Yule Present Swap
The Swap Gallery (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=417674.0)

The festival of Yule marks the lowest point on the Wheel of the Year. The days have been growing shorter until the night has triumphed over daylight, winter weather is truly here now, and much of the plant and animal world has died or withdrawn from view. But we greet the Winter Solstice not with gloom and dread but with celebration! It is a time of parties, feasts, family gatherings, colourful lights and decorations, music and above all, the sharing of presents. As we exchange presents with family and friends, let's also share handmade gifts among our WWP family.

For this swap, send your partner a handmade, gift-wrapped present to be opened on Yule (December 21st). This is a substantial swap, so your package should contain at least one large item, or two medium items, a medium and two small items, or three or more small items. You may also include other items (made or purchased) for your partner's children or other family members if you like, but you should discuss it with your partner first.

Some information on the Sabbat: https://www.circlesanctuary.org/index.php/celebrating-the-seasons/winter-solstice (https://www.circlesanctuary.org/index.php/celebrating-the-seasons/winter-solstice)

To participate, complete this questionnaire, and PM it to the organizer, Wulf. Participants must post in the swap thread at least once a week, and maintain regular communication with their partners. Sharing the package you've received with everyone else is an important part of swapping, please post photos in the Swap Gallery. If you won't be able to for some reason, be sure to let your partner know early so they can take photos before sending.

Oops! I forgot to bookmark my own swap!

Yule is my favourite sabbat, and I always look forward to it.The weather here in Toronto usually doesn't turn really unpleasantly cold until after the 21st, so it's often quite mild and there is usually very little snow, if any. Also, I really dread the shortening days of Autumn, so the knowledge that dawn will now start to come a little earlier makes me feel more positive.

Adding everyone to the swap list now.

Wulf

Funny how a river and some latitude degree can change the weather! Here at Yule we're burried in snow and it's freezing cold, around -20°c. It should be better here in the city than where we were, thought. (but not much!)

As much as I'd love to sign up for this..I have to sit this one out :( We have been working lots of overtime in our shop, which is a good thing for my paycheck, but a bad thing for my free time lol! I actually may be working straight through until Thanksgiving and even then I may just have that day off then back to work :( So I don't want to sign up then not be able to get a lovely package done on time. I will definately be stalking the swap though!  ;)

Hello everyone!  I haven't been on at all in the last few months.  We had our ceiling fall in due to a leaky roof and the landlord has yet to fix it, we're going on 7 weeks! >:(  We've also been toying with the idea of buying a home so we've been busy scoping things out.  I think that this will be a great swap to deter my crazy mind.  Off to send in my info.

Wow. That is crazy and sucks! You should check on the renters laws in your state. In most states the landlord has to have people out fixing things like that within 48 hours. Going on 7 weeks is just negligence at it's worst. Hope it gets fixed soon!

Those who have already signed up, give a quick check to your Profile status. If it doesn't show this swap there, let me know. I've already learned that I forgot one person - I hope there aren't more!

Rosie, I hope your roof gets fixed soon. spookygrrly is right though, they have to fix such things in a set amount of time, so it may be worth looking into. And good luck with the house hunt.

I went to your yule board, Besty!

The landlord of the house we're renting was off to Africa for two years, but she's back already since her mom has cancer.
We were supposed to be here for two years..She's letting us stay until the end of August. She has to rent a place meanwhile.

So now we'll have to move with either a really really pregnant me or a very newborn baby. Papa has school (and exams!) until July 2nd, baby's due for mid-june. I hope we'll find a house before that. Ah! I'm a little stressed. I needed to vent.

Here I come with a random question:

Has any of you found your totem animals, if you tried? I was thinking about that after talking to my bf's aunt who's into shaminism, and she said it usually comes to you when you ask it, but you never know when and how many. It is more complex than I thought! We not only have 2-3 animals but something like 36, each for each aspect of our lifes, with 2-3 main ones.

So I was thinking of what animals has come to me, and remembered the day I saw a snowy owl (in the middle of the day!) on a tree by the frozen river. It was beautiful! I later asked my FIL if there really was such owls here or I just made it up, and he told me he saw it too, so I'm not crazy :)

I have the book Animal Speak but never read it until last week. I have asked my animal totem to show themselves to me. I love horses so I instantly thought they would come to me, but they didn’t. I was very shocked when a rat and a goose came to me. I have a pet goose that no one seems to like. I admit he is not very friendly but he allows me to love all over him.

