DARN IT!!! I'm thinking the same thing, mama! I knew when I signed up for my 5th swap that a whole bunch of other awesome swaps would open up too! There is an ever-so slim chance that one of my current swaps may finish on time. I do hope so!

By the way, MissSadieMae, I couldn't believe it when I opened up this thread. My full name is Sadie Mae Lewman! :P

I'm going to wait until the last second to sign up for this, my first swap ends a few days before sign ups end on this one and I want to be done and sent before I sign up. I'm hoping I'll be done early though :)

I'm a vegan. Think it'll be a super pain in the butt if I join this swap? I'd love to get foreign snacks, I just don't want to make it too hard for my partner with my limited diet. XD

I don't think it would be too much for me, hayleylujah, as long as you were very specific as to what you do and don't eat. But again, it all depends on whether I get feedback from my other swap in time or not!

I think I might join. . . also, don't forget that a "small flat rate box" is a US only thing, so anyone outside the US (like me - I'm in Canada), won't know what size that is!

A small flat rate box is probably about the size maybe a bit smaller then a shoe box. Ill try and get some dimensions later..

I think that's a good idea. Sorry I didn't catch this earlier. If you want to do your state that is prefectly fine, if you want ot just base it on the US that's fine too. Up to you..

i did this swap last year and i was so excited to do it, but, i felt cheated when i got my partners box. she said cereal box and i found out that cereal boxes are a lot smaller in canada than the US. make sure you communicate well so noone is disappointed, and read the questionairre (she sent snacks that was on my don't like list) i sent her a shoebox sized box of candy packed full of what she wanted plus a craft item and some crafty extras all packed in a larger box. i spent a good amount on the snacks and shipping. i was soooo disappointed and when my partner saw the difference in our boxes she said she had another package to send to me but it never came. so it is very important to communicate with your partner so you both are happy.

This is good advice, cause I was looking at the small flat rate box and realized it is nowhere near the size of a shoe box. I think it will be very good to comunicate with your partners.. Make sure you both understand what size and how much you will be sending.

I'm in the same boat as mama24boys--- if you end up extending signups, I should have feedback from at least one swap by this weekend, and I've been eying this swap ever since the thread popped up! But don't do it on my account. I don't want to delay anything ;D, Plus, I'm from Iowa, USA, so I wouldn't want to mess up the country balance you've got going :P

Ooh, I just saw that signups were extended.  This is the only swap I'm going to do until the end of the semester.  I just finished up two other swaps while going to school, and it was just way too hectic.  Luckily, crafting one item and buying a bunch of snacks isn't very labor intensive.  I just really really really hope that whoever is assigned to be my partner pays very close attention to the fact that I'm vegetarian.  (I made sure to put it in the questionnaire though)

What country is everyone from? I'm curious to know, and I don't want to wait until partners/the gallery to find out what the mix is looking like.

I'm from Canada!
I'm from America but right now im teaching in Korea so i plan to send cute korean food. im praying that i dont get anyone who is vegetarian (not that there is anything wrong with being vegetarian) because it is super hard to make sure that snacks and food here dont have fish or meat products in them. ive already began scouting out cute and unique snacks. just found one a type of chip that looks like a miniature chicken drumstick. it made my day  :D

many countries have similar snacks but different brand names, or twists to them. i am sure that there are lots of unique items that you could send that youre probably not thinking of. i found this list (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Australian_snack_foods) of australian snacks  that might help. i would just pick up the snacks that you enjoy as it is likely your partner does not have them in their country. also, there is always vegemite and tim tams

The one that I think would be hard would be Canada to US.  All I can think of there is Coffee Crisp......Aero??...Kit Kat??  I don't know.  There must be a site somewhere that should tell you what other countries don't have, but I do have a couple of ideas of my fave snacks that are local.

I'm having this problem while I've been trying to pre-plan! I've got a little list of things that I can get here and I know I can't get in the States. I'm hoping I get a country that's a little farther away so it'll be easier, but I'm willing to bet there are enough Americans signing up that all us non-us people might get paired up with the States. If that's the case for me I'm really hoping for unique local items, because I only live about 15 minutes from the border anyway, Stateside shopping is a normal thing for me.

