It could be a painted rock, fridge magnet, pin-back button, Teesha Moore type patch, an ATC or 4X6 piece of art, a change purse, keychain, pendant, merit badge, a little hoopla or a painting, anything really. I would love to join this. I just need to think of some specific affirmations. The only one off the top of my head is

"Don't try to paint my rainbow grey"

which is a lyric from one of my favourite bands.

I totally and completely love it, that is awesome! LOL, how perfect for you and for me too, the bright rainbow gals :).

I started a pinterest board if anybody wants to take a gander: https://www.pinterest.ca/teejaystitchery/affirmations/

ETA that song is GREAT! It was so kid friendly too, I'm going to play it for our small people and try to counter act the absolute garbage they listen to at school OMG how did music get so terrible?
I'll have to check out the rest of their music but even the video for that song is excellent:

Will try to sign up this weekend if I feel I have a handle on my other projects.

I plan to march on Saturday 1/20/18 with all the women in either San Francisco or Oakland so I will be photographing all of the positive signage I see.

Welcome back, LimeRiot!
Smarrt, I love that you are going on the march!  Perhaps you can share with us some of the positive signage you see?

I said I wasn't going to join another swap right now, but I NEED this swap, so here I am!

(CLM, believe it or not, I got a few tiny extras while out and about this weekend...is it ok to send them to my partner-making sure my partner is ok with it, of course?)

I used to consider myself an eternal optimist, but somewhere down the line of adulthood, I have lost that. I have a Pinterest board I created called It's My Life filled already with positive affirmations to help me get back on track. My theme this year is I Can. I should join with at least 1 partner.

Wow! Thanks for sharing that video. This is gonna be my new theme song.

I'm gonna get my questionnaire filled out today. I've been working on a pin board as well. This swap couldn't be happening at a better time!

Another song I really like by USS is called Yo Hello Hooray:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kblj3AEjykM

It's a song about dealing with being a cynical adult and having nostalgia for when you were an optimistic younger person, and trying to get back to that spot.

Anyone else have good, positive songs to share? My problem is I mostly listen to rock and alternative, which are genres built on angst and heartbreak.

Make Them Gold- Chvrches
The World's Not Falling Apart- Dar Williams

gala-apples, I played the videos for the my young lady, she approves and is amazed us geezers have any sort of good taste in tunes, ha ha.

I was watching the TV show, 'Let's Make a Deal' with DH last night, and a contestant said something that I really related to.  She said:  "As long as I can look up, I can get up."

Whoever my partner is for this swap, I LOVE this quote!

So far it's variable, some people want 1, some more, some are flexible.

Is your pinterest filling up with affirmations? Mine sure is! It's funny how many of them aren't really positive though. Like "Understanding is an art. And not everyone is an artist." I found that one kind of sad and limiting. Don't get me wrong, I like snark and irony and all that jazz but when I'm going for positive I mean POSITIVE! Positive with a negative twist is just, well, not all that positive at all :/.

I learned this from my mom years ago and it took a long, long time, like five years of reminding myself, before it became automatic and sometimes I still have to reword what I've said. She taught me that when you say something like "Don't forget your keys." what you have actually said is a negative statement. Don't. Negative. The action word is the opposite of what you wanted too. Forget. Negative. The simple turn around for a statement like that is "Remember your keys." Positive with the action you are hoping for. Seems simple enough, right? Once you start to pay attention to little things like that you realize how much of what is intended to be positive is actually the reverse! I am trying to focus my attention on seeing the bright side, no twist of lemon to sour the sweetness, you know what I mean? There's a time and a place for all feelings and ideas, I am being mindful to stay focused on where I mean to be so my natural Capricorn practicality can be tempered by a little more joyous levity.

Anyhow, those are my thoughts of the day :). I hope you are all having a bright, shiny one. XO

Welcome WiccadWitch and first time swapper wrenboldlygoes! Happy to have you both, this is going to be awesome :).

Thank you craftylittlemonkey !

I'm excited to have such a lovely first swap here on craftster.

