First post, first post!  I received three gorgeous patches from SheridanLA yesterday evening - all in line with my nature themes!!!  Unfortunately I could only grab a few quick pics on my phone on the way out the door this morning; I'm afraid they don't convey how detailed and gorgeous these patches are.

Here's a pic of all three together - My Birds, Trees, and Stars themes

The tree has tiny beads for depth, and beautiful tufted stitching all around

Look at this adorable birdie - love the added beading on all of these , and esp. the colorful birdie tail!!

There are 3-d stars and a little star-patterned button on this gorgeous purple universe patch

Thank you so much, SheridanLA - these are GORGEOUS patches and I love each one of them so much!!

I recieved from pinkmichk, they are such clever ideas and really nearly executed! thanks

A rose on a tuxedo for tipping the velvet (such a well done rose), yellow dasies for max's proposal in Gilmore girls, and a shirt front with braces for this is England (great idea!)

I received two fantastic patches from Watsonc7 today. As tired as I am (I was at school from 7:30 am to 8:30 pm... I had to help run the Halloween dance), I had to come on and gush over my patches :)

Because my themes fall under science and more science and then, even more science, Watsonc7 ran with it!

First, a Fungi patch to fit into the category of scientific classification. She did free-motion embroidery to make the mushroom and it's excellent!

And next, a patch that shows the layers of the atmosphere. I love how they get darker the higher up you go and that a bit of the earth is peeking out at the bottom!

Thank you so much, Watsonc7! Two more fabulous additions to my collection!

oooh a gallery...I'm a little slow...
All the patches are so interesting, I especially love the tree, This is England shirt, Pikachu (my daughter is officially addicted to all things Pokemon), and the Targaryan dragon, wow!  I don't know who Baby Bucky is, but the technique is cool, is that colored in or printed?  It looks awesome!
So glad you liked your patches craftADDchick!  I have a blast planning patches for your theme.  I'm really into free motion sewing now so it was a fun excuse to play around with it some more.  I really need to spend some time learning how to embroider words, "fungi" is looking cray...that's why I normally stamp letters :/

Whoops ... posted in the chat thread first... :o

So here it goes ...

I've RECEIVED awesome patches from Roler!! :D With her trademark stitched-on felt. :)

Here's one (nautical/marine animals etc theme)

... reminds me a bit of one of my girls' TV shows .. Octonauts! :D

And then the 2nd installment of Marvel patches ... maybe a couple more private swaps and Roler will have provided all Avengers for me?? ;)

Here's the "Hulk Smash" patch with Thor's Hammer from a personal swap with roler.

Thank you soooo much, roler! FAB work! Love your patches!! :D

"roler" love the octopus patch & the Hulk smash is great! Also Thor's hammer!

"Watsonc7" All those stencils patches are so neat! Love the England one because I was there a few years ago!  Great job!

Me too.  I feel my patches were a little inferior.  They were my first go and the recipients love them. I am taking solace in that and going to learn so many new techniques.  :D

Yesterday I receive two beautiful patches from elderflower.  The first was for "Hobbit" theme and was a wonderful surprise.  A embroidered Smaug with his hoard!

I got out my copy of the Hobbit and found Tolkien's drawing and knew I was right!  This is my second patch in the Hobbit theme and so I'm so happy.

A little closer look at Smaug.  The beading of his hoard would tempt any dragon !  I love the fabric it is subdued almost like the dragons breath has caused a fog.

The second patch is of a kitten which elderflower crocheted with such tiny thread.  Filet crochet is not easy to achieve and her stitches are impressively even.  Maybe if I ever get to that part of the world I can meet her and get a lesson.

The kitten is so sweet and the little ribbon a nice touch.

The kit elderflower sent was over the top!  Here are some pictures.

She sent some crocheted kittens, purple ribbon and hand dyed threads in lovely purples.  I have been wanting some hand dyed threads from South Africa for a long time!  Thank you!

She also sent some lovely fabric pieces including a lovely black velvet and some stones.  I think they are amazonite and amethyst.  Also included was some stuffing and she put it in a plastic case from Air Zimbabwe.  I love collecting containers like this, Thank you again for all the thought and work you put into such a lovely swap.

