And of course the awesome handmade items...

All for my baby girl due in June:
3 soft blocks (really wanted some of these!)
An adorable, soft monkey print blanket (needed more blankets!)
A super cute owl pillow

I made some of those soft blocks for my son - you're going to love them... although he use(s) everything as a 'ball' (i.e. throws it, hits it with a bat or golf club, etc.) so anything squishy was always welcome.   ;D

Great package!

Ok, so here is the awesomeness that I received!!

First of all, my stalker made things right off my list of 5, which is doubly awesome!

The amazing bag:

Look at how beautifully she does zippers!  Oh yeah, it's actually TWO zippers, so they meet in the middle!

The bottom/side, just cuz it awesome!

Matching keyfob:

Can this even get any better?  Sure it can!  Matching wallet!

AND freaking adorable makeup bag!!

Then there's a cute card, HP silly bands, lemonheads (LOVE) and a fantastic dark chocolate/cherry bar - I already asked where to buy more as it's decadent!

"Who sent all this amazing and wonderful stuff?", you ask?  Why it was....

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

For anyone looking for the candy:  I got the chocolate bar at Target.  I don't think it's a brand specific to them (although I may be wrong), but it's the only place I found it.  Apparently, my city doesn't carry many fruit\chocolate blends (on a side note, I looked all over for the chocolate oranges and NEVER found any - do they still make them?).

Title: Re: Crafty Detective Round 7
Post by: goktrose on April 08, 2011 08:16:10 AM
Walgreens had the chocolate oranges when I was last there!

SevsOnlyGirl: Everything is gorgeous, I especially like the bag!
Is the inside of the makeup bag fuzzy, because it looks fuzzy?

I received from Teffy!
first up is the journal she hand bound. It has nice thick pages that I can paint on (or more likely collage on) I need to get into journaling more, so I needed it!

next is a group picture of the covered crochet hook (with a dragon tail!) and 2 friendship bracelets.  I am so happy that I have a bracelet to wear that won't cause a skin reaction!

last (but not least) are the tons of extras that she included!

from L to R: A crafters companion book, coca body butter, stickers for my son, a nice jingly hipscarf (should get me back to practicing my belly dancing!), a great pattern that includes skirt, dress, pants and a jacket!! and it will fit me!! A yummy car scent, that I LOVE (you are right is smells AWESOME!), And tinkerbell goodies (a scarf, 2 light up pens, and a book mark!)
Thank You TEFFY!

Wow, guys, thanks for the comments on the mini tree quilt. I do have a full picture. Like I told bugaboo, it's shaped kind of funky half on purpose to give it the windy affect and half on accident as it gave the affect more than I was planning on it...haha.

Holy moly.  I felt like a kid on Christmas finding this GIGANTIC box on my doorstep today!

Inside....PAPER! haha

..and LOTS of fabulous goodies

This hoop is my favorite thing of all!  HoneyD stitched an image of Alice in Wonderland on one of her grandmother's handkerchiefs.  I love it!

HANDSPUN YARN!

Wristwarmers (fetching from knitty), mini mug rug, COOKIES, some super awesome natalie dee notecards, and heart-shaped buttons (forgot to take a picture of those)

A drop-spindle kit with a TON of pretty fiber!

I love everything!  Thank you so very much HoneyD!  <3

I finally got my package out the door (yeah, the one that i said was done well before April 1st) Now i can finally check out the gallery without feeling guilt over not sending yet. Now I have the guilt because the stuff i sent isn't nearly as nice as what has been received.

So much to comment on! I love the owl mom2em received!

I have some serious envy over Sevsonlygirl's bags especially the one in the fabric with pirate skulls wearing hair bows.

I wanna see Valsped model the jingly hip scarf!

The quilt is amazing - If handmade doesn't come out just a smidge funky, how is anyone to know it is handmade?

I love the Alice hoop. It is so pretty with the handkerchief background.

I received today from......Bakeneko!!!

Thank you so much. She definantly picked up the fact I'm obsessed with dead trees (which is why I'm starting my tree swap the end of the month :))

First off is the small. I think I'll hang it on my wall. It's a great tree poem and she printed the tree fabric on her printer.

