Title: Eyeball pincushion, pic heavy
Post by: craftylittlemonkey on April 28, 2019 06:12:25 AM
I needed something for the Asheville Adventure (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=454476.0) white elephant gift exchange & thought this project would be fun.

So many things happened over the weekend that my memory is a blur, I think craftADDchick ended up with it.

Very Big Jen (https://www.etsy.com/shop/verybigjen) has a step-by-step photo tutorial (https://www.flickr.com/photos/verybigjen/sets/72157594386689892/) on flickr. I've made them before but like usual I do it my own way.
The bottle cap I used fit these heavy metal washers which help weight it down so pulling pins out is easier.

I tried to mimic Jen's intricate iris stitching, it's pretty darn challenging to get things even at that size, wow.

Looks so weird without lashes!

I don't know what it is I find so appealing about eyeballs, they are just so neat-o.

That turned out super fun and weird! Just right.

I have had some fun semi-stalking that Asheville Adventure the last few months. I'm pretty jealous.

Don't be jelly, invite us to your neck of the woods! We've all proven we're willing to travel, I bet it's nice where you live. If you can't get away we'll come to you :).

Now there's an idea! It's not that I can't get away, it's that this year I'm getting away to Ireland! And I'm in cahoots to meet EdelC while I'm there! But now I am going to keep my ear to the ground and my eyes peeled for a good option for accommodations for a group. Hmmmmm.

Now who haz teh envy?! Ack, I want to go with you!

Yes, please keep an eye out for potential locations. There's chatter about Michigan & Hawaii going on too. We'll go anywhere, it is so much fun. My man loved it too, we both had an awesome time :).

Yes!  Hawai'i Summer of 2020.  Mountains and Clouds who lives on Oahu will be helping me plan this one.  It will be epic!

This came out so cool!  And your iris stitching is perfect.
