My turn (again!) ;D

This time round, I received a fantastic chunky house from MissingWillow!

Cute/Creepy zombie bat (made with felt and beads!) on the front of the chunky house...and yes, those are poly clay tiles!

And here's the back of the house...see the candy corn (yum!) :)

Thanks MissingWillow! :D

And Cackle, I love that man in the moon graphic - where did you find him?

Thanks, Sonjaboo! The moon graphic came from a vintage Halloween collage sheet I got from Alpha Stamps. (love that shop)
MW, yes, those are eyes on the roof trim. I think that border came from the same sheet of collage images. I love those vintage sheets...the paper is really thick and kind of soft.

I keep gazing wistfully at Alpha Stamps stuff, but haven't made a purchase from their web store yet. I suspect once I got started, it would be one of those, "once you pop you can't stop" sort of things. ;D

I made a lot of progress on my houses today -- I don't think I will finish them this evening, but they are looking very Halloweeny! And it's sort of funny how they came out completely differently than I had originally imagined.  But I think it was a good thing!

cackle, was the bingo card in the back from AlphaStamps as well or is that a 7Gypsies item?  I like how you incorporated it into your house.

I think that was also Alpha Stamps, it might even be from the same vintage Halloween collage sheet....pretty sure it's not 7gypsies. I'm sorry I can't give you a for sure answer-I cut the sheet up ans used a lot of it on this house and some other Halloween stuff I'm doing. I'll go take a look for it on Alpha Stamps and let you know!
I'm glad you like the house. I think my favorite thing on it are the eyes in the gingerbread trim going across the gable.  :)
I can't wait for all the houses to start filling the gallery. I love seeing how diverse everyone's ideas are!

I'm not even going to lie, I had more than enough paper to make my houses here in my ridiculous paper stash. But, that didn't stop me from buying a stack and a few sheets... you know, just in case.

My very first Halloween neighborhood has started. I received my little house from irid3sc3nt! She used skeletons as the theme - how cool is that? A couple of these dandies are hand cut. And I thought I was the Queen of Fussy Cutting!

Can you see the shadow of the Bates Motel-esque building? Neat! I love the Halloween banner - I'm totally going to snatch that idea!

The back has a couple of lines from a Louis Armstrong song "The Skeleton in the Closet". It's absolutely perfect for all the dancing skellies on the front!

Thanks so much irid3sc3nt! I love it!

My turn to post a wee pumpkin from Aisy.  The bat was knocked loose in it's envelope on the trip south but not to worry, I have a ton of glue.  Thanks for adding to my collection Aisy!

Oh, I love the banner! Did you cut out all those tiny triangles for that too?
Yep, those triangles were hand cut.  No punch-out for those.  Not even tracing a template.  It must have been a steady-hand-day.

The skeletons in the bottom right are from a screen shot I took from a video I remembered mixing to music at a Halloween warehouse party.  It's called "The Skeleton Dance"  and is a Silly Symphony Walt Disney comic short.  It's SO FUN!  You can find it on youtube for sure.

the houses look better in person, but because  i used a glossy finish it is hard to see what they really look like in photos :(. i used black pastel paper (really, really fun to play with) and used pastels, prismacolor pencils, and sometimes gel pens to decorate them. then i spray finished and  covered them in glossy modge podge. they are all hand-drawn and my own designs :)

Great houses so far!

Aisy, I love the pumpkin house shapes and your banners - very cool.
MissingWillow - gah! That vampire stole my heart. :) I love the X on his eye and those little rounded fangs. I mean, c'mon. He's just a nibbler!
Cackle - yours is spooky cool and chock full of great details. Especially the orange trim with the eyes - love this!

I have 1 house completed and have started a second. Yay!

I received a house from cackle yesterday, but had to wait for some sunlight - night owl disadvantages.

Isn't it cute? I love the birds wearing witch hats.  You can just see the sparkle of gold on the roof in this picture. I really like the star flowers on the branch, too.

And the back with an excellently written label with details.

Thank you so much cackle. I love it, my very first chunky house ever.

