Title: Overdye Purple/Blue/Green Yarn
Post by: teknicolor on May 07, 2013 02:52:40 PM

So, I'm fairly new to this whole dying/spinning process. I was going for a more uniform purple with some splotches of green here and there...I kiiind of got what I wanted, but about 50 shades lighter than desired. It's easter egg pale right now, where I wanted more vibrant/dark tones.

So I was thinking of overdying it, but I have absolutely no idea what color I should dye over it all. I would kind of like to keep the sort of tie dye effect of the other colors, just...darker. I did the first batch with a mix of koolaid and mccormick's food coloring, and put a mix of light blue/purple/green [very few green spots] on the stove in a water/vinegar mixture.
I don't mind some browns, but I don't want it looking like a doodoo mess. Maybe going over with another batch of purple or something? Any help/expertise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

So, I've been thinking about this one.  If you over dye with more purple, your green will turn brown.  But if you overdye with blue you'd get some awesome teal and blueish purples.
