Title: Ron Weasley's Blanket
Post by: pottermouth on May 28, 2017 04:02:26 PM
For countless months, I had been knitting the 80 squares needed to assemble Ron Weasley's knitted blanket (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-ron-weasley-blanket-by-penguineer?set=&_rfoff=1) to give to my daughter as a graduation present. It was an epic feat and at times I felt it would never be finished. Remembering all I had to do was knit whereas she had to finish college (at least the first four years)...well, that kept me going! I was so through with it that there are only three pics.  :D

Chaircat Mao on the blankie:

And a sight I never, ever, no never want to see again.

I got the heebie-jeebies just looking at all of those blocks to be sewn together! Talk about a labor of love! Well done!

WOW nice thing!
Sorry if my question is stupid, but how did you stitched the separate squares? By knitting or sewing machine?

Me too. Still.  :D

The squares are sewn together with ALL of those long tail ends on the squares, like this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Msq_U1C260Y (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Msq_U1C260Y)

I sewed the squares together in long columns then sewed the columns to one another.

Thank you for the Featured Project! How exciting!

Ugh, I can imagine... sewing in ends is my least favorite thing about knitting! I can hide my tails in crocheting way easier. Your blanket looks great though and I'm sure your daughter will love it for years to come!
