DETAILS OF SWAP

Description:
Have you ever wondered how much you can fit in a standard sized envelope?

In this swap, you have two weeks to fill an envelope with random craft-related and/or crafted goodies from your personal craft stash and mail it to your partner(s).

The original idea for this swap was to keep the envelope within the limits for the minimum postage within the US (44 cents).
As I am now opening this up to international swappers, these restrictions can no longer apply, however, it would be nice to keep to the spirit of the original swap and keep to the lowest postage rate.
Guidelines for each countries postal service is different, so PLEASE try to communicate with partners with regard to envelope size/weight to be sent to keep postage low and ensure that reasonably matched packages are sent :)
I will attempt to match partners within regions if possible to help with this.

Since this swap requires little or no crafting time, you have the option of signing up for 1, 2, or 3 partners!

The Fine Print:
1. Good communication is very important!  It is your responsibility to inform your partner(s) and the organizers when you send/receive your envelopes.
2. Although this is a random swap, the general rule of thumb is to send out things which you would love to receive.
3. No DCNs will be required for this swap (because the envelopes do not qualify for DCNs), but you must agree to resend to your partner(s) if the envelope(s) go missing (for whatever reasons).
4. Everyone who signs up for the swap must post in this thread, the more often the better, so we can see what you are up to and know you are still around! Feel free to PM me if you foresee any problems so we can help you. This should not be an issue at all, since this will be a very fast, fun swap.

Also when contacting the organiser (mini_mum), please include one of following as message title:
Stuffed Envelope Swap Sign up
Stuffed Envelope Swap Question
Stuffed Envelope Swap Sent
Stuffed Envelope Swap Received

Please send completed questionnaires to mini_mum by PM, and DO NOT post here.

Please note: I will attempt to match crafters up with crafted requests but this may not be possible in all cases, and crafted items sent/received are senders choice, but negotiation encouraged :)

In the previous swaps, the limit seems like it has been 1 oz. is that what we should be staying close to?
I might send in a questionnaire tomorrow :)

YES!! we have swappers :)

Yes - although this is negotiable with partners.

Want to keep to the cheap postage rate like the 44 cent swaps so this might vary depending on where you are - I'm in UK and lowest postage rate is up to 100g.

I did my questionnaire as well.  If I am accepted this will be my first swap!  A little excited, and already pulling little things out of my stash, and brainstorming on ideas for things to make.

Yay!  I'm in!  I am already digging through my stash to see what all I can put in an envelope.  I have been fascinated by the "inchies" things... maybe I will attempt one as a craft to send!

SO glad you all decided to join up - this is the first swap I've organised, and as nervous as I was for my first swap!

For those of you who haven't swapped before - this one is nice and easy as, although there are details about what your partner does and doesn't like, basically it is totally up to you as to what you put in your envelope :)

Don't forget to check for the postage regs for your country as to max size and weight for cheapest postal rates and co-ordinate with your partner so you get some equality in packages :D

I will probably be in for one partner, as I'm just getting back. I encouraged the players to decorate the outside as well. We got some very nice pieces of art from this. Thank you mini mum for bringing this back.

does anyone have, or have access to, a die-cutting machine with alphabet dies? I would love to have a whole heap of letters in different fonts for paper-crafting and making busy-bags & quite books for the boys, but don't have access to the equipment.

If anyone is willing to swap for this, either as part of this swap, or as a personal swap, please let me know :)

I have a letter addiction.  I have tons, already cut, in foamies, and in paper.  I also have a cricut- but need to find the plug for it- kind of mislaid in my fairly recent move.

Let me know what you want/need and we can work something out.  :)

Yes, I have a Cricut, Cricut Imagine & BossKut Gazelle. I also have two Alphabet sets from Cuttlebug. I do have a lot of font cartridges for my Cricut. I can also cut out any font on my Gazelle. I can do this for you. :) Just let me know what kind of scripts and typefaces you have in mind. I was already thinking of sending die cuts for my envie package. :) I made a whole die cut envie in my last envie swap. I have pictures in that gallery. It was the first envie swap.

I am in another swap at another group for Rubber Stamping. Don't change send out dates, lol. I will have a panic attack. :) I always do my swaps in order I sign up for them. I always tend to send early.