My Goddess that calls to me is Epona and just last night I was reading in another book that said Epona is indeed the Goddess most related to horse, but she has also been none to ride on the back of a geese. I had never heard this but everything seems to be making sense to me now.

I will defiantly be doing more studies on animal totems. The book also states how your totems will change depending on which path you choose and how your live changes.

I didn't know that of Epona. Funny how sometimes things all seems to "make sense" to you when it doesn't to anyone.

It's like one night I dream of Wulf on a stage (in front of a jammed packed crowd) explanning how a hot air balloon works.

It seems totally random but there's 2 part to this dream: 1 you need to know that in french, hot air balloon is called MONGOLfière. That evening I've been showing Papa Wulf's yurt. Yurt are from Mongolia.
The stage thing is from Papa explaining how much one of his lecturer at school is giving themself in a show. When you know that, the random dream makes sense!

Post by: Wulf on November 18, 2012 04:34:14 PM
I absolutely love hearing about other people's odd dreams! I instantly imagined myself in a huge lecture hall, describing the physics of hot air ballooning! I didn't know the word "montgolfière", but it has a much better sound than "hot air balloon". I have theatre dreams all the time myself, but I'm never actually onstage. Instead, I'm usually passing through the backstage, trying to be quiet and not disturb someone else's show that's going on. I guess as I work backstage in theatre this makes sense, but it's still a bit weird that it comes up so often.

The other thing I dream about regularly is losing my shoes. I had another one a few days ago. What would Freudians make of this, I wonder?

Anyway, I hope everyone got their partners okay. I haven' heard any complaints, so I guess that means it's all okay.

Wulf

I will sometimes have intense dreams but not frequently...

I think the weirdest latest dream lately was that I was strapped to a bed and put in restraints. I was wheeled into my office and told that since I hadn't done enough for the upcoming inspection I wasn't allowed to leave!

Upon waking, it was humorous but it was weird during.

As a kid I had dreams that came true weeks or months later, not very often but I did get deja vu at those times. I wish I still had them....I liked them.

Why do we loose stuff like that?

Catching up - I have several animal totems, and all of them have just presented themselves in my life in odd, but meaningful ways. Like, frog, who came in the form of a figurine misplaced in a shop.

I tend to have ridiculously vivid dreams. My favorite in the last couple of years involved a vampire telling me I am resistant to change. I woke up laughing, so much for subtle hints from your subconscious.

On swap news, I have a lot of ideas and plan to get started this week.

I had a lot of déjà vu as a kid as well. I'm actually glad it stopped... It was getting very annoying (3-4 times a day when I was 10!) to the point I was thinking I was crazy. I still have them often. The most annoying thing is to have a déjà of a déjà vu, where I remember a different situation where I had the same déjà vu before...

I often dream I'm loosing my teeth. Sometimes all of them at once, sometimes they spoil, crack and fall one by one. I hate those as they seems so real!

I know what to make for this swap :D I really like repeat partners, you get to know the person very well!

Speaking of dreams.. I had my hoarding dream last night so now I'm in clean this mess up mode.  I hate having the hoarding dream.  Each time I am squished to the point of death and I wake up. My house isn't really hoardish but it does make me go in to over kill clean mode.  It drives my hubby crazy when I have that dream.
I haven't started crafting, stalking and some ideas brewing, hoping to start after Thanksgiving.

Post by: Wulf on November 20, 2012 05:25:32 PM
The teeth-cracking dream sounds awful, but somehow Rose's hoarding nightmare is more disturbing. I think it would make me go into a cleaning frenzy too. Of course it might be working the other way - thinking about the need to clean may trigger the dream.

One morning a few months ago, at about the anniversary of my mother's death, I was all ready to leave for work and realized I was ten minutes ahead of myself and would be have to wait for the bus. So I laid down on the bed and closed my eyes for a minute. I must have fallen asleep immediately, because I dreamed the phone rang and when I answered it and said "hello", my mom's voice on the other end of the line said "If you're going to catch that bus, you better get moving!" I woke up instantly of course and headed out the door, just in time to make it to the bus stop. Thanks, Mom!

I don't have any sort of animal totem, but then I've never looked for one. I'm sure sometimes they come unbidden if they have something very important to teach you, but I think most of the time you need to invite them. Because of my name, of course, wolves have always been peripherally in my life, but I've never considered the wolf a totem animal in the normal sense. This may just be stubbornness on my part.

