21  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Gingerbread men ornaments on: December 09, 2009 08:45:49 AM
Those are awesome!  I love how the bitten parts are all raggedy.  And they kinda look like Mr. Bill to me in the face, which makes them extra awesome!  Did you glue and then sew them or are they just sewn?  The only felt I've ever worked with are those silly little kits as a kid, so I don't really know.  How tall are they?  I am asking all of these questions because this looks like a super fun holiday stress buster!  Plus I, too, have friends and family who would totally love these!  Great job!

I finally got everything off today, but I told RyverChyld that she can only open two of them and the rest have to wait until Christmas.  I love her but I don't know if she can make it!   Cheesy

What other reason do you need to want spats?!?  I live in the desert, don't wear boots or heels and I'm desperate for a pair.   Cheesy  I am addicted to Converse Chuck Taylors so I want a pair of spats to wear with each pair of Chucks.  It will make them 'wintery' when it's 70 degrees here.   Grin
I also got 2 things finished yesterday and it's going in the mail this afternoon.  Gotta finish the laundry first.

I've been waiting for this gallery to come up.  Such wonderful packages.  I love the fichu and the nativity wall hanging.  Way back, eye_on_sparrow showed a picture of a fabric nativity.  I have that same panel and with being sick and all I haven't had a chance to make it.  Seeing what it looks like finished has definitely given the motivation to start on it.  You did a wonderful job.  And all those teaser pictures are teasing me, too!

Oh my!  I love the spats and hat.  I only crochet, but all the cute spats I see have made me want to take up knitting just so I make them.  Such a wonderful package, you lucky girl.

I love the laptop bag.  I so need one of those!  My puppies are now totally jealous of your stockings.  I may have to make some for them.  Great stuff so far.

I'm finally feeling better, but I won't have as much to send as I was hoping.  I'm going to send what I have probably tomorrow or the next day.  Maybe if I feel okay, I can get something else done.
28  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Murder Mystery Lovers Swap? on: November 27, 2009 08:05:26 AM
Oh I am getting such great ideas for new authors!  I hadn't heard of Travis McGee until you guys mentioned it and that sounds like a series I would like.  I also love protagonists that I can really relate to.  I started reading the Aurora Teagarden mysteries because I was a librarian and fell in love with her.  I also love mysteries with really unique mysteries, not just who killed this person and why.  I loved 'Interred with their Bones' (Shakespeare lovers rejoice,) 'Child 44' (which I recommend to everyone,) 'Dark Matter (which you love or hate,) and 'Carter kills the Devil,' which was a great book nobody heard of.  At my local library we have a new book display that has a section of debut novels.  No matter why I go to the library, I always check that out.  You never know when you'll find an author you can't wait to read again.
As for the swap, I like the idea of trading paperbacks, but I think that should be an option on the questionnaire.  Some people might be put off by the shipping costs of sending a book.  Of course, if you're sending in the US you can use the media rate which is a little slower but definitely cheaper.  I think it was in the Jane Austen swap that one of the requirements was to craft something reading related, too, like a bookmark or book jacket or something like that, not just something about Jane Austen.  Since we would all be big readers, I think that would be fun to craft for each other.  I myself would love some bookplates.

I'm trying to get work done, but I'm still feeling pretty cruddy.  I'm hoping I won't run late, because it won't get to RyverChyld in time for Christmas, but the germies don't understand my need for non-snotty crafting time!  Every time I blow my nose, I coat my hands in Purell.  I think that stuff may start peeling the skin off soon.   Cheesy  I've gotten pretty far on one thing and I think it's gonna turn out really cute.

SimplyFabulous, that is a wonderful way to spend the day.  You truly walk His path!  Just speaking of giving during the holidays, I just found out that JCPenney's is doing an online angel tree.  It's just like the ones they have in the mall, the kids are all from your area but you can get the child's needs and buy everything online.  My husband and I rarely shop at the mall, so this was such a wonderful way to help without having to brave the Christmas mall craziness!  Just thought that might interest someone.
