Will probably sign up for this one after I send out my two current swaps.

I like the themes! But can anyone explain hidden secret inchie?

what I think of as a possible hidden secret inchie would be things like: a disguised flap to lift, a hidden pocket with something inside, or an image that is disguised or partially hidden.

what does everyone else think a hidden secret inchie could be?

I had such a good idea for "Hidden Secret" that I just had to make it right now!  Then I got a bit carried away and made 7 more themes....ha...and we don't even have partners yet.  Oh well...I figured they could be for the 5 that I pick to make.  And if for some reason they don't get used for this swap...I'll just keep them. :)  Inchies are addicting!

I have a busy day today so whoever sends questionaires won't have feedback until tomorrow. There is plenty of room and there have been a couple of volunteers for co-org. I'll probably close sign-ups early monday morning when I get up so that anyone who happens to be up late on Sunday or in a different time zone has a chance.

Keep the questionaire's coming!

Thank you. nilmerg's message came up first so that's who I will swap down to just one partner.

Unfortunately I won't be able to get partners out till this afternoon. I have Vacation Bible School at my church this week. I didn't realise that when I chose the end of sign-ups.

If I have time I might be able to post hte list of partners here before I go and just send the messages later today.

Partners are up now! Thanks for being patient. I'll send out the questionaires as soon as I can. In the mean time if you're really eager feel free to look your partners up ans start stalking. :)

You should all now have a pm with your partner(s) details. If there any info missing or you didn't get a PM let me know and I'll sort it out. Thanks!

Ok, here is a stupid question. So, I look at the five themes my partner has picked and then I pick 5 additional themes from what is left on her list. What I make for her has nothing to do with the themes I picked on my questionnaire. Right?

It's not a stupid question at all and yes. You make inchies of the 5 things that she picked keeping in mind the things and colors that she likes and pick 5 additional themes from what's left on the list.      If you want it to be ones that you picked on your questionaire that's fine too but not necessary and you may have both picked a couple the same.

While we are asking "silly" questions, for an inchie of the first initial of your partner's firt name, is that the crafter's name or the receiver's name? I wasn't sure about partner's name being the partner of the one filling out the questionnaire or the partner of the one receiving the questionnaire.

Thanks!

That's a good question. I guess it isn't very clear. I would suggest asking your partner(s) which way around they thought it was and go from there.

QUESTION!

"Inchie with something local to inchie maker"

I'm not sure how literal that theme is - do I need to find something local and make an inchie with it, or design an inchie around a local thing?

jmiller614: If you're drawing something, get a Micron 005 pen - you can draw anything on your inchie with that pen.

This is the only inchie I have had the time to make thus far, but I actually drew something for which my town is famous.

I worked on these a lot yesterday and finished the last ones today!  I was going to throw them in the mail today but I was worried they'll be too heavy for just 1 stamp.  So...I'm going to the post office tomorrow anyways so I'll have them check them then.

I enjoyed the categories very much!  I feel like these turned out a TON better than my first set of inches in the Beginner swap.  I think I got these themes a lot better. :)

11 done....just over 1/3 of the way there!  We have one partner in England, and I think I'm going to try to get hers done first since they'll take longer to get there.  I usually wait and send them all at once, but maybe not this time :) Fun fun!

uhhh, Okay.  I was proud I got ONE inchie done.  But that's because it was a moveable one.  I got another done today,.... but.... Jeez, I guess I am so slow.  Maybe I'll get some done later, but probably just a few.  I'm concentrating on the ones that I'm putting a bit more planning than usual on.

Wow! You guys are fast! I haven't even thought of any inchies to make yet. Will start brainstorming this weekend.

My sister are doing a personal inchie swap with andATC (like the last inchie swap). We're having the same send out day and the scavenger hunt, and sending them through the mail - even though we see each other a ton every week.  :D

This weekend is proclaimed an inchie weekend. That is when I will get on a roll and do them all at once like a madwoman.

UGH....
THis swap is proving to be much harder than I anticipated! Especially having problems w/ the moving parts and hidden item. Can anyone give me some ideas of how to do these?
 ???

I would recommend folding paper over things for the hidden item, and you can use a strong piece of thread to make an axis for bits to rotate around.

For the moving part I used a brad punched through the inchie to create something that can spin around.

They must have been 30 exceptional inchies,.... that some animal just had to have!  Awww, that's terrible.  Hope you found out what happened to them.  But I would take it as a compliment.   :D

For the hidden, I've made one with a pocket and one with flaps so far.
And as for the movable, I've thought about using flaps for one of those too, and used the brad idea for another that I have already done.  I can't wait to see how everyone else does theirs, though.