In case you can't read the poem:
The Dead Tree
My life is a dead tree;
Spring is a mockery to it;
But in the winter is shall bear the snows
And rear aloft its stark and hopeless branches
As braverly as another.

Thomas E. Moore

Next is the medium. A wall hanging of a felted tree shadow. This is definantly going on my wall, probably next to the tree poem :)

The large is an etched copper necklace of a turtle. I have no idea how you would even do that! It's really cool.

and a close up of the detail

and then the extras. A great tree leather necklace and some extra printed fabric she wasn't sure what to do with. I think I'll frame them and start a tree wall or something :)

Thank you so much, I really appreciate everything.

This swap was so much fun. My stalkee received and now I received, it's weird to think this swap is now over for me  :-\ Good thing there's an exciting gallery to keep watching!!!

i received yesterday! I received from madmommymia and she was totally who I guessed! I think it was because everyone else gave clues on pets or kids and I don't have either! I realize that I had a lot of other options of people that weren't giving clues, but of the people giving clues, she was my guess!

onto the contents! I got such wonderful things!

starburst - because I'm obsessed with them.  I have already consumed this entire package :(

3 balls of tshirt yarn! I got some in the OWS last round and now I need more so I can make a rug.  I love it so much!

a purse organizer.  I love the colors! And so many pockets! I switch bags all the time, and this will be great to make sure I have all the essentials.

its SOAP with a stapler inside! Just like Jim did with Dwight's stapler in Jello in teh office.

and she made me a needlework binder! Its so awesome.  the front has like, all of my favorite things

and inside are pockets for hoops and floss and a pocket to keep needles in that says to Boldly Sew haha!
(https://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=446991) (https://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=446992) (https://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=446993)
(https://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=447264) (https://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=447265)

AND there's more!
she made this Dwight notebook that makes me laugh

And finally Chocolate sugar scrub. This smells so good!! I am going to use it tonight when i take a shower.

thank you so much madmommymia!! I hope my stalkee likes what I made too.  I think i will be sending on Saturday.  by the time I get home tomorrow the post office will probably be closed like it was today.

Title: Re: Crafty Detective Round 7
Post by: VegasZombie on April 16, 2011 10:13:41 AM
The mystery package was indeed full of crafty goodness (there was some speculation as to whom it was from).

First up, a loverly trio of items that are completely me. Small felted voodoo doll earrings complete with pins, a voodoo doll key chain and a fetching blood splattered I <3 Zombies mug!  I have the perfect outfit for the earrings and the mug will go to work with me.

Then there was this awesome, and I do mean awesome, brain locket. I was just telling someone the other day that I needed one of these. But the best part? When you pop it open there are itty bitty zombies inside!

And last, but certainly not least a necktie purse! The color rocks, the ties rock, the whole thing just rocks. Plus, the strap is long enough for me to sling it.

My swap partner, by the way, was none other than Xandrigirly! I would never have guessed that, but then again I wasn't trying too hard to figure it out. More mental notes on who I know it wasn't.  :D

Thank you soooooooo much Xandrigirly!!! Every last thing is filled with awesome!!

It is so fun to see all the hints come to light and also see things and go "aaaahhhh, now that one question makes sense!"  :D
I came home from shopping early to see a Priority Mail box on my couch which had me squeeling before I got the front door shut.  The squeeling didn't stop there, I can assure you!  Are you ready?  Are you ready for some surius spoilage?

A reusable Joann's bag (I drool over this particular bag at the store all the time!), hand poured Basil & Herb soy candles, a spicy looking paperback, a Church's Collection of Recipes Book (I find this SO thoughtful & useful!), a great purse, 2 photo printouts of a beautiful Sheep photo (one framed one not) straight from my Pinterest and will go sit near my yarn, another photo print of a favorite picture and quote "A book in my hand and a dog by my side... ... We belong together" also from my pinterest

a tote bag with another Pinterested joke, and it made me laugh hysterically when I walked my husband through saying it out loud and hearing what it said.  Then there's also some local coffee - YUM.  There's also a better shot of my great purse...

