Alright!

If you want something in particular, be specific.  For example, I put that I wanted tomato seeds but not roma or cherry tomatoes.

I set the dates as they are so we can all start our gardens in a timely fashion.  If you were a previous member of craftster, I would PM one of the swap mods and see if you can hash anything out with them.

Eight people have joined so far!

I've looked at some more books from my library.

Burpee seed starter : a guide to growing flower, vegetable, and herb seeds indoors and outdoors by Maureen Heffernan
It gives some good tips on starting from seed plus there's an index of flowers, veggies, and herbs in the back with plant description and when to start growing, etc.

Salad gardens : simple secrets for glorious gardens - indoors and out by Mimi Luebbermann
I was expecting a little more information out of this book, but it does have recipes in the back and some suggestions for experimenting with different flavors.

I also noticed that soap was on someone's list of something they wouldn't mind receiving.  I learned how to make soap from two books that I adore and have renewed from the library.  They're on my list of "books to buy".  Great recipes, great instructions.
Beautiful handmade natural soaps : practical ways to make hand-milled soap and bath essentials : included-- charming ways to wrap, label & present your creations as gifts by Marie Browning.
The complete soapmaker : tips, techniques & recipes for luxurious handmade soaps by Norma Coney

I did some planting today and it made me think of this swap!

I can't wait....mysteriously I do have a greenthumb or a desire to poke around in the earth.

lovelyislacey brought up a great point.  if you're planning on buying seeds for your partner, not only should you check with the post office (that info is up in the swap info) but check what zone they're in.  if it's something for the outdoors, it might not be able to grow in their zone.  The gardenhelper has up zone sites for the USA here: http://www.thegardenhelper.com/hardiness.htm

And I'm trying to find an international zone map... anyone have one?

Good point!  I live in California and EVERYTHING grows here!

Thanks for the regional reminder!

I am in New England and we tend to have a little more trouble growing things like peppers and such-- they just love the heat and we don't always get a lot of that!   :-\

I can't find an international zone map, but I'll keep looking.
Just to complicate matters, folks in the Pacific NW tend to confuse the Sunset gardening zones with the "official" zones. For example - I'm in zone 7/8 but my Sunset zone is like 5 or something.
Depending on who I get assigned I think I will send the seeds seperately just incase - so the whole package doesn't get waylaid.

Good point.  Sending seeds separately may give the rest of your package a better chance.

Once again another clueless question from snacker:
How many items are we to send?  Large? small?  etc.?

Thanks!

Ah yes.  I don't realy like to set a limit, but most people are saying one big item and 2-4 small items or their time-equivalent.  What I do is I make a list of crafting possibilities, and work with my partner from there so we're both sending the same amount.  If you're sending seeds, I would decide on that separately from your crafts.

Yay, for this swap!

I love this swap.  I have been planting and everytime I lay a seed in the ground...I think, "Round 2 for the Greenthumbs!"

If any of y'all need an extension, just PM me about it.  I realize that March has Spring Break.  I took a vacay to chicago and we visited the Lincoln park conservatory (which I'd been to before) and it was still great as ever.  They had a special show that was for spring flowers.  Wow, the whole room was so bright with flowers and just smelled wonderful.  It kicked me into gear and I got some plants repotted last night.