Wulf

Hope you're feeling better, Lexy!

It's been weirdly quiet in the swap thread this week, so could everyone post just to report in? Let me know how you're all doing!

I've been proceeding in an unusual pattern. Usually I work steadily on a main project, then when I'm about to send out I think "This isn't enough on its own!" and I frantically put together a few extras to send. This time, I've had a box of extras accumulating for weeks (since before the swap, in fact) and I haven't yet started on my main thing. I know what it's going to be, but just didn't have a handle on what form it would take. But today I found some good bits in my stash, and an inspiring photo on Pinterest, so  I'm ready to go. But there are still a number of little ideas trying to get my attention, too. I think this might turn into a bottomless, Monnie-style package! ;D

I haven't crafted at all. First came my trip to dallas and then sickness, and it seems to just keep getting worse. I had to leave work saturday because I was just messing up, and now it seems my throat is going sore, and I work the phone!!!  :( Y'all send me some good energy this way. I need to start crafting. Also, I am off wednesday and thursday, and wednesday is the full moon, and my boyfriend lives out in the country so, we can start a fire and I can do my first full moon ritual outside, and have my first smores afterwards. And spend the night at my boyfriends place. I hope i won't still be sick or get sick again from being in the cold. Wish me luck y'all.

LA-Fairy, that really sucks! I remember working at the 411 and lost my voice from talking too much the first week! Hope you get better soon.

Witchhippie, I'm jealous- haven't camped for age...And now it snowed yesterday.

I'm done with the 2 doll orders I had last week and can now concentrate on Yule. I'm still near finishing my main thing and started a medium today while Mariann was making earings. I have so many ideas of extras, I don't know which to do first...

I really don't mind bottomless monnie-sized package, Wulf, if it helps!

We went to the indien village (wendake) near here to get wooden bow for the kids...And there was so many things I thought "Oh Wulf would love these! And theses!" but concentrating on checked the stuff in a souvenir boutique with 2 running kids is impossible!

I can just picture the kids running around the store with their bows and arrows! :D

The full moon ritual sounds great, Lexy, but KEEP WARM! It's really easy to get chilled at night at this time of the year, especially if you're sitting and meditating. The remedy, of course, is DANCING! Or hot ginger tea, if dancing is impractical. And I can't believe you've never had s'mores before. I thought they were part of every American childhood. Enjoy!

I often dream I'm loosing my teeth. Sometimes all of them at once, sometimes they spoil, crack and fall one by one. I hate those as they seems so real!
I have dreams about my teeth falling out in handfuls. My dentist says that most people who work in the dental field have similar dreams and maybe I should be thinking a career change. He has a Monty Python sense of humor.

My animal totem has been the seal since I was little. Don't know how or why, but it makes more sense to me every year.

Hawkeyes_girl
As a kid I had dreams that came true weeks or months later, not very often but I did get deja vu at those times. I wish I still had them....I liked them.

Why do we loose stuff like that?
We lose it because we've been socialized to not believe in our inner voices or that which cannot be 'scientifically proven and recreated.' I've had some wonderful spontaneous readings by a psychic. Asked about who smoked - my grandfather who died in 1989 during my senior year of high school, he was worried about me when he died and has been watching me ever since. We were in the middle of buying a house - he told us that they didn't think we could do it, meaning parts of my carefully pruned snarky family. There were some others that were just as out of the blue. I know that people talk about psychics not being real, but in my mind, there was no way anyone could have read those in my body language.

I had goddesses chose me - Kali, Lilith and Mary Magdalene are my trinity. (I have a seminary degree.) Others flit in and about my life. Last summer I did a reclaiming course "Rites of Passage (I think that's what it was called) and we spent 1 1/2 months working with Baba-Yaga. Incredibly powerful and it was about whatever change we were facing at the time. We were doing trance work the one week and I hadn't realized how much rage I was holding in until I couldn't get out of the trance. I was screaming and it was only the leader, an incredibly powerful witch who is one of the few I trust for that kind of witch, who was able to eventually bring me out. Incredibly cathartic experience. Not sure Why I'm feeling the need to share all this.

Blessings and gratitude for sharing yourselves - I treasure the interactions.