Oh well - I'm excited for anything though! Care/snack packages are great no matter what's inside them. :)

(Also I was told that Aero's were available in the States, am I wrong? Also YOU GUYS DON'T HAVE KIT KATS?)

TIM TIMS!!!!!

We don't have aeros in MOST places, close to the border you can get them (bellingham WA has some, I went to school there) and randomly at closeout stores you will find them. We just have one flavor of kit kat (chocolate? original? i don't know) and I know that is not the case elsewhere.

I think I might break down and send in my q'naire. I LOVED all  the tea I got from my aussie partner last time. I would also love stuff like vegimite and more condiment-like things as opposed to just sweets and chips/crisps

in my neighborhood i can get green tea kit kats and they are to die for! yet every time the tiny candy store gets them in they put a 5 pack limit per person on them because every one wants them!

i would also enjoy savory/condiments as opposed to all sweets. although who could have enough new sweets to try!?  :D

Wow congrats!! As long as you don't eat all your swap treats in one go you should be fine ^___^ I was thinking that I might be able to get a few "healthy" snacks here in Italy as well, although some may not be made in Italy or typical from here... but like from Germany. Not sure if that would be ok ;)

you know, i never thought about the differences in snacks between canada and the US. whenever i think of canada i just picture maple sugar and syrup. oh, and those ice cube chocolates. my co-worker is canadian and occasionally she mentions snacks that ive never heard of. i lived in NY all my life before coming to korea and occasionally i found aero but it was always at fairway or big specialty stores. ive never seen a green tea kit kat though that sounds delicious!

I sent a lot of pop tarts last round. It seems so weird to me that those are not just ubiquitous "breakfast" everywhere.

"healthy" is obviously in the eye of the beholder. I found a candy company that makes candy with no preservatives or additives and there are SO many amazing, local chocolatierres here in seattle. I obviously couldn't cut THOSE out of my diet....I just eat better dessert really!

I sent kool-aid last time, which was great since it was so light and didn't take up any space. The marshmallows were huge on space but not on weight, and I know that a lot of places don't have "plain" marshmallows.

I already started a goody pile!!!!

You guys have way awesome candies that we don't really get here... Trust me.  (Yes on the Aero's!)  We totally have KitKats, but nothing too crazy.  Just the regular, white, and dark chocolate ones.  Maybe peanut butter too?
Do you guys still have that stuff that is like a caramel spread for toast?  Last time I saw some there it was the early to mid '90s, and I have no idea what it was called.  It was packaged in a square clear container with a red screwtop lid kind of like peanut butter.   Or that could be a Quebec thing.

I love the idea of getting stuff like tea, or random local food type things that will ship.  "Snack" is a loose term for me.  ;)  Different sodas (Irn- Bru!) are wicked great too, but they take up a ton of space.

I'm so psyched- I get to go to Anchorage before the send out, so I can get some of the extra cool snacks for mailing too!
I haven't bought much yet, I want to make sure my partner would like some of it.  I'm thinking of stuff like salmon jerky, or reindeer.  Maybe mini samples of different berry syrup, tea, local coffee... All sorts of ideas!  So many ideas!

I think I misunderstood. Lol I thought it was for items only available in Australia. I was all like "can't choose that as you can purchase it from the Australia food store here"

Now I get it. Blonde moment.

I would be willing to send to someone in states but I was wondering if anyone else would be willing to send in state. If that makes any sense

If anyone is from somewhere where Wise brand chips distributes, I'd be cool with that.  I have an obsession with Wise brand Cheez Doodles, the puffed ones.  For some reason none of my freekin' family will mail them to me!  And Moxie soda.  Or Big Red, since it's awesome too...

Really, I wouldn't mind swapping from wherever.  I love international packages, but regional stuff in the country is cool too (Nina would be cool to swap with, especially if she wants salmon!  But if someone is dead set on international, I don't want to take that away from them).   We mostly have regular US stuff up here, but there are some things that are hard to find.  Plus I adore trying different regional things!