A pillow case that is made to fit a particular, easy to get pillow form from walmart.  This too is inspired by a pillow from either my wist or pinterest... maybe both!  LOVE

Hang in there with me, THERE'S STILL MORE!!!!!

a a hanging dishtowl, it has ties to it won't fall off (like mine alllllllways do).  This is going to be so useful & I love the colors & leafiness!

a set of glasses with the Alliance lion etched on and double stripes going around.  So well done and I just love the style of glasses she chose.  And best of all, they got here safely with no breaks!

Ok, finally, my most favorite part of my package... a reversible apron!!!!!!!!!!  I love love love love it!  And it fits perfect and the ties are nice and long and... well... it makes me feel cute  ::)  See?!

Polky-dotted side

and the ties, with a glimpse of the diamondy side

And who is responsible for all of this spoilage?

Why, it's the incredibly talented Hockamama!  Thank you so much.  Sincerely.  This was such a thoughtful package  :-*

I received from Slovakiasteph Thursday but have not been able to upload pictures to craftster. I used foxfire and it worked today so here is the awesomeness.

A pillow that matches my cat

A sweet hat to wear in the cold

I have totally been wearing this around the house
Totoro spoon rest and Jelly fish pal.

The inside of the sweet panda bag. It is totally going with me to the Humane Society’s Furball tonight.

And the back

Thanks so much Slovakiasteph you are such a good secret swap partner!

In a bucket of acid in my basement like a creeper.  I am glad you liked everything. I was working down to the last minute on the necklace I needed it to get warm enough for the acid to etch.  It was fun crafting for you but my husband wanted to know why it was all dead trees.  :)

Does anyone else think that siamese cat pillow looks like the cats from Our Animal Friends at Maple Hill Farm?  (One of my favorite picture books..."Willow is very pretty, but she is not very interesting.")  :D

I got the MOST AWESOME package today! I came home from a looong day out with two extra kids (for those who don't know, I have 5 of my own!) to find a box hiding at my front door! It instantly brought my momentum right back up!! Here are my goodies!

I opened to find cute little packages neatly waiting to be TORN INTO!! So, I complied!

First, something for the kids! Without knowing my stalker matched it to their bathroom perfectly!

She MUST have a second sense or something for color matching, because I opened the next package that was labeled for hubby and I to find these:

I took all the pics on my bed, and you can see that, again, without knowing, she matched my sheets PERFECTLY with these pillowcases! They say: "So fall asleep love, loved by me for I know love, I am loved by thee." I LOOOVE them!

Next up: CUTE crocheted bangles (which I have had on my wists forevvvver!)

Aren't they cute?!!? BTW stalker, I don't wanna share .. all mine!! :D

Next I opened these AWESOME wool bowls!! I adore these soooooo much!

One is red, grey and cream, then a solid grey and a solid cream! They are right at home in my kitchen already! LOVE them!

Then I opened this adorable frame, decorated to match my youngest girls Mickey & Minnie themed room ... love it, and to top it off my stalker sent all those stickers and papers so I can add more to it and use them for other stuff too!!

She even spoiled me with some extra ribbons to match the girls room!!

Here's all my loot together! Don't miss the awesome pillowcases in there, they blend right in with my bedsheets!! :)

Sorry it's a bit blurry ..

OH and maybe you guys wanna know who my stalker was?!

These are all the notes that were on my pressies ... look at the circled letters! Yup, it's Valsped ... I guessed right! Thank you sooo much Valsped I LOVE all of our goodies!

I love those pillowcases! The font is one of my favorites! What a great package!

I'm really glad you lilked the goodies BSONLYTOOTS! I was really worried! I had some issues with blocking the bowls (as I'm sure you can see) but if you throw them in the washer again then dry them how you want them (stretched or as is) they should sit better. I wanted to let them air dry, but we don't have a machine and by the time I want to a friends to felt them (on 2 different days) they wouldn't have been dry enough to send (since they are pretty dense wool and it has been super rainy here lately).
I'm really not psychic, you just left great notes on your color preferences on your wists! If the roll is difficult to remove from the cozy, you can pull out the center cardboard and make it a 'center pull roll' then the kids won't have to take it out at all.
It's cool that you figured out who I was from my clues, but it wasn't till close to the end! I thought you probably knew it was me (from your post) but of course I couldn't ruin the final bit of suspense for you!
Enjoy your goodies! (and of course you don't have to share your bracelets!)

