Title: Pinterest Pin Zippered Pouch
Post by: queenofdiy on April 12, 2014 05:49:37 AM
So, I haven't been on Craftster since.....forever!!!  I have suddenly found myself with lots of time on my hands.  You see, I'm an Aussie who has just moved to the US (Philadelphia, PA area) with my husband and two boys (12 and 15).  My visa conditions don't allow me to work here, so I'm suddenly a stay at home Mum, which is foreign to me as I've always worked.  Anyway, I have spent lots of time on Pinterest and one pin in particular has haunted me.  It is a beautiful zippered pouch with no pattern.  I had to dig around the internet to find the actual source of the post and found it here:

http://blog.naver.com/PostThumbnailView.nhn?blogId=weebeehouse&logNo=150118184247&categoryNo=2&parentCategoryNo=0 (http://blog.naver.com/PostThumbnailView.nhn?blogId=weebeehouse&logNo=150118184247&categoryNo=2&parentCategoryNo=0)

I really, really, really wanted to try this and I searched high and low on the internet for a pattern, but I couldn't find one the same.  So, I drafted a pattern, made it, modified the pattern, made another, modified the pattern and third time lucky, I cracked it.  The result is pictured below.  I took pictures along the way and also made a digital PDF pattern.  If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to write up a tutorial.  I did consider selling the pattern, but decided not to, opting to share instead - 'cause that's what my Mum taught me.  ;D

If you want any more info, ask away!!

Beautiful zippered pouch! It's great that you took the time to make up the pattern.

Too bad you can't work now, but good for us that you aren't working ;)
Enjoy crafting and spending time at home with your husband and kids!  :D

That pouch looks like it'd be the perfect size for so many different things! Did it take much fabric? I'd like to try making one if you do a tutorial  :)

Did it take much fabric? I'd like to try making one if you do a tutorial  :)

The first one I made only took two fat quarters (one FQ for both outer and lining and one FQ for the binding).
The others took 3 FQs - one FQ for outer, one FQ for lining and one FQ for binding.

The reason the first one only took 2 is because I was able to use the selvedge.   There's a fair bit of hand stitching involved, but not totally necessary.

I had been away forever, too. :) Welcome to the US. I LOVE your little bag -- great job drafting & constructing it!