I received an awesome chunky pumpkin from irid3sc3nt! I love it. :D

The whole thing is slightly less blue tinted in real life (my camera is being fidgetty this morning) and those dark orange pumpkins are actually metallic orange. The cat is actually raised a bit so he looks like he's just popped out of the pumpkin and startled the kids. :D

Here's the back, which she painted up to be a cute jack-o-lantern:

cackle:  I, too, love that bone branch!  I didn't notice it until the comments.  What is the large hat made of?  It looks like fabric, or is it a really detailed photograph?

mandykaye:  The orange cat and JOL paper is awesome!  Where did you find it?  I like that the house has a popup feature.

MissingWillow:  I'm guessing that your papers came from AlphaStamps again :)  I'll really have to check it out.  I like seeing the creatures from the felt book.  It's so cute!

DanniQuee:  So glad you like your house!  I had fun finding the images for it.

Wow, everyone, this gallery is great!

Yay! More fab houses!

Cackle - love the witch birdies! Every self-respecting bird should wear a hat, right? Are the branches on the green part of the paper design, or added? I really like the vine-y effect.

Irid3sc3nt - love the pumpkin "house" and the pop-up kitty!

MandyKaye - such a fun house! I love that the door opens into an endless corridor. I just might use that idea one day - thanks!

Missing Willow - you slay me with the felt zombies! My favorite is still dracula-zombie, but honestly I'd let any of 'em nibble on my brains... they're so cute!

I'm designing house #3 in my head and feeling a wee bit of pressure to finish. My new printer should be delivered tomorrow so I can print more vintage goodness!

Cheers,
Susan

Between the witchy birds, the secret passageways behind doors and the little felt zombies this gallery is seriously amazing. Sort of makes me wish I had enough time and energy to have made 20 houses so I could swap with all of you. :D

irid3sc3nt: That (the orange kitty and JOL) is actually vintage-ish(?) ribbon! I found it in my super large stash inherited from my mother lol.

Killam Creative: The "corridor" is actually a picture from one of my college history texts of a medeival cathedral. I felt it to be fit for a halloween house lol.

I have received a darling house from mandykaye.
The front view, with my initial atop the door:

And when you open the brad/doorknob you find:

A tiny graveyard view and a shot of a Victorian parlor. I can't tell if that is a large doll or a dead girl (as in the Victorian mourning photos), but either way, it is pretty spooky.

The back:

The color of the fabric is truer on this shot than the first. I quite like that fabric - I'd love to perhaps do a little personal swap with you if you happen to have some more of it in need of a new home.

The house came wrapped up in cheerful halloween tissue, too.  Thank you very much mandykaye.

I'm so glad you like your house! That is a doll in the picture lol. That fabric is actually ribbon/trim and sadly I only have one roll..:( It would be neat to have a large peice of fabric with that print!  :D

irid3sc3nt: That (the orange kitty and JOL) is actually vintage-ish(?) ribbon! I found it in my super large stash inherited from my mother lol.

Oooh neat--inherited awesomeness :D

Here's the gorgeous house that arrived yesterday from loves2experiment.  I'm in love with the bat and the tiny tarot cards!  I have that full sized deck and now want the tiny ones.

Check out the gravestone detail on the back side.  Love it!

Thank you so much, Pauline!

I have received a darling house from mandykaye....

Great house! I, too, love the vibrant colors of that ribbon! That parlor is definitely spooky. :)

Love the bat, Loves2! It's cool that on the flip side that it kinda looks like a claw. Also impressive is the acrylic (vellum?) inset with "78". While I was trying to figure out how you stamped the numbers backwards, I realized you can see a bit of the bat head through the back. Neat idea! I was happy to give up the backwards-stamping thing, because that was confusing me. :) The gravestone is PERFECT. If my houses weren't 99% finished I'd totally lift that idea. :)

My favorite part is the buttons.  I just love buttons and they give the overall composition an older feeling.

Just catching up on all the latest additions to the gallery! :)
mandykaye, I love the behind-the-door scenes you've chosen for your chunky houses and I can't wait to see more!
Perhaps it's just right about Halloween and I'm seeing things that don't exist...but the shape of the 'moon' looks awfully like a skull in the back of the house!  Danni, was that intentional or one of those marvelous things that 'just happened'?

