Oh man, the reality of how long it takes something to reach another country just hit me. Eeeeeeeee...I want you to have it nooooooow! Also, I think I missed the fed ex guy today, but at any rate we'll find out soon.

Ah, the suspense...of waiting... :)

I know, I'm hoping everyone involved with the postal service are on their toes and aware that they are guardians of our precious creations with important destinations! Also, remember my teaser pic? Well, forget it. It turned out that I wasn't happy enough with it to send off so it'll be surprises all round!

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! I just got the package and I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE everything!!!! I was having just a stupid sort of day and having this waiting for me at home cheered me up right away! It was ridiculous too because I kept pulled out the first thing and went "Oh man this is the best thing ever" until I pulled out the second and third thing and said the same thing!

Here's what Paige sent!

A lovely letter to verify that she is indeed, a real human being and not my imagination. :)

Monster pillow!!!! It's so cute, my daughter keeps trying to take it! I'm keeping him on my desk!

And you know, in case anyone was ever visiting and wondering just how big a nerd I am:
It's my favorite Latin saying, completely in green! It looks like she even painted the hoop! Also, this was immaculately done. Whenever I make something like this there is a "wrong" side which the world should never EVER see, but the back of this looks pretty good. (Jess, there is a wrong side to your big item. Just a warning. :)

And finally, proof that I am possibly the most spoiled swap recipient ever:

As a crocheter, I can tell that had to have taken much longer than a few hours, unless you work at the speed of light. The stitching is beautiful and the yarn looks like it might be sock weight? That couldn't have been easy! Anyway, it's beautiful and soft and I can't wait to wear it with my dresses during shows and around campus when I want to let people know just how much more fancy I am than all of them.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

YAY!!!! I'm so happy you like everything. The yarn is 100% Merino fingering weight. I have to be honest and say that I was going for a neckerchief type item but it is much larger. Once I started it I had to see it all the way through. The hardest part was the little tassels!

I saw those little pillow monsters in another swap and thought they were very cute!

And I did paint the hoop!

Courtney, you are so very welcome! I had a great time making each item for you and I'm glad you liked them!

The shawl is incredible...I am stunned at the generosity of swappers...wow...no wonder newbies get addicted and become a part of the swapping family! :D

Beautiful job on that personalized package of goodies!

wow! It's all so fantastic! You did such a good job Paige! And of course Courtney is very lucky! Oh and Courtney, if you're concerned about 'wrong sides' don't be, mine is all of me when I wake up with hair like Einstein and Paige my larger item for you has one too (the inside) but my long term plan is to learn to craft wrong-side-free.

Such great work! I can't wait till we can fill out the rest of the gallery!

That shawl is SO intricate!

I know, isn't it all lovely? Now I'm self conscious about how my stuff is going to look. Seems as though wool is becoming a theme though (yes, that was a spoiler!).

Don't worry Courtney, I'm nervous too, probably because I don't know how to craft from wool yet so all you knitting and crocheting people seem like you have some kind of magical ability!

I came home from class today to an awesome and beautiful swap package!

Here is everything still all wrapped up!

An awesome pillow case with a betta fish on it! I love it! The fish is all shiny and pretty!

On the other side Jess put my name!

And she included some beautiful earrings and decorated bobby pins!

Please excuse the poor quality of my photos! I plan to add more(better) photos!

Thanks Jess! I love all of it! I didn't get it in these pictures but there was also a really pretty purple cord type thing...and I kinda wasn't sure what it was...:) I will include it when I add more pics.

Oh my goodness, it's all so beautiful! Great work Jess! I wish I could make jewelry!

Another awesome package! :D

Was the fish stenciled or painted with fabric paints?  Just asking because I've yet to try either method!

I'm so glad you liked it Paige! The purple cord was just some purple cord I threw in in case you could use it for your own crafting some time. I must have mucked up the measurements of the pillow, very kind of you not to comment ;) Thanks for for all the fun I had crafting for you!

Lovestoexperiment, with the fish I drew a picture onto silk and ironed it onto the case with iron on adhesive then used fabric paint to outline it. I had no idea if it would work but it did thank goodness, I'm sure you wouldn't have any trouble with it.

And Courtney I'm certain you could make jewelry! It's just like yarn crafts but it's less knit one/purl one and more pink bead/white bead  ;)

I'm lucky last!

Now, I'm pretty sure Jess lives on the other side of the planet. That being said, this wait is killing me. Also, I'm concerned about how things will settle in the package.

Oh man, is this what swap anxiety feels like?

aww--the wait is the worst part...especially if it is your first swap...I still get swap anxiety after all these years...it just means you want your partner to get your package and be happy! :D  Hang in there!

Courtney honestly don't fret, your package will arrive and I will love it guaranteed! I ordered a stamp from the US (received it a couple of weeks ago) and from the send date to when it arrived it took almost exactly a month.

Yep, snails are racing the postal service and winning.

Sometimes, it takes 4 to 6 weeks for swap packages to arrive...there's no reason to fret :)  Courtney, I'm excited to see what you made for Jess though!  The teaser picture you posted was interesting!

Received! Received! Received! And very excited about it!

Just got home from work and about to make dinner: even though I'm desperate to if I take photos now it they just won't do Courtney's beautiful work justice so I'm going to hold out till tomorrow morning when the lighting is better and I hope you all can too!

Thank you Courtney  ;D

- prepare yourself for a few pictures -

I received my swap package from Courtneykilledit and she's got crafty talent to spare.

So much to spare in fact that she's passed some on to her daughter who did this self portrait:

If she looks like that she is the cutest kid in the WORLD.

Courtney can draw too, don't think this little pic on the lovely letter she sent me escaped my attention:

She made me this trivet from recycled fabric becuase she knew that I have a soft spot for recycled crafts (it would have taken ages, I really appreciate it)

This hat made from wool and skill

and these hair clips (which could also be clipped onto the hat or a bag or a headband or about a billion other things as I've discovered)

and here's everything together because, well, why not?

As you can see I was motivated enough to use fabric for a background but not motivated enough to iron it first, but thankfully everyones eyes are distracted by courtneykilledit's clever creations!

Thank you so much for making my first swap a wonderful one!

I'm glad you like it! I was worried about everything, the trivet especially, since fabric that thick is an absolute beast to iron. I also was concerned the hat was too small or big. I'm glad you tried clipping the clips to the hat, because I actually did that too. :) And she does look like that, except her hair doesn't stick straight up, usually.

That hat is awesome! Great job with the color changes!

A trivet!  I would never have guessed...what a fab way to upcycle :)  The crocheted hat is lovely :D

Thanks! The hat really was nothing. It was done completely on public transit and actually got me a few offers for commission (pfft, as if anyone has time to make stuff to sell these days). It has a hip little slouch to the back of it that's kind of fun.

Again, I'm just glad it got there safe and Jess liked it!

The colors in the hat are just so fresh!  It is beautiful done as well!  How nice to include some flower pins to mix it up!

I also love recycled projects so the flower trivet is very clever!

The doodle drawings by both mother and daughter are cute...such a talented family, courtneykilledit!