I got my package today. Yipee! First of all the box was giant! I didn't take a picture, but it was a really large box. Apparently it had to be because there were tons of items inside.

This cute bag with really cool details in the sewing and lots of pockets. I didn't get a picture of the sides, but they are tied and can be loosened to make the bag bigger.

Some extras. Snacks that I am supposed to share with my family, but we will see if that happens. Also small figures that will go to work with me.

Crocheted wrist warmers that I can dye myself.

A handcrafted fairy door. I have been wanting one forever. My stalker must have known how much I love trees. The design is perfect.

More extras! Beads with beading string and a notepad entitled "paper email." I use notes at work like crazy, they are all over my office.

An owl plushie. I said that I really admire people who can make plushies and now I have my very own. They buttons on the eyes are really cool looking in person.

I listed Harry Potter crafts as something I liked and now I have my own Gryffindor box with quidditch cards I can use for future paper crafts.

I specifically asked for something to help me keep track of my ideas and inspiration for crafts. My stalker upcycled an old book and turned it into a binder. She custom designed the sections to the crafts that I do. She also gave me some awesome paper cutouts. I think they are vintage. I love doing paper crafts and collages so I will definitely find a use for them.

Resin bottle cap magnets and a resin gnome key chain made from...wait for it...a SPOON! How clever is that? I collect magnets, so these are definitely new and distinct. Here is a close up of my little gnome.

A dachshund shirt. An arrow straight to my dachshund-lovin' heart. She used some different techniques, such as bleach pen and dye resist. She actually had a funny pun that she wanted to put on the shirt, but she didn't want to offend me. Turns out it wasn't that bad..."My wiener is huge in Japan."  :P

These may be my most favorite items. Two amazing necklaces and an acrylic ring. I have been wanting a red chunky bead necklace forever and the blue necklace has been on my wist, as well. She used swarovski crystals, which I think are so subtle and beautiful. I wanted to take a picture of me wearing the necklaces, because I really love them so much. But it's hard to take a good picture of yourself with no one home and without busting out the tripod. So here's me in the infinity necklace and close up of the ring (don't mind that my hand looks really old close up).

Last, but certainly not least. Of all these things I listed, I was really hoping I would get one of these...a new knitting needle roll. I tried to show both fabrics and the beautiful ribbon that was used. As you can see, my knitting needles have already moved in. It's beautifully made.

So, my stalker gave me a mathematical word problem to figure out who she is.

Drumroll please....

I just don't know how to say thank you enough for being such a wonderful swap partner.

You have brought a smile to my face several time during this swap, firstly with your message to the organizers giving me a "hall pass" (so to speak) on answering all the additional questions that had been posted in the thread. It was so appreciated, after the surgery I was constantly tired and forgetting to log on, or even get on the computer. So that was very much appreciated :)

Then there where the 2 postcards from the US, which where wonderful.

But I got your parcel and I was in ore of each item.

At the top of the box, a lovely black and pink ruffle skirt for my daughter :) she LOVES IT...

Then there was these pillows, long have these been on my Wist list, I stuffed them and sewed up the hems as I wanted everyone to see how awesome they look on my lounge (only my son has fallen asleep on the 3 seater so they are overtaking one of the lazy boys at the moment)

and those pillow cases are lovely
such a clever idea with the book into a folder

NatACT-- I'm so glad you liked everything!  I was thinking the mario hat would be for your older son, but I'm guessing he's a bit hard to craft for?  The ruffly skirt was pretty exciting, since it involved getting a ruffle foot and figuring out first how to use it, and then how much tulle went into extra fluffy ruffles (hint: it's a lot.  No, more than that... which is why there are two different colors of pink.) But it was something I'd been wanting to play with for a while, so it was great to have an excuse to get around to it.  :)

I was so lucky to receive today.  My lovely stalker sent things that made my kids squeal.  That is HUGE in my book!

The whole lot -- pardon the crappy pix!

Stuff for my son.  Star Wars goodies!  An awesome mirror for his wall, magnets and trading cards.  He is so happy!

