Do you love making Teesha Moore-style patches? Have you always admired them but haven't yet caught the TM bug? Well, this could be the swap for you!

In this round of the TM Patch Swap, you will be crafting for 1 or 2 partners (first time swappers will be limited to 1 partner) and from 1-3 patches (you and your partner should agree on the exact number).

Also, you will have the option of exchanging a TM Patch Supply kit with your partner (contents of kit may include: floss, fabric, embellishments {buttons, beads, ribbons, charms, etc}, poly-fil, etc.).

Let's keep this swap simple and limit it to the sending of patches and kits (if you love sending extra things, consider adding those as part of a kit  :) ).

There are lots of inspirational patches from previous swaps, so check out some of the galleries here:

I just sent in my questionnaire! And, I never checked the send-out date, but now I'm glad to see that it falls after April vacation, which is good in case I get backed up with school-related work.

Thanks so much for organizing a new round, Inselaeffchen!

I made sure that the send-out date is far away from Easter... as I know that family commitments during April holidays can take over everything and no crafting is getting done... :o

Yay, Ludi! If you're in, I guess I can't pass it up either, even though I was determined to limit myself to only one swap to start back with. I'll send in my questionnaire shortly.

You can always limit to 1 partner and 1 patch this time round?

Hoping some people are in the mood for making smaller patches! I just went through my inventory, and my wall art is close to done, it just needs some smaller patches to bridge the gaps.  :)

I havenít assembled my collection for my classroom wall hanging, but I know Iíll need some gap fillers! Iím getting close to being ready to assemble it! If we get partnered, maybe we can swap fillers! Iíd have to add a ďcategoryĒ to my questionnaire... :)

Oh. I WILL participate. It was just a whining post cause I would prefer to do two partners, two patches. But I have two major events at work I am in charge of, a race I have to travel to and it's tax season, so a couple weekends will be occupied with children. (My bf is a cpa and I am in charge of the hooligans on our weekends.) And that doesn't count my volunteer work that is emotionally draining. I am pained even contemplating April quite frankly.

For me, March is the busy month this year. April is always filled with with annual time-consuming STUFF and I just take it in stride, but March is usually fairly quiet. Not in 2018. >:(

But, sitting and working on a patch is a great way to forget about some of the madness that March brings... even if it's only for a short while :)

That comment still makes me laugh. I was so confused! But if that's what you can do with drab, your "bright" must be blindingly fun!

I want to make this swap so badly I'm using the signup deadline as a reward for finishing a home project. I can't wait to be back in the groove with yall!

I recently made my first TM patch. I wasn't even sure what they were, I had to email TM to get a definition. She sent me to her Youtube video tutorial. I was shocked to see how low the number of watchers was, since I know everyone on here loves them. They were fun to make, I might sign up. I have to get my bills organized first. Its been on my to do list since last July, lol

I should watch that Teesha Moore YouTube video again. It's been years, and I remember it was wonderfully to-the-point (as her videos always are) and made you feel "I could do that!" It's in four short segments (as was the nature of YouTube back then.)

abbeeroad made me a TM patch journal cover in a swap (I forget which one.) and it is so frigging gorgeous that I never put it away since I got it!  I have it on display and when I go to visit a particular friend that's out of state, I bring it with me to draw pictures of things I see there.

I also have a couple of gallon ziplock bags full of completed TM patches-mostly ones I made, but some from these swaps-that I want to make into a large pocketbook at some point.

I asked for more patches in the 'Rainbow Swap' I'm in, and if that's what my partner sends me, I'll have even more nifty patches to add!

I also learned a new crafty technique last night at a craft night I went to with my DD.  I think I'm going to try and make a patch with it for my partner.

Waiting till partners are assigned is getting really difficult...... :'( ::)

I would really like to try a photo transfer (with either modge podge or gel medium), and then stitch on top. For the right partner, it'd be so fun!

You guys are so fun! ha ha

Joyful--I have often printed out pictures even on regular paper and just stitched on top using my machine...of course, tearing off the paper or washing it off is a pain...I have since purchased printable solvy....I am doing a large machine embroidery piece of the White Walker in GoT!

There are just so many techniques to try with these little pillows!!

Yes, I do machine stitch over printed paper images, but have learned to give myself enough time to pick out all the bits.  I like dissolvable solvy for hand embroidery (because I'm a miser with the sheets). It's pretty bangin, though.

Today I tried some tester images with Modge Lodge Fabric and Liquitex gel medium, and I can't wait to see how it turns out! Assuming they do, I want to make little TM Patches for me!

Last round, quaggy used a light box technique with watercolor pencils, ink, and stitching, so I added that to my To Do list as well!.

