Title: Yeti Village
Post by: leighi123 on January 07, 2017 06:59:56 AM
This year I decided to make a "Yeti Village".    Yetis is kinda my theme lately because I have been sewing so many fabric ones!

EVERYTHING is edible except for the string, 1 toothpick and the plate it sits on.     Its also totally vegan and tastes good if you cook it for a shorter time so the cookies are softer.

My Yeti Village  has mountains with yetis on the ledges, a ski lodge, a couple of tiny houses, trees and best of all a cable car!   I chose blues and greens and white for the majority of my coloring.     Yetis are made from a powder sugar and cornstarch "clay" and then hand painted with paint I made with food coloring and cornstarch.

I had a lot of fun making this, it ended up as a cute centerpiece for the table.

Thanks for looking!

Inspired by my sewn yetis

WOW! This a a gingerbread masterpiece! It's extra great that so much of it is technically edible, too.

That is fantastic. Even the base is a cookie? Just wow. Nearly as cute as your fabric yetis ;).

Thanks!   Yes the whole base is that hard gingerbread cookie, kind of a freeform shape, I "glued" it with icing to the plate its on so it would stay put!

So cool! I just showed it to my daughter as inspiration for next year's gingerbread houses - she made a hobbit hole this year, and her bother made a gingerbread high rise! I used to make a cookie base, too, but it never got eaten and it took away from making individual cookies. I love your mini yetis!
