Title: passion fruits
Post by: yoopidou on April 30, 2016 10:10:25 AM
This year, the birds are eating my passion fruit flowers. I was wondering why I saw the flowers and no passion fruits at all. Today, my husband saw one ripping the petals apart. This birds are not easily scared, they don't mind the cat just under them and will leave only if we get really close. Do you have any idea what I can do?

you can get nets to cover fruit trees, something similar would work for this.  They're usually black and fine, so not very noticeable.

Thanks. I even have some I used to protect the Suriname cherries but i did not think of using it. The problem seems to have solved itself.
I found out there was a nest in my neighbor's avocado tree just close to the passion fruit. It seems the birds were trying to rip flowers and thin strips of the vines to build their nest. I guess their nest is finished now as I saw adult birds teaching young ones to eat my their figs.