Or Crispy Crunch?  I'll stop now  ;D

We have Cadbury stuff, but not nearly as much as is available elsewhere. Really, only the cream eggs year-round and then the little chocolate eggs at Easter (I wait ALL YEAR for those!). The British store has all kinds of them. My favorite so far is the Flake, I love the texture.

I've never heard of Ketchup or All Dressed chips before, or Jos Louis, or Oh Henry, though Crispy Crunch sounds familiar. . . I'm not a snack expert though, so some of that may be available in the U.S. for all I know.

That's what this swap is all about, I guess! My luck, though, I'll get addicted to something and never be able to get it again  :(

P.S. I found this when I looked up All Dresses chips haha:

And she likes British chcolate, which is so easy to get. Even though I live in the states, my supermaket has a huge British foods aisle. And Czech, Brazilian and South American. But anyway... chocolate. :) Oooh... and I live the Tazo Chocolate factory...I've been meaning to visit it.
Yay... I start planning this weekend. :)

POO for the craft bit.  (POO stands for Parts On Order!)  ;)
Actually I just have to go to a store to pick up a couple of items.  I just like the work acronym.
ETA: The hardest part is choosing WHAT to make.  I have a couple of neat ideas that would do, but I'm really waffling between what to choose.

I'm snagging a couple of things from Alaska Feed Store, since they have a big selection of Alaska made people food products that are delicious!  I have a stop or two around town at other places that carry local stuff to check out as well.  I love Saturdays!

I was thinking of the same thing about the things you have Down Under!  ;)

I didn't think these would make it through customs, but I thought it was something cool to post a picture of:

Moose antler shed dog chews!  The bull (male) moose shed their antlers during the winter, so you can find them in the woods.  Apparently someone got the idea to cut them down into smaller pieces for dogs to chew on.  Pretty darn cool!

Chalk it up to Crazy Alaskan Stuff.   ;D  I'll behave and not post a picture of the bar that has the naughty words hidden in the logo and "happy bears."

I better get going now to the grocery store, it looks like it's snowing again.

Just saw the pics of the antlers and have to say my 10 pound heavy chewer loves her antler.  We have had it for about 7 years but Cosmo barely touched it.  Luna how ever chews on it every night.  She is wearing it down for sure.  But I think I'll only need to buy one or 2 a year for her.  They are expensive down here on the Can/Wash boarder though.  Their piece is an antler that has been cut in half, to expose the core.

Sorry about the extremely long post, I need to get on here more often!

I bought my first goodie today. It was in the little novelty section at Target, so I have absolutely no idea whether or not it actually tastes good. I really hope it does.

I have a random question: can you non-US peeps get Girl Scout cookies? I usually don't buy them so I'm honestly not sure...

I could have sworn we had ketchup flavored potato chips here. But I could be wrong, I went to school just south of the Canadian border so maybe that's when I saw them. We do have pickle chips though :) Also what are all dressed flavoured chips?

so, in anticipation of partners I've been searching online for snacks that are available in Canada but not US (I'm assuming each of us is getting a US partner  ;)) and I've found a site where people are saying there ideas but its weird!!  So, you dont have ketchup or all dressed flavoured chips?  Or Flakies?? I think the flakies are the pastrie ones, though it could mean the chocolate bar.  Or Jos Louis?!?!   And when they say you don't have Cadbury products, does that mean you don't have cream eggs?????  That would be heart breaking!! they're my favourite!!  How about Oh Henry? Or Crispy Crunch?  I'll stop now  ;D

We have cream eggs, but we only get them at Easter. We have plain Cadbury chocolate bars too. I have to go to World Market to get Flake bars. :( Hershey makes a similar one, but it tastes weird (they make it with air bubbles. It's not good). We have Oh Henry here (in Colorado) and bars like Crispy Crunch.

I just bought lays Sriracha and Chicken and Waffles nope lol

Ummmmm.....interesting??  lol  :-X

I saw those, what do they actually taste like? Apparently there is a Cheesy Garlic Bread as well, although I haven't found it yet.