Wow! That dragon with it's stash is excellent, but I am mega-impressed with the filet crochet kitty! I've yet to attempt filet crochet, and to see it done with such tiny stitches is amazing! Love the kit supplies, too!

So glad everything arrived safely.  I was concerned about it when my post office sent me a note to say they'd put the wrong tracking numbers on my packets and had had to change them.

I have received from elderflower! She sent me an awesome package.

Here are my patches. I had the theme of buttons, since I collect them, and wiccan, and they fit with my favorite colors of red white and bacl.
Look at her lovely stitching on the triple moon design and on the edges! Just wonderful. And I love the buttons.

Next, a picture of the kit she sent me with lots of goodies. There are more of those lovely buttons, some lace, embroidery thread, an applique butterfly, ribbon, batting, stones like the one in the pentagram (not sure what kind, elderflower do you know?), and beautiful fabrics from Zimbabwe! I love the rose one (another one of my themes) and the patterned red one! Can't wait to craft some patches, though I am not sure I could bring myself to use such beautiful buttons!  ;D

Finally, and extra picture of the awesome card and cool stamps on the envelope.  :D

Thank you so much elderflower! I love my gorgeous patches.

So pleased everything arrived safely.  I don't know all the stones' names.  The pinkish ones are rose quartz and the purple amethyst. The pale blue is, I think, aventurine but I'm not sure and the reddish brown ones I believe to be jasper. The clear slightly yellowish ones are either quartz or citrine and I really don't know what the very dark one is.  It has a slightly greenish cast in a very strong light so it might be garnet or another form of jasper.
Sorry I can't be more definite.  I love semi-precious stones and I just got them because I thought they were pretty  ::)  and didn't ask what they were.

Another fantastic set of patches! Are those hippo buttons? I love how you stitched the edges (blanket stitch?), too! Beautiful stitching on the moon patch!

I love the patches you made elderflower!  The edge stitching is so cool, I'll have to try that.  The hobbit patch is my fav, I love the beads and the background fabric is really neat... Did you make/dye that fabric yourself?

Title: Re: Yet Another TM Patch Swap R3!- Gallery

LOVE the blanket stitch edging, it's gorgeous

Title: Re: Yet Another TM Patch Swap R3!- Gallery
Post by: elderflower on November 04, 2014 11:45:17 AM
Thank you all.  I was thinking my blanket stitch was too controlling and I should have tried to make it look more  random  :P
The horn buttons represent hippo, traditional huts, gourd containers and fish and I think there was also a rhino on the card I sent.
Smaug's background fabric is left over from a dress I made long ago.

Title: Re: Yet Another TM Patch Swap R3!- Gallery
Post by: roler on November 04, 2014 12:48:58 PM
elderflower, you made such a variety of patches, and they're all so cool!  I agree that the fabric and treasure hoard on the Smaug one are awesome, but so are the others as well!!  I think I might try your blanket stitch edging too, although I'm not sure it'll look as good with my generally lumpier patches. ;P  But may as well try and see, right? I like trying new techniques. :) I think it's neat that everyone has such distinctly different styles - they're all very cool, and my favorite part about these swaps is that when I do combine things into a whole project, I'll have such a neat variety!! XD

Wow have been off for a few days & the gallery explodes with goodies1

"elderflower "The dragon patch is so cool!  The kitty is awesome, such tiny stiches for me. The extras are neat!

The other patches are great & the buttons so pretty! I love the blanket stich wiil have to try that!  The kit is lovely!

"crasyda79" Those patches are so neat! My favorite is the tree, I guess I'm partial to trees!

"doodle-bug" Such a cool Idea for the light on top of the Tardis! The tea pot with the mouse is so cute. The other one is great too!!

"MommyThe Maid" Those patches are so cute. I like the snowman the best!

"Pinkmick" love the patches. I love the snow hill the best & the snow flake 2nd.  Very nice sewing!

I sent to my partner Wed. I had it all done Monday, but had a lot of things I had to do & didn't get to the post until Wed.  She should get it Mon.

All the patches are looking so Awesome & some new Ideas too. On one of my partners patches I used the fleece instead of the polyester & I think I like it a little better. It doesn't distort the image or whatever you make. I have use less polyester & it's ok but still not as neat as the fleece.

