Title: Make Me A Rainbow swap -FINISHED
Post by: craftylittlemonkey on July 27, 2019 01:01:39 PM

~R~~A~~I~~N~~B~~O~~W~ GALLERY! (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=459159.0)

Even though it's a bright, hot summer and a profusion of flowers are blooming wherever you look, there are still some grey days. I've had a few lately & I feel like I could use a little cheering up. How about you? Want to brighten somebody's day and have them shine a little glorious colour back into yours? Of course you do! And with 3 weeks of crafting time for a medium item, you can surely squeeze it into your busy summer schedule. I sure hope so because I know I am not the only one longing for a gallery full of beautiful ROYGBIV!

Details of swap:
For this swap we shall each craft a medium parcel for our partner. Official Craftster guidelines describe a medium as taking 2 or more hours to craft (not including shopping time, drying time, etc), some examples of which might be: one single necklace or bracelet, or a scarf, the relative price of which could equal: $10- $30.
***There's been some discussion about crafting one small item for each colour of the rainbow so please list whether you want to do that and also whether you want to receive that (the answer can be yes for only one of those options but if your partner is making you 7 smalls you may want to reciprocate with a large in return. I trust you to work it out in your chats because you are all so awesome like that). Extras are not required (again, discuss with your partner if you want to exchange those) but I think a personal note or card is always such a sweet thing to receive so please take the time to send a greeting, perhaps include an uplifting story or adventure you've had recently. Share something nice :).

Me too! I've been researching practical items because they get asked for a lot and I found such beautiful glorious rainbow things! Check out these lovely baskets and bowls:

Those are more larges than mediums but small versions could be made. I know I love doing patchwork, that can be sewn into so many items. Here's a zippered pouch I made that I think I'd consider a medium:

OMGOSH... stop... youre twisting my arm!

And song lyrics play in my head every time I see the title...

Lord make me a rainbow, I'll shine down on my mother
She'll know I'm safe with you when
She stands under my colours, oh and
Life ain't always what you think it oughta be, no...

I have to start a new pin board too. I am going to make 2, one for general rainbow projects and one for the things I specifically like. I did a search by tag here and ooh my gosh, bonanza!

Remember friends, a medium is 2 hours of crafting time! I know there are many here who like to over extend themselves making the most epic fiftyeleven hour crafts but it is NOT necessary, lol. You do have time for this, just make mention in your Q that you would like to stick to the size requirements so you can find space to participate. If your partner is a spoiler, please accept their loving effort with grace and do not compare your hours spent, that is not the point y'all. I'd be more than happy with a 2 hour ATC no matter what crazy thing I decide to make.

I started a pin board and I KNOW some of my pins are over 2 hour projects and I 100% don't expect to get them! I just like wishing and also sharing examples of things I like in hopes that it will help my partner  :) Here it is (https://www.pinterest.com/reinikka/rainbow-swap-wishes/) I just started it so I will be adding more  :D

But if my partner doesn't want to make them, then he/she is welcome to use my pinterest-I have lots of rainbow stuff on there.

Welcome to the swap kartiana! I'm going to check out everybody's pin boards this week while the kids are away at various cottages. A little crafty stay-cation for mama, yay!

Ya, fiftyeleven. I am guilty of it so I won't hold it against anybody else. I craft for sanity and sometimes I need a push to force me to get into the studio and be creative. I love it when a swap partner has a real corker of an idea I can run with, gets all the juices flowing and the challenge just leaves me so happy :).

Right? Is anybody else wondering why the heck signs ups seem so long right about now? LOL. I think I was hoping this would be irresistible to swappers like gala_apples, etc. I know there are a lot of rainbow lovin' peeps on this forum *hint hint nudge nudge*!

Snails, those are rad! I'm so looking forward to seeing what people make.

LBBB hugs. I know it's been pretty cheerful for me collecting rainbow supplies that I might possibly use, extras too. I find even the planning phase of a project enjoyable and distracting. And I sorted through stash and found ever so much stuff. I'm not likely to need a shopping trip for this one!

Tonight though I am putting together an Ikea Kallax shelf for my girl, white with black bins to go into it. boooorrrring. She's in that phase right now, she'll come back round to rainbow profusion in time, I'm certain she'll find her artsy soul longing for colour after a monotone while.

craftylittlemonkey and BigBangMomma have made me into a masterboard addict and I decided to start making a masterboard for each color of the rainbow. I will either use them in some way for this swap or just hoard them for future use  ;D

For anyone that missed it, here's the link for the Masterboard Swap (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=458451.0) that BBM hosted. And here's the link for CLM's Scrap Paper Bookmarks (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=457700.0) that got me started

Whoever gets me as a partner for this swap, I'm going to list the three things that I was hoping for, in the order that I would like them.  I don't want to forget.