Wow, Selkie - Kali, Lilith, Mary Magdalene and Baba Yaga! Those are some powerful goddesses there! I hope you'll be back swapping soon, and do keep participating in the swap threads in the meantime.

And like you, Maman, I've already started hunting for the right box even though I'm not done crafting. This time I'm determined not to leave it to the last minute!

Some of you might remember a few swaps back when I was asking about different children's books that teach different spiritual ways. I heard about a book called The Earth Child's Handbook - Book 1: Crafts and inspiration for the spiritual child. I have it on order and I am very excited to get it. HOwever, when I was researching this book I found a list of several other books that are available for different age groups as well. I'm going to do more research on the other ones and see what they are about to. I just thought maybe some of you with small children might be interested in knowing the books as well.  ::)

Neat feedback, Selkie!

I found some coloring stuff on line, Pookypages for kids.
It's a little girl with a cat and they go over holidays.

Random: I ordered 2 more books that Phyllis Curott wrote. I still love her Witch Crafting book. I got the Love Spell (about her wiccan awakening and her search for love, it's not a supernatural thriller.) and her Book of Shadows. I haven't read the second one but so far so interesting!

hey folks, a while back, a couple of months ago now, I asked for your energy to support a bid I had put on a new house for me and my daughter. It is lovely to be able to ask for help from an amazing worldwide..almost cyber coven...like this..

well to fill you in on what happened..I didn't get the house...well actually I didn't not get the house, the bank has been dragging it's heels for ages. What happened instead, is that I got a bigger and cheaper one! It all happened very fast, I saw the house last week, viewed it on Tuesday and there was a little bit of a bidding war, but I won it and put a deposit on Yesterday!...so I like to think that our prayers were answered, just in a different way to what we had thought. The new house is so that I can live close to work, monday to friday (saving three hours driving a day...much better for me and the planet) and it gives my daughter somewhere to live as she starts college next september...and without having to pay to board somewhere, it means that she won't have massive student loans at the end of her degree

as to the house, it has been sadly neglected, there is strong evidence that it was used to grow cannabis, it has been empty for the last 6 months, a good clear out and repainting and some small repairs should make it beautiful (assuming that the structural survey on Sunday doesnt show up anything bad)...We will be moving in next september..

so in the meantime, I would love to do personal swaps with some of you..if you would like. I would love items for my new home, decorative, functional..whatever..but ones that you could charge with your spells for a safe, happy and warm new home..pm me if you are interested.

but mostly thank all of you who helped make this possible..never think that when you give energy to something, even across the world..that it is not effective.

I'm very happy with those news! I was wondering about you.
I'd love a personnal swap after christmas... we're moving too so I'd love to exchange decor things :)

swap wise, I did a couple of _________ yesterday and finised ________. I need to make "that" and "this" and finish "this" and then I'm done :)

We're going to the craft store today. I want to get a cône or a least a good piece of coardboard to make one. I had no luck finding a baby pine and we left the plastic tree at my in-laws, but I still want a 3D yule tree for the kids and our pagan nativity.

You know me and pictures! I surely will. I want to make a blog post for the naturalkidsteam.com about our different traditions.

I didn't do anything swap-wise today, but we did our tree out of a styrofoam cone and green construction paper. I gave to the kids the little wooden woodland animal I bought just for the nativity. I've put our stocking on the stairway. :)

CONSIDERING!!!!  AND there are more cracks!!!!  SOOO we are looking for a small house to rent so we can save up for a down payment.  I think the only thing helping with the stress is crafting for this swap.  Thanks for letting me vent.  :)

Argh. Pressure moving is NO fun! I'm happy we have until July to find something.

to your request:

I will tell you when the post is up. Like I say in the blog post, I'm cheating for the picture. Little Sun God won't show before December 1st at 11:12 (official Solstice hour!) and only the animals and the Triple Goddess remains until the Sun is reborn.

I really like that idea!! Is the tree just made of paper? Do you have a particular store that you tell your kids about? Sorry for all the questions.

I've cheated, it's a styrofoam cone (there was no paper ones...) and the rest is construction paper. My 4yr old did all the cutting, and I glued with hot glue gun. the 2 yr old did the messing around with craft supplie part.... you should see the room! a total mess...!

They are not old, so I keep it REALLY simple. I just tell them that the Sun is born on the Solstice and that the day will grow longer from that point. I also explained the triple goddess to my daughter this year.