So many great techniques! I am definitely curious about the gel medium technique. I'm still a bit afraid to try free-motion embroidery images on a patch, but they are great little pieces to experiment on, so maybe I can give it a try soon.

Sorry for the long sign-up period, everyone - RL is quite busy right now and I thought giving a bit longer for the sign-ups helps me running my first ever swap! ;) Not that long to go though.

I *could* maybe change the sign-up deadline to this weekend though? And give the other week to the crafting time? Not sure if that's allowed?

Hi everyone, it's been awhile, but I might sign up. I miss doing the TM patches. I do hope the sign up stays open till the 24th as I have some things to get done before I can sign up. I wouldn't mind making smaller patches either. I'm not up on new techniques. But I'll try some things. I'll just do 1 partner & 1 to 2 patches. That'll be good. Hopefully I will sign up soon. ☺

after checking out the tutorial and info pages listed (as I am a total newbie to this craft) I realized I did not have anything remotely like batting for the innards.
One trip to Goodwill yesterday produced a nice 99 cent very thin fleece blanket which should suffice nicely!

blu - I cannot believe you haven't tackled TM's yet!  I can't wait to see what you bring!

That is a great way to use up bits of fleece, corduroy, etc. As long as there is a bit of "padding", you can even use layers of fabric...I like these because it helps to use fabrics and thread and tiny bits of ribbon, lace, etc. Bet you will have fun!

That is a great way to use up bits of fleece, corduroy, etc. As long as there is a bit of "padding", you can even use layers of fabric...I like these because it helps to use fabrics and thread and tiny bits of ribbon, lace, etc. Bet you will have fun!

clm has used just a piece of felt. It doesn't take much. Although I keep batting on hand for projects like this.

How is this your first time running a swap? So weird. I believe it is allowed; but you could always send a question into the mods. I keep coming back here, looking to see if it is time for partners....as a very busy bee the next 30 days, I would appreciate a long crafting time.  ;D

I've only done tons of swaps... but never really organised one myself. ;) Just never happened. Only been co-organiser once, but was never called to help out Audania1. ;)

I see what I can do about sign-up times.

I'm going thru my fabrics to see what I would like to use.  I save every bit of fabric, so this type of project comes in handy...it uses them all up!

Ok, that's our sign-up closed now.

I've matched 2 pairs (easy ones due to "no international shipping" and a request prior to the swap), the rest will be hopefully done tomorrow evening (GMT).

Can I post the pairs already or do you all prefer to get the info at the same time?

I'll hopefully have some time while the twins are at Rainbows (that's the Daisies equivalent in the UK I believe).

Otherwise tonight after bedtime, as hubby is out tonight. But definitely today.

Sharalee - you should have your partner already (you and jenleahlynn were the only ones left after I paired bluepaisan & LadybugsAndBumblebees who opted not to send abroad - and who only wanted 1 partner).

So excited with both partners! Waving to say hi!  Working on prayers flags at the moment and lucky me I have 1 partner that is. Also my partner in that swap.  May try to wrangle it all at once and send both at the same time.  Hmm is that doable?????pnly if I get off here and get my rear in gear.  Lol thatís not happening as I am doing a little stalking first.  I swapped with my other partner last time and I had so much fun with her themes and the patches that she made for me.  Super excited to start planning.

the first side of my patch is fairly plain in comparison so that took only the first day of crafting.
The second side is chock full and I work in it every day. I even bring it to work when I do companionship with my favorite elder patient for four hours at at time.
She held it up the other day and looked puzzled until she realized she was holding it upsidedown.
the more I work on that side, the more worried I get that it is not turning out quite right. But I am keeping the faith underneath it all, that the end product will be good.

blu-whatever you make will turn out perfect!  Don't be hard on yourself!

AIMR-I have a canvas bin that was made for me in a swap by a Craftster member, that I keep all my TM patch supplies in.  I'm going to be visiting a friend for a week soon, so I've been gathering the fabrics/patches/embellishments together to work on during the visit.  At some point you were very generous and sent me a pile of squares of fabric for TM patches!  I uncovered it just the other day, and was as excited over it as I was when you first sent it to me!  ;D

blu-I re-read your post...you do understand that TM patches are one sided?  The back of the patch does not have to be pretty or look like anything, just the front.  I'm concerned that you are making more work for yourself than is necessary.

ha ha ha...I actually made mine nice and tidy (sort of) this round...I think it is harder for me to do since I don't really plan out all the steps, just the front design...just like TM patches, I kinda like the messy backs because I like seeing the process and chaos appeals to me ... lol...you guys are so silly

As I had mentioned a few posts back, I rediscovered a pile of squares of fabric that AIMR had sent me when I was first making TM patches.  There are SO MANY different colored ladybug ones!!!!!!!  There is also one in particular that "spoke" to me....it just HAD to be made into a patch for blupaisan!  I am loving how it came out, also b/c I took great care to choose a complimentary backing fabric (for myself, I don't bother matching the back to the front fabric).

