I broke two needles and finally decided to sew in the lining by hand. My poor machine couldn't handle all that upholstery weight velvet and several layers if interfacing! The lining is electric blue. It makes me happy every time I open my bag  Grin
