Thanks! I wish I could get better pics. Between the dark colors and layers of wax, it was hard to get a pic that looks decent. It's spookier in person. :(

very creepy cool!  Those must be little birthday candles on top, what a nifty idea :)

They are little tiny ofrenda candles. I bought a bunch of cool tiny ofrenda items (including the little bottles, coffin, skeleton, and candles) at a Mexican store last Dia de los Muertos. I finally got around to using them! The candles are wider and shorter than birthday ones.

You can't see it but there are teeny little loteria cards around the inside and outside of the crate, that I aged with ink and wax. The whole think has a good deal of layers of wax, including the antique lace on the top. I just really love the look of wax-covered art. :) It gives a really cool texture, but it's hard to photograph.
