My questionnaire has been sent in. This is my first swap this year and I have a new sewing machine that I really want to play with.
Hope there are a few sewn items on people's list.

Better get working on a list now.

Looking forward to getting started.

I normally avoid ongoing swaps (they just seem so overwhelming!) but I can't resist jumping into this round! Working on a list now and hope my requests aren't too specific or strange :)

I will be working on the frugal swap today, have a couple more things I want to whip up, and get more magnets for another fabric/magnetic alphabet set; plus visit the inlaws, go to the brewers park and swap some tickets, and get me some iron on vinyl and some regular vinyl to sew with. im off today from work then 4 in a row, my usual weekend on. Thankfully I am over the upper respiratory bug I caught from work, coughing is nearly gone--yay!!!

Have a super thursday all!

Sometime today this round will open, I'll PM ya and let ya know as soon as Kittykill declares 106 closed :) Folks are chomping at the bit to start claiming--whooohoooo!

I'm hopping back in for this round! After moving in July and getting all settled in, and finishing all major items for the IYP swap, I think I have a clear slate to let inspiration move me when I have the time (between the beginnings of Christmas crafting).  :D

Hi everyone! I'm back  ;)

I'm planning on claiming someone soon.  I was thinking about claiming zombiecazz, but I don't think I can swing international shipping right now.  I have too many packages going out this month! lol

I am thinking about claiminig too with a supply package, but what I do have for that package right now shouldn't be considering as a medium, so I would like to find something else what I can send or make. Haven't found much... :(

I would love to claim, but I have got to get more work done on my IYP packages first. I'm getting close to done for Anna, but I dunno if I can manage Rox's in time so would be completely unfair to keep claiming here.

Thanks! I can't wait  :)

EDIT: Just in case anyone is interested, happy to do some design as a swap. Maybe you need some invitations, cards, business stuff, typography or something similar done. I don't work in design and layout anymore so I do enjoy a task from time to time. If it's on your list, I will be keen to claim :)

schnerby I just love that you not only have boards for things you love but also boards for stuff that is "Totally not my style" and "Colours I avoid"! Brilliant! Is it awkward when people who's style you admire repin from those boards as something they love or want?

Ignorant design and layout question - I'm not entirely sure what is meant.

Would this include something along the lines of coming up with an artwork design that my daughter could insert into flyers advertising her high school guitar club events? She is the vice president this year and I am sure she would love something combining her school mascot (an eagle) with a guitar. Or do you mean something more along the lines of me giving you all the info for an event and you would design a poster and postcards that you send electronically and I forward over to a print shop to get it printed out in poster size and postcard size to distribute?

Or is this more of a service for something like a crafter with a table at craft fairs to create a brochure of their offerings or print a brochure they already have designed? Or something where you would take their logo and information to print out pads of invoices?

Please let us know so we can tailor our wish lists

Well, they don't really get pinned to anymore so they don't show up on other people's walls when they follow me. I'm not sure that makes ANY sense :)
Short answer: It's never happened so I don't know.

Either! A little illustration or a design project like a flyer you could then send to get printed would work. Just as long as you're not a boring corporate band that is going to kill my mind.  ;D

Yay sheep! I'm so excited to see what you make! I'll get started on your claim today, too, but it won't be that much of a surprise. But for the next claim I already have a plan what to make... that one got ditched last time when I couldn't find the most important supply items...

And I need more hours, too. Trying to cut down on unneccessary stuff. Food, sleep, ... *sigh*

Awe, I am feeling like claiming, but seems sorta weird to claim Anne since I am frantically finishing an IYP package to her right now. Anything I would craft for her right now would sort of have to go into that package... Oh well, I should get my Round 106 package out the door first. I made something for gingerpeachy that I hadn't claimed for her, but I haven't made the item for which she was claimed yet. I'm off to get that cut out and ready for stitching after kids go to school.

Ave, you should wait until I am finishing soma claims (and orders as well), as I want to claim you - my mom is crazy about inchies, and she makes them every day... I had a small envelope for you (and for some others anyway), where I am collecting thing for a future claim, but I'll need to get a shoe box soon... :)

Intriguing Ezter. I love the little felt ones you sent me sooo much! I have a tiny wedgewood box that is just perfect for holding inchies until I get enough to figure out a display. It has plenty of room.

I made a simple quick display by pinning my twinchies onto a piece of ribbon that I tacked up on my inspiration board. I don't think it'll be the permenent way I'll display them but it's nice enough for now.

What is the difference between an inchie and a twinchie? I've seen both used but maybe they are the same?

Technically speaking an inchie is a one-inch size artwork, and a twinchie is a two-inchie size artwork...though some of the people involved in the Stitching Inchies or Twinchies along call it twinchies. At least for me, most of my pieces are 2" square.

hey friends, don't forget to PM me too when you claim, so I can make sure I update all the list of who is claiming who and make sure we don't miss anyone :)

Sorry rscowtown! I didn't realize we were supposed to PM you too when we claimed. Past rounds we were responsible for getting our claimee's address, but only had to PM the organizer for sending and receiving. I reread the rules for the swap and it still says as much too.

Title: Re: Ongoing Wish Swap Round 107 Gallery & Discussion
Post by: rscowtown on September 16, 2014 04:31:45 PM
you are right sheepBlue, I had forgotten that it didn't say that and Averia pointed it out as well. Others swaps I've been in required us to cc the organizer when we claim.

How bout this: don't worry about cc'ing me when you claim, but please PM me if I don't keep the list in order or I miss someone's claim when I am updating the "who claimed who" list.

Thanks so much :)
Laurel

Sounds good, Laurel!

My list seems to be stalling the swap, any hints? I just added a few things. If there is something not on there that someone would like to make for me, feel free to pm me or just do it - I bet there are plenty of things we still need/want around here that I just didn't think of yet.

Sadly I think I'm pretty much claimed out this round. I really need to focus on crafting for Christmas and my etsy shop. I'll still keep an eye out but the piles of stuff that need to be done around here won't be ignored much longer.

I like to focus on one thing at a time, so I probably won't claim again until I've sent sheepblue's package. I don't know how people manage 5 swaps all at once either!

aaauugggh I missed my deadline to send :( I lose track of days. I work a pretty set schedule, but its not the monday to friday thing, so im constantly trying to figure what day it is.

I have part of mine done and will work on the rest in the morning (heading to work soon). The other item I thought I had but did not will have to wait for another claim.

Looking forward to seeing all the neat goodies you folks create when they are received and posted!

Well... if I don't have to cut all things up, then it's easy for me too... but my projects always needs like 3 colors of felt, same amount of thready, some needles, small scissors, some batting, beads, sequins... and those had to kept safe from my son, who always steeling something (generally the scissors...) :)

I marked more than one class worth of essays today so I'm going to reward myself by starting on what I want to make for Jemimah. If my new (second hand but a freebie gift and new to me) sewing machine doesn't work I can always try on my grandmother's machine from the 60s. It's so heavy but I bet it works well.

That said, I did warn her that it might all go pear shaped and I'll need to use a different method and make something else!

:)

Working hard to sneak some minutes and getting my claims out "early" on Saturday (why is it that I always claim people on Sundays?), while at the same time sitting on my hands because I have so much to do I mustn't claim again this round.

Isn't there anyone who will hire me, part time for the next few months and then full time for the next 25-40 years and just order more wishlist stuff from me to make?

If you don't have an etsy store already I'm certain you could sell your beautiful necklaces! I know I'm adding one to my wishlist for next time! ;)

:-) I have something in my mind too to put on my wishlist what you can make me... but there are already some things what we were talking about, so I am sure, you won't have time 'till Christmas, if you claim me :))

Thanks, ladies, much appreciated! And I'll certainly keep an eye out for your lists. I guess an Etsy store would be a good option, or DaWanda here for Germany, but that means lots of work and planning in the beginning, and right now I'm really only looking for a way to get out of writing my thesis and sitting through 6 exams (or rather organizing all of that). I'll stick to swapping and try to improve my work ethic...  ;)

What about renting a booth at a craft fair?  They are pretty fun.

Just jumping in briefly to do all little advertising for the Swap the Shop swap which is a perfect companion to the OWS I think  ;D ;)

I'm jumping into the latest round of the Swap the Shop Winter Market, and I wanted to invite you guys to check it out and maybe even join! It's a lot of fun and a really laid back swap where you can get awesome stocking stuffers and gifts for your friends, family, and even yourself for the winter holidays. You set up your own "shop" of pre-crafted things and supplies you want to destash, and then using a point system "buy" from the other shops in the swap. Everyone is really really friendly and you can request custom orders from people as well if they're open to it. I hope you guys give it a thought, its a lot of fun! And if you get overwhelmed or too busy you can close up shop until you have more free time. Here's the link to the swap:

https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=435866.0#axzz3EU3NUJd7

I would love to answer any questions if anyone has them!

Happy crafting!
Emma

She claimed me for a japanese knot bag, and threw in a little kindle case (which has been jacked by my fella) that has this neat cthulu/dragonish? embroidery on it.

Thank you so much!! :)

Round 108 is open!!!

Sign ups for Round 108/October 2014 link (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=435899.msg5247394#msg5247394)

Ive set #108 to go for the entire month of October and not to spill over into Nov.

The current round is supposed to go until Oct 4th---Would anyone object if I were to close it on Sept 30th, so that it just runs month to month from the first day to the last day of the month?

