Title: Animated Kitchenware
Post by: adaiha on June 19, 2005 09:52:06 PM
This is one of my first embroidery projects.  The designs are from an Aunt Martha's pattern, and I plan to eventually finish all seven days.  Since I tend to get bored with projects, I have put off doing the rest until later.  Since I have discovered embroidery, I have little use for paper towels because I have tons of tea towels!

Here are a few detail shots:

I mostly used split stitch.  The eyes are satin stitch outlined with backstitch; the steam, the spoon, and lettering were done using stem stitch; and the little water drops are backstitch.  :)

Where are you getting your tea towels?

Actually, I have tons of large white napkins that my mother gave me.  They originally came from the hospital where my grandmother stayed on and off for a few years when she was battling cancer during the early nineties.  That is what I used for these.  I have also purchased tea towels from Wal-Mart, but they are HUGE.  I cut them in half and hem the edges; they come in packs of 5 for $5.00, so I end up with ten.  When I run out of these, I want to make my own.

Thanks for all of the compliments! :)  I was quite pleased with the results, too, and I was surprised to find that Aunt Martha's does actually have several cute patterns.

These are so cute!  I just bought these patterns last week but haven't had time to do anything with them yet.  Yours give me the inspiration to actually do something with them because they are friggin adorable!

Nice Stitches!  I love the patterns.  I have them too, but have yet to make them into anything...

Again, very impressed with your stitches.

Adaiha- I hope you don't mind if I add two pictures, I was just taking clothes in from the line and thought of this post when I took down these towels. Here are 2 of mine, I love the waffle weave towel, although the light color stitching doesn't show up well on camera:

Here is a towel I am working on currently; it's an Aunt Martha from the Animated Crockery patterns:

eek! the waffle towel looks icky brown and on screen... it's really a light sage green.