I really see what you're saying about really being positive - I'm going through old quotes boards and so many are actually not that positive at all - the ones for this swap will hopefully spur a new positivity : )

I'm cool with whatever people want their affirmations to say, sometimes you do need a kick in the pants to motivate you, it's true. I think it's worth it to take note of the things that are entirely uplifting though because sometimes you need that too :). There are no rules about what you'd like to make or receive, I'll laugh at any sassy sayings right along with y'all :D.

Post by: dharma_rebel on January 19, 2018 06:35:22 AM
I moved all my snark to another board. I decided that sometimes I need that but right now I only need to see uplifting.

Last year I removed the word "but" from my vocabulary and replaced it with "and". I noticed a friend of mine doing it and in talking to her about it she pointed out that when you say "but" you negate everything you said in the first half of the sentence.

I love the idea of turning a negative phrase around and making it a positive statement. I think I'll try working on that this year!

dharma_rebel that is a great positive language change. Little things like that make a big difference over time in my opinion. You switch from always looking for a reason things won't work to finding multiple solutions. That's awesome for personal life and work, it turns you into a motivational leader for everybody around you. Like your friend did for you! It's nice when positivity is contagious :).

PerfectlyBohemian, Mlsocci74, fatewineroses, zcrafter, gala_apples and Smmarrt, (boy I LOVE that new feature ;D) I hope you will all join and make my first time organizing extra special (no pressure, lol!) but I also hope that even if you don't you'll still make something for yourself to get you through the February blahs. Even people who love winter sometimes start to long for spring by then. I'm looking forward to leaves and flowers, birds, bees, thoughts of gardening, and no more salty slush all over my boots, the porch, the front hall way, ugh.

There's nothing stopping us from starting to craft the item for ourselves straight away. I am reorganizing the kitchen and dining room today and have made a BIG mess but tomorrow I think I'll make something for me. I have ideas and it will get me in a positive mood for crafting for my partner :).

ETA did you see the cute little cross stitch posted today? I really like it, it looks like a great quicky:

I was not going to join this swap because my life is SOOOOOOO busy right now. I am currently in my last year of getting my Masters in Autism. I just came off a 2-month break and cannot seem to get back into the swing of things again.

I need help being positive. I have been told that I am a nice person. However, I am very negative in life. I have been trying for years to change but that is easier said then done. I find myself always saying "but" or "what if". I am not good with change or stressful situations. When I am done with my M.A degree, I am going to get in my car and drive for a week then take another week to drive back. I am not making plans to go anywhere; wherever I end up is where I will be going.
Anyways, long story shortÖ.Iím IN!!

Witchhippie-I GET YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I am the same exact way, and I ADORE your idea of traveling for a week!

I think most of us do things such as saying when we do something wrong: "Well, that was stupid!"  A very smart friend of mine pointed out that saying those things, even if it's involuntary, is negative.  I've been trying to stop that and when I do say it, I correct myself.  "Well, that was stupid!" can turn into "That was silly!" or "I can learn from this." or any number of things.

I have done it in front of my kids and I think it's a TERIFFIC way for them to learn!

dharma-rebel, I just read about what your friend said about using the word "but".  I heard the same thing in therapy, only the person worded it much more bluntly:  "Anything after the word 'but' is bullshit!"  ;D ::)

There's an improv theater game (at which I am terrible!) called "yes, and..." where you have to start every response with the words "yes, and..." so that you're building on whatever crazy thing your fellow actor(s) just said instead of negating it.  Probably a good mindset exercise, too.

Sadly, most of the "but"s in this house at the moment end with things like "...you still need to [get dressed/finish your dinner/etc] first."  I'm not sure this comes across as any more positive to the almost-5-year-old-mind when you sub in an "and" instead.

Welcome to the swap Rosie1981! Glad to have you :).

LadybugsAndBumblebees today my energy is coming from cups of coffee :P.

I suggest you all take a look at each other's pin boards if you're wanting for inspiration. Having looked over all of them I can say there is some wonderful stuff to see. It's funny because most of us have a fair amount of snark and sass too, guess us spicy gals are all looking for a little sugar to mix in with the salt right about now ;).

I know that "extras" are just that, "extras".  Buttttttt........