I got 5 done last night for a total of..... *drumroll* SIX!  This weekend will be pretty busy for me, but I'm hoping to have some inchie time later at night.  That's the way it usually works for me anyway!

Wow you are all inchie machines! I haven't made inchies before so I have been taking my time planning them (I hope that's the right thing to do) normally I'm quite spontaneous but I don't want to mess up. I hope to get started on them over the weekend and get them posted on their merry way to Canada asap!  ;D

Well done for posting already Coconutbells, you always put us all to shame.

I have had a bit of a think about the inchies, but haven't got much further than that yet. Just trying to finish a hoop for the ongoing hoopla swap first.

I should probably have stopped by sooner and let you know that I'm your scavenger hunt co-organiser. So Hi all participants in Nilmerg's groups (thats mostly those who asked for one partner). /wave!

Crafty Butterfly certainly has set us a chalange with this swap, but I'm sure you will all rise fantastically to the challenge! If you have any questions that you don't feel comfortable posting in the forum, then please pm either myself or crafty butterfly.

I'm all set to mail out.  I've got them sitting on my desk in front of me in an addressed, stamped envelope as we speak.  Do I need to get delivery confirmation for this?  Sorry....that question might have already been answered.  I'm a little behind, but ready to run to the post office on my lunch break today if necessary....unless you tell me I can just pop this little baby in the mailbox.  That would be much easier.

I don't think a DC was needed.. I didn't get one, and I don't think you can for regular sized envelopes anyway.  However, I would still take them to the PO and have them going first class (All mine, sent out earlier were 88 cents, but that was based on added weight, I've had them go as low as 60 cents).  If the inchies have any embellishments whatsoever and it is just stamped, the machine can stick to something as small as a brad and rip the envelope up.  Or, if someone at the PO feels something in it, (dimensional sticker, ribbon, etc) they can mark up the postage and the receiver of the envelope will have to go to the PO and pay it.  It has happened a few times with just a single brad in the envelope.

Um, the first page says Delivery Confirmation is required for this swap, so I would do it just to be safe. Mine went out of country so I didn't even think about it.

On the front page it just says YES/NO next to the delivery confirmation question. Since it was unclear I didn't use one because I've never been in an inchie swap where they were required, and I just send in a regular envelope. I did use extra postage to make sure it would get there. If you take it to the counter they can put it through the tester to make sure it will fit in the machine.

I sent mine out today, and didn't put DC or extra postage on it. I did ask them to hand stamp it only (and it was written on the envelope), which should keep it from going through the machine and getting stuck on any bulgy bits.

Thanks for the advice guys.  I ended up just mailing it regular mail (no DC).  I just got antsy and I did add extra postage.  My inchies happened to be super flat (no brads or beads), so I think I'll be okay.

A DC is ALWAYS required for a package for swaps on craftster, EXCEPT for paper-based swaps that will fit into an unpadded envelope because you can't get a DC for them.  I doubled checked with a mod on almost every paper based swap I've been in, and I that is always the same answer.  The only paper based swap I had to get a DC for was a handmade card swap, bc 5 cards + 5 envelopes = bigger than a standard envelope.

I tried to get a DC for a regular envelope going to Canada a month ago.  They said there wasn't such an option.

If you have no beads or brads, I would stick a stamp and send it that way too....

I apologise for not checking this swap thread more often and not making it clear in the introductory post. I agree that for small papercraft swaps where hte finnished items fit in a regular envelope that a DC# is not necessary. If you put them in a padded envelope and feel like paying for delivery confirmation go for it, however it is not required. if there are any 3-d elements or anything that sticks up more than a sticker I would strongly suggest telling the postal worker that it is Non-machineable.

From my understanding of swaps so far if a small envelope goes missing and there is no DC# then it is the senders responsibility to remake and resend.

It is send out day today!!!!!

Please make sure that you get your inchies mailed today and let Crafty Butterfly or I know when you have sent and also when you recieve.

Thanks

Also Re the DC. When i organise inchie swaps, I always say that No DC is required, BUT you are also required to replace the inchies if they get lost or damaged in the post.

Anyone one that was in the beginner's inchie swap - did you think this swap was a lot harder?

The whole not making the same type of inchie more than once was suuuuper hard. THOUGH, I like how it forced me to be more creative overall.

Thanks, organizers for this swap! :D

I completely agree. It was like trying to merge the individual inchie theme with your partner's themes three times each! It was fun, but it took me a lot longer than the beginner inchie swap.

Most packages take about 2 weeks from usa-aus or vice versa. I have loads of outstanding packages in both directions. And the post really does seem to be taking 2 weeks at the moment, I think it must be some wierd knock on effect from the Canadian postal strike.