Edel! So thrilled to hear about your bigger-and-cheaper house! It won't have the wonderful street address of the first one, unfortunately, but it's yours! Serves the bank right for wasting so much time - they end up making less money off of you for it. I'll start stockpiling House Blessing materials. When do you take possession?

Maman, I love the Nativity scene. (When I was little my mother always called it a crèche, even though she didn't speak a word of French otherwise. I wonder why.) And the tree is very sweet, too. It's great that the kids made it themselves (in spite of the resulting mess.) Will there be more ornaments on it?

There's a series of very lovely Pagan children's books called "Rupert's Tales" by Kyrja Withers and Tonia Bennington. http://paganwiccan.about.com/od/familyandparenting/fr/Review-Ruperts-Tales-The-Wheel-Of-The-Year.htm (http://paganwiccan.about.com/od/familyandparenting/fr/Review-Ruperts-Tales-The-Wheel-Of-The-Year.htm) I don't know what the age for them would be - maybe 7 or 8 years old?

And sorry to hear about your rotten roof (and even more rotten landlord), Rosie. I hope you'll find a nice little place to move to until you can buy your own. For the past year or two, our roof has been so worn and broken-up it looked like something on a haunted house. It didn't ever leak, but every time the rain came down I held my breath. Finally this fall we gave in and had a new steel roof put on. Now when I wake up to heavy rain in the morning, like today, I don't worry about it anymore.

I've been having trouble with my "large" item - I really don't like how it's turning out - so I've been ignoring it. And today I thought of a really great thing that I can work on instead. That doesn't solve the main problem, of course, but at least it buys time.

Wulf

She always puts on a children's work shop at the festivals. You should you tube her and her house. She is a very interesting person.  ;D

I've been wanting to buy that/those books, but somehow the fact that Mariann isn't very good at English yet hold be back. They look so sweet!

I'm almost done with my large item. I should say huge, in fact! (you better like it!) I'm done with another big and I still have a little extra on mind. I wanted to make an edible item and this will have to wait until I send, which is probably soon. I can still think of some extras but I guess if I'm ready to send by then I'll save them for another time :)

The new address is not too bad either, (although not as charming as the first one).. it is "8 Percy cottages, Magazine road".. the house is over a hundred years old. I checked the census records of 1911 (irish census records of 1911 and 1901 are online and searchable btw..if anyone has irish ancestry) and there was a family of three people living there in 1911..Dad, mam and baby girl..interestingly Mothers name was Elizabeth (which is my second name) and the daughters name was Eileen (which is my daughters second name!!)..I just need to find a man with a second name of Harry!...Contracts will close on my daughters birthday, which is the US presidents inauguration day 20 january..

happy days!

Any time anyone suggests looking up someone's house on Youtube, I'm intrigued! It's going on my list of things to check out, for sure. I learned of Kyrja Withers from an interview with her on the Pagan Heart in Maine podcast earlier this year.

"Magazine Road"! Of course when we hear "magazine" we think "People" or "Vogue", but I'm sure the road originally led to an ammunition magazine. But it's charmingly odd nonetheless!

While I'm done with my swap except for 2 details and the edible (which I need to stand to make, and pregnant-me-back does not allow it tonight), I can't get this sad cloud off my head.
We were looking into buying a home, and we met we a financial consellor today. Turns out it won't be possible, not with the price the houses are where we want to buy are expensive. The one we found we liked was 319k, and it was a condo! It's crazy!

So we'll have to seek for another appartment. It saddens me a lot...But at least now I know that I will birth this baby here, 2 weeks before moving. I don't know if it's comforting or not!

Magazine- It made me think of Magasin Général (the old store that had everything, but not in tons of copies like supermarket). We still use the word Magasin for boutiques and shops.

Wulf- I kind of like the tree that way. I thought of buying pom-pom (we're out of them) to decorate it, my daughter loves them. But which 4yr old doesn't?

you are right Wulf..(I think) it is magazine road, because of the army barracks across the road...!

useless fact of the day from the glorious interwebs: Magazine 1580s, "place for storing goods, especially military ammunition," from M.Fr. magasin "warehouse, depot, store" (15c.), from It. magazzino, from Arabic makhazin, pl. of makhzan "storehouse" (cf. Sp. almacén "warehouse, magazine"), from khazana "to store up." The original sense is almost obsolete; meaning "periodical journal" dates from the publication of the first one, "Gentleman's Magazine," in 1731, which was so called from earlier use of the word for a printed list of military stores and information, or in a figurative sense, from the publication being a "storehouse" of information.

