I'd love to hear positive experiences that people have had with these online shops.  I haven't been very happy with a lot of the different places that I've had to order from lately. For example, products not being properly labelled, pictures that are way too small, shopping carts that don't work, products listed that they don't actually have, the owner emailing me to say that the shipping cost is really high, but not giving me a quote, etc.... frustrating.   I want to know who should be getting my business!

i just got an order from www.yarnsale.ca (http://www.yarnsale.ca)
it came quick
postage was reasonable
no customs b/c it is canadian
best bit: i got Debbie Bliss wool/cotton for less than $4 a ball!

ps it is a bit of wading through novelty yarn but there are some select lovely natural fibers available at pretty good rates!

Nice... I added Yarn Sale to the list.

A few months back I wasn't able to log into Pen Ink and Paper (http://peninkpaper.com) and there was no responce from the admin when I emailed them with my problem.  I just tried logging in again today and it worked.  I guess it was just a kink that they had to work out... hopefully everything goes well with them now, they're the only online retailer (aside from Lacy's which doesn't have a great selection) of PMC and PMC accessories in Canada that I know of.

I'm sorry these were posted! hehe. I haven't had any experience ordering online through them, by my experiences at their bricks & mortar stores were quite good.

Some that I like:

http://thatbeadlady.com/home.htm (http://thatbeadlady.com/home.htm) - bead patterns/kits/supplies - located Southern Ontario, very friendly, good service, has store on location too (often buy from them when they have a booth at the local bead or craft fairs in Toronto)

http://www.beadfx.com/ (http://www.beadfx.com/) - I usually shop at their store or booth when they are at a craft/bead show since I live very close to them

http://torontobeadsociety.org/ (http://torontobeadsociety.org/) - not a store, but the local bead society - links to some artisans who sell patterns, etc, like Maria Rypan

http://canbead.com/index_loaded.html (http://canbead.com/index_loaded.html) - located in Ottawa - good supplier of semi-precious goods.  Again, I buy from them when they are in town with craft shows (namely the Creative Sewing and Needlework Festival)

http://frabels.com/ (http://frabels.com/) - located in Quebec - mainly a wholesaler for those who qualify

http://johnbead.com/ (http://johnbead.com/) - located in Toronto, also a wholesaler

http://www.thebeadshopcanada.com/MainCatalogPage.html (http://www.thebeadshopcanada.com/MainCatalogPage.html) - a BC bead shop

http://northernbead.com/ (http://northernbead.com/) - haven't had to order from them yet - located in Toronto, looks promising

For general crafts, lots of crochet/knit/cross stitch, etc:

http://www.marymaxim.com/Default.asp (http://www.marymaxim.com/Default.asp) - located in Paris, Ontario
(they operate bigyarnsale.ca too)

Also for knit/crochet patterns and needles/hooks

http://karpstyles.com/ (http://karpstyles.com/) - located in Northern Canada

And a good supplier for nicely priced yarn, located in BC (I have ordered from them at least three times, very satisfactorily:

http://yarnbythebag.com/ (http://yarnbythebag.com/)

Ok, I'm second guessing myself here.  This site is still processing my order after 2 weeks.  Seems sketchy.

has anyone ever used http://www.currys.com (http://www.currys.com)?
They're more art than craft but I'm about a to make a very big purchase from them and would love it if anyone has good (or bad) things to say about them.

Also, anyone have any recs for airbrushing supplies?

I'm so happy o hear that. It seemed like that on the website but I'm buying a $300.00 airbrush compressor and wanted to be sure. That's not a purchase to take lightly.

I don't think this one was mentioned but Gaspereau Valley Fibres (http://www.gaspereauvalleyfibres.ca) is fantastic!  I don't have much selection for wool where live and they came though for some fanastic Brown Sheep for a Christmas present.  They were extremely helpful and friendly- and shipping was pretty fast too!

Hi, new here, just found this website last night... I have been searching for days for a Canadian place to buy fabric online.  Has anybody bought from Wazoodle?  Their prices look decent, just wondering if anyone has experience with them?

I've bookmarked a few Canadian online bead sources I don't think have been mentioned. I'm primarily a seed beader, so that's what most of these carry. I haven't ordered from these; I have used BeadFX (posted previously) and got great service.

NLM Glass Arts: http://www.nlmglassarts.com/
The best selection of Japanese seed beads I've come across so far.

Strung Out Beads: http://www.strungoutbeads.ca/
Delicas in bulk

Black Tulip Designs: http://www.blacktulipdesigns.com/
Limited selection, but they have charlottes and whitehearts, which can be hard to find.

The Beading Room: http://thebeadingroom.com/
Decent selection of Miyukis and delicas, but seed beads are sold in 5 gram packages and the prices per bead are a bit high compared to other sources.

Franche Jewelry and Beads: http://www.franchejewelry.com/beads.html
Small assortment of czech and japanese beads, sold in small packages and with prices per bead a bit high.

The eBeadStore: http://www.raydeccreations.com/
A selection of delicas, seems to be a good source for semi-precious.

Elizabeadin: http://www.elizabeadin.com/
A few delicas, Swarovski and 2-holes.

Just a heads up for those who are going to make purchases from Curry's... They are a big business, which means that their prices are rediculously HIGH. I would only ever use them as a last resort, especially for craft supplies.

This is such a great idea though! Anyone know of anywhere I can get safety eyes other than Michael's or Etsy? I'd rather get them a bit more locally than on Etsy and Michael's has no selection :(

Just ordered some supplies from canwax.com - I was impressed by the service and speed.  I ordered on-line Monday night and it arrived today, Wednesday morning.  I ordered about 10 loofahs, 4 lbs soap base, some wicks, and two bottles of essential oil, and the shipping was a bit less than $8.

I will certainly be ordering from them again, especially when I do the ice candles.

Safety glasses - you should be able to get them at your local Canadian Tire/Home Hardware/hardware/house paint supply store/Rona/Building Box/Home Depot - anything from the slip on plastic glasses to the goggle styles.

In my recent quest for doll joints (where have all the doll joints gone?) and safety eyes, I discovered Stockade at stockade.ca. I haven't ordered from them yet, but they have a brick and mortar store in Guelph and their (free) catalogue looks pretty substantial.

Also I don't know if anyone has mentioned Shades of Clay, but I like them for polymer clay supplies.

I started ordering from Stockade in the Spring too, after discovering on a search for alcohol inks and the customer service and shipping is excellent!  I love that it is a base rate for everything.  Sucks if you are ordering just one bottle of paint, but for a large order, fantastic!  I will probably be ordering some wood items from them soon

Does anyone know where I can get small wooden items for crafting? I want to make my daughter some bendy dolls and doll furniture but I have been unable to find ANYTHING nearby. I live in Halton Hills. I found a couple places online within Canada but not one place has everything I need so I'd have to place multiple orders... and pay multiple shipping charges  :'(

Man... I miss White Rose like nobodys business :(

Oh - if anyone is interested in ordering from canwax.com - when I first posted, they were in Mississauga - but they relocated to Huntsville, Ontario a couple of years ago.  Not sure what their shipping costs are now, but they do allow on-line orders and pick up at their warehouse, which is what I do because we go there when we are at the cottage.