We have girl scout cookies!!!

And another group similar to girl scouts called the "brownies" really popular in the 90's. As a girl scout alternative. They make cookies too.

you made me think Listessa, when we package up our boxes we have to fill out the international form, so what does everyone put on it??  I know that legally I'm not allowed to send kinder eggs to US, but I may or may not be doing so, so what do I put on the label??  What if it takes forever because it says its edible?  I bought Zelda mints from ThinkGeek one time and they took like 6 weeks to get here only because of those mints!!!!  I really only wanted the tin!!! lol (which the boys have lost,  :-\ MUST FIND MORE!!!!)  So, ya, thats my question.

Hi!! You have a point, I was thinking the same... I am not sure if I'm allowed to send edibles to the US, or what customs will do, so I am just going to write something random like "craft supplies". What do you think?

Just in case they do check, here is the USPS's list of individual countries (http://pe.usps.com/text/Imm/immctry.htm) and their restrictions and prohibitions. It seems like if you fill out the proper paperwork and make sure it is very detailed and honest, you will have minimal issues. I might ask the postmaster for help, too.

Size Restrictions (https://www.usps.com/ship/can-you-ship-it-internationally.htm)
Hazardous Materials (https://www.usps.com/ship/can-you-ship-it-internationally.htm?showtab=2)

USPS Customs Forms (https://www.usps.com/ship/customs-forms.htm?)
I tried out the online customs form thing, here's what you have to do:

Just include a detailed description of each thing, and list it as 'gifts'. Seems easy enough. This is going to be expensive, though! It looks like about $30-$60 just to post mine. Oh well, it's what I signed up for, I guess.

Can't say that this applies to non-US people, but I thought it might help.

You middle of the country folks DO have more regional snacks...  Shoot.  Of course it's midnight-thirty right now and I'm sort of drawing blanks on specifics at the moment.    It's really simple stuff like some varieties and brands of chips or soda.  Even some candies.  A friend sent me some awesome preserves, and sourgum as a Christmas gift a year or two back.

Some of my paintball buddies and I have had extensive conversations about food!  Think the Pennsylvania folks speaking of Taylor Pork, the more southern people going on about Big Red soda, and me throwing in my two cents with Moxie and Wise brand Cheez Doodles.  ;)

I'm going to have to do some Shepard's Pie after next week when I'll be home to enjoy it.  I like to call it Cottage Pie, since technically Shepard's Pie is supposed to have lamb or mutton as the meat.  (That's amazingly excellent too!!  I LOVE Scottish food.)

I get sort of excited about the Cottage Pie.  I layer a ton of different veggies - carrots, corn, green and yellow beans, onion (sometimes I caramelize the onion first), chopped garlic, lima beans, celery, mushrooms, basically anything I have on hand that looks AWESOME.
It's really good if you use a combo of cream of celery and the cream of mushroom as the sauce too.  I want to try cream of asparagus in it too eventually.  I get really excited about cooking soups or stuff like this, so I always end up with a bunch to freeze or I cook it for a safety meeting at work.
I love throwing shredded cheese in just below the potato top too.  Once I also added in some Chow Chow, which is kind of like pickilli - sweet pickled veggies.  That made some to DIE for dinner, just enough extra flavor.  Yummy.

Last time I did it with ground moose too- oh man, that was amazing.

Nina, I'm envying your rainy day!  It flurried on and off all day long so it was slippery!  My boss slid his work truck in a ditch, and had to call the mechanics to tow him out, which was actually hilarious since nothing was damaged and nothing more than his pride was hurt!  Now all of the guys I work with are calling him "Mario An-ditchy."  ;)

I started crafting a little tonight until Thor decided to try and help.  So I had to take a bunny break for copious amounts of ear scritchies.  I think I'm going to have a relaxing and crafty day for Saturday.  It's going to be a zoo around town, since the Iron Dog snow machine race ends on the river in the morning, and I think there's a big hockey game in the evening.  I'm so ready for a little quiet crafting time- it was a busy work week!