Stuff for Miss Olivia, my middle child.  She is a ballerina and starts preprofessional classes next year.  She is also obsessed with hello kitty!  I plan on hooping and embroidering the bag so no one takes it at ballet classes.

My stalker sent some awesome Disney goodies.  We just booked our trip, so these are fabulous!  Headbands:

Harper has been eyeing up Olivia and my poppets.  So now she has her own punkin!!

My favorite?  My brand new spindle.  It's handmade from poly clay! And in my favorite color--lime green!

There were other awesome goodies like scrapbooking stickers and a Disney planning book.  I am just so thrilled.  Who do I have to thank for this box of awesomeness?

OLLIEORANGE

I received today and apparently was very spoiled. My dad called and said I had TWO packages from the same person and that one was a box that was 4 feet high/long... I am so excited to get it...on Thursday when I go home for Easter. I just wanted to let my stalker know that it did arrive safe and sound, and I appreciate your patience (and my own). I put my parents' address because I didn't know if I would be receiving from an international swapper and didn't want the package to get here after I moved out in a few weeks (just in case).

I got home from work today and found a wonderful package on my porch!!! And what was inside you ask?

First is this cute little scrabble tile charm

Then she sent a notebook for each of my children...I want to start writing letters to each of them individually. These are perfect!

Then...personalized shot glasses etched with daisies!

Then I found a bag...with a bag inside...with a tampon holder inside...with a tissue holder inside of that!!! FANTASTIC!

And here is a group shot including the truffles she sent..but minus the skittles...the family gobbled them up before I could even finish taking the photos!

And who was the lovely crafter of this package you ask? None other than preg_replace('/(.{49})/', '$1 ', '.......DRUMROLL.....................................................')

AVERIA!!! Thank you girl! Your sewing skills ROCK! You totally spoiled me :) Thanks for doing such a great job stalking me!

Today must be a hot day for receiving - I got a package too - from the fabulous MareMare - and I had no clue who was my stalker - I actually thought it was someone else but it wasn't.

Here's a group shop of everything... in my messy living room.

Buster standing guard.. or staking a claim.  He loves when I make him things.  He's a silly dog I know...

Baskets!  I love baskets!  And it's funny - I was considering making my stalkee the same styled one but ended up doing something different... and I really needed and wanted baskets so I'm really stoked!

fabric in lots of different prints and colors - I am always able to find uses for fabric!  I have to say the mushroom fabric is my favorite which is funny since I love cute mushrooms but I can't eat one to save myself.

Reusable produce bags - two pairs in two different sizes.  I keep saying that I'm going to make them and I never do... I can now officially cross them off my 2011 to do list - and they are going to the store with me tomorrow  :)

Template sheets for quilting and goldfish in a bag soaps.  Collin is totally intrigued by these - Logan hasn't seen them yet :D  I'm going to surprise him at bath time and put it in the bathroom lol.    The dark chocolate Rochers are gone now  ;D mmm... They are my absolute favorite!

And just because we crafters look for every excuse to throw in pictures of our pets.. Buster again - rolling all over the fabric.  He's such a turkey.  I have to say I love my new camera.  He doesn't have evil glowing eyes in the pictures!  How cool is that?  I really like this new camera.  I'm sad that my old one kicked it but this one I'm quite happy with it - too bad it takes AA's and they don't last long - but it's mainly for my website so I can live off of rechargeables.  :)

I feel totally spoiled.  I can't pick a favorite and everything is so well made.  If ever you get paired up with MareMare in a swap, she's awesome!

Oh - funny true story about my package...
Everything was wrapped in this really pretty gold paper and one of the items had a piece of paper on it that said Look on the Bottom of the box... mind you, I was unloading the box and this was on the first thing in it .... so I pick up the box, hold it over my head and I'm looking on the bottom of it... Yeah, I'm a dork.  It was on the inside bottom of the box lol.

I have to also say that MareMare either used a hand made card or made it herself - it's so pretty and so me.  I'm a tree hugger I know.  So pretty  :)

The package from MareMare is one of my favorites.  I need those reusable produce bags and I love each and every fabric.  I also really want a great tampon/pad holder like that.

I wish I could pick a couple of things from everyone's package... wouldn't that be the coolest "shopping" spree ever?

