I'll be working on my questionnaire later today.
 8)

I have a superquick question...

On international shipping.
If we're sending 2 different kinds of tea samplings, are any country's customs banning organic/ingestible material?

I just don't want to make awesome stuff for my partner only to have it held up in customs forever.  ;)

And now I've just sent in my questionnaire. YAY!

Actually, it's usually safer to send commercially packaged stuff. A sealed box of tea bags or commercially packed tea is more likely to get through than loose leafs in a plastic baggie... I'm not sure if it would be ok to send packaged tea bags removed from the original package, but I guess that depends on the place you send to.

Here is a good question...how did you get into drinking tea? I like to hear your story.

For me it was my dad, he was and still a tea drinker. i just picked up on it. My mom loves her coffee and dad is tea. I have since expanded into loving more tea than the straight plain Lipton. I love the loose tea especially the ones at Teavana and Celestial Seasonings. I even toured the facilites. That was so cool!

Also, if you discover that you want  to be partnered up with someone, please ask. I will be more than happy to partner you up.

I've always loved tea but exploring more and more as i've grown older, i've discovered that loose leaf tea  is my weakness and living with a man who loves tea as much as i do makes it both easy and hard, as i dont have to justify the money i spend on tea but then i have to share  ;) ;D

I'm Chinese - there is and was ALWAYS a pot of strong black tea at all times for everyone.  As a young child, mine was very milky, but it is what everyone drank day and night, other than my grandfather who was also a coffee fiend (and I have memories of my sneaking out of bed in the early morning while he was getting ready to go to the farmer's market, and he would make me a bottle that was milky coffee... because I wanted to be like him).

I love tea and coffee (without milk now) - my work day just does not go right without starting it with a jumbo cup of green tea, and often I walk the dogs with a large cup of java in my hand.  Hot, cold, it doesn't matter, so long as it is strong, and flavourful, and not bitter.

My family is very much the same way. Dad is a HUGE tea drinker (Barry's Irish Breakfast especially) so we always had it around. I was never a big breakfast eater so in grade school toast and tea passed the "most have something in the morning" rule. It wasn't until recently though that I discovered the joys of loose leaf and have become obsessed myself (thank you very much Adagio Teas! xD).

Random fun fact: My great grandmother, Irish, used to read tea leaves. She passed a few months before I was born but my grandmother and aunt, as well as my parents have said I'm very much like her in many aspects (I also carry her name as my middle one) so I'd love to learn about this art when I have the time. :)

I discovered the wonders of tea in high school after experimenting with new things to drink, when soda was all the rage. I loved chai so much I scared my dad by drinking like 6 cups a day, and to this day I drink around 4 cups of various kinds of tea daily. I never have an empty tea kettle on the stove. :D

I live in the south and iced tea is just a part of life here.  If we go out to eat, that's what everyone gets.  Growing up my faimly would make sun tea and mom always had tea to drink and it was just a part of me too.  I found how much I like hot tea when I started swapping (on another site).  I drink drink quite a few glasses of iced tea a day as we always have two pitchers made in my house (since I have to share)!

(I'm really tired right now and I hope all that made sense.)

I have my late grandmother to thank for my first introduction to tea - when I was little it was milky and sweet. Then someone I knew at university introduced me to loose leaf flavoured teas and there was no turning back. We have a great tea company called the Red Sparrow Tea Company locally and when I visit my parents I get to go to the Tea House - I love looking at their massive wall of tins of different teas. I have about 5 opened packets as we speak (Ginger Bread, 1001 Nights, Black Gloog, Arctic Fire and Lemon Myrtle - yum - now I feel like some tea  ;D I also love high tea - very refined  :o

Darn, do I still have time for this one??? Yup. Count me in, I will be jumping! I make the cutest little tea dollies. A thing for your purse. With a cute created face in clay. {Give me the full list, hosty mod...and I will make sure everyone gets one!} Or just give me the count, and I can send them on to you? I don't think you are planning send outs...so just a rough number...and I will ship for your send out, from my edge of the coin...if you can allow that. It will be on my time, and my dime.

Whups...I knew we had a bit of a snag here.
I agree that addresses need to be private.
But nobody shared anything extra with me, so far.
We need a tea wallet site, so guests can see what can be made?
And jump in for Johnny Jummblies!
Mine are tea dollies. Not the full wallet pouch. But, very cute.

