21  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: 20 Questions Mix CD Gallery on: August 20, 2005 07:51:29 AM
Sorry about that Starpist! I was a little over zealous with the glue. I can email them to you if you like.

Starsix- I'm really glad that you liked everything, but especially glad that you didn't think that I had denigrated a book to make you a secret hiding space for booze! I scoured the thrift shops for one with a title that was somewhat sexy, and finally found "La Folie D'une Femme Seduite" which roughly translates to "The folly of a seduced woman". It made me giggle.

I'm really impressed with all the things that people have made. I think this might be the best swap I've been in so far. Three cheers for librarians!
23  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Anyone else into canning? on: August 12, 2005 07:08:08 PM
I'm so excited to find this thread! I don't have time to can things these days, but my best friend is in the midst of canning herbal tinctures.
24  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Moulin Rouge - the movie swap? or baz luhrman on: August 12, 2005 06:59:21 PM
In a heartbeat. As long as I could request ONLY items related to Strictly Ballroom and/or Moulin Rouge. Romeo and Juliet stunk.

I'm totally down with being vegetarian inclusive.  Smiley
26  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: kickin it old school: mix tapes on: August 12, 2005 02:33:04 PM
OK kids- I'm going to organize this one but I'm going on vacation for two weeks, so look for the sign ups come late August. There was mention a while back of doing two mix tapes (because they're easy to mail) but I tend to prefer only doing one, because even if they're easy to mail, I put way more time and effort into making one mix tape than I do a mix c.d. So, unless concenses is otherwise, I'm going to plan on it being a "choose your own theme" single mix tape swap.

27  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: NEW YORK NIGHTS ALTERED BOOK on: August 12, 2005 06:22:50 AM
WOW, that's lovely. It would be neat if you could fit some Anais Nin in there: for some reason she's indelibly linked to New York for me.
28  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Imaginary Friends on: August 11, 2005 09:03:26 PM
There's another thread about synesthesia floating around crafster somewhere... I'm too lazy to look up the link and post it. edited when I realized that YOU started both this thread and the synesthesia thread. duh.

As for imaginary friends, I just thought I'd add my two cents: Imaginary friends are totally normal! I had tonnes as a kid (and imaginary enemies, too) but I can't really remember them anymore. Nor can I remember when they dissapeared. I have far more vivid memories about my little sister's imaginary friends Asia and January, but that's a whole other story.

As long as it's something positive to you, I wouldn't worry about it. At the very beginning of this thread, someone mentioned going to a school guidance counselor for help. While I'm very much in favor of having people to talk to about your problems (friends, family, psychologists, etc.) I don't think that school guidance councilors are among the list of people I'd reccomend. I had to really think about why exactly I'm prejudiced against them, and I realized that I've never come across a school guidance councilor actually equipped to deal with problems bigger than "I'm stressed out about my grades" or "my boyfriend dumped me". But that also might just have been my experience.

WOW. I love the Edward Gorey diorama.

I just received my package from Starsix today, but I can't post pics.... but here's what I got:

- a set of notecards with sayings about reading on them. My fave is: " Never judge a book by it's movie" teehee
- two paper bookmarks with sayings on them
- two lovely beaded bookmarks. I don't really know how to describe them, but they're really pretty
- a beaded key chain
- a set of "this book belongs to" stickers, each one different, and each handmade
- and a beaded zipper pull that says "book geek". It's so a pro peau. ('scuse the spelling in french!)

It's awesome, and it's all stuff that I would never make myself (I do not have the patience for beading things.) which makes it even better. Thanks so much Starsix! Your package is on it's way.
30  CANADA / Quebec / Re: Cool places in Montreal? on: August 11, 2005 03:56:30 PM
There is a vegetarian buffet restaurant there, the name of which I cannot remember,  but it was some of the best food I've ever eaten!  It was really expen$ive though.  Really, really expensive.

That's The Commonsal. I actually don't like their food at all, and it is really expensive. It's by the weight, and they use glass plates, so you're actually also paying for the plate! Not to mention the fact that they're a chain and arn't reknown for treating their employees well. I would just go to Aux Vives on St Laurent instead. Much, much better food, and it's vegan!