I just got back from my local Target and their dollar spot has a few lovely $1 items that fit this swap perfectly!

Just sayin'.... ;D

LadybugsAndBumblebees I'm totally flexible about extras being negotiated between partners, check in with yours on Thursday :).

We haven't got Target here in Canada, they tried to open some stores but didn't offer the bargains they do in the states so they all failed and closed. There are some funny empty buildings with giant red concrete balls scattered about the country now, lol.

Welcome gala_apples! Your pin board is lovely :).

Today and tomorrow for signups, we are up to 15 participants and many of you want multiple partners. This is turning out to be a huge swap, the gallery is going to have a whole lot of happy in it :).

Hello dear crafting companions :). How lovely to have you participate, officially or unofficially (Ludi, edelC, Mlsocci74 ;)) in the first swap I've organized, thank you! I have sent out partner information. I hope I have matched you up well & you'll feel inspired to create something wonderfully positive for each other.
Remember this is for only one small item (about 2 hrs crafting time) & a card or note if you wish. Please negotiate any extras with your partner, some people have chosen multiple partners & may want to stick with the simplicity of just 1 item. Let's keep this easy, relaxing & fun!

Remember that you are also crafting for yourself as you would for a dear friend, because that's just what you are! Your own most beloved soul-mate. Make yourself something worthy of that :). I've started a wonderful book and course called the Artist's way that illustrates the importance of nourishing and caring for your own inner childlike artist. Be as kind to yourself as you would to any partner, you need and deserve that love too.

To help myself stay rooted in positivity I've gone through my pins and deleted anything that had even one negative word in it, things like don't, can't, didn't, never, no, etc. It's amazing how those things seep into an otherwise positive thought. I'm paying attention to how I lift myself up and also how I cut myself down. Right now, I want the lift and only the lift. I know this swap is going to be AWESOME!

Partner's are on the first page, please check that everything matches up for you. Please contact me about anything at all.

Alright! I got all of my partner's questionnaires and they are all super open. I think I came up with a pretty good idea - I need to get a few supplies and then I'm hoping the local art studio has open studio hours tomorrow night. I know they have something I need to make this idea work.

I'm glad everybody is happy with their matches, I seem to have made one error partnering someone from the UK with someone from the US. Oops, Canadian flub, what can I say? I'm fixing that now...
Please double check that everything is correct for you in your messages and also on the first page where I've linked everybody, let me know if there is anything at all not perfect and I'll get right on it.

Happy note: I am nearly finished my first item and I really, really like it. I figured out a way to do something a bit complicated in less than half the time. I took process pics and will share when it's received because I have a feeling some of you will be quite interested in the results. Being the organizer I got to see what everybody makes and wants and the craft I'm doing was a stand out item in both categories.

Yay partners!  (I didn't realize I'd reached the status of being exciting to craft for!)

I'm probably going to finish up some other projects before starting on this swap; I'm presently in machine embroidery withdrawl, since my embroidery machine is in the shop getting disassembled to remove the piece of thread that got wound all through the gears.  But* the repair shop is also a quilting & embroidery store which had the dark green variegated thread I'd been looking for.

*is it an accepted use of "but" to amend a negative statement with a positive add-on?

Your embroidery machine is being fixed (yay!) AND the shop had thread you wanted (double yay!). LOL

Hair clown, oh my... what a concept!

I finished 2 things today! I love them both and don't want to send either, I wants to keep them. Good thing we are making something for ourselves, right?
I still need to make cards, and I have a few pressing items to finish for personal swaps so tomorrow may be dedicated to that. I gotta say, I am feeling pretty bright and sunny now :).

The stalking is amazingly inspirational. I too have some backgrounds to prep & am wondering if I make that part of another project if I can get away with not counting it against the 2 hour time frame. I've managed to stay very close to it so far & am really curious to see what can be done in that span. I've been quite surprised so far.

I have the idea in my head of what I want to make for thatnate, but I'm still working on the baby blanket for DH's coworker.  The coworker's wife didn't have the baby yet, she's still in labor (1st baby), so I'm hoping to get it done after the blanket is done.