I found the link to my last envie swap with the die cuts. Scroll down a little. I am sorry I was in round two not round one. Here's the link: www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=315827.msg3652684;topicseen#msg3652684

I have been pondering feathers, too!  And I am planning on a zip lock bag, as well as reinforcing the envelope.  I already made my envelope.  My daughter has been rolling her tween eyes for days!  ::)

Yessss :) partner soon! I keep eyeing up my stash like a crazy person asking the bf odd questions, to him anyway, like do you think feathers would get destroyed in the mail? And about the weather and how might affect my envelope

I have been pondering feathers, too!  And I am planning on a zip lock bag, as well as reinforcing the envelope.  I already made my envelope.  My daughter has been rolling her tween eyes for days!  ::)

HA! I have one of those tween eye rollers too! I've been going through stuff like crazy and looking at ideas for things to craft small enough to fit in an envelope. Getting ideas of things I can pick up from the Smoky Mountains too. So excited!! (I keep saying that, but I can't help it..I'm ...excited!)  ;D

One of the reasons I am looking forward to this swap is the hope that whoever I wind up swapping with will send me something local to them, or something that is interesting or important to them.

A great way to make friends, and learn about other places, etc.

Don't change send out dates, lol. I will have a panic attack. :)

Don't panic - send out stays the same!
I already made my envelope.  My daughter has been rolling her tween eyes for days!  ::)

Good grief - you guys are keen :D just what we like  :-* :-*
I haven't got to the tween stage yet, but wanting to know whats going on toddler is worse - can't do anything when little fingers are around :(

Sleeping baby and grumpy toddlers permitting, going to finalise partners now :)

ok - so partners are posted (yippee - children cooperated for once :))

I will be sending out questionnaires later, but it's tea time here now, so it'll be after they've gone to bed now before I have time.

I have tried to keep people sending as local as possible (except where asked otherwise :P). PLEASE try to keep to the original idea of a cheap swap, and only send within the cheapest posting rates - check you local regulations for details of size and weight limits!!

Don't forget to go to town with the envelopes!

Remember the most important thing is to HAVE FUN

teaser pictures are totally encouraged :)

Mini_mum, I will be glad to assist you via pm with organizational help or questions (the 44cent was my idea though I couldn't organize). My partner info is spot on, and you did a great job at matching. I can answer common questions from others about what is a good idea and what may be tricky. LOL I love to decorate the envys so I am off to get a good sense of my partner's tastes.

Don't feel bad at all! I was so excited to be in my first swap that  I started a list with every member and started planning what to get each one so that I would be ready once I got my partners.  I've gotten one done already, and the other two are done except for the craft part.   ;)

Mini_mum:  I wouldn't worry about it.  I think most everyone on this swap is feeling like me:  interested to see what catches other people's eye.  I am a little worried about mine.  Every person I am swapping with is getting a first time craft from me (inchie, ATC, or somesuch).  I am mixing them with actual "stuff", though, so hopefully everyone likes it! :)

Don't worry so much  :) I am sure you will do fine with it! Nice little organized swap to bring you over to the dark side. I have envelopes out and addressed to each of my partners, I went through my goodies a little last night and found perfect little treasures on top, now to dig down and find things underneath!

They are fast aren't they!

My problem with stalking pins & wists is that I get too sidetracked into things I want then don't have time for what I'm 'supposed' to be looking at!  ::) ::) ::)

PLease try not to be tooooooo nervous - this is a nice easy swap, and TBH the way it's written, we could all have stuffed envies before we got partners and that would have been just fine!

I am so annoyed that out of 50,000 sheets of paper (slight exaggeration- possibly) I cannot find the single piece of paper that is perfect for a steampunk envelope.  I have it.  I swear.  >:(

I went through my craft stash and didn't really find anything that I thought my partners would be interested in. I am planning on crafting something for them and buying some. Probably won't get started on the crafts until the week of the 16th because of my trip. I have been wracking my brain though to think of things to stuff the envies with :D My 4 year old has even been making suggestions, although I don't think a dinosaur would fit.

I thought I would have today to go through my stash, but I bought a new (to me) car last night & was running around all day today (my day off) trying to get the registration, inspection, and parking permit... I haven't even showered today and I have to leave in 15 minutes to go see a play. So much for getting anything done at home today! Sunday. Sunday is the day. I've been brainstorming & I have a good idea of what I'm sending... I wish I had chosen more partners now. I've been working so much lately that I was worried that I couldn't handle it, but I've got so much crap wonderfully useful stuff that needs a good home...

Well I was going to send all my envelopes out today. Unfortunately my cat that I love sooo much knocked a jug of water on both my completed envelopes. *sigh*. Almost everything in them was paper. *double sigh*. So I won't be sending until tommorow, as I have to remake a lot of stuff, re-decorate envelopes. etcetera. But tommorow they shall both be on their way!

Ohhh - we love our felines!!

Actually, I am so glad that none of us has allergies to animals - over half (in fact nearly all) of us have pets, so although it shouldn't be too bad with this swap, trying to match for pet allergies would have made it SO much harder.