My parents generally had a cup of tea after dinner and iced tea was around in the summer.  As a teen prone to overweight, I discovered I tea as a zero calorie beverage.  I shifted to coffee in college, but never really left tea behind.  I only drink coffee occaisionally now, and admit to being a tea snob.  I love gunpowder green tea in the morning and a hearty black tea in the afternoon.  After dinner, I like licorice tea -- sweet without calories!

I really didn't get into tea until this past year.
I was a coffee fiend through and through, then my doctor suggested some decaf herbal tea might help with pesky high cholesterol/triglycerides.

I made the switch and am loving it.
(I still have some coffee for smelling nostalgia in a certain tin by the kitchen sink.)
My immediate family was more ice tea and coffee than anything of the bagged variety.
My in-laws have taught me the comfort and the utility of a strong cuppa tea.

But...
My paternal grandmother was born in Wales.
(She was an army nurse and met my Yankee Grandfather and fell in love)
She made a brew seem like a work of art; I'd watch milk swirl with her expert spoon.
Oh, and the china she'd use to make the most normal time of the day seem like an event!

Ooh, thrilling. I'm so in, but with unreliable Internet at the moment, I'm working at getting my questionnaire sent ... bah. (I'm currently volunteering in rural Ghana, but will be back before sendouts!).

My tea story. Hm. It always was, I suppose? My mom (of Irish descent) drinks probably 7 cups a day, and her whole family drinks it heavily too. And so I just always just did. But that was mostly Tetley, and my sister and I in particular have gone beyond. We're always visiting tea rooms and gifting each other the newest and most exciting looseleaf flavours. And then I also do home parties selling tea (this is me: www.mysteepedtea.com/jessicapeter (http://www.mysteepedtea.com/jessicapeter)), and she's creating a whole local tea-lifestyle business which will soon enough culminate in her vintage trailer being turned into a tea-themed food truck. Or food trailer, I suppose. (this is she: www.teaamo.org (http://www.teaamo.org)). So yep! Family history for sure. ;)

My Tea story:  I wasn't born in the South, I was transplanted to Florida when I was four so I guess I'm a Cracker at heart.  Sweet tea was a staple growing up.  My mom usually had two or three jars of sun tea on the back patio through out the week.  Her motto was "the sweeter the better"... I unfortunately like a little more tea than sugar. :)  My Aunt Yo introduced me to all the other varieties of tea like oolong, white, green and Darjeeling and other herbals.   I like honey in my tea instead of sugar and most of the time, since I live in Florida, I like to chill a gallon at a time.  It irks my hubby because he sometimes slips and drinks my tea instead of his.  (DH is a simple iced tea drinker, no thrills) I'm happy that our little one like to taste my tea before her daddy's.  ;D

I'm a northerner - for me, tea is a hot beverage.

My hubby likes his with more milk and sugar than tea but I don't add anything. I start the morning with a mug of Oolong and keep adding hot water all day long whenever it gets empty or too cold. One lovely thing about Oolong is you can't steep it too long. It never gets bitter even when you leave the leaves in it all day. This works well for me since I am the world's most forgetful person.

Sometimes I bring a hot cup on my short walk to work, but I mostly like to have it right around bed time. I've also recently started brewing fruit teas for Iced tea. My boyfriend and I have been trying to cut out crap and it's so much better than having soda in the house. I also like the idea of just making more when I run out.  =0)

I don't usually "dress" my hot tea. I will use milk and sugar on occasion, if it's spiced.
Iced gets light sugar, if any.

I am in texas too and my love of tea definitely originated with summer sun tea (which i still make every summer) and general iced tea. Also, my mom always make me hot tea whenever I felt sick. I have uber sinus issues so it was a lot. I began to branch out on my own a little in high school and a lot in college. With a majorly stressful job (head JH orchestra director) tea and coffee are my vices. Coffee or english/irish breakfast tea for the kick of caffiene. Lady grey with honey and lemon when I am sick or worn down at work, and sleepytime to destress and help me sleep. I like loose leaf tea but they are usually to expensive; I really like to go to tevana and taste their teas. I have a hot water maker in my office that I use almost exclusively for tea. I have a sensitive stomach and so despite my love for coffee i can't always have as much as i want, but I am able to have lots of tea! I am really excited for this swap and i hope i get some new tea to try! :)

I have two spots left unless someone wants to co-organize with me. It is an easy job. Just keeping track of a group crafters of when they send and receive. Otherwise, once I get two more crafters, I will have to close signups early!