Sorry I'm so behind on commenting!

Such awesome patches, everyone!!

crazyda79 - That dog patch is awesome! I'm so literal-minded sometimes, I don't think I'd had even THOUGHT of making a 'dog' patch without an actual dog on it, but the dog theme things are great!! So cute!  I like the tree too, and the embroidered planet ring is awesome.

noodle-bug - I am so jealous of pinkmichk right now; those are all themes I love and SO well done!  All three of them are really, really cool!

Mommythemaid - Those are so creative and cute!  The sushi is definitely my favorite, but the others are great too!  I like how the panda is sticking out on to the border a bit - very nice effect.

Pinkmichk - Your patches are so beautifully neat!  I still haven't quite figured out how anyone can do that, lol!  The Mike eye is really funny and cute, and the two winter patches are lovely.  The tree scene in particular just looks so peaceful!

GoldenSunshine - You could not have fit the theme of baby-colored woodland creatures better!  They're so sweet, with a nice variety of colors that all still go really well together!  And again, I like the applique sticking onto the border; I'm going to have to try that effect next time!

I am getting so excited to get my patches!  Everyone here is so talented and creative!

Thanks, everyone!  I'm so glad you like the patches, goatgoddess!!  I experimented with a new (to me) technique on those two, using quilt batting instead of polyfil.  They took a little extra time because I had to trim things more exactly, but came out much neater.  I still can't decide which type I like better, though!  Do I like the neater and flatter type, which are prettier, or the sloppier and lumpier type, which seem to me to have more character? Hmmm... XD  This is still why I love everyone's different techniques!!

Love that set of patches, too!  The personalized 'family tree' is so sweet, and I love the reading related ones, of course!!

goatgoddess, excellent patches from roler! I love the R2D2 patch (I can't wait to see how all of your Star Wars patches come together), and the stitching on the Chinese lantern plant is great (I love those plants)!

jenleahlynn, I love your patches, especially the 3-headed dog {I love the teeth!}. And, I love that the book pages turn- clever!

I collected my patches from goktrose yesterday. I wanted to get these pictures up right away so you could see them all but didn't have electricity until this morning.
She has sent me such beautiful patches on my themes and a lovely kit with some gorgeous fabrics and threads and buttons.

First of all on my Science theme she made me a lovely 3d flask full of beaded bubbles.

I love the  colours of it and the shimmering blue beads she used.

Then for my African Wild Dog theme she did a truly beautiful reverse applique of a Wild Dog head with yellow French knot eyes.

She really captured that distinctive silhouette. Instantly recognizable, I love it so much and I also love the fabrics you used.

On top of all this she included a generous kit on my Thunderstorms theme.

Thank you goktrose for the gorgeous fabrics, threads and buttons. I want to start making patches right away.

I also love the different techniques you used. You inspire me to try them myself.  Thank you for an altogether wonderful package.

SQUEEEE!! I received my patches today and Cabaute ROCKED it!

She went with some of my all time favorite themes: Mickey and Minnie Mouse and travel. Here are the three at once:

For Mickey, check out all the perfect little French knots! She's got the mad skills! I am coveting the blue fabric.

Minnie has these beautiful beads surrounding the silhouette applique.

Then the adorable little travel patch has cute little suitcases - makes me watch to hop on a plane!

Thank you so much, cabaute! I love them!

I just received a pile of really cool patches from noodle-bug.  It's funny how small and petite she makes her patches, and mine are like thick monsters in comparison...i always do the stringy/wonky edges, and her patches are finished with a neat fold and stitch.  This is why I love these patches so much....with all the different techniqued TM patches I have collected, they all fit together so awesomely, serious personality in the mix :)
So on to bizniz

A few patches inspired by one of my fav movies Fantastic Mr Fox!  The tail is so durn cute and Ever since I saw the movie, I'm always saying what the cuss! Love them

Confession....I'm not actually sure what movie/show the eye patch came from...I'm going to smack myself when you tell me.  It does feel very familiar, either way, I think it is really cool!   Ohhhh and noodle made her other partner a light up tardis and must have felt my jealous desperation because lookie lookie...my very own light up tardis!!  My daughter squealed and tried to run off with it, ummmm no, don't you know I will cut you kid!?  Coolest thing EVA!

