Title: 2nd attempt at duct tape purse
Post by: cheesepuff on June 03, 2005 12:53:39 PM
I just made this for some reason.  I think it turned out pretty neat.  I have no use for it really but oh well.   And does anyone have any good ideas on how to close it?  Right now those little black tape squares are my "snaps"   This pic makes it look sorta pink  but it is really red  and is filled with paint bottles.....

I don't know how to close it but that bow adds sass, I like!

Thanks  I made some more yellow bows like that I plan to attach to a pair of purple heels I have but I'm not sure yet

Totally cool - how did you color it - spray paint?

Maybe you could duct tape in a zipper...

I just used colored tape for it.  No painting required  and  the zipper idea might work  I'll have to test it.

OOO! That is SUCH a cuuute bag!

Maybe if you got Velcro for yours? That's what I'm thinking with mine, because the tape gets all grimy after a day or so at school.

I have some heavy duty stick on velcro I got for like 4 dollars or so at Jo Ann's and I use it on all my duct tape bags. It works really well :)

I have a problem with velcro being pulled off the tape easily... Maybe a few stitches to keep them in place?  Lately I've had luck with Wall Mart snaps, attached with hot glue.  I found them on clearance, and have been trying to scrounge up some more.
Nice bag, I love the bow.  My bags are very boxy (maybe cause I use cardboard... ::) ) but I like them like that.

You could hot glue a couple of snaps on there from a craft store.

Thanks for all of the suggestions!  I tried adding snaps to some scrap duct tape and it seems to work really well so I will try to find some red or black ones to add to it soon.

okie dokie  I shall share the super secret of bow making!  It is very simple.  First you just make a small square of duct tape fabric.  Then get a piece of black electrical tape (thats what i used but duct tape will work too)  and make a piece of that about 2 inches long and unsticky on both sides.  Then just pinch the center of the duct tape square to form a bow shape. Next wrap the electrical tape piece around it however tight you want it and then use a tiny piece of tape to secure it around the duct tape bow and thats it.  Then you can add them to the duct tape purse with some double sided tape.  If yall need more help just ask.  Im not very good at explaining sometimes.