What I want to do is not something I often do, so I'm pretty excited about it, and different ideas keep rolling around in my head!

I got sucked into paper crafting which is, wow, surprisingly messy and time consuming, who knew?! I think everything is dry now so I can clear off my desk (who am I kidding? It's spread out all over the chairs, the cupboard tops, the couch, the floor, ha!) and get working on some other projects. I hope to take something along to babysit a friend's sick little one this afternoon, I'll have at least 2 hours of uninterrupted time to work.

Me too. Every time I check out the ideas or pins I've saved it's a real lift. That's a great reminder of the power of positive affirmations, they really work!

My organizer check-in/question of the week for you is: have you settled on something for yourself? Made any progress? Was it an idea you already had in mind or has it been inspired through your work for your partner?

I am still undecided but I know I want it to be like one of those swap items I've made that I have a hard time parting with. I deserve something awesome too! How about you :)?

I've got ideas for both my partners. I started on one today while waiting for my kids to do their piano lessons. I enjoyed working on it, but I think with the shorter work time, and 2 partners, It's going to take to long, so I may need to simplify it. I've also got a couple ideas for myself, but I'm planning on finishing the ones to be sent first.

Title: Re: Positive Affirmations Swap: Sign ups: closed
Post by: craftylittlemonkey on January 30, 2018 05:28:06 PM
I have ideas for my last two projects but I'm trying very hard to keep within the 2 hour time frame. I've got planning to do to make sure I can pull off something awesome but simple so I don't end up stressing myself out. I tend to over-do it with crafts sometimes, I have an idea and 8 hours later it's only half finished, ha. I really wanted this to be easy and fun. I'm working on other things while I puzzle out a strategy.

ETA if anybody is finished the project for themselves please let me know and I'll start a gallery (not that photo hosting is up but links and work-arounds are a good temporary fix). Maybe showing those off will inspire creativity in some of us who are still thinking :).

I'm 90% finished with the goodies for my partner and myself. The materials I bought were enough for me to make myself exactly what i'm making my partners so i'm making the exact same thing for myself. It really changes your point of view when you're considering your own wants doesn't it?

To answer the check-in question: I didn't have this idea originally but I was inspired by some of the items on my partners' pinterest pages. This item wasn't on either but it is kind of a mashup of what I saw on both!

I didn't have this idea originally but I was inspired by some of the items on my partners' pinterest pages. This item wasn't on either but it is kind of a mashup of what I saw on both!

I love when that happens!  Sometimes I will directly copy a pin as best I can but this time my ideas are a sort of mash-up inspiration too.

I've spent 2 days sorting a large stash of small items and am ready to proceed with the next step. I slept with a sick child last night and didn't get much rest so I'm taking it easy on myself today, slow going.

It really changes your point of view when you're considering your own wants doesn't it?

In the course I'm taking part of our discussion yesterday was about how you can't give from an empty vessel and that self-care is so important in keeping healthy and ready to be of service to others. It is not selfish, it is necessary. We need to start thinking about our care in terms of what we would want for a good friend, our parent, our child, our partner. If something isn't good enough for them, it sure isn't good enough for us! We are responsible for our own care and being less attentive to ourselves than any other person is irresponsible.
Very interesting how your mind rearranges itself when you think about things in those terms. Very interesting. We would never neglect a loved one the way we do ourselves.

Positive affirmation of the day for me: Dear Self, Today, and for the rest of my days I choose to love you, to cherish you and to accept you, just the way you are. Love, me

These ones are really good too:

I have finished one item (just need to work out one last little detail) and have zero ideas for the other, or for the one for myself...

And we just decided to run down to Florida in order to see the SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch on Tuesday, so I'll be out of town from tomorrow through at least Wednesday of next week...  :o  Keeping in mind that these are supposed to be 2 hour projects I'm confident I will pull through to send just in the nick of time.  I may try to bring supplies along on the trip to work on a little something.  Up to the craft room I go!!!

I haven't given this swap a ton of thought yet, been busy with a family emergency, and trying to get the swaps with earlier deadlines finished first. But at least one of my recip's items will just be straight up replicated, because I quite like the look of it.