1)  My most beloved gecko, Elizabeth, passed last night around eight PM.  Rainbows have a special meaning to me because of my beloved Grandmother, and I know they are a symbol of pets that have passed.  I've had hermit crabs and an aquatic frog (Frogmore) that have passed on as well.  If my partner could make me something depicting these animals on it, I would be very grateful.  (Photos of Elizabeth are posted in the current 'Geezer' swap thread.)

2)  A journal, with papers formatted as one that I can post to show you.  It is basically a daily schedule, but the book I bought that had them in it fell apart and I have only one blank page left.  If it could be a journal smaller than a notebook, and if I could be able to remove and replace papers in it, that would be wonderful.

3)  A sewn bag that has short handles that are Velcro-ed closed in the middle.  I would like to use it to keep my crocheting supplies in when I'm the passenger in a car and I want to crochet.  I usually just use a plastic shopping bag and tie it to the handle on the car door, but it's a pain.

Thanks.

craftylittlemonkey, you are correct! I heard the siren song of a rainbow swap from miles away!

As for art, audio- hell yeah! Literally this week I went to frame the art I got from mandykaye from the previous rainbow swap, and I CAN'T BLOODY FIND IT. I couldn't be more furious about it, I FINALLY have my craft room tidied enough that I can put art up, and this https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=454454.msg5483821#msg5483821 (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=454454.msg5483821#msg5483821) art of a rainbow galaxy is just GONE. I put it somewhere to keep it safe, and apparently my definition of safe is 'even from myself'.

But yeah, rainbow art would be delightful, I'd always be happy to get something bright on the walls.

D'oh! I have absolutely done that. My house is full of "smart" places to put stuff. I am not always clever enough to find them again, lol.

Is anybody else having a hard time not getting started? I think I'd better make some rainbow masterboards too, I gotta give in the this temptation at least a little bit!

Believe it or not, the embroidery is rainbow.  I used a bright rainbow colored thread, alternating with pastel rainbow colored thread.

And our most favorite rainbow of all!!!!!!!!------->>>>>>

Rainbow the gecko, sister/friend of my beloved Elizabeth the gecko!  (When we first got her, she had shimmery pastel colors of the rainbow, hence, the name.)

So sorry about Elizabeth, LBB.  :'(
I'm helpless to resist the call of the rainbow, and rainbow art by audio, but I'm not sure about the timing...trying to finish up some other projects this month as well... I'm glad there's a long sign-up period! I don't know what I want or what I'd make, but it would probably involve the spectrum of embroidery thread I pulled
together last year in anticipation of rainbow-crafting:

Those shoes are so rad, I would totally paint my kicks like that! If I didn't have to wear orthotic foot gear, lol. Too expensive to purchase a pair for every day and one to paint I'm afraid.

calluna You can totally do a medium item, it's just a couple of hours. You can do it, you know you can. Peer Pressure Applied, lol.

LBB, so sorry to hear about Elizabeth! Rainbow is very cute by the way. And I have already begun designing your three listed items in my head, with a few questions of course Ė totally in line with my determination not to join this swap because I know I might be in trouble as the Geezer sendout is just a week before this swap's ::)

As if that ever kept me away from anything. Off to work on my questionnaire...

Maybe I should keep that in mind too. Planning is always happening, but the crafting time for an actual medium item would fit into that last week if needs must. So far Geezer is going well though, so...

Post by: craftylittlemonkey on August 04, 2019 03:04:44 PM
Ya, I know I do this too but sometimes people see a swap with MEDIUM listed and they think about what sort of quilt or afghan they have supplies for, haha. There's nothing wrong with that if it makes you happy but it is not a medium! A medium is 2 or more hours. Making a gelli print then cutting it up into 4 or 6 pieces and gluing those to card fronts is more than enough crafting to meet the official requirements. Or, like, a simple pendant or bracelet (I don't mean your awesome beaded wonders Anna, I made 1 inch of that and it took me an hour!), or a small sewn or crocheted pouch, a dotee, a TM patch or merit badge, a 4X6 piece of art.