Thanks!!

Today has been a good (but frustrating) day.

I gt given a sewing machine a few weeks ago and I haven't even tried it until today. Upon opening it, I discovered that it is brand new, fancy quality and ready to roll. Very good news!  ;D ;D

That said, I cannot get the tension right to actually sew. I'll keep plugging away!  >:(

If I give in, I'll try my grandmother's 60s Singer in the garage. I bet that still sews...

That mug rug is beautiful!

Schnerby, been there on the tension. I finally took it in to be tuned up and they told me it would cost more than the machine had cost new to get it into shape. Sorry if it seems a dumb question, but did you fiddle with the screw on the bobbin case? I never knew about bobbin tension until I did an internet search on how to fix my tension. It helped, but my real problem was with the upper tension.

Being a new machine it will take some fiddling about... I am having that problem with the thread bunching below the work. The issue is that the top thread tension is out but I have tried all combinations. I have adjusted the bobbin tension (once I found it! it isn't a dumb question as I now adjust it from the top of the machine. Thank you manual download :) ) but I really just need my mum to fly home tonight (as she is) so I can pick her up, take her to her house and get the machine working! She hasn't seen it yet but she has a magic touch :)

I have cut everything for Jemimah's project but I just need to join it all together. I finally get to use up a little bit of a really lovely fabric I've had laying about for ages without a purpose. Win!

I'm about to sign up for 108

I've received my two claims from sheepBlue today, and it is such a perfect package!

We had something Calvin & Hobbes and supplies, and a crochet cowl and jewelry, and here they are:

The most adorable stamp! I love this scene, and the stamp is so beautifully made, as you can also see from the print on the envelope.

A measuring tape bracelet, so cute! And it fits so comfortably, just my size!

Here is the cowl (with the roll of freezer paper, as I didn't take an extra picture or a group shot this will have to do) all fluffy and cuddly, with two big wooden buttons. So pretty!

An Anne cozy, fits perfectly! And it is so warm, hmmmm, good for a tense neck! And when I get a little time next week or so, I'll start on that freezer paper and try my hand at stencil cutting. I've been trying to decide on which shirts I'll practice, probably on my jammies first...

SheepBlue, thank you so much, I love it all!

(I just noticed, not pictured is the handmade card, it says hello... drat.)

And welcome back Watsonc7, long time no swap! I've been missing you.

eta: Hey wait, I had a fourth picture, to go with the Anne cozy, here is proof:

Oh my gosh, Schnerby. That is EXACTLY the problem I have had with my last three machines. Bunching underneath the work. I know its a tension issue. I can sometimes sew for quiet a while without the issue. But if there is any problem that creeps up that is the one. So frustrating. I'm sorry its happening to you. Sad

I have noticed its worst when I am using a bobbin that is getting close to low (not empty...but a bobbin that is like under 1/4 left full of thread). Oh and the thread matters, too. I cant use low quality thread that comes in combination packs with lots of colors. Its just a mess in my machines. And dusting the bobbin area has worked out, too. But nothing has been able to end the issue for me completely. If anyone here has ideas I am all ears.

Hi everyone! I just joined for 108. Its my first time in this swap and I am really nervous about my list. I dont know if what I am requesting is mostly in the range of "medium" but I figure I can adjust my list as I learn from all of you. Smiley

Oh that dandelion mugrug is amazing! I am making mugrugs for the mugrug swap today. So much fun! Im thinking of just sewing the binding on the outside by hand so I dont have to wrestle with my machine. We will see how brave I am when I get to that point. Smiley

What a great cowl. That looks so toasty. Im bracing for winter here with a bunch of yarn projects. I love that measuring tape bracelet!

Gah! It still won't work properly. I wound the bobbin on a different machine (theory was that it might be too loose) but that didn't totally fix it. I used my grandmother's 50 year old machine to make Jemimah's parcel but the binding just would not behave! I had to sew it on both layers at once rather than from the underside and hand sew the back. Ridiculous machine! Although I think that one just needs a service and I doubt mine will be functioning in 60 years time. I will make something little extra for Jemimah because the binding really does look like a bodge job  ::)

Lovely stuff so far! I look forward to seeing more things appear. I might just have to sign up for the next round :)

Post by: Averia on October 02, 2014 03:34:30 AM
The bunching was the same problem my old singer had. Some days it would sew and sew without a problem, then the next day I would only get a few stitches and the top thread would come unthreaded from the tension guide. So very frustrating when it happened over and over. Other times, rethreading the top thread worked for a while.

I still use my Mum's old Elna from the 80's. I was having tension problems recently and getting it serviced worked miracles. It's so frustrating having to keep stopping and starting all the time!  :-\  I'm sure I'll love whatever you make schnerby :)

i had purchased a kenmore in 83 when we got married, it lasted till last year when it more or less froze up on me. i had already bought a brother with 100+ stitches and that sat in the box for 9 months cuz i was intimadated by it and when the kenmore finally died, i got the brother open and love love love it! I also got a vintage treadle machine from the late 1800s or very early 1900s at a rummage sale about 2 blocks down the street from me, paid $60 the original price it sold for when new. the gal said she has several others, this one runs, i have not tried it, but its cool.

here are a couple pix of the old girl.....

some day I'll have her up and running :)

Jemimah's parcel is addressed and ready to go. I'm ready for bed, but I will get it off first thing in the morning.

I have avoided my marking by putting my hair up in rag curlers I made out of old pyjamas (no reason. Curly hair not required) and making another two Christmas puddings. Ah, Sunday. You're going to be a busy night before school.

That runner is beautiful. I love your table, too. The legs are awesome.

That sunflower quilt is so beautiful. Did you machine quilt and then add the buttons and beads afterward? I love the texture. The colors are so cheery.

I just made a claim for a moon jar. I am really excited. I saw that on the first post by frosty and went searching. I had never seen one before and I want some really bad. I am going to go materials shopping for it this weekend. I hope everything is available. I know that the solar lights are kind of seasonal, sometimes. If not then maybe Ill find some online?

i literally yelled "Ive hit the motherload!" when i came across 4 books about ___________'s and one about _____'s at the vinnies, which was the 4th thrift grandson and I hit today. Now I have some awesome things I can claim a few folks with after I rip em apart and do a round of modge podge :)

also nabbed a ton of tshirts with son's college on them, as well as packers, brewers, couple badgers and a few that folks ive claimed in the past are looking for, and a couple for Grab a Coffee towards her tshirt quilt.

Overall it was a great afternoon, boy fell asleep on the way home, but i got some shimmery thread to work on his spiderman/superheros quilt to the spider web part.

heres a pic of what i had done the other day.....

the light blue lines in the background are a big web behind spider man and im gonna use the opaque white shimmery coats metallic thread on those, might not do them all but it will be cool in the background. ive got lots more done than this the last couple of days. its fun. the back is the superhero pattern you can see just a wee bit at the bottom, and it will fold over to be the edging as well. cotton batting in the middle. the spiderman is a panel i got somewhere.

he has seen me with the thing folded up and asked "hey thats super heros!" and i just replied, "i dont think so." to kind of throw him off. he won't go snooping in my craft room, its too messy LOL

I just got some more fabric painting medium as my old bottle has gone a bit dry. Means I can get started on the shirts for Make a Coffee :)

EDIT: I was also getting low on freezer paper (I have to swap for it or by a metre from eBay, we can't buy it in Australia) so I decided to try a pad of disposable paper palettes I bought from a cheapy shop. It's waxed on one side and, surprisingly, it works just as well. Problem solved for the future!

Thanks so much for posting a pic of what I sent you frosty772; I know I took pix but idk where they wandered off to.

I've started to leave feedback for round 107, but with several of our participants across the pond or down under, shipping takes a bit longer. Isn't it difficult to wait to see these crafted goodies??

Please let me know via pm if I have your claim marked wrong as far as if you've sent or received.

Tomorrow I will have in my hot little hands some new fabric for part of my claim so that I can get the rest of the goodies off to Estzer in Hungary.

I had a funny find today while thrift shopping... I came across this shirt and facebooked it to Estzer saying look what I found!

Wasn't expecting to see a shirt from where she lives in my area when I was out looking for (among other things) tshirts to send to her! We both had a good laugh over it (no I didn't buy it). Isn't it wonderful that I could snap a pic and share it with her on the otherside of the world almost in a few seconds?? (we are only 4,722 miles apart!)

That's a great haul frosty!!

I just received the most fantastic package from zombiecazz!! I love it!!

My hubby brought in the parcel .... "what's this? some of your craftster stuff I suppose ..."  ::)

I said "Oooooooh!!" and promptly ripped it open, and when I saw what it was, before I took it out of the wrapping, my face must have lit up ......  :D

.... because hubby said, "what is it?"  ::)

I said, "what's my favourite thing?" :D

"..... it's a dalek, isn't it ....."  ::)

It IS a dalek, a fab quilted dalek bag!! With bonus cat pouch!!

Thank you so much zombiecazz - there's so much work and thought and creativity that's gone into them, and I will really enjoy using them!! ;D

it's awfully comforting to know that while I am sitting here folding sheet after sheet of tiny origami paper Anne is tying knot after knot on her claims :D It's funny how little patience I have for some things and other things I can do for hour after hour.

p.s. Son is fasting power washing his insides with 12 doses of mirilax and 96 ounces of fluids after 4 weeks of constipation - I'm still a bit boggled that this is the recommendation of the johns hopkins specialist we saw yesterday and am sooo hoping it works. For anyone with religious leanings, we would appreciate your prayers.