I've been laid up in bed for the last two days with strep.  I can't wait to start crafting, starting to feel better and can stay in bed any longer.

rosie1981 take care of yourself.  :) I hope you are feeling better soon.

The first one I started was a hoop with a quote, i had planned to add a background as well, but the quote took 2 hours on it's own. I think I'm going to keep that one for myself so I can add the background over time. It looks nice with just the quote, just not what I had planned. so I put that aside, and started something else for one of my partners that's a lot more fun and playful, they may both get the same thing, but I also have a couple other ideas as well...

I'm loving all the pin boards !
So many amazing ideas :-)

I've got my partner's item planned and started, I'm really enjoying all the positivity.
I've got so many projects planned since starting the swap :-)

Is anyone else having to reign it in ?
I want to make so many things on my partner's board !
I could do one a month and have plenty to make :-D
I've got a plan for mine but not started yet !

Thanks for such a great swap CLM

xx

cabaute have a fun time in Florida! Say hello to my parents, they are wintering there these days. Lucky!

gala and Rosie, I'm sending both of your households wishes for good health! Rest up and be well :).

Jen, I too have found it tricky to keep things simple. I want to challenge myself to do things in specific ways this year instead of just a craft'splosion like usual. Just to try it, just for fun. I'm having a good time figuring out how in any case. I can be quite undisciplined so it's different and interesting.

wren I am really loving everybody's pin boards too, the positivity is uplifting no matter what else is happening in my day. I have so many idea, I have been stuck trying to figure out which direction to go in for the last 2 items. I drank a lot of wine with my sister last night, a totally frivolous indulgence but it was great to spend that silly time with her. I woke up with a bit of a headache but I'd dreamed of crafty solutions and I am so happy about both ideas. I'm going to work on them today, I think I can get at least one finished before I start thinking about the kids getting home from school. I'm timing myself, I will try my best to stick to the 2 hour time frame.

The gallery (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=454176.msg5476952#msg5476952) link is posted on the first page because PerfectlyBohemian and gala_apples, your parcels were mailed out this morning. Thank you both for joining this swap and being my partners, it was a pleasure crafting something positive for you :).

I am working on the rest this afternoon while giant fluffy snow flakes gently fall outside. It may not being a sunny day but I am feeling pretty bright and shiny on the inside and that, after all, was the point so thanks to all of you, XO.

I think I'm done but I'm not going to send yet. I feel like something is missing. I'm hoping it will come to me before Friday.

I've been so stressed lately. I have a high demanding job, I am a mom, and I am currently enrolled in USF for my Masters in Autism. I need a mental break!  :P

P.S I hope everyone starts feeling better. The flu is bad this year!!!  :P

WiccadWitch in some cases I opted for the most simple saying thinking sometimes that less is more. A couple words can be very succinct :).

Sarasmile I love when that happens, I felt like that the other day when I dreamed the last 2 things I wanted to make and knew they were right on.

BigBangMomma a book mark is a great idea. I have yet to settle on something for myself, I can't believe that I'm still stymied by a little treasure for myself! Just goes to show how much I need it I think.

Witchhippie oh honey, big hugs. Please breathe that stress out and trust your creativity. We can be our harshest critics when usually the receiver of our effort is charmed and delighted by what we've made for them.

To everyone who is experiencing illness around them (or in them), take care and take the time you need to be well. I hope that creativity is an opportunity for you to replenish and relax. If you are finding it stressful, take a break from that too. You can chop 2 hours up into 10 minute spurts or find another clever way to carve out a little time. Please, give to yourself as much as you can. We should not always be an afterthought when it comes to our own needs. Love yourself!

It's Feb 5th, how is everybody feeling about our Feb 9 deadline for send out? Have you made any progress on something for yourself? Even planning and collecting supplies counts towards that part. You can work on the item for yourself after you mail out to your partner, just please promise that you will actually do it.
One last question to think about, answer only if you feel like sharing. What has the obligation to do something for yourself shown you about how you make time for YOU?