Blu, Iím not sure if Iím interpreting what you are doing wrong or if you are doing something different than a ďregularĒ TM patch.

You should have a bottom layer of fabric, some sort of filler for the middle, and a top layer of fabric. The top layer is the one you embellish, and it doesnít matter what the back of it looks like. You also embroider abound the edges, like you see in the past gallery photos. You donít need to attach the two individual patches to each other.

Iím going to adore whatever you make me, I just donít want you to do more work than you have to or waste any of your supplies.

Got my little pillows sewn together yesterday. I'll be working on them over Easter but probably won't send till closer to send outs as I'm in another swap where I'll be sending out of country and I want to get them all out at the same time. The post office near me doesn't ship I international so I have to drive 25 min to the next one. Yikes! The crafting and swapping make it totally worth it :)

I swear that I am not stalking JC.  ;D

I put together the patches last night. Need to pull thread for the initial stitching and pack them for travel. I'm going on a trip later in the week and want to be able to stitch some. I won't have much down time, but I always try to have something on hand to keep me busy.

Found the batting. And my cross stitch skeins... However, might have a look at my mum's for fabric..

Oh, when is the April 1st stuff going away? Or is that a full month thing? "Prainbowh twinkle" is quite weird... irritating... ;)

I feel like a slacker!  Have magaged to make plans for and completed 1 of 2 kits.  Will not get back to these before the weekend as I am working on a quilt for a co-worker.  Patches are being tossed around in my brain and hope to have final plans by Friday night.  Good thing I do my best work under pressure and close to deadlines.  It helps to have no obligations, kids at home or have to answer to anyone except while at work!

I was working on a swap for another group, and had to start over. It's a relief to have that finished and in the mail today. I'm glad to be on spring break this week as well. I've been on pinterest for ideas, so now I can go through my fabric stash and see what I need. Maybe I'll organize a bit as well. We have a road trip planned next weekend so that will give me lots of time for stitching.

I spent part of this weekend finishing up some things for other swaps. Tomorrow after work I will get the extras out for the bits on the patches so I can work on them when I'm on lunch at work this week. I expect to be done well before send outs. :) I'm hoping to send by next Monday or Wednesday at the latest.

While visiting blu this week, I have been working hard on my own TM patches. Iíve completed many (sewing together the fabric and batting, and around the outside) and itís so much fun!  Iím blessed that I have a generous and talented friend who will make the attached patches into a pocketbook when I have enough. Blu and I also visited a lot of thrift stores too, and I found a plain denim pocketbook. Iím thinking that I might make more patches and attach them to that pocketbook as well. I also have a ďregularĒ manufactured bearded dragon patch that I want to put on it. Iím so excited,

sounds like everyone is making great progress, looking forward to seeing them in the gallery. We had a road trip this weekend so I knew I would have lots of time to stitch. A flat tire gave me 2 extra hours at the auto shop, but I have 2 patches completely done, and starting on the 3rd!

construction question- to you create the pillow first, or decorate first? my pillow looked square before i started stitching, but now it's a bit wonky. maybe I overstuffed?

Create the pillow first. If you watch TM's YT videos on this, you can see her construction. I use batting to get around that sort of issue, but if you use stuffing you have to make sure you are redistributing it as you stitch.

I went away on a trip where I had zero time to stitch. I put my first stitch in the first patch this morning on the train.

thanks for the tip. I'm trying one using a scrap of fleece that I had, and it seems to be going better, not super fluffy but enough to add dimensions.

Although TM specifies polyfill, I use quilt batting. I seem to recall someone else using felt. I think there is both what she originally showed, and then all the different takes on it. Each one has its own benefits.

Sometimes I stitch first. Sometimes I pillow then stitch. Then I do all the quilty stitching to give texture. Sometimes, I don't quilty stitch at all!

I was very worried about getting it 'right' the first round, but I think everyone has a different flavor. I am fascinated by how they are made and just love how soft and textural they all are. They're like little pieces of fiber art for your hands. I'm facinated by seeing how they are made. Just go crazy, and you'll be fine!

I totally agree with joyful clover. Last time around I did a ton of stitching before making the pillows and this round I'm doing the opposite. It's whatever bobs your bouey lol. I absolutely LOVE seeing all the gorgeous and fun patch art. It's incredibly inspiring.