Make sure he's playing close to the bathroom. Once things start moving he will be frequently running for the bathroom with very little notice.
My dad used to take two small packets from the pharmacy before colonoscopy. Colon cancer meant he had to have colonoscopies every six months for about five years. :p he was not a happy camper.

Oh Sylvan, I feel awful for your father. I was sure Jacob was going to need one, but they said to try this whole fast/purge thing first. On the positive side, I have gotten to sit next to him doing nothing but browsing the web and crafting all morning while he draws in his sketch book. He has a very unique style of drawing and I love seeing him spend so much time involved in creating.

Hey schnerby, I never used to be able to find freezer paper here in NZ either, but very recently saw some at Spotlight of all places!! Dunno if it was a reasonable price though .... but it might be worth asking again? :)

Love the bag and pouch (kitty!!)...

jemimah--that is what you can carve into your lino block!

I received an awesome Tardis stamp from kbrison and I just love it so much!

I am going to try a Dalek on my own... ;D.

averia--prayers that your son gets some relief, which I am sure he will...Miralax is a miracle...it really helped my mom a lot.

I wonder why freezer paper is hard to get in some countries...what do you wrap your food in to freeze?

That's why it's called Freezer Paper?!?!
So you wrap food before freezing it? What is the benefit?
My family has always put food straight into containers or ziplocks.
Though thinking on it, I do put wax paper between layers of cookies. But that's more to stop them from knocking about.
Freezer paper has reached Canada, but I haven't used it for crafting yet. I just use Mac Tack :p

Hey guys,

I don't understand any word, what's happening Averia's son, but I hop, he is getting better soon. (I claimed you, Ave, maybe that will cheer you up a bit.. :))
Anyway, I have got an awesome package from Gingerpeachy (I already brag about it in Facebook lol :)). She claimed me for Starbucks surprise, and I've got a big box of awesomeness!
A big Starbucks mug with CALIFORNIA ... I soooo love it! Reminds me, when I had my honeymoon there... love it soooo much!

Also, she filled the box with amazing things:
Beautiful blue fabric jelly roll:

2 strings of pearls, beautiful big ones:

And 2 tic-tac "containers"... - well, someone stole these instantly, so the rest of these are laying down at the top of the staircase right now :)

Ginger, thanks a lot for the package, I loooove everything!

lol The freezer paper is coated so we wrap mostly our meats and chicken in it to keep them from getting freezer burns (you know, the crystals from forming and affecting the quality)...see thru or other plastic wrap allows moisture to form and the crystals...the other side is paper so you can write on it with what it is and the date...mostly it is used to make the smaller portions from big meat or chicken packs...

Our butcher wraps our meat and chicken for us, so I mostly use it for stencils and crafting, but I keep at least two rolls on hand at all times...it is very inexpensive...maybe $4 per roll?

Hey Ave, vehement agnostic well-wishes for your youngest one (eyes shut and fingers crossed!). Poor kid.

And in other news: I received two caims from Grab a coffee today, I am stunned! So great! But you'll all have to wait to see until tomorrow, when I'm on my own here and there is some light outside.

eta: We used to use just containers and freezer baggies when I was a kid (no zip lock, you just tie a knot as close as possible to the food), I can buy freezer paper here on amazon for 10 A4 sheets for 8 Euros, I think it was... I wouldn't mind a roll or two! sheepBlue sent me a huge piece just the other day, I love it!

I am wondering if this freezer paper is the one we have here in Hungary? ... Well, it's really costs nithing here... I am using it for cooking too (especially when I am finishing my polymer clay things :)), but using it for making templates too. Will check if it's the same, I can send out some in my next claims.
Oh, and Ave, when I saw that jelly roll, I already knew what to make for you with them... but you have to wait... I have another type of things already planned for you! :p

freezer paper isn't like parchment. Sometimes it is called butcher paper. It is regular paper on one side and waxed (or plastic coated) paper on the other. This makes it perfect for cutting stencils and ironing onto shirts.

Title: Re: Ongoing Wish Swap Round 107, 108 Gallery & Discussion
Post by: schnerby on October 16, 2014 03:56:48 AM
Yeah I don't get the purpose of wrapping food to freeze... I just use plastic containers or bags. Still, I have found a substitute! Disposable paper palettes from a cheapy shop  - 40 sheets for $2.50AUD. Cheap as and waxed on one side. Irons on just fine and comes off without residue. I've just used a sheet to make a shirt for Grab a Coffee. Very please to find something I can get locally and cheaply to do stencils on fabric.

I also just recieved from Anna.Wahnsinn. A very beautiful and superbly neat letter organiser for my wall. It is much needed and in fab colours. It is late night here so my photos are turning out absolutely terribly so I will take a nice one once the sun comes up in the morning. Thank you so much! It's a lovely surprise getting happy mail, even when you know it is coming :)

Hey schnerby, you are very welcome! I wish I made two right from the start, I wanted to keep that one so bad!

And as it is around noon here (more or less) I now have some daylight pictures for you from my combined 107/108 claims from Grab a coffee!

First, here is the beads/beading material with a Burda easy sewing magazine (in German, and easy is always good!) and a card plus closeups of the beads:

This is nearly a pound of beads, regular seed beads, rondelles, large seed, and twisted black bugle beads.

Do you see all that glittery goodness?

And then Grab a coffee claimed me for an infinity scarf in 107, but she must have had problems deciding on a colour scheme, so I got two!

A larger, slouchier one in black, white and grey:

And a tighter one in blue with blue, purple and teal flowers!

(okay, the picture turned the colours around; i swear that the scarf is basically blue, and the flowers are teal. weird.)

I'll have to defend these every day when I hand over or pick up my little one, it is as if you made them especially for our two daycare mommies!

Thank you so much Grab a coffee, I feel very spoiled, as always!

It's been a happy mail time for me!

Jemimah sent these sweet coasters. Beautifully made and they look lovely on my bookcase ready to be used. I am now no longer int he bizarre adults group who don't own coasters. :) They're a rich red rather than slightly pinkish as in this photo.

Also, she made these four fab cards. Elegant and simple with watercolour and pen - can't wait to send some cards.

Thank you so much.

I received a seriously awesome basket haul in round 107! First our lovely organizer sent me a HUGE and lovely yellow ombre basket, and earlier this week these beauties showed up from littlefawnpug!

I tried to wait and kept some pictures when the sun was out but when you leave the house before 6 am and don't get home until after 7 that's kindof an impossibility  :P

Still these are lovely and I got a few detail shots of the green and pink baskets:

Thank you so much, littlefawnpug! I absolutely loooooveeee the green one- it's going to be perfect in my living room and I didn't even know I needed that color ;)

Welcome from over here, too!

I tweaked my list a bit, and highlighted "urgent" wishes. I probably should add more small stuff that is easy to send, hm? I'll try to add some more later. I have to go and make at least one skirt for the little one now before I pick her up because the ones she has so far are all in the laundry...  :D

Welcome Quantumphysica!!!!

Anna, your package is done, I am just waiting for payday on tomorrow (friday) :)

I will be setting up round 109 in a few days, today im at the sewing machine and craft table! I just got a great idea for something for the anatomy swap I'm in and also need to get my bug swap project going but have a fun start on it. I found a cool item to use at the thrift store, something totally unexpected caught my attention and Im gonna go with it LOL

I found a fun pattern for making a purse out of a sweat shirt, here it is for those who might want to give it a try...

http://patternpile.com/sewing-patterns/upcycled-sweatshirt-purse-pdf-sewing-pattern/ (http://patternpile.com/sewing-patterns/upcycled-sweatshirt-purse-pdf-sewing-pattern/)

Please post pix if you try it! I have a sweat shirt of our son's college team and he plays a football (US) game on saturday, and I want to try to make it for that game. I might need to shop for some of the fusables but I find the shirts at thrift stores, and just think how fun this would be to have--a one of a kind!!

Happy crafting to you all!

Jewelry would be great, Quantumphysica! I'll browse some more tonight to find more small things. But I had a peek at your posts this afternoon, and I love your molecule pendants. Have you considered chocolate, theobromine and sugar? Or alcohol? The possibilities! (Okay, now I want those! Do you mind if I just add those to my list? Small, easy to send...)

And thank you rscowtown, I'm very excited about those cushions!

I went through my bead stash and realized that I don't own enough large round beads that are sufficiently pretty for the solar system pendant, so I'm afraid that one won't make the package… But everything else will be heading your way by next week!
(Also, Alcohol is all in all a rather boring molecule -C2H6O1 is very small when made in the carbohydrate notation- so do you possibly have other molecular jewelry wishes?)

Don't worry about the molecules. Small is fine. I think I even had t-shirts with alcohol and theobromine pinned even (or wisted), I really don't mind that they are not complicated or anything. To me they would be, chemistry lessons were a long, long time ago. Would endorphines give better possibilities? Or maybe craft related stuff, glass for beads, or some type of crystal; maybe cotton for thread or steel for scissors, needles, knives?

And don't worry about the solar system, I would really really love the molecule pendants, they are a good claim already, and then you are even adding cardstock!

i got me a pounding piece of metal but really dont have a good surface to put that onto that wont get ruined or is strong enough (lots of plastic tables here) to hold it and the beating.