I was in another swap where there was a requirement to make something for yourself. When the items are small, it's kinda nice. I never make anything for myself - I'm always giving it away or selling it or swapping it. I'll finally have something I can hang in our new office around my craft space that will represent my own creativity.

I will make the send out date! I'm actually finished for gala_apples, but am fighting a nasty cough, so decided to stay in today. I'll probably hit the PO tomorrow.

Oh, the item for myself...I'm so bad at self-crafting. Will hopefully start on that today!

I'm almost finished with the last one of 3 I'm sending out. I just need to finish it's... presentation. I will definitely send on time.

I saved mine for last just in case I don't finish it by Thursday. Although I'm pretty sure I will. I wanted a buffer between send outs and my partners receiving. I want them to see their's before I post mine since they are all similar in style. I'm so lucky to have partners that love the same colors as me.

I am among the sick, on the third round of this stupid cold that my kid's classmates have been passing back and forth-- tho every time I start to complain about it I run into someone else who's doing far worse than I am...

In any case, if we have school for the rest of the week and I actually recover a bit then sending by Friday will be no problem, but whether that'll actually happen remains to be seen.  I shall think positive thoughts at my sinuses, I guess.

urgh, I also have the dreaded winter bug - think it was shared by one of my little rainbow guides :-(

I am on the second round of the bug as well. I had a panic attack last night thinking today was the 9th and I was never gonna finish. Our office closed early due to the weather so I got a half a day to craft!! Just waiting for some glue to dry and I think I'll be ready to assemble and ship!

Oh dear, you are all in need of some hot tea and a lazy day of relaxing at home. I hope you are at least getting the tea if not the rest.

I finished my final item but I went over the time I was aiming for. I'm not sure if it was stopping for lunch then kids getting home and finally dinner that put me off my game but I worked at it here and there all day long it seemed. The accumulated time was possibly 3-4 hours in total, I would rather not count the cutting, ironing, carrying to and fro between work surfaces, or especially the picking out of stitches, lol. Without those I am probably closer to 2-3 hours so not bad all told. I certainly like it and would love to keep it myself so it feels like a success.
Here's a wee sneak peek ;).

It's snowed quite a bit here but I'm hoping to make a trip to the post office tomorrow in any case. How is everybody coming along? Sarasmile, I too had a panic when I got up this morning thinking this was the 9th, lol. Glad there is a bit more time for those not feeling in the peak of health.

time management is really a problem. I've enjoyed working on my projects, and they are turning out well, but I've gone over the 2 hours and still not done. At least the one for me is finished at an acceptable level, but I'll probably add more later. We're supposed to have snow tonight, so if we get a snow day tomorrow I'll be able to finish and mail in the afternoon.

Wait, send outs are Friday!? *wipes sweat from brow*
I could have sworn they were today. I mean, I'm pretty much done, but I still have to wrap everything up. I was dreading having to get the packing supplies, then come home to package, and then LEAVE THE HOUSE AGAIN to go to the P.O.  :D  I can rest easy knowing I only have to leave the house one time today.

I never know how long my crafting actually takes (even without a cold) since way too much of my process involves intervals of sitting and staring at things.  And since I've been working on projects for all 3 of my partners more or less at once I have even less idea than usual.

I've been working in small spurts and I have stuff strewn all over my desk! I'm hoping this thing I'm working on now isn't too small... like I think it will be cool, but it's just teensy so I hope it's not disappointing! I may send Monday, we'll see. :) Thanks for the extension.

I'm so happy to see this - I have one item pretty much done and I had mostly finished the other before I left town but then discovered that I'd made a dire mistake and would have to completely redo a huge part of it.  It is quite a relief not to have to try to cram everything into tonight in order to send by tomorrow; even though these are 'small' I tend to just work slowly (and I really want to run by a shop to see if they have something to incorporate into how one of them is displayed, which I haven't had the chance to do yet) so this extension is super helpful.  I did take my personal item on my trip and managed to get that finished so I will update the gallery with that.  Thanks for the extension!

Oh my goodness, I am so stuck with making something for myself. Seriously, what is my problem? Am I hung up on it being a grand fantastic gigantic effort or something like that? Urgh! I am going to get out some paints and make myself a simple little ATC just to get it out of the way. My perfectionism and over-the-toppery are gumming up my jam, man. I need an intervention! LOL.