No luck finding pom-poms. Can you beleive it? I thought I was a basic of any craft stores...

This week I finally got a rendez-vous at the dentist for the very painful abssessed teeth that was paining me for months. Turns out the teeth was damaged beyond repair (cracked in two!) and the only way was extraction. I spent yesterday in pain but today is okay. It's very weird having a whole there, but the swelling pain of the huge absess is gone, at last. I didn't want x-ray because I'm pregnant (and don't want them when I'm not!) and the dr. was very respectful of that, even before he checked in my mouth. When he did, he said he didn't need them anyway, that's how bad my teeth was.

One of my post on our december tradition is up :http://naturalkidsteam.com/wordpress/2012/12/december-traditions-pagan-yule

I still couldn't get my head around making the edible. Will do today or tomorrow and send tomorrow or the day after that :)

Wow that is strange Maman! The dollar stores here even carry them, and alot of times even in the seasonal colors!  I finished the packaging today for my give except for the end that I need to leave open until the gift is inside...I just had a brainstorm and had to make sure it would work  :D

Wulf -  I also have one item that is really a little to large to wrap and have it arrive still wrapped, is it ok to send it without wrapping? I can put tissue around it, but even that will probably have punctures and tears.

I read through this a couple of times and still didn't understand what you meant. "You can't send things through the mail without wrapping them," I thought. Then I read Maman's following post and realized I'd forgotten about the gift-wrapping too! Yes, of course it's okay to send something un-wrapped if it's too pointy and would tear through the wrapping.

Odd about the lack of pompoms, Maman. And it's not just four-year olds that love them - I do too!

Monnie wins the prize for first in the mail, and I'm off to set up the Gallery. I was hoping to finish up today, but I didn't, so I'll probably send on Sunday.

My boyfriend accidentaly thrown a 50$ worth of wool in the garbage this weekend. I had left the plastic bag on the porch, and when he took out the garbage he took it with it.

Can you feel it's not my week?

I found 2 box. One is way too small and the other still have some room in it. I decided to make something else to fill it a bit more:) I did a huge clean up in my craft room today (trying to find the bag). At least it feels good entering that room even if it's chilly...The wall heater is stock at 14°C!

Oh no!  I've done that too. I've finally learned (only took a few decades) that ONLY garbage ever goes in garbage bags. Everything else goes in clear bags so you can see it!

A reminder to all that tomorrow (Tuesday) is send-out day. I didn't get in the mail yesterday as I'd hoped because Ian wrapped up some Christmas parcels on Friday and used every small box in the house including the lovely one I'd set aside for MamanT's package. I should have hidden it better. So now I have to take everything to work this morning and find a box there.  :(

I wanted to go to the PO today. Not gonna happen. It's so dark, with a constant wind, sound freezing out there so I'm not gonna get out of my pyj!!

And the edible I finally tried to do yesterday did not work at all. Just some more dishes to wash!

The storm is still going here, but there was a little window of time where the weather was nice this afternoon, so I put everyone in their snowsuit (still in our pyj!) and we got outside until the weather turned bad again. The children were so delighted to play in the snow. There's snow angels all around the yard...well there was, now they must be covered. It was good for the moral. We got inside and made cupcakes, followed by them playing nicely with me knitting on the couch. This is the kind of day that cheers me up!

i was at the courthouse stuck in jury today today from 7:45-2. And as I was gathering my stuff to put in the box and mail before 4, i realized there was something i wanted to wash before doing so. So if I can't make it there today I will send tomorrow.

And i received last night, but still haven't opened it. I love to savor the moment when i do.

It sounds like you had a good day, Andréann, in spite of the lousy weather! And Lexy, that must be some sort of record for cross-continent parcel shipping. Did you send it Express or something, Monnie?

I have an hypothesis: they wait until their "place"box is full to ship it. At that time of the year, maybe the place's boxes get full quickier :)

That's entirely possible. Our postal clerk explained that that's exactly why overseas mail can take as long as six or seven weeks or as little as one. They don't ship the container until it's full, so if your parcel is one of the last on it will sail within a few days. But if a new one has just been started, you have to just sit there until enough other mail has followed yours. And if the container is over-full, they will sometimes send the excess by air, which is why sometimes things will get to Europe in only a couple of days!