My 4 year old has even been making suggestions, although I don't think a dinosaur would fit.

I love dinosaurs. I am dinosaur crazy. I guess I should have added that in my info. :) I bought two dinosaurs tonight.

I pulled out a couple of small items and have great ideas for crafting some more.

All three are done, sealed and ready to go.  Now all I have to do is get approval from the financial adviser (DH) that I can mail them Monday.   ;D

My swap partners:  Most of the crafts that I did were either first time or I am pretty new at it.  I hope you like them!

Well, I'm just getting to know my partner and will be able to send out by the end of the month, and all of the over achievers, you make me proud. I wish you were all in my slacker class this week. I love envie swaps and will decorate or print decorate my envy.

See, I cheated.  I only made envelopes out of scrapbook paper.  I have ~no~ talent in the drawing department, and wouldn't want my partners to throw them away out of fear  ;)

I'm going to visit family for a few days and then when I get back I get to get started on this swap.  I'm excited for it as this has always been on of my favorite type of swaps! I get to plan what to send while I'm gone though.

To be honest, I actually am a little afraid of disappointing my swap partners.  The envelopes are ~STUFFED~, no fear on that end.  But, my crafting skills are...random?  I love to try new things, and I do, and then I worry, worry, worry that it isn't going to be good enough.

Add to that a DH, DD, and DS who are exxtra (yes the additional X is there on purpose) attentive to detail and will point out errors...well, I worry.

I found myself this morning wanting to tear all the envelopes open and redo it all over again.  Haven't done that so far.

Yup - I agree :)

And DD - swap anxiety is completely, totally normal, so if you're going to hang around on Craftster for any lenght of time (and I think you will) then get used to it :D

HUH - seems like people are forgetting the 'minimum postage'  ::) ::)

Ok, so because my partners like different things, and I've got 4 other organised swaps and a personal swap going on (**slap head** stoopid!! but fun :D) I'm going to do, and send, each envie seperately.

So, partners, please don't panic if you see I've sent some but not yours, I haven't forgotten you :)

I've been working on the swap, but only in my head so far. Our trip is this week, so I have been preparing for it. I have ideas for both of my partners; I just have to decide exactly what I want to do. Also very excited to look for things on my vacation for the swap. Lots of shopping going on. I figure I will be sending around the 23rd. That will give me a week after I get back to get everything done. May have it done the 20th, but I'm not sure. I guess it depends on how motivated I am :D

I am working on my envie this week. I have three swaps going on so I am dabbling, lol. I noticed when I dabble in my swaps I get so much done and always send early. If I start the swap and work hard on it every day I make a mess of it and send on due date. Isn't that crazy? I think it's swap nerves.

I cheated too, normally I draw or paint all over my envelopes but I have the PERFECT scrapbook paper for one of my partners so I used it.
My biggest problem right now though is getting everything to fit in the envelopes. I keep stuffing them, taking them apart and then stuffing them again haha. One of my envelopes is taped and glued shut and I realized I forgot to take pictures, whoops o.O

(making excuses)

Things don't have to be even, you know... well, um...

I went online, and found out the max weights for each place, and...well... I went under max weight for both international ones, and would have been fine on the USA one, except for the dumb non-machinable thing...

Mailed the two internationals today- Gavagai and Mini_mum yours are on the way.  I hope you like them.  I sent them from my local post office which is a smaller branch- 2 employees.  Because it's so small, it is usually an extra day or two- so...sometime next week, maybe?

Mom2em:  Because I was over ($1.28 for postage and non-machinable) do you want me to skim down, or just have the extra?  It doesn't matter to me.

Am I going to get negative feedback for being over the weight limit?  It technically ~fits~ in the envelope...  ::)

Because I mainly do paper crafts most of the 'stuffing' is paper, but also want to make sure I include bits some that correspond to the ?aires.

the camera cord, the camera cord, I hate using someone else's puter.

You would not believe the treasures I got from pupper. I finished her envie today and my guy will post on Tuesday. I had to find the right 'ephemera'.

She's a paperholic and I'm a fabric ho. Great match!

Damn! Forgot to check in. Interrobam and hgddm your items are done and will be mailed to you on Monday provided the darn post office is open (Martin Luther King day). Solitary cricket I'm working on an idea for you. I'm trying hard not to go over the time limit. Having so much fun; this has gotten me out of a crafting rut.

I did that to a couple of partners - thought it might well put a few of us out of our comfort zones a little (me included) and spice things up a little :D

We spent the day in York yesterday, and I picked up a couple of bits for each partner in the National Railway Museum (in between the 'more trains, Mama' from Miles)!!!!