How is everybody doing, do you think you'll be ready to send by Monday? How about the thing for you, are you stuck like me or have you got something planned/in the works?

Title: Re: Positive Affirmations Swap: Send-outs extended to Mon Feb 12 '18
Post by: Acadian Driftwood on February 10, 2018 07:45:29 PM
I might have the opposite problem? I didn't have any plans for my own thing, and then I realized that I had already been working on something that exactly fit the bill. The thing is it might be too large for this swap at this point? It's an embroidery, and I've spent quite a few hours on it. I just don't want my partners to feel cheated that I made this larger-scale thing for myself!

Title: Re: Positive Affirmations Swap: Send-outs extended to Mon Feb 12 '18

Thinking/hoping I'll be ready Monday, had to start over several times and didn't get a chance to work on them yesterday >:( (waiting on drying right now, so taking a break).

I had started a 4 X 6 thing some time ago that I intended for an affirmation, so I may just finish that (if that's allowed) otherwise, yeah, an ATC or simple /plain 4 X 6 it will be  ;)

I think whatever size the thing is that you make for yourself is fine, the entire point was to set aside time to give to ourselves after all. Sometimes that's only a few minutes, sometimes it's a longer time. So long as we pay attention to our needs too now and then, be encouraging to ourselves, be a kind friend, that's all good.

I started stitching something for myself last night and since I've finished off all my other swap obligations I can actually focus on it for the rest of today. I hope to have a photo to post tomorrow.

Doing a little calculating...

Participants = 20
Parcels in this swap = 38
Parcels sent = 21
Parcel still to be sent = 17
Items people have made for themselves = 4

That's amazing!

I've finished everything & copied out addresses, so pretty sure I'm good to send tomorrow! :)

I was originally thinking about finishing a project I've been avoiding for a while for my "thing for me" but apparently it didn't involve enough machine embroidery to hold my attention at present.

my projects are finished! I just need to package and get to the post office afterwork. they using the some cross stitch, but not exactly the same. I hadn't done that in awhile, and it ended up being a relaxing, fun project. They have traveled well for chaperoning my daughters show choir competitions. I still have several competitions to go to this month, so I think I can add a bit more to mine, but it's finished enough to photograph.  great idea for a swap!

Friends, thank you all so very much for the excellent communication and the wonderful photographs! 2 people have let me know they are on the way to the post office shortly and I am waiting to hear from 2 more about their status. Everyone else is updated in the first post of the gallery thread.
Many of you have shared your creations for yourself, thank you and I hope that felt like a nice gift to give to you :). There are some more completed projects that are similar to sent items so we'll get to see those when their matches are received and posted.
If you have not made something for you, I encourage you to do so in the next couple of days. It is not a requirement for positive feed back, my intention was only to nudge you towards making time to craft for yourself. Often we think nothing of a dozen hours spent in creative labour for someone else but don't want to find an hour or two for a project of our own. You DO have time for YOU. You absolutely do.

Ok friends, we are almost at the end of this lovely, amazing, incredibly inspiring swap. I am so very grateful to each and every one of you for joining and sharing your positivity and light, you are all beautiful people!

Please take a look at the first post of the gallery (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=454176.0) and check that your status is correct, let me know in a PM if anything isn't accurate.

gala-apples has a photo to post and she and I are still waiting on our final packages so keep your eyes on the gallery for at least 2 more.

Hopefully we'll also see some self-crafts from WiccadWitch, wrenboldlygoes, Witchhippie, Rosie1981, gala_apples, and Rangerbeth.
Guys, if you don't post it I will not hold you to the requirement of making something for you because I have read how much many of us, most of us, struggled with this simple act of kindness towards ourselves and I understand. It's funny how something that seems so easy can actually be an incredible challenge. I encourage you to take away from this experience how uplifting it is to be positive and to please remember that you have the power to do that for yourself any time you wish.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated, officially and unofficially ;). It was just what I needed at this time and I hope it brightened February for you. Stay in the light, friends :).
