Title: Miss Universe
Post by: librarylolita on November 25, 2015 08:40:47 AM

Here was a last minute universe costume for our Boo at the Library program.  I made a ball from sections of foam I hot glued together then carved out holes for the arms.  I cut fleece into sections and sewed them together to make a cover for the foam.  I cut arm holes into the cover and added sleeves.  Then I added the stars.  Lots and lots and lots of stars.  I initially was hand sewing them to the costume, stuffing them, and layering as I went.  But as I ran out of time I decided to just start hot gluing them on.

If I pull out the costume again next year, I'm thinking of adding a Miss Universe sash or maybe a smiling head with Saturn-like rings.  Thoughts?

I love it!
I like how some stars are stuffed and some aren't. It gives it a 3D aspect without making it stuffy. Your choice and placement of colorful stars is perfect with the golden ones near the top.
For next time, the hair piece with Saturn-like rings around your head would attract the eyes and make it even more fun.

That's awesome!  I love it, and it's inspiring.  Great way to make a round costume!

Thanks, yoopidou.  A hair piece with rings is an excellent idea.