Tracking says my partner received today.  I feel a little bummed because I just couldn't seem to find time to spoil my partner ( with Mom and hubby having surgery ) but I hope she really likes the things I did make.

And the person that I think is my stalker may still be my stalker!  I may have actually figured it out this time!

I so glad you like everything Yarn or Fabric! The card was made for me in a notecard swap I organized recently, and it actually features paper that is in the same line as one of my fave fabrics (Sultry by Basic Grey for Moda), but she didn't know that when she made it!

I love the puppers! Buster is adorable, I was going to find a poodle pattern to make a paper pieced poodle square but just had too many ideas.

ETA: If anyone makes the basket tutorial by Pink Penguin and increases the size like I did, you probably want to interface the handles. On the tiny basket it doesn't need it but I wasn't thrilled that the handles were a smidge floppy on the bigger one. I might write a tute up since I already did all the math to increase the size  on the baskets.

I received today! I was soooo excited to see a package waiting for me when I got home. Before I reveal my super awesome stalker, let's see the goodies!

My stalker focused on my love of all things owl for this swap. She started off with a great little tote bag, a zippered pouch with an owl charm (perfect for knitting accessories while traveling), a tissue holder (also great for planes, yay!), some super cute socks and my absolute fave: an owl stock stuffy!! Isn't she adorable?

She also sent me some great candy from the UK -- which I mention now because I'm currently munching on some of the gummies! Om nom nom.

Next we have some amazing jewelry. I can't believe how many pieces of jewelry my generous swapper made! I love all of the pieces made from buttons -- I have a lot of button items on my wists. Clockwise from top left: button bracelet, long button necklace, bottlecap pendant, owl button ring, stitch markers (so pretty!), a gorgeous gray and black bracelet that I absolutely love, and a beautiful silver bracelet as well.

I had to include a closeup of the great owl button ring. :) It is so fun and funky!

And now for the big reveal.... drumroll, please! My stalker was pinkmichk!
Thank you so much for everything, Michelle!!

My package arrived a few days ago!  First I need to thank my partner for the awesome stuff she sent and next for being so patient in my posting.  My Mom who is 82 fell Sunday around 12:15 and broke her femur in her right leg.  She was sent to ER in Houston and I was in there until very late.  They did surgery today and placed a metal rod in her leg, no cast this is what it takes.  You see 3 years ago she did the same thing to her left leg.  Just got home she is doing well. They expect her to stay there 3 days then be transfered to Baytown rehab for 3 weeks or so.

SaralaAnne was the person who was stalking me!!!!  She did some major spoilage and I love everything!

She has some awesome crochet skills and here is the proof!  1st a pale yellow crocheted market bag!   I love this and can only imagine the time she put into this.  One craft I am not very good at.  The color and style is perfect.

Next she made me this adorable Fish!  She called him a muddy mudslipper ( hence from Ren & Stimpy)   He reminds me of a catfish!   This is the main fish we catch at the lake.  He will travel to our trailer at the lake and have a nice new home.  The colors are so fun and so me.  He is so big, soft and colorful!  Love his lips fins tail eyes the whole shebang!

This is the most perfect scarf!   I work for a school district in the transportation department and have seen these scarfs as pencils and always wanted a pencil scarf, until wa la  the most perfect scarf on earth!

A school bus!   Just look at the size of this bus!  Even thought it is near breaking record temps here I may just wear it to work one day since we do have ac in the office!!!!  thank you again for all the wonder crocheted items!!!

SaralaAnne also spent more time making me this wonderful crossstitch which also holds a picture.  This too will be taken to the lake and I will find the perfect picture to fill the photo slot!   Prefect.

Next up, yes there is more!!!!  A cute handpainted porcelain box headed to the lake to keep my necklace in at night!  A wonderful lure that hopefully will catch some big white bass, a cool bookmark!  It is waves of water and a cute fish.  I love to read at night before going to sleep while at the lake so this is headed there too!!!! and a cut frog applique!

Now if you remember way back when we first began I received a small starter package from my stalker!   Bad me never got the picture posted as promised so here it is!   Some adorable frog buttons!!!!

OOpss!  So sorry, here is where you must stand on your head to see them correctly!  To tired to redo!!! Off to shower and then bed 4 am comes early!