I am thinking of 2 courses of bricks with a piece of fabric over the top of it to help muffle the sound rather than the bare metal pounding piece right on the brick, would help it from moving around too?

might have to hit the concrete place in town for the bricks :)

How is everyone doing with their claims?

Maybe a layer of extra thick felt, that 3-5mm stuff? I use that ot my sewing machine mat (towel-lined cotton fabric).

What are you using for the pounding piece? I use my vise so far, and found some piece of metal in the basement, but they aren't really smooth.

My claims are coming along smoothly, I even have to frog a piece on one for Grab a coffee (made it too long, estimated time 5 minutes, we'll see  ;)), but both will be sent tomorrow, and I have the basic materials for Watsonc7's mystery pouch thing - just have to decide what to use for the outside fabric.

the pounding piece is a 3" square piece, about 1 inch tall of metal, i think it was labeled a pounding block, specifically for doing the metal stamping. its smooth and heavy! LOL steel i think. it was $11.99 minus 40% coupon so a nice deal and it had been there in the store for several months lonely as it was the only one; it has a new home now here :)

Did everyone else know that Grab a coffee had mad skills with clay? I had no idea, but check out this adorable cutie. I just love the expression on his little face. He seems to be saying "Please love me and be my new Mama"

and the view of the back

Also in this package was a contribution from Eszter's mom! She knitted a huge bunch of inchies! Eszter embellished quite a few for me and left a bunch for me to use as a blank canvas for my own embellishments. The picture doesn't do them justice... the prettiest to me is a white one with a row of beading that doesn't show at all in the picture :(

Thank you Eszter and Eszter's mom!

That dragon is incredibly cute!

And speaking of Grab a coffee, I got my claim today, too!

Here is an abundance of floss for my Midsummer Eve project (as things are going I won't be starting before Fall 2015):

This is more than half of what was still missing, 19 skeins, so one of these days I'll be winding down in the evening by winding up the floss... After the kids are in bed, I have yet to untangle the last project Lea got into.

It seems that this was not enough, because I got a lovely extra, a silver dragonfly ring (and I felt spoiled with all the floss already!)

Fits both pinky fingers just great, and it's so cute!

Thank you so much Eszter, I always enjoy to be claimed by you! And now I'm extra glad that I shoved in a few extras in your package yesterday, too...

Thank you all for a fantastic round 107!!

I will be setting up round 109 hopefully tonight or tomorrow.

There are still 2 days left to claim for round 108 we are at 30 claims!! wowzers!

Hooray for 107 being done, thanks for organizing rscowtown! And of course thanks for going on!

But the main reason I'm posting right now (and then I'll have to pack up Watsonc7's claim) is that I received my lovely molecule pendants from QuantumPhysica today! And as promised she added glittery papers (loads) and some turquoise chips, so pretty!

Here are the papers as a starter, all shiny and different embossed prints, just perfect to line that set of mini shelves I have been longing to decorate, and to use in my planner!

I sorted them a bit by colour, as you can see I have my favourites in front.

And here are the molecules, and the lovely handmade card (and the chips!):

So great! Alcohol, sugar, and theobromine (the happy stuff in chocolate). Choccy and sugar I should be careful with, and alcohol and babies just don't mix well, so now I have these lovelies as stand-ins!

Thank you very much again Quantumphysica, I love it all!

and the paper is sooo pretty! Love the molicules and that you included a reference QP!

You all send such wonderful claim items!! If you haven't posted a picture of what you have receved PLEASE do so, we all want to ooh and ahh over your new items :)

And Whitterp, no you won't receive negative feedback; someone else asked me that recently and I asked Averia about it. She said I'd just have to put in a ticket and let them know you need to be removed from the swap and it just is taken off your swap list on your profile, sort of as if you had not joined.

Oops I missed Ave's post on that question :)

 I've just set up Round 109...  (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=436492.0)

New round, new month tomorrow...Why not update your wish list? add a few new items, put a Pinterest link so we can fly to your Pinterest page and see it!

Don't forget to have at least 15 supply items as per the sign up info on the main page of the swap info/sign up thread. What supplies do you go thru a lot of? Threads? what colors, and brand? glue dots? got your eye on a new pair of scissors? add it to your wish list! You never know :)

Sometimes its difficult to come up with supply items or even wish list items, but resist that urge to say "oh i can make that for myself sometime..." One of our wonderful crafters could make it for you! Let us use our talents or tackle a new craft to grant you a wish list item!

Yay smileyyogini, glad you like that necklace! My little one is taking a very active interest right now in whatever I'm doing, but I was glad I got to tie most of those knots by myself.  :D

I've got a lot (means A LOT!) orders in my shop, so I might will pass on OWS in November, but I'll sneakpeak, what are you doing here guys, and will check every items you've got from each others! :) (I am also in late with Ave's package, will finish her coasters today :()

I am going to s---t---r---e--c--h out this round 109 to go thru December as well as November, and am planning on Round 110 to start January 1st. If you want to hop out of the round, and have sent and your claim is received, just pm me. Remember if you don't make a claim, in a round, you will NOT get negative feedback--pm me and I can have the swap removed from your list.

I would also like to propose a Christmas/Holiday/Winter Season card exchange within the group, only if you wish to join. Personally I haven't sent out Christmas cards in years, but I miss doing cards, especially since I make my own. I would love to receive a card you've made too :) (cards don't have to be hand made, but we are crafters....just say'in)

Let me know if you'd like to send cards as well and I will add you to the list on the main page of round #109. Addresses will be sent to you via PM, only if you pm me telling me you want to participate in the card exchange.

Oooh yes, good idea! Both the extendend version as well as the Christmas cards! I was making some cards with my little one the other day just because, feeling a bit sad that we wouldn't have to think about who might want one of those... Now I have a good reason to prepare more attractive cards, yay!

Sorry for the delay in posting my goodies!  I received two really great swap packages, from Jemimah and Grab a coffee

Jemimah sent me a very lovely apron, and some AMAZING chocolate.

The apron has already gotten quite a bit of use, and the chocolate is already long gone.  Thanks so much!

Grab a coffee sent me several mug cozies, some scrapbooking supplies (stack of paper not pictured), and some heart-shaped buttons!

We might have to get some bigger mugs to fit two of the cozies, but you can never have too many mugs! :)  I'm very excited about the heart-shaped buttons because they will make perfect little eyes for the owl sweater I'm knitting right now.  Thanks so much!

I love the idea of extending rnd 109 for 2 months and the Christmas cards sound so fun.  Espeically since last year I sent our personalized handmade cards to family and inlaws and only 5 people sent a card back.  Bummer man!  Alright, I need to send in my 109 questionnaire now.

I just received an awesome embroidery pouch from anna.wahnsinn.  I am laid up on the couch with what is starting to feel like the flu, so this was an awesome little treat to get today.  Forgive the pictures, it's nighttime so I had to find a bright spot in the house.

Here it is folded up with an adorable lil owl button.  It's actually double folded, if I had an embroidery hoop in there it would be double the width when closed/folded.

Here it is opened. It has so much storage, I'm giddy!  3 large pockets to fit supplies and hoops...2 button loops to hold extra hoops in the center....and on the right a felt needle holder and awesome pouch.  I really wanted to fill it up and take a picture that way, I'm so excited to organize my embroidery stuff in there...but getting me off the couch to take pictures was about as far as my sickly self can go tonight :(

Anna, you know I'm a huge fan!  Thank you so much!

We've had our first 2 claims in round 109, Kittykill claimed me and i claimed her right back cuz i had recently made something and I think she will be the perfect recipient for it (and i can send it with another swap where she is my partner) soooo off to crafting now, then vote in a few hours.

For the card exchange, I have 3 of us listed so far, please PM me so I know to add you to the list :)

Lovely organizer Anne!

So I am a pack rat... I'm storing an awful lot of lovely things my mother and grandmother owned. So much that my basement storage area overflowed into the garage. I am even storing a box that I didn't have the heart to go through until today because the last time we shifted it, I heard the unmistakable tinkle of broken lovelies inside. Today I pulled it out because I was thinking there might be a slight chance that there would be an unbroken tea cup and saucer for making a teacup pincushion. Yes to the teacup but no to the saucer :(

It had me thinking tho... maybe someone is interested in making broken china jewelry? Would anyone like some broken china? Not as a claim or anything, just to make me feel better about the loss... http://www.pinterest.com/pattytootie/handmade-jewelry-broken-china/ It is Noritake Rothschild http://www.robbinsnest.com/noritake/rothschild.html I could fit some nice size edge pieces in a flat rate box... Just an idea.

Ok, stop the presses and focus right here!

Look at what Averia made. It's unbelievable.

Yes, that's origami. I cannot fathom the time that went into making the pieces and the cord.

There it was on my doorstep this morning. Ok, well, there was a box and this was inside. Luckily it is insanely hot today and no rain in sight. I had to wait to get home to take a picture though as I was on my way out when I saw it.

Thank you so much. I love it!

It could be an ornament - It's a kusudama flower ball. Japanese origami originally filled with flowers and herbs to ward off sickness and either hung in the home or worn on a belt. I just love making all these little cones (60 of them) and fitting them together into a perfect dodecahedron.