I've got another tea question for folks - hope this is allowed - since I'm getting really curious based on people's tea stories. So: how do you take your tea - and where are you from?

I'm from Ontario, Canada. (I'm also half Irish, which may mean something to my tea habits - my German half not so much). My usual is hot black  or otherwise rich teas with milk and sugar/sweetener. I'm pretty sure most Americans don't usually use milk? You never really see black tea without it in my area. My green, white, herbal, and fruit teas I drink plain though. And I DO now drink iced teas, but that's not particularly common at home. At least not "real" iced tea. . .

Oh, and Canadians, in my area at least, would say either "tea" or "iced tea". Because tea is assumed to be hot, unless it's specifically stated otherwise (I've figured out when travelling down to Florida that I generally need to order by saying "hot tea").

Excellent Question!  I love black tea. I always put a little milk in my tea. My dad always did it also. My surname is English so maybe it is in the family history?  Funny you should ask that. My dad came from a large family. His mom and them always drank tea as kids. When they grew up, everyone else switched to tea except my dad. Dad is where my tea drinking came from. There is just something about tea I love. Also, it makes me feel dad is with me whenever I have a cup. I sometimes drink white teas but it seems I always go back to black tea. My current favorite is Celestial Seasonings Nutcracker Sweet. It is really good. Only need a little milk. it is sweet  enough with the vanilla in it.

I like my hot tea without milk these days. The exception is that I will sometimes add it with Chai, but instead of milk, I use vanilla almond milk.

I grew up on very sweet iced tea that my mom always made in Florida. I started drinking hot tea probably when I got into college, but I was still mostly drinking coffee. While I was in graduate school, I joined the "Gator Tea Society" - at the club meetings, they just served different hot teas from various regions. At that point I started drinking hot tea quite regularly. I keep a small press for using my loose leaf tea at work :)

Ooo, I can't wait for partners! I really like chai too, actually... I somehow always forget about it! I think part of that is I just got into tea recently (mmm, loose leaf is so delicious! I never knew!) and "chai" was always the stuff you got at the store in the "Oregon Chai" concentrate. Not the same thing at all (although also delicious!).

I sort of have a tea board (http://www.pinterest.com/alchamy513/mad-hatter-tea-party/) but its more of an all things tea and wedding (which is going to be a tea party, yay!)

I haven't swapped in a year since work got so busy, but ohhh this I could just not resist!! A smaller swap...and TEA? Sold.

I'll have to start re-arranging my pinterest so the tea-related items that find themselves on every board are in one place XD

As for my relationship with tea, tea has always been in my life but not always as a pronounced hobby. I come from a family where tea is made twice a day every day (well, it was, until my parents started eating healthier hahaha; now it's only once a day). You ring in the morning with chai, end every social gathering with tea, and of course carve in 4pm tea time. I don't remember exactly when I started branching out to more types of tea, but now whether's its a homey chai, or an exotic oolong, I love it all!

I'm so pumped, just reading this thread made me fix up a cup :) And I especially love reading what everyone else is drinking; makes me want to try so many new teas! It's like a tea twitter feed...

So on that note... peach mango white with honey :)

My favorite "fancy" tea drink from my favorite local haunt, The Coffee Hag, is the London Fog!

Earl Grey with steamed milk and a splash of vanilla syrup.
YUM!

When I feel a little festive, I'll get the Peppermint Fog.
(substitute the Earl with Peppermint tea...not the syrup. that was one drink that had to be remade and we all had a really good laugh about it. a little Pep. goes a LONG way in syrup form!)

I like chai flavours but not chai tea - not a fan of milky tea.  I like lattes occasionally and one of my coffee shops came up with tea latte drink once, and I thought I would give it a try (usually everything I have, coffee or tea, is black, and sugarless - purely naked, other than the occasional lemon), since I did start having a latte every few weeks a few years ago.  It was a tea latte sweetened with honey and I literally tried the first sip and spit it out.  I am sure there are those who would like it, but I couldn't even bring myself to swallow it.  But it just proved to me that I hate milky teas.