WOw ive never made pie  like that!  sounds so yum! recipes welcome!! ;)  Its been a busy week here too.  I know im stressed cos i keep waking up early- work is stressing me out = crafting is like therapy!  AND i got my haircut for the first time in about a year (it was down to my belly button!! my hair grows way to quick and havent had time to drive 2 hours north to my old hair dresser - took the plunge today and tried someone closer and i was really happy! yay to finding a new hairdresser!)  so thehair cut was also like therapy. :)  Ive figured that i will try and get lots of diff samples of things to send as i think its nicer to try lots of stuff rather than just a few things?  What do you reckon?  Do any of my partners have a preference?  A little of each thing ( if i can find smaller packs) or more decent serves of less things? x

I just realized that my partner, aisy, may be just waking up in South Korea. They are 15 hours ahead of us! That means if it's 6:52 P.M. here, it is 9:52 A.M. over there. That's kind of cool :P

GOOD MORNING, AISY!!!

Every time I go grocery shopping now I'm scanning the aisles going "What would Canadian super markets not have?"  :D But I have a pretty big collection of snacks now, so maybe I should just focus on the craft part.

A little of each thing ( if i can find smaller packs) or more decent serves of less things? x

Sounds great!  I'll pull a couple of cool ones I have from my Mom and some of my "aunties" that are pretty classic New England style deliciousness too!  I love sharing recipes.

That sounds wonderful to get a haircut!  I've been thinking of getting a trim and maybe some highlights again.  I get wild over that once every couple of years or so.  I totally agree about it being therapy!  And how awesome to find someone new who is closer!!!

My hair is super curly, so I've been just letting it grow.  Right now it's only to about my bra band- so upper middle of my back.

So sorry to hear about your work stress.  I hope it gets better for you soon.  :)  I love pampering myself here and there or do more crafting to help deal with that.

As for snacks, I love trying a little bit of everything!  I'm really curious about different varieties of things, so I love sample packs.

Wow!  How much has it grown so far?
Can you take vitamins like folic acid, more B complexes, D, and biotin?
Thanks to the medical treatment I'm on, I had to start taking a bunch of those to help keep my hair and nails from getting messed up.  I had a huge improvement in fingernail strength from them, and my hair hasn't started falling out yet so I think it worked there too.  I did notice my hair seems to be growing faster too!  YAY!
I've been trying to grow it longer for ages.  I'd like it down to my butt eventually, but it takes so long to grow since it's super curly!

So I packed all my snacks into my planned box today. Turns out whatever I craft (haven't decided yet) will have to smallish and fairly flat unless I want to get a bigger box :)

Thanks Listessa! Im sure things will get better with work - always gotta be hopeful right? I'll try and find a few more "samples"  maybe i should raid the local hotels hahaha then i'll get prepackaged tea etc ;) ( i already have a few samples to send )  Im thinking like a lot of other people that im going to have to craft a smallish item!!  to fit in all the snacks!! :)

I'm the same way--- super curls that take forever to grow. It was getting sooo long (couldn't barely reach the ends behind my back), which I loved, but then I got stupid. Our XC team went to state, and we all dyed some of our hair blue. I bleached and dyed my ends and my bangs, and it friiiied my hair. I had to cut about five inches off my hair and basically had to chop all of my bangs off. I'm still wearing ponytails with my bangs cliped back because the ends flake off :(. But they're mostly grown back, so maybe I can wear my hair down this summer.

Hi. Just checking in. I am still really sick *sigh*

I have been told that if I don't get better I may need to go into hospital. So if I am quiet that is why. But I will try to keep everyone updated :)

Holy crap, bambam91!  I hope you get well soon.  The hospital is never fun.  :(

I'm glad I'm not the only one fending someone else off from the snack box.  Fortunately I caught my boyfriend when he started rummaging!   I have eleventy million things to eat in the house, tons of both healthy and unhealthy snacks, but he still made a b-line right for the stuff I just got together!  He got his big, greasy, mechanic hands off though when I told him he'd be replacing things...

It wouldn't have been so bad, but there was still more than half of the baked good of his choice I made him for Valentine's Day left!