Would it be helpful if participants posted their potential wishlists? I can list a sampling of what people have asked for so far:
Sewn item
Something functional
Wall art
Bath bombs
Blanket
Baskets/organizing things
Socks
Ornaments
Anything decorative
Baby/educational toy

And the things people listed to make:
Crochet
Fabric note books
Decorative box painting
TM square
Simple jewelry
Shrine
Collage, paint, stencil, print
Sewn items
Cards
Tote bag
Kitchen cloths
Traveller's journal
Gift bags/Tags
ATCs
Pot holders
Mini Art Quilt
Coasters
Mug Rug
Masterboards
Embroidery/cross stitch
Altered art

There have been lots of people saying yes about 7 items and also lots of people saying no, same with extras. Everybody is mostly very flexible. You will all receive a wonderful partner with the crafters already on board and I bet there are some fence-sitters still to join. I promise this is going to be a fun and easy swap, get in here already :).

An instant, accidental "small"! Just kidding. Though it will most assuredly get included in whatever I make.

I was blessed enough to get an early pairing with BigBangMomma and to do a good deed for another person in the process!  She asked for what kind of journal I was looking for so here goes (PLEASE excuse all the rest of the background mess!):

This is the cover of a journal that was made for me years ago in a swap.  I use it as my gratitude/progress journal now.  I love the size of it.

A photo of the back of the journal.

This is how the papers are in the journal I have now.  I can't add new ones, and that makes me sad.  I am asking for a journal that has a three ring set-up, so I can add more papers to it.

I'm usually not so picky, but this is the EXACT copy of what I need on the papers in the journal.  It is immensely helpful for both me and anyone else that needs to know, what is happening each day and every other day of the week.

Close up of one part of the page.

Close up of another part of the page.

Thank you craftylittlemonkey for being so kind as to help me find someone who would be interested in fulfilling my one and only wish for this swap.

That's such a cute journal cover!

I could swear I've seen a rubber stamp somewhere (sometime in the past decade) with a daily to-do list or day planner format -- so instead of printing the pages off from a computer, you'd ink up this large stamp. That could quickly transform anything into a day planner, which sounds really fun now that I think about it.  :)

Happy Saturday, everyone! Though I'm looking forward to getting partners, I think I'm just as excited at the moment to see whether any last-minute folks will sign up; there has been one happy surprise after another as more people are drawn in...who is next??

Oh my gosh, you girls are terrible at keeping your early partnering under wraps, lol. What happened to being secretive so as not to make the rest of the impatient party crazy with envy?

I have preliminary partners lined up but of course there may be last minute joiners so it's all just a sketch. I know who my own partner will be because I invited her :), and I have her Q, or course, but I'm sitting on getting started until everybody else is ready to go. This weekend is for yard and house work anyhow, can't get distracted and let the man do everything just because I'm feeling crafty, haha.

I'm happy too, and already planning (before I even heard back from my partner). I have to get through the whole day first before I can start to play, but anticipation is nice, too...

Yippeee! Somehow I have to go focus on my job now?!?  :D There are three strikes against me in that regard: I would rather be figuring out what to make Anna; I'm working from home today, AND i see three zany foxes goofing off outside my window. It's a good Monday!

I'm very excited for this swap. I have one thing to finish up before I start on it, but I've definitely been planning in my head and did a little stash hunting to see what things I might find.

I can't wait until packages start rolling in. I think it will be a spectacular gallery since there are such amazing swappers that joined!

I am so happy everybody is pleased with their partners, yay!

Please remember to check in here and post at least once a week so I can see everybody is active and participating, I'm still waiting for some swappers to make their first comments in this discussion thread :). I think questions can help us all stay chatty so here's our first one for this Rainbow gathering, haha :D

What is your favourite colour? It seems that sometimes the one we think it is isn't actually the one we reach for or are naturally attracted to the most. That's how I discovered I truly love orange, all shades of it. I would find myself choosing fiery coloured things from a rainbow hued pile 9 times out of 10 and I just had to acknowledge that I really, really do love the richness and the vibrancy of orange.

I love the oranges and reds the most! I love how bright and cheery they are. My kitchen is black and red. I love how the red pops against the black.

My swap partner and I have started chatting about ideas/wants. I probably won't have time to really craft till this weekend, but I want to go ahead and pick out some extras or components tomorrow or Wednesday.

As to favorite color: purple and green have long been my top favorites. Forest and kelly green and then violet in terms of specific shades.