Connie, I'm glad you like your chunky house :D  If you have the full size deck, you can make mini decks...just saying ;)  Killiam Creative, the numbers for the houses were printed on transparencies and sandwiched between the layers of house shapes...no actual stamping was involved ;D

I'm glad the houses are arriving safely! I was a little worried about them since they're so much chunkier than the ones I've made in the past.

As for the skull, that was a happy accident that I hadn't even noticed until you mentioned it! :D The bird paper is some of my favorite, and while I've been hoarding it since I bought it (I'm one of *those* people, lol) I had perfect house sized chunks left after another project and couldn't talk myself into not using it. It's from one of Martha Stewart's paper pads from -I think- 2 years ago.  ::)

Message to all:

I've noticed that not everyone has posted photos of the houses they have received.  Everyone answered "yes" to the camera question, so there shouldn't be any missing photos.  If you're waiting for a grand finale when you have all of your houses... let's not do that.  Craftster has free image hosting.  Also, the posts can be viewed as "Images Only".
If your weather has been bad or you're only available at night, let your partner know and I'm sure they would be happy to post photos for you.

Thanks!

I just received an awesome house from Sarcastra! I unwrapped a charming package to find not just a chunky house, but a chunky house with a history. It came with a great little story and the accompanying accoutrement.
I won't share the story as it may spoil it for other swap partners!

Here is the front

And here is the front with the wee coffin opened. Aak! Love it.

The back is just as wonderful as the front

Here is the whole "story" put together.

It really is a wonderful little scenario! Thank you so much Sarcastra!

What a wonderful house, Sarcastra! The cat head paper is fantastic. Love the coffin! I'm definitely having tree envy... and I'm wondering how the umbrella fits into the story. :) Love the house shape!

Cackle - love the moon face - was it a digital download or sheet? Please tell! Love the band, too.
mandykaye - the woods image and mossy 3D element makes your house nicely spooky!

..and I received a fab chunky house this evening...from SonjaBoo!  I was having a crummy day at work and totally forgot that I had fun mail to look forward to :)  I love the roof of the house...it's made with this lovely velvet flocked paper and the skull flower embellishment is too rad!

I received from TheSavoyTruffle today.  Here is the house.

A little monacle was added to the top pumpkin on the front and the middle one has a little mustache!  It made me chuckle when I saw it.  I'm not sure which side I like better, actually.  It may be one that I occasionally flip.

Thank you, TheSavoyTruffle!

I love the witch photo and I was tickled that she used it in constructing my house.  The detail diagonal shot is so you can see some of the 3-D elements.  The witches have pop tabs behind them, the brick background is embossed, the black trim is embossed and the roses& leaves really pop out of the trees.

Thank you, Killam Creative!

There are some seriously amazing houses here -- beautiful work ladies!

And speaking of beautiful houses, I finally (finally) have pics of the houses that I have received!

First up, from aisy -- a darling haunted pumpkin with a very sparkly spider!

Next, from MissingWillow -- ZombieDuck! Ha! This cracks me up so much. And the roof is all poly clay -- very fancy! Please note the little eyeball hanging out of the duck. Too awesome!

And finally, a gorgeous house from loves2experiment -- I absolutely love the black cat!

Thank you all so much for swapping -- this has been a fantastic chunky house swap, yet again. ;D

I received two more awesome Halloween houses; my little town is really shaping up well. :)

First, from TheSavoryTruffle:

Zombie Sheep! This one made me laugh as soon as I pulled it out of the envelope. I love the flailing skeleton and the fact that one of the sheep has a foot sticking out of its mouth. :D

Here is the back:

Next, from Killam Creative:

Check out this dapper fellow! He's embossed as are the big sparkly swirly bits (which are amazing and I want to know how you did them!). The fit in really well with the pretty dresden trim along the top and the big chunky ribbon at the bottom.. I just want to keep touching it. ;)

Here's the back of this one:

Thank you both again for the excellent houses, I love them! ;D

What a great collection! I'm definitely in love with the house irid3sc3nt sent - is that mini chicken wire? I *need*!