Thanks to everyone who's sent. I hope your wee one is feeling better soon, Andréann, so you can get out from under him and out of the house!

We were able to get out today! My son is going well :) I also mailed the things for my niece and nephew. Two things done!

This PO is the worst ever!! I hate it! It's in a drugstore...right at the end of the shop, at the end of the TOY and CANDY aile. Then, in front of the PO desk, there's an entire wall of greeting cards.

The ladies that works there get so annoyed at my kids, THEY are annoying! "She shouldn't be touching that!" "there cards every where now!!!" (one card on the floor...c'mon!)... Why can't my kids be kids outside of my house? They suddenly have to behave like little adults. Well they're not! They will touch every candy bars at their eye level asking me to buy it while I try to fill the costum papers. No, they don't quietly stay next to me likes well trainned dogs. ugh. And I get reprimanded for using their tape...what kind of PO is it?

Sorry... It looks like I always have something negative to say this round! I really need some holidays in the family. Feeling alone gets on my moral.

I liked post offices a lot better when they were large government buildings with high ceilings, terrazzo floors, and lots of room for kids to run around without hurting anything. (Except occasionally themselves. :'() But I'm glad to hear the little pixie is feeling better.

I came home from the supermarket this morning and found two large packages sitting in my porch, one of which was from MamanTattoo! Canada Post must be working overtime this week to get things delivered so fast.

I'm going to wait until Yule to unwrap and post the goodies inside, though. It's less than a week away - I can hold out that long.

So I've heard! Honestly, I never understand how you mothers manage to take care of little ones and craft at the same time. I can barely manage the easier one of those!

We'll miss you, of course, Monnie. Be sure to keep us up-to-date, either here in the WWP pages or on Facebook. Everyone loves baby news. ;)

And Edel - A MAN!!! Congratulations! We look forward to hearing all about him as you dive back into the Craftster pool.

I was so proud of getting my package off to Maman a day early, and today as I was tidying attempting to tidy my workbench, I found the most important item - the one that started the whole package - still sitting there. Duh-oh! So it's off to the post office again tomorrow! :-[

Oh not me lol No more babies for me  I believe Monnie said something at the beginning of the summer? :D  I just know how it is with having all the little ones around.  My youngest is almost 6 months old and is already trying to crawl.  My 3rd daughter will be 2 in February and is a super genius at getting into everything possible if it will create mischief.  I FINALLY have a new picture with all my little naughties in it for my avatar, but for some reason craftster is always a huge pain in the rear when I try to change it. Hopefully the USPS is moving as fast as the Canadian post seems to be.  Lately I have been having huge delays in getting packages, not sure if it has to do with being on a military post or not.  I won't get any mail for 3 days and then BAM I have a huge stack of packages and letters.  Hubby says that since our mail goes through multiple off base post offices before either coming here or leaving here it takes longer.

This will probably be my last check in before Yule, I think Hubs is gonna chain me to my sewing machine until I have finished the rest of the gifts on our list! Have a blessed week :)  I will try to pop in, in between projects if I can

It might still come, Monnie. Christmas Day isn't until Tuesday, and the post office often puts on extra people for the last couple of days before. Sometimes there are even extra deliveries of parcels. So it could still happen!

Would it be ok with everyone if I tried my hand at organizing the Imbolc Swap? I would really appreciate a co-organanizer who has some experience under their belt to lend a hand if needed? Imbolc is usually smaller, but its deity is Brighid, who is someone I strongly associate with.

I was thinking maybe doing a wall decor item? A medium size, maybe an altered canvas, hoopla, painting, drawing, even sewn wall hangings? What does everyone think?

I'm sorry Wulf, the weather is hotter now so I'll have enough courage to get the box out of the car. It's been -20°C for a couple days, now there's a storm coming so the temperature is okay (even if there's 30cm of snow coming!)

Well today we had the nice weather (-3°C) without the snow! Looks like it's all the sud that got it, we didn't even see a snowflake today! So when we got back from piercing my daughter's ears (without any piercing in her ears!...It was supposed to be her godmother's gift but she froze at the end...) I got the box inside and took my pics. They are uploading right now :)

We finally got snow here in Toronto - it was supposed to be only 5 cm (2 inches) but I think it's more like 10 or 15. It's still at the pretty "winter wonderland" stage - before it starts to melt and get dirty. The temperature's not too cold, which is nice.