But, I do love tea ice creams or desserts - like green tea ice cream.  I probably would love a chai tea inspired ice cream too - the flavours would work for it - or it would make a great creme brulee!

Oh yes, and I loathe bubble tea.

On the upside, the same coffee company comes out with a holiday blend flavoured tea (and coffee for that matter) that is lovely - hints of citrus and berry blended with black tea.  Hope to see it again this year!

Yes, it's a tea based beverage -- sweet and milky and contains large tapioca pearls.  I thought it was interesting, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.  :D

I have been having fun reading through all our tea topics.  I just made some Oolong.  It is my new favorite.  I have found that I can't work on my Pinterest tea board or read this thread without a cuppa!  Lol!

I have always liked tea.  I switch on and off between coffee, decaf coffee (always with cream, sugar, and chocolate if possible haha!) and tea for my morning drink.  I don't like a ton of caffeine.  I love herbal teas and medicinal teas and tinctures.  I love floral like rose and lavender.  I do like the chai spices of tea also.  I am really looking forward to this swap!  It has been fun already- I have been working on pinning a lot of tea related items to the board I created for this swap, and it has been enjoyable and inspiring!  Yay partners!

And Harney & Sons has 20% off your entire purchase with when you use the code TEADAY13.  You can also get a free pumpkin spice tin (20 sachets) "with every purchase."  And I just saw that my favorite tea comes in decaf so I'll be right on that...

I was thinking back about what got me into to drinking tea when I was a kid and remembered it was those little ceramic figurines that came in boxes of Red Rose tea! http://www.redrosetea.com/figurines.aspx
I used to collect them, I think they are probably still in a box somewhere in my parents house. Does anyone remember those?

I had a whole bunch of those at one point, but they have had a less than genteel existence, so many are less than pristine!  But I loved finding that little treasure in the box of tea.  We usually had Chinese brands of tea, but I loved lemon tea growing up and my grandparents bought Red Rose to make the lemon tea with.

Oh yes, and one tea memory just came to mind.  We were at my grandparents one summer, and I was maybe 4 or 5 years old.  My brother was maybe 10, and we were left alone in the farmhouse to play for awhile one morning.  I was playing with my baby doll, and usually my brother wants nothing to do with playing with me or my dolls, but that day he decided it would be fun to feed the dolly with me.  He took some used tea bags, tore them open and we took turns feeding the shredded tea leaves to my dolly.... In my grandmother's living room... with the light beige carpet.... and light fabric chairs....

She was less than impressed... but the good thing is that she knew exactly who to blame ;)

I can't wait to get back home and really start planning crafts! But to add to the seasonal tea-related deals (at least for US residents): did anyone else notice that World Market is giving away Downton Abby teacups tomorrow for Black Friday? They have a good selection of tea, too, so I might be picking up some samples while I'm there ;D

Hope everyone's having a good holiday weekend!
I didn't do any Black Friday shopping, but had a doc appt and needed to go to the Target Pharmacy yesterday.
Who's the idiot going to the Target for the Pharmacy on the Black Friday?
Yep, me.

On a positive note, the pharmacist checked out my other random items too so I didn't have to wait in the atrocious line!
YAY!

Crafty news:
I've decided on 2 projects so far. One is definitely going to work out. The other...I've never worked this pattern before so we'll see the finished product first, then decide.

I spent Thanksgiving at my Mom's house in CT. Got back to Philly in time for work yesterday (retail) and after work went to see SLAYER. I needed it. People working retail on Black Friday deserve to go to a place afterwards where they can scream all night and not disturb anyone  :D

Currently working on a Christmas gift for one of my brothers, but I am shopping and brainstorming tea paraphernalia.

Hope everyone is recuperating from Black Friday!! I didn't end up getting too much while out shopping, my favorite way to shop the sales is definitely online since the deals usually start thanksgiving morning for the same items. If I have a chance earlier that week I try on the items in-store and then order online, no line, no crowd, no stress! :)

Just a quick question, this swap is not showing up on my profile, is there some way I can fix this?

I'd PM the organizer.

I hit up Joann's today and what a mess!  I also got myself an early Christmas present (not from Joann's) - a new serger!

LOL - I made DH go with me to Michaels so we can both use the 50% coupons - I made him get me a texturing hammer with interchangeable heads, and I got a large jar of gesso.