Ooh, that black and white kusudama is beautiful! I just popped in very quickly to say I received the floor pillow cases from our lovely organizer today (and a tote bag and two t-shirts and a mug rug), and I'll get some pictures later today after the little one has finished her nap. Such a great (and huge!) package, thank you very very much rscowtown!

Okay, so here they are: rscowtown claimed me for two floor pillow cases for my kids, and then I got some extras. But first let's see the claim. The pillow cases are huge, I didn't have enough material to stuff even the small one, but as you can see they work just fine for a start:

The little one (after having some yoghurt):

And the large one:

Do you see how proud my little one is? Although I have to admit it was hard to have her sit still long enough, she only just started walking on her own last weekend, an now she just won't stop...

Pretty cool for one claim, right? But there was more: A tote bag made from a pillow case, two band tees (Pink Floyd and Van Halen, I grew up with their music!) and the cutest christmassy mugrug!

The colours didn't come over quite right, the tote bag is rather more purple than blue... And here is another shot of the mugrug! This is actually my favourite part of the package, it is so cute and whimsical (and I'm the one who gets to use it!):

Thank you so much, rscowtown, we are going to have a lot of fun with your package for a very long time!

you are so very welcome! What fun it is to see your girls on the pillows!
The fabrics called to me at the thrift store and I thought they were nice and thick for floor pillows.
Love the note on the mug on the mug rug :)

And it's me again, the things you do at 2am while waiting for the baby to go back to sleep... Anyway, as Grab a coffee is very busy at the moment I offered to show what I sent to her for my two claims, so here we go:

A necklace for her mom, my daughter helped me design (well, tweak a design from etsy) & string: She insisted there had to be a drop bead on every little edgy thing instead of only every other one, and then sat by me for over an hour to fiddle those drop beads onto my beading needle while losing only one. I was very impressed! (And a bit relieved when she wanted to get up and run around and I got to continue on my own...)

Then I claimed her again, but what I wanted to make didn't turn out, then I didn't have the supplies for option 2, and then my life got turned a little topsy turvy, so I took it out on a little piece of metal... and another:

And I added some stash, but that picture didn't turn out so good: Memory wire and aluminum wire and beads: freshwater pearls, moonstone, and rondelles:

I'm waaaayyyy behind! My sincere apologies!

I received this earbud holder from Frosty772. I'm planning to put it in my dad's stocking at Christmas. :)

Thanks Frosty! I'm sure he will love it!

I also received a package from Watson, she claimed me for some coffee cozies and some vinyl cutouts

And she made them reversible!

I can't decide which sides I like better. :p

She also claimed me for some vinyl cutouts, so that I can give everyone in my family a piece of the lake.

So here is one of them on an ornament. I haven't figured out how I'm going to keep the sand from spilling out, but man does this look gorgeous even on its own!

She gave me a few extra for oopses, for which I am grateful! I'm going to have a bit of a job getting these done.

thank you, Watson!!

Thanks, both of you! I really appreciate these packages. :)

Nice!

I used glue to fill the caps on my glass ornaments...just be sure to put them in a cup or something so no glue falls into the glass...mine was to keep glitter from falling out, but I am sure sand would work, too!

hey QP!! I picked up some more seed beads for you today at Joanns (and of course got myself a few fat quarters; i really try not to buy more fabric [ya right!] but who can resist?)

I should get it in the mail by Thursday. Which would mean that every claim in round 108 will have been shipped and we will be waiting on the last 8 claims shipped to make their way to their new homes! yay!!

We now have 16 wonderful crafters in round 109; 9 claims so far, two of which are already winging their way to their new homes; and 7 signed up for the card exchange. I will be pm'ing the addresses of us 7 tonight.

Should anyone else wish to join us in making cards, just PM me and I can add you at any time.

So...how is the weather where you live? I'm in Wisconsin and today it was rain this am, then rain snow mix, then just 31 degrees (f). This was our 2nd snow so far this fall, had a dusting that covered the grass the other day but it melted quickly.

Looking forward to a quick reply on here from others in the group if ya can :)

Thanks!!!

Snow? Oh no, not here, not yet please. We are getting chilly nights here in Germany (in Bremen, that is), but during the day we are somewhere in the fifties, between 10-15°C. And as long as it stays like that until tomorrow night, all will be well. After that, I don't care, but I have this last bus trip today and tomorrow...

In other news, I started Christmas card making... 100% of three year olds in this household insist on gluing things on things and then putting stickers on that. Results vary. As the saying here goes: ...And glue. Lots of glue... I might have to do some prep work for next time instead of starting to sort the stuff on the kitchen table. Especially because I was thinking about glitter... maybe better confetti. And find something for the little one, because she definitely wanted to join in. Long story short: I might be sending out weird cards. Or add bought ones if I ever find my stash, so the recipients can recognize the season...

Yay! I'm already looking forward to the packages! ^_^

The weather here isn't wintery at all yet; it's not even close to freezing! (12°C, maybe?) Here in Belgium we usually only have frost and snow in the December-Februari period. We do have lots of rain, and the sky in this period is always grey and cloudy.
Also, it's my birthday this week, November 15! I have a slight hope that perhaps this year my wish will be fulfilled and I will get a sewing machine from my parents... :D

It is sunny and nearly 60 degrees in Central, Pennsylvania!  But, the deep freeze is on its way for this weekend and next week...I expect we will be cold, but no snow.

I am in New Jersey this week and they are having the same weather...sunny and mild!  Too bad I have to spend it inside at a conference! ;D

Weather in South Carolina.... Well there's a high of 74 degrees today and 12 days ago it snowed. So that should tell you something  :P
It's around mid 40 degrees in the morning and low 60s during the sunny part of the day *normally* at this time of year so we're a little off.

As for the swap, I just made my second claim! I have all the supplies I need for lydiaharper's purse and rscowtown's knit washcloths and scrubbies and can hopefully get a lot done before all the fun this weekend! (We're going to visit friends and attend a beer festival and I can't wait!)

The text on the vinyl says "Emma Lake", where my grandma's cabin is. A ten hour drive to go visit. She has since moved to my city, as all her children have left the city they grew up in.
It's a lake in Northern Saskatchewan so small it used to not be in atlases!

I got a gorgeous parcel from Averia!!

She claimed me for a tissue box cover, but what she made went way beyond a nice box shape in fabric. She made a truly beautiful, hand embroidered, linen one - it's perfect!! ;D

.... but wait, there's more!! it's reversible!! with fabulous batik patchwork in delicious colours AND a matching mug rug!!!!

It's absolutely gorgeous Averia, thank you SO much!

Thank you Jemimah! I have to give credit where credit is due - I saw this picture and thought the simple yet pretty design needed to go on more than a coin purse. https://www.flickr.com/photos/brianinsanfran/6206372233/. I know it is probably sexist of me to be so impressed by this guys flicker stream, but his embroidery is lovely.

On to the lovelies I have received :) First up, Grab a coffee sent me beautiful denim coasters with crocheted flowers, drawing inspiration from a couple different pins on my pinterest. They are perfect for me!!! Getting 6 is extra nice since we have 6 in the family and usually end up mixing and matching sets at the kitchen table.

I also received from our fabulous organizer - She claimed for a cargo scarf (it has pockets for wallet and phone) and sent me a beautiful extra to go with it. I'm not sure if the extra is meant to be another scarf or a table runner, but I'm thinking it works perfectly as a table runner on my table so that is how I plan to use it. I have 4 more leaves that aren't in at the moment and I can't wait to see how pretty it will be when the table is open all the way. The scarf is so nicely long, and so soft on the inside, and the outside is a perfect fabric for me! I love it!!!

Thank you Eszter & Laurel!!!

What lovely things everyone is making/getting!

Love the simplicity of the embroidery on the tissue cover and of course, batik!

The coasters are also on my list of things I would love to have (need to add to my own list, that is!)...

Lovely scarf and I also like the idea of the runner on your table!

oooh those linen tissue boxes are awesome, er box lol LOVE that its made reversable! and a bonus mug rug!

The black and white extra I sent Averia is a scarf, but great idea using it as a table runner! We have a huge table, I think 110" long, and its great when a runner fills it up more rather than getting lost on it :)

WOW! Everything is just amazing!

Rscowtown painted me the most beautiful seascape. I really needed these-it has been very cold here and now I can hang my paintings and dream on sand on my toes and sun on my face. Thank you so much! They are wonderful!

The weather here is mid 40s.  I ain't complaining about it though.  I moved from a colder climate a few years back so this is no big deal.  Rest assured this area rarely gets snow or ice and seeing that tomorrow it will be in the 60s I am a happy camper.  It makes me especially happy knowing that it'll be the 60s here and back where my parents/sibling and in laws live...they are getting snow, ice and freeeeeezing temperatures.  I;m like "no thank you!" I will just stay here in this lovely state and enjoy a winter without all that.

Anyways I am enjoying the gallery.  I want to claim but, I have to finish another swap crafting first.  So, it'll probably be the end of November before I get a claim in.

Round 108 is almost done! Everyone but me has sent out and we are only waiting on 4 (plus mine) to be received! My package to QP will go out on Monday as im not good with time management sometimes and I'd like another 12 hours in each day JUST for crafting!! as would we all :)

Thanks so much everyone for another wonderful round!

Please oh please post your pictures if you haven't cuz the rest of us would love to see what's been sent/received.