I've always been on the gothy side so I stuck with everything black and grey, now I'm in love with teal, pink and brighter greens. I do have an orange sweatshirt that I've had for almost 20 years that was my only pop of color.

I'm drawn most to teals and orange. And I've been digging through my fabric piles only to find I have no red... but tons of pink (for someone that used to claim not to like it! lol). I've discovered that I love bright pink especially next to bright orange or yellow. I also really love grey, it's a comforting color to me  :) and I love blues, purples, and greens in jewel tones.

So I'm not sure if I answered your question... lol  :D

I love lots of colors, but I like them to be deep, either dark like jewel tones, or really bright and intense.  I'm not nearly as drawn to pastels or neons.  Most of my wardrobe, I've noticed, is either maroon or green, so I definitely seem to be drawn to those two!  I also really like the combination of white, coral, and teal.

I was looking up quotes to add to LBABB's item, and the very last quote I looked at was perfect for the very place I was going to put it:

"Try to be a rainbow in someone else's cloud." Maya Angelou

I actually believe I am done, but will probably hold off shipping until next week when I should be ready to send my Little Visitor back to Scotland!

CLM, I am in total agreement with you about the orange!  ;D

I do, however, love the entirety of all the colors of the rainbow.

-When my beloved Grandmother passed, a rainbow showed up over her house (there had been no rain, or anything that would have made a rainbow naturally occur).
-My son is gay, and rainbows represent LBGTQ equality (amongst other things)
-My beloved gecko Elizabeth (and other pets before her) have passed over the rainbow bridge.

It just seems to be the symbol of hope for me.

My fabric, yarn, and clothes represent all the colors of the rainbow!  ;D

My main colour to wear is black. Has been for a long time. I used to have a few pieces in navy blue, later brown, and now (i.e. for more than ten years) it's a deep purple and two or three pieces in a green/teal colour (coming from turquoise, turning green/seafoam/sage now). I love to look at colours though, especially rainbow colours. Just not wear them usually.

I tend to go for darker colours or neutral for things like clothes or walls/furnishings, but for decoration, it is all about rainbow - I don't think I can pick one colour  ::)

I do love some combos though - I love chocolate & turquoise and chocolate & pale pink and of course, being a Hufflepuff, yellow and black :D

I've always loved greens of any sort. I think my favorite color right now might be deep magenta though, which is weird because I'm not a fan of purples.

I love most colors, I think my favorite color is a nice saturated navy blue. I love jewel tones too, teal, magenta, the whole 9. I like colors from nature too think off whites, rich browns, sage green, burnt orange. I also love gold too.

I tend to say purple is my favorite, but there are always exceptions, and I am drawn to almost every color except red and yellow (though I am completely okay with those as well; depends on the context). Of the colors/shades I have historically disliked, I'm realizing that there is always a way to pair them with a different color/shade/saturation to make them appealing. It's how colors work together that really draws my eye!

I probably wear the most blue? Except who am I kidding, every piece of clothing I wear has at least four or five colours. Thank the gods I work at a daycare and can get away with it professionally speaking (she says, while thinking of her two room coworkers who wear like 90% black) Let's just go with rainbow in general?

I've always bee partial to deep rich purples. But I've recently discovered I love cerulean and chartreuse. And I always thought I didn't like warm colors, but out of all the little paper arts I've collected over the years my favorites have lots of oranges!

Now that's over, I have the embroidered mandala to finish up and then I can focus exclusively on my idea for this. I'm so excited to see if I can make what I imagine.

Ok kids, Check In Question #2: What's your go to activity for cheering yourself up? Do you go out for something good to eat? Make a coffee date with a friend? Get a manicure?

Sometimes when I feel down, I will curl up in bed and feel sorry for myself for a while. It doesn't last though, I am a restless sort and doing something, anything, is what gets me out of a funk. We moved around a lot when I was growing up but now that I own a big house of my own and I am stuck in one place, moving house is not an option. One big thing I do to shake things up and get the energy moving is to rearrange the house. I'm not talking some chairs either, I mean I empty out all the cupboards and drawers and rearrange EVERY little thing, lol. It makes me feel like I am starting over and I like that. Weird, right?

I like to play video games to relax. :)  Lately I've been OBSESSED with Final Fantasy XIV, which I play online with my brother and other friends.

And when I'm not in a slump, of course crafting helps too!  When I'm feeling down on myself, seeing something cool I made makes me feel better.