I am wondering if I should go seasonal - both the Tea Emporium, and David's have some nice seasonal teas around Christmas.  Maybe I should wander down to Tealish too.

I spend every Monday night at a professional wrestling school. My boyfriend helps to teach while I sit in the corner and craft. I could stay home, but if I did, I'd get trapped in the internet and fall asleep and get nothing accomplished. I got a good percentile of a piece completed, and I have work off tomorrow to continue. Oh, and good thing I also brought my tablet tonight because I got to order some teas before Cyber Monday ended =0)

Hopefully within the next few weeks, our friend is going to take us exploring around Philadelphia (Yes, we've lived here for years, but we never really venture outside of our bubble). I'm hoping to find some more things then  :)

Loving everyone's tea related stories and updates  :D The most wonderful tea shop has just opened up in a mall near my work. She has taste testings all the time - yum. I let her know I would be in next payday to make some purchases!! Now I just need to choose between the myriad of options. Also settling on a _____ for _____. Just not quite happy with the ones  have found so far  :P

Make sure you see Olde City. I'm one of those people who go every year or so because, well, it's in our backyard and shouldn't be just a school trip sort of deal. We have lots of great museums and Wednesday nights are Pay What You Want after 5pm (tomorrow they are having an Ugly Sweater Party). There is a great yarn shop near Rittenhouse Square and there is a tea shop called Steap right near there as well.

Also! I don't know how many USA people have seen this cool little website but you plug in your zip and it shows you all the tea rooms nearby.

In other news, tonight is the last night for the 25% off of Harney and Sons tea (plus free shipping) for "Cyber Monday", so I got my husband something as a Christmas gift as well as a few other things for myself and WiDS ;)

Holy cow - that's fast!

I was out finishing most of my Christmas shopping today, and popped by one of my fav tea shops.  <hanging head in shame>... I went overboard... they made suggestions outside of my list, and the moment I sniffed the canisters, I caved.  Broke down like a house of cards.  I may as well have just thrown my credit card at them and myself at the wall of tea canisters.

Right now I am enjoying a cup of one of my new purchases (don't worry, I kept the stash I bought for my partner aside).

I just finished up with a big Christmas swap with my local craft group. I worked a little more on something yesterday afternoon, but I was pretty exhausted after crafting a storm all weekend trying to get my stuff done and help someone else with her stuff.

I'm really happy with what I am working on, but I might have to make some minor adjustments to account for some possible variation of certain things.... I also need to get some supplies to better my stash because I noticed some lack of color in something I need. I'll be ordering that tonight.

I also picked something else up over the weekend to think about. I'm not sure if it is the right kind of thingamabob. ;)

Happy to report that one of my crafts (the one with a technique I've never used before) was completed tonight during some marathon crafting! Still some projects to go but all the materials are gathered. I just need time and energy to complete them along with all the other Christmas stuff I am working on.

Aw shucks, you're the coolest!
Aaand...if you're crafting what I think you're crafting it's gonna blow my mind!

One project started.  Was going to start number two as well, but the materials I have are a bit old and brittle, so I need to get some new pieces of ________ next week after work.  Also found some ___________ in my stash that will work for a small as well.  So.... have the tea, and have started!

Well I'm about done with one partner's project & I'm hoping to finish that off this weekend.  Then I'll move on to my other partner's project...and depending on how that goes, I might stick a couple tiny extras in their packages.

And the tea shopping is done.   ;D  For them and me lol.

I have mid shifts all week at work and I've been trying to get ready for the Christmas party at the bar we regular. tonight I made at least 7 jars of stuffed hot cherry peppers and I still have to make reeses pretzel bark and finish my costume by Saturday. (Yes, I wear costumes for Christmas  :) )

As far as the swap, I'm waiting for more tea...and waiting for the payday after Christmas to wrap things up  (no pun, I think)

Checking in again. No recent progress, but I got some new materials in that I have been waiting to use on one thing. :)

For the next item, I finally decided between two items. Since I'm sending to Australia, I decided not to send anything breakable, just to be safe, which eliminated one option. :(

I might borrow some tools of my mom's while I'm in Florida, and I expect to get a lot done on our 12-hour drive down this weekend :)

Checking in too - I picked up some supplies yesterday after my night shift.  I am off now, thanks to some strategic planning, until just before new years.  I have some Christmas goodies to make, but am making progress too on this.  I am almost finished - like 99%, one craft.  I have what I need to make craft 2, and a couple of other things, so will start that today.  I have to run down and wrap a few presents before DH comes home though, so off to do that....

