21  My old shirt, Sam's new shirt. (pic heavy...) Link to Tutorial in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by SampsonsLynnie on: July 24, 2007 11:31:24 PM
Hi y'all! I just finished this shirt for my Basset Hound. (I was bored watching TV, never mind it's 1:30 am) It's really hard to find clothes in Sammy's size, but he just loves to get dressed up! (you really should see him strut his stuff!)

Anyways, I didn't wear this shirt anymore, so I decided to make it into one for him. It started off as just a long-sleeved baseball type shirt, the picture was on the front.

(Oh, and I am planning of shortening the sleeves a bit more.)

(He's a wonderful model, as you can see.)

Here's a close-up of the image on the shirt:

Hope you enjoy! It's really easy to make (providing you have a cooperative poochie), and very handy for larger breeds. I would assume it would work alright for smaller dogs too, so long as you used smaller shirts. The one I used was a Large, Sam is about 60 pounds and has a 24" chest. I only had to remove about 2 inches of fabric for him, but it has a loose comfy fit. (He doesn't really move around too much... like I said, Basset hound...  Wink)

Okee! I went ahead and made a tute! It's got lots of pictures, so I just posted it on my blog. You can find it here:

22  Pillowcases and friends! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by SampsonsLynnie on: July 19, 2007 12:37:29 PM
Hey! I'm finally getting around to posting some of my finished things here. Smiley

So, I work for the University of Kansas (where I also go to school, how convenient..  ), and I don't have much to do during the summer when school and my job are not in session. Wink To pass the time, I decided to teach myself to sew. (This came about after purchasing a girl's brand-new never-opened Singer for $20 on move-out day).

I've made a few things and messed up more, but I've gotten really good at pillowcases. They're just your basic Oxford style (I think that's what it's called) so nothing really special. I like making my own because they fit perfectly... few things annoy me more than a shifty pillowcase. Tongue

Oh yea! Before I yammer on too long, here are some pics!

This is my entire bed. Smiley Please excuse the concrete walls, I live in a converted studio apartment, and still have a lot of unfinished surfaces. I don't mind tho, I feel that it gives it character. Smiley
Oh, and those are curtains behind the bed.. I felt like I had to put *something* there.

Close-up of the pillows, complete with cases. I made both the little ones in front, the one with a pillowcase is from a T-Shirt that says "I am Merril", it's an ad from a radio station in Lawrence. I got tired of looking at it, so I made a case for it. Smiley

I flippin' love this fabric! I got about 8 yards of it off eBay, but I haven't really figured out what to do with the rest! It's on my big fake-feather king-size pillow that an old roommate gave to me. (I'm highly allergic to the real ones. Sad )

This is my sushi pillow. I love sushi, but I don't remember where I found the fabric. It's all sorts of fun. Smiley The back is just blue with some fishies swimmin' around.

This is the wonderful and amazing denim quilt that a dear friend of mine made for me when I graduated high school. It has been on my bed ever since, and I take every opportunity to show it off. Smiley I figured I'd throw it in here since the rest of my bed was already showcased.  Wink

The pillowcases are super quick and easy to make. I've made several more for friends of mine. My favorites were made for my friend's husband who has gone overseas. They're just plain white, but I took them to my Mother's and printed tons of photos of home on them for him! Smiley (She does that professionally, I'll have to find her website for y'all.)

Okee... I'll stop now, sorry for the super-long post!