To answer check-in question #2:  IDK...right now I've been in a depression for weeks, and sometimes it just takes time for it to run its course.  It seems to be helping me right now that the girls started camp and I need to be up and moving at least twice a day.

I am almost done with the #1 project for this swap, which means I'll have time to make the other thing that I wanted to.  YEA!  BBM deserves to be spoiled, and this item is one of my favorite things to make!

Check in. This is a tough one for me. I've been down lately and struggling to find joy in life. I tend to crochet a lot to let myself get lost in the rhythm of the stitches. It helps but not always. I also try to have date night with the hubby.

Check In Question #2: What's your go to activity for cheering yourself up?

I generally like to watch extremely happy and lighthearted tv and eat fast food. It's the best medicine for me. :)

I watch some of my favorite movies. Talk to friends and play/snuggle with my pups. Have people tell me dad jokes.

I go to the second hand store and shop for treasures, then grab a pizza on the way home.

My go-to is retail therapy... but then I feel down for spending money so it's not a good fix  :P Otherwise I just lay around and wallow in self pity, watch tv, play video games, etc

For me, invariably the first necessity is getting out into nature and walking. Solvitur Ambulando: It Is Solved By Walking. I don't always feel like doing it, but if not I recognize that I'm choosing to be still and feel whatever it is for the time, and I can't get bogged down in how I feel until I've first walked. I have found that a long enough time walking outside will strip away everything, so that there isn't even the identification with a self and good or bad feelings or thoughts; there's just this breathing, living body. I spend too much time in my head and not enough in my body, so learning this lesson has helped me get a better handle on the overactive brain.

My house is pretty small, I don't have a crafting room, and sometimes the noise just gets to me. If I'm really down, I may just hid out in my bedroom for a bit.  This may seem cliche, but I have Craftster art all over my house, and just looking around at it makes me happy.

Oh, the retail therapy. I so hear you. I do stick mostly to the thrift shops to keep spending down, not to mention consumption, but it does nothing for manageable stash. It's next to impossible for me to pass by abandoned treasures, I have a terrible weakness.

calluna I felt that way when we lived in the mountains of BC. If ever you didn't feel amazing, all you needed to do was go outside and look around. Stunning views in all directions, just majestic and magical. It was impossible not to feel great standing in all that glorious nature.

Thanks. I'm not working on a HUGE project right now as I finished the blanket. It's a bit harder to keep going but I'll make it! I've made it this far with it all. I am working on some wonderful smaller things for this swap. I just LOVE a big one to sink my teeth into!

I made a good start last night. I'm missing a few ingredients for the recipe I had in mind, crafting supplies lost in the mess of my studio, sigh. Hopefully I'll be able to find them tonight. It's going to be very hot today though and the AC doesn't make it all the way into the attic where my studio is. It's a sauna up there. Too hot to do much but collect what I need to bring down to another room. I guess we'll see how it goes this evening...

CLM, I'm in the same boat as you, with my craft room in the attic.  Ninety degree days for about a month do not do well with my going up there for supplies; just as is your situation.  It sucks!

Buuuutttt...I already started, and frogged, and started again the other item I wanted to make for BBM.  I'm going to sit on the couch all day and work on it.  Too hot to do anything else and my girls are at camp.  ;)  YEA!

My go to is self care - I go swimming, or meditate, or bake, which is similar to meditation for me, but with a yummy result :D Sometimes I will read instead - anything really that allows my brain to not have to think for a bit!

Think I have my main element planned and supplies gathered :D

One of my favourite ways to brighten up is go to Craftster. Planning to make something for somebody else is always good. (Unless I feel I'm falling behind, then I tend to avoid going online until I catch up...) And definitely beading (or something like that) while listening to an audiobook or a movie. And then reading, just getting lost a story.

I'm making myself aggravated, but I'm frogging the item I'm working on yet AGAIN!   ::)  Quite by accident, while I was working on it last night, it started to take another form, one I haven't used for this particular item, ever.  So I'm going to try it and see how it comes out.  I didn't think I'd have enough time to do anything other than the big item I made, so thank goodness I still do have time.

Ok, part 2 of our check in question: What sort of things might you think up to cheer a friend or loved one who was feeling down?
Are they different than the things you'd do for yourself? Why or why not?