But if it means anything... I am enjoying a nice big cup of tea.  One of the same flavours that I bought for TrickyMcVomit for that matter... and it is yummy... warming... soothing... and smells soooooooooooooo goooooooooooood....

<evil grin>

I had a craft fail occur a few times today.  Attempt number 3 looks OK, and  attempt number 4 was good, except the varnish I had is old and thick and now it looks clumpy.

I could cry :(

Maybe I can sand it and refinish it with a new bottle of varnish when I get a chance to go out Monday.  Apparently I have to be kicked out so Jim can wrap my presents

Had a bit of a hectic week with sudden wisdom teeth pullings, but I had the surgery yesterday and am now recovering at home. So looks like I'll be in one place until new years, so I am ready for some hardcore crafting time! Movie marathon, crafts, and soft foods here I come :)

Post by: Onyxnox on December 23, 2013 08:25:12 AM
OK, I am done about 2-3 crafts (I did two variations of one thing, and am still iffy if I want to send one of the variations).  I had plans for 3 other items, but two may not get done, because it requires the use of a large and old electrical appliance type thing.

Right now, we are using a generator as the power lines were downed by two large trees and we may not have power for a couple of days yet until they string the lines up again - and it seems like this is the case in many areas of the city.

So I may be late sending if I make the items requiring the electrical appliance (trying to run the toaster oven and the microwave seemed to trip the breaker on the generator, so I don't want to risk it with the old appliance).  Unless I can do it in a couple of days or so.  OR I may have to rethink things and go in a different route, working from my stash.  Let me think on it.

I hope that power comes back super soon, Onyxnox.
Take care of yourself, I'll be sending lots of positive thoughts your way!

I just need to get the tea together and hopefully be able to send by the end of the week.

Happy Holiday to all you wonderful craftsters!

YAY - we got power back last night - a nice little Christmas surprise.  We weren't expecting it back until the weekend.  There are still tens of thousands in our city without it, and it has been quite cold, so I am hoping that they are doing OK.  We may still lose it again, since there are still some quite precarious tree limbs and it has been snowing on and off, which may be the final straw before some of those limbs break.  Here's to praying for warmth and safety for the rest out there who are suffering this weather without power in the North Eastern US and Quebec and the East Coast who also suffered this storm.

Just in case we lose power again though, I am flying through the parts of my projects that need electricity.  One of them is done!

I went out shopping for tea and now I'm feeling a little iffy on my choices. I may have to do a little more shopping. I dragged hubby to tea on the tiber http://www.teaonthetiber.com/ a victorian tea room in the historic part of our town and didn't like their selection at all so we braved teavana at the mall. teavana did not disappoint but the mall was a mad house :D

We are going on a little road trip til New Years Eve or so, so I'll be offline for a few days.

I finally have my tea! I still haven't started crafting yet, but have the next few days free to craft. I was looking for some of my material earlier and couldn't find where I placed it (I moved back in June and my fabric is now stored all over). Checking in!  I hope everyone had a great holiday.

I got some awesome tea themed items for Christmas I just had to share about. A Keurig coffee machine (that makes tea too of course!), a glass tea pot that also has a glass tea light warmer underneath, and a set of 6 cups and saucers that my mom brought me from the middle east. They are so pretty!

I'll finish up some of my crafting here in the next few days. I'm excited!

I had it in my head that mail out date was 2nd, not 3rd, so I already feel like there is extra time. Though mailing on the 6th would be nice. My car which was supposed to be fixed THIS weekend will now not be fixed till next weekend. Extra time will allow me to get to the post office easier. I can also use the crafting time.

I am enjoying a nice cup of peppermint tea right now.  I received a sweet Fiestaware teapot for a Christmas gift and I just love it!  I also received a new red tea kettle woot toot!  Hope you are all having a nice week.