Thank you so much noodle-bug, it was an awesome package to open up!  Very creative, loved them all

pinkmichk, what a great set of patches from GoldenSunshine! I love the use of the charms and buttons!

crazyda79, I love that lifeguard stand patch (jenleahlynn, how did you do the background?)! And the stitching on the other two patches is fabulous (Ilove how it makes the daisies stand out!), and the baby feet on the butterfly patch is the perfect accent. crazyda79, what do you plan to do with your pregnancy loss awareness patches?

DaphadillyArt, awesome patches from Sharalee! I love the fox, and can't disagree with the Golden Rule patch :) ANd, I really like the buttons & appliques that she used (I need to start stalking those aisles at the craft stores). The kit is great, too, especially how the floss coordinates so well with the fabric!

eldeflower, the flask patch is excellent (science!!), as is the African Wild Dog (and the reverse applique has given me an idea...). I love the fabrics & supplies she picked out for your kit and it was a clever idea to match them to another of your themes!

SheridanLA, what a great set of Mickey & Minnie patches! I really, really like the travel themed one (such cute fabric!), too, and I love how the stitching accents it!

Super patches all around! I do love seeing all of the variety, and I'm glad so many of you are posting close-up pics of the details so we can see them :)

Watsonc7,  great patches! And, I agree, the neat edges make a nice contrast to the "messy" ones and will give your entire set of patches definite personality! I have not seen "Fantastic Mr. Fox," but now I think I'll need to, and I'll probably add "What the cuss" into my vocabulary :) I love that you also got a light-up Tardis! Such a clever patch!

crazyda79, what do you plan to do with your pregnancy loss awareness patches?

I have yet to decide what I am doing with my patches.  Not sure if I am just going to put all the themes together for a bag that is "me" or if I am going to keep them separate and make something with them.  I'm thinking of a wall hanging possibly unless I can come up with something more "fun".

I received 3 patches from cabuate on Friday!  I love them bunches.

My beach, constellation and butterfly themes ;)

Cute little beach scene

Gorgeous butterfly!  I love the swirly background

And my first constellation patch- Orion

Thank you so much!  They are a great addition to my collection!

WOW so many lovely patches!!

"Golensunshine"  Those patches are too cool! I love the Alice in Wonderland one with the small cards & clock & tea pot charms.

"jeanleahlynn" The beach patch is so peaceful & Lovely. The feet in the butterfly is just darling! Also the Daisys are pretty too! Great sewing!

"DaphadadillyArt"  So glad you liked your patches! The fox one I used the flatter stuffing. ( I can't remember the name) The fox was in parts, as I needed to sew him together & then sew him on the patch & I didn't want to sew through all the layers, so it was easier to do it that way.

"goktrose" The flask with beaded bubbles is cool! The reverse applique of the African Wild Dog is so cool! The kit looks pretty neat too!!

"cabaute" The Mickey & Minnie patches are so cute! I love the travel one also!
The other patches are great too. I love butterflies & the beach one is cute! & the constellation is neat!

""noodle-bug" Those patches are all so nice & neat. The fox tail is cute & love the eye & another Tardis with a real light & how cool. I don't watch Dr. Who so can I ask what the snap represents? I'm a little slow on things! LOL !

"Watsonc7"  I agree that everyone has their own style & I think that's great! I have some patches that are very delicate, flatter & intricate sewn. I think I might put them in a bigger patch & use them that way, but  I love that the patches are all different. It makes swapping even more interesting!

I received from "DaphadillyArt" I love the patches! I will put pics in soon! Thanks so much!

I got two great patches from vincentvanbuck!

The first is for the solar system... Poor Pluto!

The fabric for the patch is an image of a planet- it's very cool looking!

The second one is for molecules!

The backing fabric for the patch is a science-y flannel fabric, and vincentvanbuck replicated one of the molecules on the fabric as an applique on the front. I haven't figured out what molecule it represents, yet, but I'm working on it :)

Thanks for the fantastic patches!