I've been working on my rainbow project this weekend. There's just one major part to complete but it may take as much time as all the rest so far put together, the item is small but ambitious. I had a vision, I needed to let myself just go with it. I'm really liking it so far.

check in 2. I try to make them happy and comfortable. Be that a cup of tea and a shoulder to cry on, or an adventure out in the town. I try to make it something that they like more then what I'm wanting to do to make myself happier.

Cheering up a friend - Depends on who it is... one person I know gets down about not accomplishing enough so I remind them of what they have accomplished (not sure if it helps though?) ...other's I will be a listening ear / venting post, go out for coffee, lunch, etc and just be company if they need  :) I occasionally offer advice depending on the person and situation if I think it will help, but often advice is not helpful to feeling better so I keep it to myself until a better time to share.

To answer check in question #2, I guess it depends on the person and situation.  Anyone who knows me well enough to ask for my advice, I know them well enough to pretty much know if he/she would do well with some loving tough love, advice, hugs, cards in the mail, texts with emojiis to make him/her smile, craft something for that person.  All but one of my close friends live out of state.   :'(

For awhile now I've been the one needing the support and my Craftster friends have really come out and shown how much I am cared for.  You know who you are  :-* ;D!  Thank you!

I crafted a bit today in the car on the way to visit my son, but I had a migraine on the way back, so I just closed my eyes.  But I DO have one more week to craft!

Checkin question - I try to be there for them first, because I know how important that is. Then I'll usually make some sort of sweets and a goodie bag of little things to make them smile.

In terms of check-in questions: for part two it really depends on the person. I try and ask what they need and avoid rushing in to "fix" the situation lol

My project keeps growing instead of shrinking!  :o Usually things turn out smaller than expected, but not this time! I think I'll have to modify my design a little so it doesn't grow too much more, lol  ::) But today it has started looking more like the finished product which is great because now I can see that it will look good  :D I'm excited to get it finished, hopefully on Wednesday?

Eeeeeek, just looked at the calendar and sendouts are coming in just over a week  :o I better get back to it!

Hey, how is everybody doing? Are there any requests for a deadline extension? Tell me now, we're headed out of town for the long weekend so I'll be mostly offline until Monday night.

I finished the big stitching part of mine, there is a bit more sewing to attach things, then some trimming, and also some stamping and glueing, lol. All the crafts are jammed into this tiny project. I'm so excited about how it's coming along. It's really weird, different from anything else I've ever made. I hope my partner will like it, I totally neglected to ask her if she was OK with boobs. And now that I've got you wondering WTH, I'm off to work, hahahah.

It definitely involves a paw print or two, as do most things in my home. When I painted my craft table I had two cats walk across it so I put glitter over the paw prints and I now have forever prints on my table, it the crazy cat lady in me.

And what is CLM making that involves rainbows, boobs, and all-the-crafts in a small space?!? I'm looking forward to this.
LOL, next check-in question could be "Are you okay with boobs?" :D

The only thing is that Monday in the US is a holiday-the PO is closed.

I've had a couple of requests to extend send outs so let's make it Saturday Sept 7 for an 4 extra days. I hope that works for everybody. I am nearly finished with my project but partner and I are exchanging some side items and I just thought about a few more I could include but would need to find in the mess I call the studio, haha. Sorry for the radio silence this week - work has been just ridiculous this week, meaning several nights of bad sleep! But now have a whole weekend with absolutely nothing planned, except a visit to some kittens a friend has rescued - 4 of them :D

Have been crafting a bit and think I should be done on time, but nice to know I have a couple of extra days if I really need them.

Check in - depends on the friend, sometimes hugs and listening ear and sometimes tough love and pep talk, but either way, alongside coffee, cake and lots of love.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand DONE!  :D Took me longer then expected but that's just because I don't like crafting when my kid is sleeping (in fear of waking him  ::) ). But my husband finally had some free time to take over for me and I finished it moments ago  :D I probably won't do extras this time around because the main craft took so long and I need to get started on another swap... but I feel great having it done early! Looking forward to delivering it in person ;D

The extension is a great idea, I got stuck at work late Saturday so I couldn't make it to the post office in time and I barely leave my house during the week.

I hope to finish up the last details tonight & tomorrow and then pack up a box of extras partner and I agreed on. Right now I gotta wrangle my complete rat's nest curly hair into something work appropriate and get some biznass clothes on my bod and get outta here!

Oops! I tried to post several days ago and it looks like my post never made it. (I was out of KC and up to Minniapolis for the weekend to work.