Hope everyone who celebrated had a great holiday! (I got a dremel! Woohoo!)

despite some major roughness :'( i did get some really great Christmas swag! :o
my man got my a 3doodler!!! (yes we backed the kickstarter campaign in the summer but it arrived Christmas eve, on our way to the hospital)
and my baby brother got me (from crayola) a marker maker and a pump up airbrush machine that uses markers as well. so super awesome distractions.

i have everything plotted out and started, nothing finished tho ::), our plans for new years are a star wars marathon (which i have never seen) and dinner with the family on the first, with a cold snap hitting again crafting is the best way to spend time

Philadelphia has a massive parade going on right now. I've lived here 8 years and attended only once (not on purpose). I always seem to end up working, severely hung over, or both. This year I worked....and since I'm not sick, I'm going to use the rest of today and tomorrow to finish craftings for this swap.

Here is some info on the parade: http://www.webpronews.com/mummers-parade-2014-phillys-new-years-day-celebration-2014-01 (http://www.webpronews.com/mummers-parade-2014-phillys-new-years-day-celebration-2014-01)

While the String Bands and Fancy Brigades are AWESOME and insanely talented, the rest is mostly just drunk people yelling and peeing all over the city to blaring music. Happy New Year!  :P

I finished my package for ale0059 and will send today!   I was seriously stuck for awhile, but once I got going, I made things I really liked making.  I hope ale0059 likes them!

Eep! Really happy for the extension now as they are calling for 4-7 inches of snow tonight into tomorrow. And silly me decided to do 'just one more thing' for my package last night so I am not ready to send today as planned. :/ Here's hoping it isn't too bad! Stay safe other people in the north east!

If the weather continues to be bad over the weekend, just let me know that you will be late sending. Don't go out in the snow unless you have to if it is that bad.

Looking out the window it didn't look so bad here - then hubby tried to go to work and his car is now sideways in the sheet of ice formerly known as our driveway.

We had ice like that a few weeks ago and it was no fun.  We were stuck at home for days.

We were going to go out yesterday to do some running around with chores, and  I was going to send then, but it was too darned cold.  I am hoping to send tomorrow or Sunday when we do groceries.  I went to bed with hot water bottles last night it was so chilly, and the drainage trap froze enough for the new bathroom that the water wouldn't drain, so after DH warmed it up enough to drain, he is going to insulate it.  In the mean time, I am making some nice hot tea (some of the same stuff I bought Tricky McVomit) and some soup.

Getting everything bundled up to ship. I hate to be late but there is a bad storm coming Monday and Tuesday. If bad weather is coming, please don't go out unless you really have to. Going to the post office can wait a day or two. Stay safe.

There are a handful of things preventing me from sending on time, but I shouldn't be ridiculously late. Subzero temperatures (and the oil truck didn't fit down my street today!) and I'm still hanging on to the hope that a particular thing my dear boyfriend ordered late will arrive before I ship.

I have to mail on Wednesday. My car didn't get fixed this weekend and no matter how fast I rush out the door from work I can't catch the bus in time to get me to the post office before it closes. A mechanic is fixing my car tomorrow night (crazy... 15 - 20 minutes by car, 1.5 - 2 hours by bus). Sorry everybody :(

I'm mailing mine likely Wednesday as well! I didn't get it out today because I'm bad. ;) I commuted in to my university today despite a blizzard (why wasn't a snow day!?), and the usually 1 hour long drive took over 2.5 hours. Ugh. It's at "feels like" -31 Celsius (-24 F) now, and going down to "feels like" -39 C (-38 F) overnight. The wind is roaring at my 10th floor window, and I'm feeling drafts. But I'm putting the finishing touches on a few crafts!

I hope to send in the next two days too.  I don't like this cold weather stuff.  I feel like this year is worst than most. We've had several freezes here in Texas already where nobody could go anywhere or do anything. Ugh.

On a brighter note, I'm excited to see the gallery explode with tea goodness!

My package to whenindoubtsew was pretty swift getting out of the US. That is as far as I'll be able to track it with the international system. It left Miani, FL, on Monday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it won't take ages to get to Australia!

I can't figure out how or if I can use the Australian customs number to check on mine coming this way though. O, the torture of not knowing!

Yep you can - I don't know if you have iOS device but I have an app called 'Posted' and it will track a customs number in most countries. Once my package to you is logged in the US (usually Los Angeles) you can start tracking it's progress through USPS website as well. I just checked it - hasn't been logged in the US yet - I have my fingers crossed it gets there soon  :D