And, I just updated a bunch of feedback, so please let me know if I've missed anyone!

And, once I get myself back on track, I'll be back to comment on the latest patches of awesome! :)

I'm not sure.  I copied the molecule that appears on the backing fabric.

I got beautiful patches from goatgoddess this weekend!

Loteria theme:

Merfolk theme:

I absolutely love the gorgeous colors, and I think the X's on the borders look so nice.  She also sent me a lovely extra -- did you use your printer to make it?

The edges of the patches I made look so wonky :-\ but I'm glad I can see that many of you are folding your fabric edges instead of rolling them, I will definitely give that a try next time.  ;)

Title: Re: Yet Another TM Patch Swap R3!- Gallery
Post by: stillatthetop on November 24, 2014 10:24:12 PM
Let's say it together...SPRAY STARCH. Works wonders for getting the "wonky" out. But wonky is good all the same. It lets us loosen up a bit. And reminds us that the world does not need to be perfect. I like my TM edges that I make to be perfectly square, but I also like the wonky ones that I have gotten, too. Just how we roll  ;D I am learning to loosen a bit. And these projects are helping with that.

I like the different varieties of edges! For this round, I made my patches less puffy, folded the edges over (raw edge still showing) and then stitched around them. The patches are much more rectangular, but the edges are still relatively "messy," which is a combination of both :)

And, I have 4 hours of parent conferences in about a half an hour, and then I need to dash home to pack up for Thanksgiving (hoping to get on the road extra early to avoid the 10-14 inches of snow that's expected tomorrow... small potatoes compared to Buffalo, but I'd rather avoid it just the same!).

But, at some point in the next day or so, I'll be back to properly appreciate all of the excellent patches!

And, stillatthetop, I never thought of using spray starch... maybe for the next set! :)

so glad you like the patches - yes it's printed on treated fabric you run thru the printer - I get it at Michales (best price for a package of 10) with a 40% off coupon - there are tutes on craftster that show you how to make the fabric at home

I love the wonky edges but for some reason I can't do them - I roll my edges and they look funny to me - so I end up folding them - I'll get it someday........

Wow, goatgoddess's patches for vincentvanbuck are so awesome, I can't wait to see what she's sent me! XD  In the meantime, my patches from Inselaeffchen came today, and they are SO GREAT!! XD

Here are all three:

She covered three of my interests: Doctor Who with the wonderful stitched TARDIS, Ghibli films with the adorable No-Face from Spirited Away, and LoTR/Hobbit with the cutest little hobbit door, complete with button flowers... and look!!

The hobbit door OPENS!  So cool and creative!

I feel like with just this one small package, my fandom quilt (whatever it turns out to be - a wall hanging? notebook? sewing machine cover? haven't decided yet!) just got a lot more fun!!  I really only started my TM patch collection quite recently, so these three patches doubled my fandom patch collection! XD  It's gonna make an awesome project someday.  Thanks SO MUCH, Inselaeffchen!!

EDIT: Argh, why is it so hard to get my vertical pictures to upload with the right orientation on craftster??  They're saved vertically in my files!  Does anyone have a good quick trick to deal with this problem?

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
I received two really cool Firefly patches from CraftADDchick yesterday.  I had so much fun stenciling a few of the patches I made, so I really loved getting the stenciled Blue Sun.  And wow, she painted fabric to make the background of the firefly ship...it's a really cool paperish texture, I'm still checking it out :). I must try some fabric painting soon.  And check out the tiny detail stitching on the ship...that took some patience!  As usual, I love my patches!

Thanks so much craftADDchick!

ACCKK!!! Life has completely gotten in the way of Craftster, and I absolutely neglected to post the patches I received from our wonderful organizer.  She went for my board games theme with two fantastic Clue patches:

How awesome is the stencil work on this one?!? And I love all the different colored fabrics to represent the player characters.

Thank you so much for these wonderful patches, craftADDchick!

Oh my goodness, those Clue patches are awesome!!  I might have to steal your idea and make board games a theme of mine as well, since I really love them!!