I am 80% done on my 2 crafts, one is done and the other one a little more than halfway done! So excited ^_^ I'm still waiting to go to a specialty store to get more vegan snacks for one of my partners, but I should be able to send soon!

Ah, and next weekend I'll be going to the south of france for a few days so I might add a couple of things from there. Is it allowed?? ^_^

Oddly enough, the three things I have left to buy were the three things I thought of first! I've been having fun going to local food stores and different shops to find local vegan snacks. (Everytime I go in I end up doing a "One for you  - annnnnd, one for me")

Thanks for the thoughts :)

I know exactly what I am going to craft and all the techniques. I am waiting on supplies, so I may have to alter my items slightly because I can not find what I need in Brisbane.

It should still be awesome. I may need to reinforce my boxes with duct tape. They are sooo heavy!

I know, right?  I hope everyone is on the mend.  Being sick is NEVER any fun!

I only made a wee bit of progress this week.  Work kicked my butt so badly.  I'm ok, just sore muscles from manhandling a bunch of rolled vinyl flooring, and the 100lb roller to install it.  But SO much fun!  I love my job when I get to do a project like that.  It's like crafting on a big scale, since you start with nothing but supplies and end up with SOMETHING that looks nice.

Hi everyone,

Just checking in.

I went to the farmers markets today to visit basically my mother in law, because earlier in the week I asked her to put aside something for one of my partners.

While on the way there I thought my other partner would probably love some as well, but she had already sold out. She won't be back until the 24/03 :(

So I think I have to pop in during the week once she has restocked to grab something for my other partner, or have to send a second package. Lol
But while I was there I kept telling my partner how much I would love to send over some of our fresh produce. I picked up some really really great fruit and fresh QLD scallops :)

Now off to craft for 1 of my partners, as I picked up some supplies, but unable to find the other items :) They should arrive soon.

Yay!  All I have to do is the last craft step tonight, and start organizing/boxing stuff.  Hopefully I'll be ready to rock everything on Friday- I have a day off since it's Spring Break at work so it's perfect for a trip to the Post Office for international shipping! :D

Out of curiosity, do people tend to wrap up the snacks like other swap items?  I have plenty of tissue and stuff, so it's all good.  I just don't want to do something strange!

Cool!  I have a lot of flat or flattish things that will be better if I can stick them together, so wrapping might happen!  :)

Can you tell I'm angling to get rid of some tissue paper I just don't feel like putting away?  It's like reverse laziness.   But the spot for my wrapping paper stuff is hard to get to at the moment, so it sort of makes sense in my head.

Still plotting and planning my craft but I'm having trouble making up my mind!

As for the snackage, I'm having trouble finding things so I've enlisted the assistance of my very good Canadian friend who has lived her for just over 2 years now...she still laments the fact that Smarties aren't the same here :) I may have to share some of my loot with her as a 'thank you' for helping me out!!

Hmm. . . Anyone have tips for the cheapest way to mail to South Korea? My mom is surprisingly adept at fitting lots of things into a small box, so I think I might end up sending two small flat rate boxes rather than one medium one. The shipping prices are making me balk a little bit, but I signed up for it and fully intend to carry out my half of the swap  ;)

I totally hear you, Nina- I'm raiding the warehouse for a bigger box in the morning.  Otherwise it'll have to be a two part series too.  I'll let you know!

Because my boxes weigh more than 2kgs my shipping is $65 each..

I just need to finalise one of my crafted items and secure it in place. The other one needs some finishing touches and attach it.

I will finish them over the weekend and arrange for my bf to help take it to the post office.

Ohh and I need to get some cards to put in as well :)

Same here, this is why I set myself a limit of 2kg otherwise I'd end up spending a fortune for shipping :-P Still, they were almost 40$ each, but I knew that and figured it was reasonable.

I can't wait for other people to send so we can start seeing pics in the gallery ^__^

Wow I just can't believe the price to ship now days, I was so glad when they started the flat rate boxes here in the states. But I was noticing the flat rate international are just as expensive as sending regular international.