PM me if i have any of your posted info on swaps not accurate and I will update.

Today I received 5 lovely scrappy placemats from Leighi123--pictures tonight when i get home from work! They are awesome :)

I got a bunch of tiny polished rocks from rscowtown.   Levi mixed them in with some bigger rocks and marbles he had already, and made a spot for his hermit crab to play in.

The little rocks are going to end up in a smaller bowl when I can find one, for a meditation type thing that Levi saw at a Native American festival.   Levi is a "sensory seeker" kinda kid so enjoys sensory type experiences - playing with tiny rocks is relaxing, and fun!

Welcome back Allie, and thanks for the claim! I loved everything you sent in round 100, and still use some of the things on a regular basis (especially the craft on tin, that is what I use for carrying the current beading project around). Lea still wears the Coco shirt, she loves it so much, even though he is pretty tattered by now!

QP what kind of machine did you get? your very first one? cool! Yes they would be a good beginner project, im making coasters for a claim and they are fun to just grab scraps and sew together till I have a rough size of 6" x 6" or so and finish them up. oh if i had more hours to just sit and sew each day!

Planning to FINALLY start on lydiaharper's claim tonight when I get home from work! This month has been a lot busier than I anticipated already! I do have next week off though which should give me plenty of time to work on some christmas presents after rscowtown's claim and maybe sneak in a final claim if I feel really inspired ;)

Here is a pic of grandson Logan holding one of the curtains I finished (saw a patchwork curtain on someone's pin list and thought hmmmmm I wanna do that for our bedroom since I'm next to the window) yesterday. Am working on the other now!

No claiming for me - I've got 4 packages to get out in the next few weeks :) It is about the max I can manage tho I am having fun with all of them.

On an almost totally unrelated to crafting note - My Jacob has an appointment set for scopes/biopsies to figure out what is wrong with his tummy. I really hope they can figure it out and get him better quickly. I've got to plan out my crafting so that I can have some portable crafts set up for that day.

I just got my package from Averia! It's dark right now so I can't take pictures, but it's an awesome package of charms and pendants, and I love everything!

I got two little sword charms, an arrow charm, and a wolf charm, two little Alice in Wonderland "drink me" bottles, a large sword pendant and a beautiful (and heavy!) quiver with an arrow attached to it. My Fëanorian charm bracelet project just got a whole lot closer to completion! ^_^

Thanks a lot!
I'll add pictures as soon as I have some decent light here :)

whoohoo QP! looking forward to seeing whatcha got :)

We had 4 more claims today--sweet!

I scored a huge box of fabric at the thrift store for $6.99, a box (that held 10 reams of paper), just full of stuff I can use. Only one piece I really don't want--anyone's girl(s) into Hanna Montana? Its a silky fabric, might make a nice pillow or several--I'd be glad to sew it up for ya into pillows (just lemme know size), or just send you the fabric, I think its about a yard, didn't measure it yet. I'm sure I won't use it and would love it to go to a loving home :)

Has anyone made an alzheimer's busy blanket or fidget apron! Hubby's dad could use one, and I'd love to hear if anyone has suggestions. I did find some on Pinterest, but if you used something that worked well or have knowledge of things that men would enjoy fidigiting with, please post or pm. He was an airplane mechanic, built over half dozen planes himself, and was a wonderful handyman. He had a stroke about a month ago, we visited him today, and I think a busy blanket would be great for him so I'm gonna work on one.

Have a great weekend all!

Jemimah sent me a lovely spoiler package! She claimed me for a piece of artwork for my kitchen. She sent all of this! The very special picture, a set of notecards, 2 brooches, a crafted notepad with wonderfully textured paper, and an all-included fox cross stitch kit.

Here is a close up of the picture. So whimsical, so beautifully done, such lovely color choices!

She also included these adorable hand made cards - 3 that have sewn patchwork hearts appliqued on and one that I refuse to use as a card and may frame and put next to the birds :D

Also included are 2 lovely brooches - can't you picture Queen Elizabeth wearing them? I have seen the tutorial pictures on pinterest so many times - cutting petals and burning the edges. Jemimah nailed it

Thank you Kirsten!

Such nice stuff. I am excited to craft this weekend. I was in the states two weekends ago visiting friends for my birthday and managed to shop at Joann's in three different cities (Ogdensburg, Watertown and Liverpool). When you live in Ottawa, ON in Canada you are severely fabric deprived.  We have a very limited number of stores that sell fabric and it is usually $12.00 - $20.00/meter and very limited selection. I am like a kid in a candy store in Joann's and the sales are always amazing. Let's just say I made the most out of crossing the border for over 48 hours... ;)

Let me know if I messed up on any please, but Round 108 is just a stone's throw from total completion wheeeeee!

I'm finishing up on some of my claims for 109, Mommythemaid, got your fleece yesterday :) and will be plotting the cord keepers fabrics; Smileyyogini, I have a bunch of coasters done and will be scoping fabric for the tote bag insert from my hoarde (between making freezer meals and putzing on the sewing machine with other gift ideas).

What's on your sewing machine, or hooks, or needles or craft table that you are working on?

My sewing machine is reworking something for Spikefan at the moment - The online tutorial didn't give measurements for the _____s and neglected to mention that the right side and left side ____s need to be slightly different lengths. Now that I did it, I realize it is obvious that they ought to be different. Some day I will realize I need to try out a new tutorial on scrap cloth before I try it on the good fabric.

Cookies cookies cookies! Does anyone else try to make half their Christmas cookies before Thanksgiving so you can serve some with the pie (for all of us who don't love pie)? I thought I was going to have a nice crafting day today but nope, it was a baking day. cut outs, pinwheels, snickerdoodles, peanut butter blossoms... anyone want to put cookies on their list? Though they probably would arrive as crumbs. I did a cookie swap once and got the most delicious cookies, but they didn't look so great after the journey.

Averia--we used to ship cookies to my dad when he was in Viet Nam...I remember my mom packing each one individually and placing cardboard between layers, etc. I think only soft or small cookies make it, but as you said, the crumbs are yummy!

i set up a cookie exchange here in town many years ago. it was advertised thru the newspaper, way back before internet. hardest part was telling people how many dozen to make, but it was fun, i think we had 15 or so participate. only did it one year. i miss sitting up late at night talking to my mom while she did cookies, and dd just isn't into doing that with me :(  our church has a cookie walk next weekend and im hoping to make a bunch for that event, we bag them in 1/4 pound bags so folks can just grab 4 bags of whichever they want for a pound. ive always made the cake mix cookies with choc chips or white choc chips in them, and kind of have a system of doing them. worst part is my back hurts from standing so long so i use a barstool that is just a smidge too short, but its fun.

Averia--we used to ship cookies to my dad when he was in Viet Nam...I remember my mom packing each one individually and placing cardboard between layers, etc. I think only soft or small cookies make it, but as you said, the crumbs are yummy!

I'm sure he felt the love and thoughtfulness in that package!

woo-hoo!  Finished rscowtown's fingerless mitts ! Since I did not have to host Thanksgiving dinner this year, I had some tome to craft and just relax!

I'll get them out to you on Monday when I return to work!  I designed them myself, so next I am going to write up a pattern so I can make myself a pair!

I finally got to open rscowtown's wonderfully generous supply package! My crappy webcam doesn't do the beads' vibrant colors any justice; there are so many in so many shades! I love them all!

Also, she put in two lovely crocheted coasters as an extra surprise. With the exams -and the coffee consumption that comes with it- on the horizon, those will certainly come in handy on my desk! ^_^

Thanks a lot!

smileyyogini sent me the nicest package!

I received some wonderful ATCS to help me complete my name!  I think I might be able to get the rest next round!

She also made me some much needed note cards...I use so many in swaps!  These are 3-D...and so full of blingy goodness! I always keep one of each set for my own collection...thanks so much (some of you in the OWS will get to see them in person!).  I love how she lined the inside with my favorite color!  :-*

I mailed out my two claims so I am done in November...hope to be able to do more in December as I am not joining any other swaps! ;D

Here are the journal pen holders from Lydiaharper. she made them adjustable as I wasn't sure what size journal or book they would be going on--going to give them to ladies at church :)

And she added some lovely beads and flat shells that would be super in suncatchers or mobiles...

Thanks so much Lydia! Love them all!

Lovely fabrics--and I am sure they would make great gifts!

You just slide a pen in the little pocket, then wrap the elastic cord around the open book/journal and hook it back onto the button at the bottom with the slip knot loop, and close the book.  It acts as a bookmark that way, too.

Glad you like them!  I designed them to fit snug in the wrist so they would stay put...they do stretch out in time but just pop them in the wash and they go back to snug!  We must have about the same measurements!  I love it when I can use my own feet and hands as fitting models! ;D

My cards for the card exchange might not make it out by Christmas, but they will go out.

I actually made mine via snapfish's website.  So they are made by me, I picked the backgrounds, I took the pictures & edited them on a photo program, then added them to online card, picked colors for the actual card.  But, then snapfish printed it all.  I hope that counts for handmade.  I was thinking some might be making them via-cutting out papers, stamping, drawing on blank cards.  But since Im not a paper crafter I make mine via snapfish every year.