I'm close but not finished yet. I'm going to see how the work week goes and if I can get it sent by Friday. Liking how things are turning out though.

I've been keeping in communication with my partner, BBM, so she knows I haven't forgotten about her.

I'm putting on the two tiny finishing touches to her item, and then everything is ready to mail.

In very sad news, my older DD's gecko, Rainbow, (her photo is in this swap thread), passed away this weekend.  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Ok, since send outs are in just a couple days this is the last check in. How is everybody doing, will you be on time to send? And for everybody, including the early senders, are you happy with what you ended up making? Did it inspire you to create something for yourself?

I haven't had even one minute to finish my item, argh. Every night we get home from work then immediately run out to do errands. On Friday we're taking our new pop-up tent trailer to a local conservation area, I have a work thing there Saturday afternoon so we decided to camp for the weekend with the kids. Tonight is the only time I will have to craft, thank goodness it's nearly complete. Just need glue drying time, photographing time, wrapping time, and time to go to the post office. It sounds like a lot, doesn't it? Wish me luck! Good luck to you all!

I am really happy with what I made. I have been busy with other swaps, but did complete August's flower of the month stitchalong. And, if you've ever been my partner and seen how red isn't my favorite, you'll appreciate that I recently bought myself some maroon (which is school colors from my hs and my kids school) pants, but is out of my normal range for pants!

Have fun camping clm!

As you know, I am thrilled with what BBM sent me!  :D

DH just mailed out her package this morning.  The PO said it should be there on Monday.  I hope it gets to her a day early, like mine do, and she gets it on Saturday!

It was so much fun crafting in rainbow colors!

I'm happy with what I sent.... if it'll ever get there.  Went to the wrong country and apparently is getting sent back to me?  Guess Edel has to wait until it gets figured out.
I love the project I made and my 13 year old liked it so much she immediately started making her own -- hers is excellent too!  Told her we could get her a craftster account so she could show off, but my partner had to receive hers first.  So she is dying for the slow post office too.

Also, even though I am done with this swap, I did paint with rainbow colors today!

I'm happy with what I made, though it turned out differently from how I had intended it. Basically, mistakes in finishing required some overall redesign. I'm also rather happy that the whole package came out of existing stash.  ;D Plus, it's hard to be displeased when making rainbows! Most of my projects this year have been somber or monochrome, so it felt really good to bring out all the colors -- and get some swapping in!

I'm happy with what I made too, and doing good, just so tired from working too much and not walking good right now. Also nearly ready to send, just need to pack up and find that card...

I completely missed posting said rainbowy goodness calluna made for me, I love it! (This work think is really interfering with my Craftster life! And everything else really, my little one turned six yesterday, and I only got to see her in the morning. Anyway, I'll be back later this morning after the kids are out of the house posting pictures.)

Ah I wouldn't worry, it will get here in the end. Same thing happened to me once. The mail folk mixed up the to and from and my package went to the US (I think ) and then got delivered back to me.

And your daughter should certainly show off what she made, there is no need to wait.

LBB yes, I am much better already, thank you! I just sprained or strained something on Tuesday when I ran to catch a tram (which it seems I haven't done in quite a while, and won't be doing again in a hurry) to get to work in time. I'm just feeling a bit overwhlemed at the moment with everything happening at once, but not really anything happening. It seems I'm just running everywhere at the moment, racing against time.

Whoo, it looked like a mess for a bit but I've got it under control now, thank you all for being so super supportive and offering to help out. I love you people <3.

My package went to the wrong address and then back to Canada, hopefully at my local postal kiosk tonight so I can resend.
An international parcel looks like it is not gonna make it out of a crazy back and forth postal vortex of doom. Very sad that, but I have something I was already half way through making for that person that will be perfect for this swap and I am SO excited about this little push to finish it up.
One more parcel is up in the air but it's covered.

So there ya go, all good. Thanks again folks. You are all just the greatest :).

CLM, good thing your package at least made it back to your post office for resending. My first masterboard package to smmarrrt never reached her!

Everybody has sent! Including me, again. My package got returned to my house today. At least it's safe and not lost, and I didn't have to pay return shipping so that's good.
I also decided to angel for Edel myself because I had things I thought she would like and I wanted to make something from her pins anyhow. It came together over 2 evenings and turned out pretty well, I tweaked the pattern and am excited to share what I did once it's arrived.
Everybody cross your fingers for safe and speedy deliver of all the packages still travelling!