Whoops, pressed post before I typed anything :P I found the same thing. It's actually cheaper for me to just send priority ($60) than to send flat rate ($70)

no chance to get to the post office today

Will try tomorrow lunch!! ( otherwise it will be monday - so sorry for the delay!!)

I realized I went a little nutty on the box.  It's, ah, kind of heavy.  That's ok, just kind of embarrassing how much I got into doing this.  Sadly, it's a LOT cheaper than splitting it up into two smaller packages (even flat rate).  :)

I blame the stores.  Everything candy and gum related was on sale for around half off when I went shopping.   ::)  I get really excited about sending packages, I think it's something about living up in a city in the middle of nowhere!

I kind of taped the ever living heck out of the box too- I didn't want it breaking in transit and loosing delicious cargo.

Just an FYI, I'm going to be more or less unreachable for the weekend until Sunday night. I have a church retreat to go to, and they don't allow tech of any kind. If for some reason someone needs to talk to me, I'll get back to you Sunday night ASAP. Can't say I didn't warn you ;P.

I think you're going to love it!  Drool away too.  I can't WAIT for you to get it and open it.

Also, there are a couple of cans in it, they were NOT a scratch and dent sale, I swear.  They were pristine until the bag from the store gave way just as I was in the parking lot.  The ice and hard-pack snow on the ground wasn't too forgiving on the cans.  I'm sure the contents are just fine, but the dents look worse for wear.  I forgot to put that on the note inside!

Shipping day is tomorrow!  I'm excited!

Leather and lace, that sounds like such a nice get away!  I hope you have a lovely time.  :)  I like taking a break from technology sometimes myself.

It's getting so close! It's so exciting! :) I'm starting to wonder whether it might be cheaper for me to make a day of it and travel across the border (I live very close to the states) to mail it within the country rather than send from Canada post.  USPS flat rate boxes are much more affordable I think.

Just a thought I've been kicking around. Plus then I can do some cross border shopping of my own! I love stateside shopping - it's so much cheaper!

oooohhhh, thats a thought.  How would you do that?  Can your return address still be your own address?  I'm only 45 minutes away and if it saves that much money it would be totally worth the drive!!

I don't think they pay much attention to the return address.  ;)  I've gotten things from nice Canadian people who travel back and forth and send things via USPS that have their real return address.

Wednesday is pay day for me too. I have the day off work and so does my partner. I need help carrying the boxes. Soo heavy. I have noo muscles.

I tried to pack my boxes with my crafted items.. Hmm may need to send 2 boxes or be super awesome at packing with tape or something..

My boxes are packed and ready to go. Just need to wait for the muscle power and the money :)

I almost did the two box thing, but after playing with the USPS web page to calculate approximate price, it was WAY less expensive to do one box.  I still took it to the post office for the final sending, since I don't have a super accurate scale and I wanted to make sure I was doing it 100% correctly!

I'm just glad I could test calculate first!  I do like that about USPS online.

SENT! A bit late because I've been sick. But I did end up going across the border to send it from a USPS office as opposed to Canada Post. Those flat rate boxes are a thing of beauty which we do not possess. Haha.

Plus while I was there I went shopping and got some cool new shoes and stuff - so... I haven't actually saved any money... but.. Oh well.

I have an obsession for black boots.  You don't want to know how many pairs of different types of black boots I have.  Everything from dressy types to my work boots, to funky cool ones that I don't know what the heck I'll wear them with!

I love going shopping in different places anyway!

I swear, the waiting is the hardest part.  I can't wait for Nina to get the box I sent.  :D  I'm really looking forward to the one she sent too.  I just really hope she likes mine when it arrives!

I think that one of my swap packages may be here already, I got a call from customs yesterday and had to fill out a form to say what's in it (...surprise crafted items?) and its value. Hopefully they'll release it soon! Customs have become so strict here, it's ridiculous!

I GOT A BOX!!!!

I have to shower before opening it, I'm covered with little carpet fuzzies and goodness knows what else from work.  Don't want the nasty to contaminate food. :D

(Yes I am touching the laptop though...)  I'll post in an hour or two!!