On another note, I think I'm only a few patches short of being able to make my sewing machine cover!

In actual crafting business, I've completed one patch for each partner and I'm half way done on another for each. I'm still hoping to send on Wednesday.

If I am embellishing, I like doing that first...I also use batting, so all of the little stitches I do like a quilt...both sides showing the stitching...I used to try to hide the knots but I like them...I also love the "messy" look of the backs...I really think anyway they are put together is fine with me...I love all of the colors, stitching and ideas, even the very simple ones...I make a lot of mine with a lot less detail...a button, a flower, or just stitching...they are addicting!

CLM has used felt before. If I were to use felt, I would probably use two sheets.

I make my front and batting to the actual size of the "canvas" I want to stitch on, then make the back about two inches wider around. You can get away with less though. I then put those together as a sandwich. I usually use solvy for my design, so I will baste stitch the solvy to the sandwich and then hoop it. I stitch everything up and the last thing I do is the border.

But the fun in doing the swap is seeing how everyone else is doing it. After doing it once, you tend to lean toward a particular method/style.

Hahaha! I was just popping on here to say that I finally have all of my supplies so I can make my patches starting tomorrow :) I had something at home that I needed, but couldn't find, so I picked up a low-budget version of it down here. I'm on vacation this week, so I can get my patches done so I can send on Friday. I'm traveling on Saturday, so I won't be able to get to the PO.

It's sewed down so maybe try to take the glue part off. You'll understand when you see it. Thanks for being my partner & "Inselaeffchen" Thanks for organizing! This was lots of fun! ☺

Well done, craftADDchick!!

I'm officially going to be late. Sorry, craftADDchick, Audania1 and alwaysinmyroom. Stupid thing called "life" didn't cooperate with craftiness over Easter Break, and this week I'm battling with nagging headaches (yesterday and today it seems - had to cancel both exercise classes yesterday). I'm planning on doing the pillow stage tonight/tomorrow and embellish on Saturday, so the packages won't go out until Monday.

So sorry again. :(

We've been helping my parents move, and hopefully tommorow will be the last load. The upside is I've had time to stitch while driving back and forth. So a little late but not much.  Life too is my excuse. Worked 12 hour days this last week, my mothers hot water heater went out and that was a mess finding one to fit the space. Trying to work on my patches - Miss Martian is off school with sore throat (but now is more bored than anything and wants my attention). Managed to do one pillow ready to get stuff on it. 5 more to do. :o

Also catching up on the sent/received spreadsheet ... I've now adjusted it so it makes more sense to me.

Don't worry, crafty-becky ... life happens (oh, don't I know it!!) and we're all ok here. I would say all is ok in our swap as long as you keep us updated.

Wulf--I wish I could see one of the operas your are involved in...I used to go as a child with my dad and have such fond memories...

Ah well..

Doing the list and figuring out what color coding makes sense is probably my least favorite part of organizing.  ::)

I received from "Jenleahlynn" I love them & so little, they'll fit nicely on my bag I'm making & other things too. I love the owl one, but the other 2 are great too. So detailed. Thanks so much for being my partner. It was so much fun!  I will put It in the Gallery soon. ☺

I just realized that I haven't left a single comment in the gallery (on either of the swaps I'm in)! No wonder it isn't popping up in my "Replies to Your Posts" thread :P

Thanks everyone for being such great swappers! I'm updating the spreadsheet today and will give feedback for everyone who has sent & received over the weekend.

craftADDchick, Audania1 & alwaysinmyroom - I have finished 2 patches already and the other 4 will be done and all 6 will be sent out tomorrow!! I'm really so sorry for the delay.  :'( :o

No problem!  I am busy arranging my collection from past swaps to see what I want to make...I am thinking of a tote bag, but I don't want to line it because I love the backs as well as the front...I might make a see thru vinyl lining instead...has anyone done that?

Lining it with clear vinyl (maybe you could use the iron on type if it wouldn't damage the patches) is a good idea. It would keep things from getting caught on any stitches on the inside.

I came home late from work today, tired and cranky, to find a package from gala_apples. I had sent her a book on embroidery stitches to fill out the package so it would be sent as a package and be trackable, and in return she just sent me TWO MORE patches! I'm gobsmacked! Pics in the Gallery as soon as I've had my dinner.

Ok, one more package to arrive (AIMR - I'm sure it will be here soon) and then we are finished.

I was thinking maybe starting another round mid July or August? What are your thoughts on that?

Yes! Iíll be on summer break, and aside from 2 weeks of teacher workshops, I have plenty of time to craft!