I'm fine with cards thru snapfish--looking forward to seeing yours!

some years I would do almost 100 hand stamped and write something in each; some years the kids helped me assembly line; other years I bought cards; then I got lazy and haven't sent any out in a few years. I will rubber stamp these for our exchange, and have a couple ideas already :)

I know exactly what you mean.  I use to send cards to all my close family, parents, siblings, aunt, uncles, great aunts/uncles and a couple cousins. Then send them to the inlaw side of the family uncles, aunts ect.  And you know what, I would get maybe 7 in return.  I remember our first Christmas at our new address. I sent out a ton of cards along with a annual christmas letter.  You know, so everyone had our new address and knew how we were doing.  I bet we received maybe 5 cards that year too.  I refuse to do the whole social media thing.  Facebook, twitter all that.  Nope, aint doing it.  I will do email to my mom and my childhood friend.  But thats it.

I received my bracelet & charms from Alliekat today, I love the package! Pictures later, because I'm struggling myself to get a package out of the door today (second time this year I ran out of beads in the middle of a project... and I reordered in time, but they only arrived just now with the claim package) and three people to the dentist. We'll see...

The website tells me I have until Friday to send out any U.S. bound cards.
So tonight I'm going to make those cards while watching Rudolph with my tall, dark and bearded.

For the Americans in the Christmas card exchange....
Here's the US holiday deadlines, but I'm not sure what each class of mail *actually* means. I'm a Canadian. I know what Canada post does. :p

I am entertained that the US Postal Service thinks it takes the same amount of time to get something to Canada as to get something to Europe, however. ;)

First class mail is what is used for most cards and letters, so the deadline is Dec 20th.  I need to get my international ones out by tomorrow!

Of course, as in most "businesses" the date is probably moved forward to cover themselves.  I am guessing about a week.  Nobody complains if things get there early....;D.  It is a tried and true technique! ;D

Still so many lovely things here, OWS simply never gets boring. I'm trying to send out my christmas cards today, but it may turn out to be tomorrow, I'm a bit behind on everything at the moment.

So anyway, I received a lovely package yesterday, and here is my lovely bracelet from Alliekat914. It fits perfectly and has a whole boatload of craft charms, look:

All the charms:

And then Allie threw in a few more charms for good measure. A few dozen.

Now I have plenty of fairy tale charms, and also craft & chore ones...

Yup, Allies package was the bomb! Some of those charms are going on my me-bracelet, and I might make another craft bracelet to give away. And will probably add some beads to the crafty one she made for me, because I have some left over from the last two I made.

In other news, I was at the post office today to mail out my cards, and now they are back home. I had forgotten the priority stickers (no problem, the nice post man stuck them on), but also my address, and I needed to put more postage on them as well. As I hadn't any money on me (I was just on my way to pick up the kids) now the cards are back home with me, waiting for hubby to come home... it's one of those days. Good thing I checked instead of just putting them in the mailbox...

finally checking in here in the gallery again! It's been insane around my place. I'm switching jobs in January plus holiday craziness means I've been out of craftster for a little over a week! But looks like everyone received their packages from me so I can rest easy now and prepare for the holidays!

I wanted to claim again in this round but I have so much to do... maybe I'll get one in after christmas right before the end! :)

This is such a fun swap and I love seeing what everyone has made! I myself have received a wonderful assortment of goodies, including lovely soaps from kittykill, bootcuffs from spikefan and  clay supplies plus sweet crocheted bookmarks from lydiaharper! Eventually I will post pictures but please know all was so appreciated and brightened my day!  :D

Hi! I am so glad that the scarf arrived. I should have noted on there that it is not machine wash/dry. wool/silk/tinsel so handwash, lay flat to dry. I was gifted with the yarn last year and when you said denim colors I got all excited about turning it into a scarf for you :D Thanks for being patient. I picked up knitting last year and it takes me a bit to get a pattern down pat.

I received the most amazing collection of scarves and vintage hankies from KittyKill. OMG! Thank you so much!!!

Its been a crazy holiday season. The little one just got back to school from an ear infection and now the big one is home with a sinus infection. My only goal today is to get my Christmas cards out. *fingers crossed*

Not immediately swap-related, but I finally made something with my first sewing machine! It's not very good so I didn't want to post it in one of the categories, but I'm proud of it all the same so I thought to show it here. I present you: an onigiri (japanese riceball) plushie!

The rice is some kind of white poplin I had lying around, the seaweed is black velvet, the face was drawn on with black marker, and the blush was done with two pink buttons. It's stuffed with filler wool. I hesitated and almost filled it with actual rice to serve as a heating pad, but I wasn't sure if the buttons were microwavable, and like this it makes for a good pincushion.

Here is what whitterp sent to me!

I asked for any home decor for the holidays, so she picked one of my favorites: Halloween!

I love this little bunting, so it will probably stay up all year!

The eye is my favorite, so since this is in my foyer, it feels like it is watching out for all of us! ;D

She also sent a lovely piece of art for my craftster art wall and a little felt heart for my collection.  Thank you so much for picking me!

Just got this message from my Tall, Dark and Bearded and I have to share.

"Some days I'm jealous of you and your swapping. You've got a parcel and two letters and I'm just a chump with a bill."

I can just imagine you sitting on the couch with a swap package on your lap all filled with crafty awesomeness.  A big grin on your face.........Then beside you sits your hubby with a sad puppy dog look on his face as he stares at you with a bunch of bills in his hand.

This knit cactus is TOO cute.  And when I went looking for the orphan quilt squares, I found some cut squares waiting to be turned into blocks.  You might just have an entire wall hanging size quilt rscowotwn.  LOL  I am just glad they are going to a home where they will be used.  Some of them I think are from a quilt block swap here a long time ago.

Hubby's dad died today just after noon. he had a bad stroke about 3 months ago. We just got home from being with his mom and most of his brother/sisters n family. Funeral most likely will be on Tuesday. there's already been some family drama and im praying it does not get worse, but kind of bracing for it just in case. His parents have been together 67 years. His mom is deathly afraid of cats and naturally one is the pet at the nursing care center. Some of us spent time strategically blocking mom's view of it in the hallway and when we left i walked her out and naturally it was stalking us next to me but thankfully she did not notice it. I have seen her run faster than an olympian when a cat entered a room years ago and with her bad back, oxygen tank and the stress of her husband just passing hours before, I figured I would gladly sacrifice myself and tackle the cat if needed, while im highly allergic to them, just to get her to safety. Thankfully no tackling needed and most of the clan was able to enjoy a meal together and share memories and pix of our kids and grands who were not there tonight. I feel truly blessed to have called Gene "dad" for the past 30 years.

Oh how sad.  I will be sending some prayers your way.  Years ago, my Grandma died in December...so the holidays...are sad time for me.  But with family that love me, it helps.  Time doesn't heal, but it does help.

May I ask though, do you know why his mom is so afraid of cats?  I wonder if she met the cat and seen how gentle a cat can be....Well, perhaps because of her fear being present all these years shes not wanting to confront that fear now.  But, it is a shame, as animals can be so lovable.  The story of her running like that though, makes me think of this one kid I met years ago.  For the life of me I can not remember where I was.  It had to of been a family gathering because i never know half of the people at them.  LOL.  Anyways, I was inside petting someones dog that was there.  This little kid walked in the room and seen me petting the dog.  The kid froze in his tracks and stared at the dog, the dog got up to go walk to the kid.  Well, the kid FLIPS OUT!  Like starts screaming like a mad man, and runs out the room screaming and hollering at the top of his lungs.  I was in shock, the dog was in shock and the dog cam running back to me.  LOL.  I still have no clue why the kid flipped out.  He looked about 10 yrs old.  So...I don't know what his deal was.  I know some people who have been attacked by dogs, I can see them being scared of a dog.  But this kid....it was so crazy I just sat there stunned and shocked.  From the sound of his screams and such, you would of thought he seen a grizzly bear eating a small child and ran in fear of the same fate.  LOL.

thank you all for your prayers, thoughts, posts. Not sure if mom had an incident with a cat when she was younger or not, hubby is not sure either. ive had a wicked headache from crying. im looking forward to the week after Christmas, when im done with this next 6 day stretch at work.

Did receive 2 cards, one from Ann.wahnsinn in Germany and one from canada for our card swap in the group. Haven't opened them yet, they are here somewhere, will find and open and post pix later. we as a family have received only a half dozen cards this year it seems as if other folks have cut back or down. I am looking forward to making mine for the card swap, have some neat ideas for them :)

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Holiday!

Random thought on a Christmas Eve morning - maybe we should make a new policy for December? Starting December 1st make the crafting period 3 weeks instead of 2?

I think that since this is a swap, if we don't change the time period and people do not meet the deadlines, then it needs to be reflected in the feedback.  I have noticed that there have been a lot of late send outs and missed deadlines that go against the swap rules.  This swap has to follow the same rules as other swaps.

The feedback system was set up for everyone's protection and includes not only swappers but also organizers.

Very true AIMR, we should not be lax about deadlines  :-[ I was guilty of sending a couple days late this week myself which can be blamed on nothing but poor time management with holiday activities.

Then again, I hate seeing the thread stalled and I am fighting the urge to claim Anna. With all the family stuff and all the Holiday doings, I don't dare claim right now or I know I will be setting myself up for failure when it comes to sending on time. I think more than one claim open over Christmas is probably too much for me.