I'm so glad you like your house! The skeleton is a Tim Holtz stamp that was stamped on the backing paper and on a scrap paper. The scrap paper version was painstakingly cut with an itty bitty Xacto knife, including the ribs. As if that wasn't enough, I randomly inked then squished him on an embossing ink pad and sprinkled embossing powder on him. He's shiny! The vintage labels were from an assortment of free vintage graphics sites - I can look up the sources if anyone wants.  I just can't remember off the top of my head. The "a cure for what ails" is stamped with individual letters and then "painted" with Glossy Accents.

Cheers,
Susan

OMGosh! The zombie sheep are fabulous!

I'm so happy you like your little dandy skellie. He was stamped then painted with Glossy Accents for the embossed look. The swirls are part of the paper design that I "enhanced". First, I used Ranger's Rock Candy Distress Stickles but didn't like the look after it dried. I then coated all that with Black Diamond Stickles  - yummy. :) I love texture!

Cheers,
Susan

The back:

I couldn't get a pic without shadows....to the right it reads "A midnight vigil holds the swarthy bat!"

Inside the casket:

a ribbon with skeleton on it!

All the extras she made!

So neat!! That pic of me with the witch hat is so funny!

Yes, I made everything on the houses (except the prints) I loved the whole process, especially the texture on the houses and the fence. And even the bats (as much as it hurt my fingers in the end to cut them out)

I have received my two final houses.

From RamonaQ:

The front. This light doesn't show it, but there is a delicate iridescence to the the butterfly stripes.

The back.  I cannot imagine where you found that picture with the enormously skull-headed doctor!  Wow.  Like that gold foil trim, too!
Thank you, RamonaQ

From imera:

The front. Amazing texture and so many details!  The vampire looking at the moon, the bats (love those bats!!) the mysterious creeping fog. And of course, the ghost in the attic porthole window.

The back.  I really like your moons, the swirly paint is great.  Again, those bats kill me; I just love them.  Definitely worth the sore fingers I'm sure you had.  And my own personal little graveyard at the side.
Thank you, imera.

My neighborhood:

I love all my houses, ladies.  This has been a very good swap!

Here is the chunky house that I sent to TheSavoyTruffle, since she asked me to post a photo.

The inspiration for this chunky house was a "Greetings from..." postcard.  TheSavoyTruffle really liked the heads of Easter Island so I thought "what if they were having a party?"  The black crepe paper is supposed to be masks on their faces, but my husband says it doesn't translate like that.

Thanks! I'll have to check them out. :)

The abdomen is a flatback Swarovski crystal - the yummy color is padparadscha. The spiderweb is from a 12x12 sheet of Authentique's Glowing paper line, but I don't know the specific name of the sheet. I used the tip of the Glossy Accents bottle to paint over the lines so it looks like it was wet embossed.

Sorry for the delay with posting this guys, I've been working mega super over-time at work the past few weeks and have consistently been coming home and falling asleep. I haven't managed to get candy for the trick or treaters or carve my pumpkins yet either. Yeesh!

Anyway, here is my fourth and final fantastic Hallowe'en house from GoatGoddess:

The text says:

There hot is cold and cold is hot,
and what is thick is thin.
And what you see if seldom so,
although it might have been.

It is a sad, delightful place.
You'll like it if you try it!

And here's the back:

And, this is the house I sent to TheSavoryTruffle:

Thank you all for an awesome swap! Happy Halloween! ;D

Thank you so much Sarcastra! I really appreciate all the hard work and thought you put into this house. I love the day of the dead references, I went to a day of the dead festival this past weekend!

Mandykaye, Cackle, Imera and RamonaQ (or anyone who wants to):
The full story of your Tisiphone Lane is here: http://too-lazy-to-be-evil.com/blog/?page_id=4025 (http://too-lazy-to-be-evil.com/blog/?page_id=4025)
That way you can read about your neighbors and get the ending bit of the story.
Thank you all for a great swap!