Meanwhile, my own patches from goatgoddess arrived today!  I've been having a super stressful day, but these are definitely making me feel better. :)

Aren't these awesome!?  Apparently we both have the same favorite Doctor, and he certainly looks fantastic on this patch here!  I like the added "10", and the scrapbooky feel of the patch.  And then there's Death from Discworld!!  I love that series, and Death has appeared in nearly every single book (apparently my brother checked, and said that there's only one book out of 40 that Death doesn't at least make a brief appearance in).  She also included an extra printed piece of fabric with a smiling Death and a great Terry Pratchett quote, so I can make him into something myself. :)

I really love how these are a totally different style from the other patches I've received!  I've now gotten 3 Doctor Who patches, and they're all so different, they're gonna make a really cool project all together, with so many cool styles!

Oh wow, so many great patches!! They definitely give me ideas and get me going on my own patches (once my little Hobbits give me a break... *grumbles* ).

Goatgoddess: How did you do the prints?

Roler - Sooooo jealous of the 10th patch!!! Another DT fan here!! :D He's *my* doctor, despite me starting to watch Doctor Who with the 9th.

I love your Terry Pratchett patch and the fabric with the quote.

oh so glad you like your patches roler.

the patches are made with printed fabric off the inkjet printer and then added color with paints (with textile medium)

love the clue patches - very cool!

Wow! This has been a fabulous gallery! I know I've said it before, but I love the variety of styles and techinques that people have used. I think that every patch posted has been great (although I think the "fandom" patches are my favorites... next to the science patches, of course :) ).

I'm pretty sure that we only have one more set of patches to make it's way around the globe, and then we'll be officially finished with this round! I just had a bit of fun arranging my patches, and if my camera was charged, I'd take a picture. If I keep the current arrangement, I need a small filler patch, and I just had an idea for one I could stitch up that would fit the spot perfectly.

Also, I just left a bit more feedback, so let me know if I've missed anybody!

Because not much is going the way it's supposed to be going tonight, I decided to make a little patch of happy and arrange my collection of science patches. And, because I had enough of a charge on the camera, I was able to take a photo (not the best light, but...).

This probably isn't a permanent layout, but it was fun to try to fit the patches together!

Tee, hee. I see mine in there. Looks like you are on your way to a smooth layout. LMK and I will craft something new for you, too. Need to fill in the blanks? Just PM me the sizes. Very neat start for things.

Whoops..mine is top right with all the beads.

It definitely was fun to lay them out and see how they look- relaxing, too! I'm definitely planning to stitch a patch or two over my Christmas break. I have several ideas that I've had to put on hold because life has gotten in my way :)

My fabulous package arrived today from madcrafter.
She posted it on 22 November and the notification arrived yesterday - so I guess airmail  isn't what it used to be  ;)
But it was truly worth waiting for.  She made patches on my theme of sunsets and had the most beautiful fabrics and embroidery.
I love this one with its fire at sunset. The fabric just brilliantly evokes a bush fire and the chenille stitched sun is glorious.

The other patch she sent is this beautiful Van Gogh style sunset in chainstitch.  I am so in love with the colours and the way the stitches flow around the sun and across the sky.

She also sent me one of her stunning paper cuts.
I am so thrilled with this and love all the little details that I keep finding the more I look at it - like the cats on the fence and the rabbits in the grass.

And as if all this wasn't enough she also sent me a wonderful patch making kit with fabrics in my favourite colours and needles and threads and beads.  I'm particularly intrigued by the unusual threads as I can't find that sort of thing here and I'm really looking forward to using them
Altogether a fantastic Christmas present. Thank you so much madcrafter. Definitely worth the wait.

Hooray! I'm glad it finally made it's way to you! And, I agree, the package was totally worth the wait. I can't decide which patch I like better- they're both gorgeous!

And, that I love that paper cut scene!

It's summertime here in the US, and the swap boards have been pretty quiet. So, we figured it was time for a quick round of the Yet Another TM Patch Swap! Patches are portable and great to take while you're traveling (even to the beach!

We're celebrating the 10th Round of the Yet Another TM Patch Swap, and there's an extra challenge for this round.

As a past swapper, we'd love to have you join in to make this the biggest round of the swap, "Yet!" Even if you only have time to make 1 patch, you can still have fun!

Check it out here: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=455350.0