I too have sent late in the past.  And, sometimes my claimers have sent late too.  Honestly though, as long as there is good communication and the package isn't super late, it doesn't matter to me.  I know you sent to me late.  But, from your feedback I wasn't worried about you being late.  And we have swapped before.  So.....I can understand a little late sending.  It happens to us all.  I think the 2wks crafting period is good, and then if a person takes a little longer, no worries.  Now, if its like 2 weeks late & no communication, ect ect.  Then I think the organizer should put that in the feedback.  But a little late...no worries...no worries at all in my honest opinion.

And with that being said, I wont be able to make anymore claims this month.  Our dryer broke last night...so money shall be saved for that.  And now its time start some craft projects that my family requested.  A blanket for hubby, a minion for the kiddo, a pair of socks I want to make for myself and my sister wants a knit hat.  So....for that reason I shall be taking an ows break.

Just popping in quickly to post the bracelet I made for spikefan (or rather her mom). It arrived just in time and is already with its intended owner, so I'll post the pictures I've taken before sending:

(Good thing I hit preview first, I had the kids on a slide in the dark at first, and then the shipping receipt... I must have been a bit distracted while sorting those pictures the other day.)

Gute Besserung spikefan, get well soon!

love that bracelet!

We allow for a package to be a week late in sending before having to give negative feedback, with or without communication...I think we all have been a bit late, I know I have!

I think December is a very busy month so this thread does get stalled...I think when it gets less busy, more people will join and it will move faster!  I hope to join again in January!  I am working on a better list...more generic.  I have a hard time claiming when people are too specific because I can't make anything for them...when someone posts that I can claim, they get snatched up quickly! ;D

I just love what people are getting...such lovely fabrics, supplies, yarn goodies, jewelry, art...this is a really good group of craftsters!

Love the beaded bracelet!  I might need to add that to my wishlist!

So, I was waiting to finish all my Christmas crafts to sneak in a last minute claim, and then...I had a little mishap on Christmas day, and now I have six stitches running across the large knuckle on my thumb.  It's on my right hand, and yes, I'm right-handed.  I won't be able to crochet for at least a few more days, and driving can be difficult. Especially since I have to take my 4-yr-old with me anywhere I go.  Anyway, long story short, I don't think I will be making any claims before the end of the month.  As soon as I am able to use my hand I will rejoin this swap for sure!  So sorry folks!  I'm so disappointed!  :(

This is one kind of cactus that might survive in my house... anyway, I know what I'll be doing tonight: Cutting out panels for another bag because I changed my mind on fabrics. Oh and did you know, my favourite fabric section carries pink hologram-dotted chiffon all year round? I didn't, either. No fear, Ave, one doesn't have anything to do with the other!

Hey swappers....according to the guidelines of the OWS...

You need to be sending me a PM when you send your package to the person you claim along with the delivery conf # (or whatever tracking/customs number from your country)

AND

Sending me a PM when you receive a package from the person who claimed you.

I sending out pm's asking "did you send" or "did you receive" and all you need to do is drop me a couple of PM's PLEASE :) (I like getting mail :)

ooh, let me borrow that soap box...

you know, I used to think it a bit odd way back when, when Monica would ask people to be sure to include the round number. I mean in my head as a swapper there isn't much overlap between one round and the next. You finish your packages for one and then you start on packages for the next. But trust me, as the organizer, you usually have 3 rounds open at once and so many packages that take a long time in transit or are a bit late that it is really helpful to have as much information as possible... like due dates. Due dates are very helpful. I like rscowtown adding in a number too.

Considering the amount of work she is putting in to organizing, I think the least we can do is go to the first page of the claims thread and cut and paste the information for the claim you are sending or receiving (tho if the person who sends does it, the person who receives can simply reply to all on the sent message and it will be quoted)

okay, I will get down now. Thank you rscowtown!

When its in edit mode with all the html, which I totally don't mind and dig using, it looks like a real hodgepodge of characters, and you know sometimes da computer isn't too cooperative or our service here burps or one of the doxies jumps in my lap as im typing in bed at 2 am, AND i am blonde under this grey, so every wee scosh bit helps :)

I believe I have given feedback to everyone except those who are among the last 6 claims that will finish that round.

Please check yer feedback and make sure I didn't leave it as "in progress" like I did for someone; sometimes I forget to click stuff. Thanks!

I love that doggerole carrier!

One less to be sent by the way, I mailed out the purse to Averia today (and, of course, sent a message to our hostess and my recipient!). One of those last minute dashes, the receipt states 4 minutes before closing time...

Perception is a weird thing, this bag grew smaller and smaller while at the same time heavier and heavier while I was working on it (okay, so it shrank)(and that may have something to do with the additional pockets, and my way of cutting fabric), but then the whole package was only 290g including stamps and labels. So, not too heavy at all. Maybe just for its size... ;)

What a practical idea...a casserole carrier!

And that pincushion is simply beautiful!

eek, I am cringing as I see that adorable Ruby in the casserole carrier. :D That thing was a pet hair magnet - I washed it right before sending, carried it to the table to package it, and somehow it managed to attract pet hair on my kitchen table. It's weird how some fabrics, especially ones that show cat hair the most, attract it so much more than other fabrics.

I didn't properly send a message to rscowtown when I mailed her the package… Sorry about that. :( I did make note of it here in the thread, but I'll make sure not to forget to send a message too next time. (I'm not signing up for the January swap because I currently have university exams, but I'll sure be back for February!)

Ya everything in my house is covered in white hair.  I was not impressed when she jumped on it when I was about to take a picture. But then I realized it was game over so I rolled with it. She is lucky she is so darn cute.

QP's package was very uplifting to receive in whats been such a difficult 3 weeks. Hubbys dad passed 23 days ago, funeral was Dec. 23. His mom just passed last night, that funeral is this friday. We were able to go see her saturday to spend time and say our goodbyes. she was not awake or alert, but I was honored to hold her hand for about 3 hours, and she had a good grip. Its mixed emotions all around here, we are so thankful that she (and dad) are no longer in pain or unable to breathe or know who the family is, and that they are once again together. Mom told hubbys sister on Friday, the day she went into the hospice facility, "Dad and i have a date at 9 pm. he told me not to wear tennies, and that I better have my butt ready!" that last part was something dad would say for sure! Karen (hubbys sister) painted mom's nails red and they looked lovely. His mom was a nurse for 50 years and I was blessed to be her daughter in law for over 30 years. Ive been a nurse in nursing homes as long as I've know his mom, and altho ive seen this happen many times, and knew what to expect, i am leaning strongly on my faith that his parents had a wonderful reunion in heaven and some day we will see them there too. If you can say a prayer or send love or light or your thoughts to our family, we would all so greatly appreciate it. Hubby has one brother and 4 sisters.

My thanks and hugs!

sorry for your losses...I will keep you and your family in my thoughts as you go through this difficult time.

How uplifting to get such beautiful, nature-inspired jewelry!  There is always a light to go with the dark.

I'm sorry for your family's loss rscowtown. It is sweet to know that she was thinking of her husband and obviously still very much in love with him. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers :)

I think (which I know can be dangerous) that I fixed all the feedback from in progress to positive on those who have completed round 109. Do check your feedback and lemme know if I missed you and my apologies if I did. I'll try to blame it on my hair color, but these days the blonde is not the most prevalent color anymore, its grey. Time for another dye job!

I received two packages!

First up, Anna.wahnsinn claimed me for a bag in my favorite style - the cross body hipster. It is amazingly well done - check out the zippers, of which their are 3! I love the fabrics both inside and the corduroy outside.

Second was a supply package from Sylvan. She gave me a couple large pieces of fabric - clearly taking note of my preferences in colors :)

She also sent some adorable and well made note cards

And something I always need that are very cute - embroidery floss bobbins

Thank you Anna.wahnsinn and Sylvan!

I still need to make my Christmas/winter cards for the other 6 in that exchange, just got an embossing folder I wanted to make them with so soooooon!

Anna--I love that bag!  Do I recognize that interior fabric? ;D  It is one of my favorites since it works so well with so many styles...I think it is perfect for Averia!

I also love those bobbin things!  So cute! Nice notecards, too!

Yup, lining fabric and thread! I've been saving that specifically for a project for Ave. I thought it was too small for a while there. But I guess that's because I interpreted "hipster crossbody bag" as a bag for a hipster person, to be worn across his or her body, kind of a smaller messenger bag without the flap.  Not a little bag worn on the hip. ;)

You did a beautiful job...the zippers look perfect!

lol each time I buy anything blue and white, I think of Ave! So many fabric choices in that color...so now Ave has sort of something from me as well, right?  Passing it on is the best...we all work together well!

I received lots of wonderful goodies from Averia yesterday, and here are the pictures to prove it! She had claimed me for a little purse for my little Lea, so I could get mine back...

I think the new one turned out even cuter than the original one, but alas! it is kiddie sized, the strap is much too short for me:

and inside:

Thank you Ave, you made a great little purse for a great little girl!

And then there was also an extra, but I'm going to put that in the 110 post, just so you know. So please follow me there! https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=437440.msg5282254#msg5282254 (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=437440.msg5282254#msg5282254)

Gah! I have been sucky about posting pictures. Here is what MommyTheMaid did for me.

She made me beaded spiders and sent some great vintage Halloween napkins.

I had the spiders on my Pinterest. Thank you so much for picking me and making me cute little spiders!

I really like the one with the rainbow bead legs.

Cute napkins, too...Halloween goodies are always good to get.