Thank you everyone for the condolences. My guinea pig died this weekend too. Too many losses in one month. A couple of weeks ago my DH almost died and my cat almost died. This is just  a horrid month. I am counting down the days till February. I will have my swap out on time mini_mum. I promise. I had to pull out of my other swaps on another board. I feel terrible. This is a good small swap to take my mind off of things. I can't wait to spoil my partner.

It always seems that things come together like that.
I'm SO glad that your DH is ok, and your cat - my cats are my 'other' kids, and I'm devastated when one dies.

Sorry you had to pull out of another swap, but glad you're able to distract yourself with this one. Let me know if there is anything I/we can do. January is half over, so Feb will come faster now.

lylacfey: Sorry for your loss :( I'll send prayers and warm wishes your way. 2012 is supposed to be better than 2011.

Envelopes: I have one almost ready to go, and the other almost almost ready to go. I'll be mailing either tomorrow or Wednesday. Is everyone mailing in "standard size envelope" (I have business size envelopes because that's the only size I have on hand... and they use standard postage rate too). I'm just not sure I should mail that way, or stuff them into manilla envelopes too just to get through the mail system safer.

My envie is going to be a bit heavier since I need to wrap my items carefully or they will get hurt. I plan to send on Monday if nothing happens. I hope nothing happens. I don't think I can take one more "happen." I just want to add a few more items to my envie. I can't wait for my partner to receive.

Hi all! I am sorry I haven't been around much lately. Things have been kind of crazy with work and family being ill (nothing serious, just a nasty cold that seems to stay forever). Anyway, I received both packages. Thank you so much! Both Mika and I love them! Will post pictures! One of my packages is almost ready to send, and I am working on the other.

I finished my envie on Saturday. I was going to mail on Saturday but the fuel pump went out in our car. I didn't want to run it to the post office at 11:55 p.m. when the postal rate was going to change in five minutes. I am mailing out on Monday. The envie is lying on the counter ready to be mailed. My DH is going to drop it in the mailbox. He's always very good at sending my swaps out.

I was planning on sending out today, but it was pouring down rain. We live 25 minutes from the post office. When I told my husband I was going he said that if it could wait until tomorrow he can drop it off while on his way to work. That way, I wouldn't have to get my little one out in the pouring rain, and wouldn't have to make an extra trip. I put it in his car in the front seat so he can't forget it :)

My husband just took my envies to the post office. I went way over, seriously...I hope I'm not in trouble. I knew they would be a little over because I didn't trust the envelopes (everything fit in regular envies, but they seemed too thin, and weren't sticking good), so I used the small bubble ones. I was so scared they would tear and everything would fall out.

Me sad  :(

Weighed envies and had to take stuff out of them all as they are overweight :(

I wanted to put a few extra bits in but had to be strong as I promised that I would stick to the minimum postage. Have to admit though that I was amazed just how much I did manage to stuff in the 100g weight limit!

Anyway, all being well I should be posting tomorrow.

x

As the person who envisioned such a 'cheap' swap and had done a few, I INTENTIONALLY went over. Getting so much stuff under 1 once is a challenge, but I did get a postal scale free and then cancelled my membership. I promise to be good on the next one.

LOL Bring on the wet noodles.  I'm so BBBBAAADDDDD!

ETA: Yes, I'm the queen of cheap.

I used a bubble envelope too. I will be beaten too, lol. My items definitely were not going to fit in a regular envie plus some are delicate. I know how the PO can be. They better not hurt my envie. I will be mad and send mini_mum after them, ROFL!

The day my DH sent my swaps out our new scale came in the mail, ROFL! I didn't get my scale free though. I bought one off of Ebay for only $4. WalMart had the same scale for $24.

This is my second envie swap. I don't think any of us have ever behaved and sent the right postage rate envie, lol.

I'm confused about the colors on our names that should show who has received, sent, etc. I could have swore they were there the other day, and now they aren't. I'm hoping my other partner received. I sent out a week ago.

no worries - I was going to keep both threads upto date, but too much like hard work  :-\ :-*

Well, we're just about wrapping this one up - out of 58 envies (plus all the extras and personal swaps going on) only waiting on 19 to be delivered.

Unfortunately I haven't had notification of 3 of those being sent yet :(

If anyone would like to voluteer to be an angel, if needed, please PM me :) you get a years 'friend of craftster' for doing this.

I'm getting so worried about the package I sent to my partner... How long do we wait in international swaps before we give up and send again?

PS- Are you still looking for swap angels, mini_mum?

I'll get feedback finished up ASAP.

Thank you all for a great swap.
