Title: Freezer paper- Winnipeg????!?, Anywhere?!
Post by: flybynight on November 23, 2005 11:07:31 PM
Hi there!
Im looking to find some freezer paper(renyolds) in Winnipeg.
Ive heard rumors that theres none to be found in Canada at all.
If youve seen some around somewhere (and you dont live in Winnipeg like I do)
Please tell me where you saw it anyways because perhaps ill double/triple check that store.

I live in Ontario...and I've found Reynolds Freezer paper...Although I did have to look in a bigger grocery store. Check around in the larger grocery stores, it should be with all the baggies, tin foil and such. I'm sure a different brand would work too. Reynolds is good freezer paper, I found some here but it was quite expensive...well $10 for a package, I thought that was a lot for freezer paper...if you search and search and can't find it, maybe I can send you some...good luck!

now maybe I'm just dumb (quite possible), but what about using parchment paper? and maybe freezer bags. I'm not sure what you want to do with the freezer paper (I'm assuming you wanna freeze stuff), but I use parchment/silicone paper...whatever you want to call it for wrapping and freezing cookie dough...plus you use it for baking. will that work for you? its found with all the other stuff in the grocery store and it goes for around 3 bucks a roll.

if you AREN'T freezing stuff, what about using the brown paper they sell at the post office or dollar store for wrapping packages to mail. (if this works go to the dollar store...'cause its...ummm...a buck...and not whatever the p.o. charges)

hth...otherwise feel free to ignore    ;D

Its not the same thing.  I need it for stenciling.  Nothing else will work.

And no, im not freezing, wrapping, etc.  I would use something else if I couldnt find freezer paper for those things.
Freezer paper is waxy on one side therefore allowing it to be temporarily bonded to your fabric while the other side doesnt screw up your iron.

I'm sure the paper doesn't have to be "Reynold's Freezer Paper"...I'm sure any brand would work...I find it strange that they wouldn't sell that where you live cause its a pretty useful household item...Hummmmmm...Keep looking...look for any freezer paper...and maybe you want to call a local kitchen shop...they may know where to find it...but if all else fails...I can send you some.

Good luck

I got mine at either Foodland in Saint Norbert or Safeway Fort Richmond. It is hard to track down though, luckily it lasts forever. (Unless you use it a lot.)

Can you buy it in US and take it back to Canada?  Sounds silly, but I don't know about customs...  Or buy it online and have it shipped?  Couldn't be that expensive ($5 for a 100ft roll here), and you'd get it quicker than looking all over the province.  If you stock up, you'd be the only one in Winnipeg with freezer paper... $$ !?  Just Kidding...  ;)
Ebay has some for quilting on sale now, both the US and CA sites.  Not Reynolds, but the same as you're looking to do with it.
Good Luck!

i just found a giant roll of freezer paper in Grand Forks, ND at the Wal-Mart in the section where waxed paper is.  I know it seems like a long way to go just for freezer paper but they have an amazing Joann's fabrics there if you are into other sewing and crafts as well.  Not to mention Super Target...and they are only 2 hours away...no passport needed (yet).

Umm, i find some in the tiny town of russell every year when I wrap christmas presents I use this and stencil on it so I wouldn't think it would be so hard to find! . . .mine is in a white retangular box, with a LOT in there (sorry, don't know brand name, not a home right now). Maybe it's easier to find at my place b/c of it being "cattle country" and a major hunting spot where everyone wraps their own meat?

I bought some in The Bay basement downtown in the food store there (Reynolds brand).  It was about $5.  I've also seen HUGE rolls at The Real Canadian WAREHOUSE store on Ellice and Route 90 (not Reynolds brand - it was brown).  They are where the waxed paper and aluminum foil is.  I haven't looked anywhere else though but I imagine Safeway would have it as well.

I live in a fairly small town, (Boissevain) and I was suprised to find that they have it at the Co-op Grocery store in town..the brand is called Freezer King. It is expensive ($16) but it has 265 sq ft. in a roll so that will definatly last a long time!

BREAKING NEWS!!!

Haha okay, so today I was in the Village and dropped by Safeway, and voila!

The Safeway on Osbourne and River in Winnipeg carries Reynold's brand freezer paper...50' for $6.69. I imagine other Safeways carry it too, but I haven't checked yet.

I was looking for it too, and thusfar, this is the only place I've been able to find it.
Hope this helps you out :)

I recently saw a posting that used freezer paper in the tute. Sooooo I went looking for it and asked at at Michaels ( I live in Ontario just north of Toronto) and was told they don't have a clue since no one uses it anymore. I looked in a ton of grocery stores and still have not located any either. They have similar stencil papers at Michaels but are really expensive in my opinion. I will keep looking and let y'all know if I find this ever elusive freezer paper. :( In Ontario we don't have safeway.

I've just bought some from Superstore, if you have those.
It was about $5.13 for Reynold's brand.
Cheaper than Safeway anyways :)

I'm in northern Ontario where you can't find ANYTHING and my Independant (it's a grocery store that's basically a "real canadian superstore" with a different name.. same colours and set up. I had to as for it though because it was hidden. It seems like grocery stores are the best place to find it. I only used a little so it should last almost for forever. Depending on the amount of poppets I make :)
