Title: Yarn Bowl
Post by: MissingWillow on March 11, 2013 05:10:22 AM
I just completed the most recent round of Invite Your Partner with LimeRiot.  I worked from her pinterest board, which featured some 'please make this for me' items.   I found a few yarn bowls there, and was inspired to make one for her.  It's the largest piece I've ever thrown (I'm a newbie), I love the color.

Here's an action shot of the bowl at Lime's house.  Thanks so much for letting me use your photo!

What a beautiful and functional project!  I am sure it is going to get used a lot...and shown off! :D

It is a really lovely color that fits the recipient well... :D

Your pottery work is evolving into a new passion...it shows!

It's definitely going to get A LOT of use! It's already been put to work and I couldn't love it more. It is exceptionally crafted!

Awesome job there.

Did you cut the hook shape one the wheel while still quiet wet or did you wait till it was leatherhard to do it?

I was looking at these the other day.

Thanks Tanza!  I waited until it was leather hard (and after I footed it) to cut it. I hope that helps!

This yarn bowl is perfect.  I see so many that have lots of extra junk all over them for decoration.  All I can think when I see those is that something will get snagged.  I love the simplicity and color of this one.  You did an amazing job!

I've seen a lot of yarn bowls lately, yours is lovely.  I plan on trying to make one but I do slab construction, no wheel, boo hoo.  I wonder what dimensions should I try for?

Thanks much! I've made them 5-6 inches wide and 3-4 inches tall but you'd probably be better off asking an actual knitter.   :D
