Title: Mandala Stone :)
Post by: stonesoft on August 02, 2018 09:29:11 PM

It's been almost a year since I started painting rocks to try and combat depression. I never would have guessed that making hundreds of tiny dots could be so peaceful :)

So far I've only painted rocks for friends, and this challenge seemed like a great opportunity to paint a rock for someone I've never met to find!

Beautiful and I like how some of the dots are slightly 3-dimensional (thicker paint drops?) How do you get the dots laid out so symmetrically?  Do you draw a template/guide down on the stone first?

Thank you so much everyone! :)

No template or guidelines; I just start from the centre dot and work my way out! I've started using different sized sticks for dotting instead of brushes, which definitely helps to keep the circles a consistent size. The thicker paint is due partly to my random assortment of craft paints - some are a lot cheaper and clumpier than others  :P

This is stunning! And thanks for the tips on how to make one. I love how soothing it is to look at, and I'm sure it would feel lovely to run your fingers over all the perfect little dots. Love it!