SaralaAnne again thank you so much for being such a wonderful stalker, my package was so perfect!!!!

Such cool packages-I keep meaning to make produce bags too...I got packages yesterday-but none from my stalker.  I have to say it made me a little less excited about such a good mail day since I guess I really really want the package from this swap.

SaralaAnne - I think I recognize that fish there.... what pattern did you use....   ;D

This is an awesome gallery.  I am really enjoying this!
I'm really getting irked by the postal system here.  I KNOW better than to go to the satellite office to do a drop off. They never scan the stuff in.  I feel so helpless!  I love tracking and there is no tracking info it's driving me absolutely bonkers!

Rest assured, though, it was a great package :)

I received! I received! I received!

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Warning: I was MAJORLY spoiled!!!

So this is what I came home to today:

And after the day I had, I was super super psyched! Now onto the spoiledness...

I opened box #1 first, which had the note with the reveal in it but said I couldn't peek until after and some awesome paperbacks!

The dog book has all kinds of awesome tips on grooming, dressing, and some all in all good heath tips like dieting and how and when it's best to exercise your pooch in the summer, ect. Not to mention the pictures are adorable! And the novels look amazing! There's Stardust by Neil Gaiman (I didn't even know it was a book! But it'll give me the excuse to watch the movie after ;)), The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood (I haven't read anything of hers, but my mom loves her stuff and we have a lot of the same tastes so I bet I'll love it), and the first two books of The Sign of the Zodiac series by Vicki Pettersson; The Scent of Shadows and The Taste of Night (I haven't heard of these before, but they look awesome! I'm a sucker for a strong female in novels!)

Next up was this super cute painted Kermit shirt, which fits perfect!

I love the metallic paint on his mouth and frill :)

And a ducky plaque for in my bathroom!

That's actually the same shade of blue on our trim :)

And some Dice jewelry from my wist!

The colors are so fun and summery!

Then there is this amazing record clock from my wist!

The album is signed but I can't tell who by (W-something Peterson lol) and is an oldies album. I adore 60's music! (Oldies and metal. I know, I'm odd lol) Janis Joplin, Sonny and Cher, The Turtles, Ohio Express, The Lemon Pipers, The Who, and Tommy James, amung others!

Some cute extras:

A journal with a fairy and butterfiles and a tag that says "Ah, there you are!" and a cute little chocolate cupcake lip balm that smells amazing!

And onto the next box. I told you I was spoiled ;)

Box #2 floored me! It was all one big glorious...Soap kit!!! With...

...Molds...

There are pumpkins, skulls, Christmas trees, bells, snowmen, Hello Kitty, and some cute little monsters!

...9 bottles of colorant...

Two yellows, gold, wine, turquoise, lime, red, and blue!

...5 scents...

Pomegranate, Rose, Nag Champa, Peppermint Ice, and Toasted Marshmallow! The Marshmallow one smells amazing! (Really they all do :)))

...Additives...

Comfry, Peppermint, Rose Petals, Coffee, and Alfalfa. I'll have to hide the coffee from the hubster, and the alfalfa from the bunny :P

...and last but not least, a 2 POUND brick of Melt and Pour White Glycerin Soap with instructions!

Thank you so much, SevsOnlyGirl!! Everything is so amazing! LoL. I looked at my list today and I actually had you as a "probably not" only going back through the clues they all fit me perfectly! Maybe I was just in denial that someone so awesome would be crafting for me :P

I received on Monday, but it took me a little while to post photos.  This post is gonna be image obese because my partner is just too awesome:

Here is all the lovely stuff I got all together:

She made me a wallet and a coin purse:

For my son's room - some unusual animal alphabet cards in the color of my son's nursery (I love the N is for Narwhal) and a multi-color starburst mirror (I might have a slight addiction to starburst mirrors)

A lovely bird box my partner painted and decoupaged:

And inside that box was dark chocolate covered sea salt caramels she HANDMADE from SCRATCH
They are phenomenal!  I wish I could give you all a taste.

A button ring:

AND she made me a floor poof!  She even put in a zipper so that I can wash it (which is important with the kiddos)

AND threw in some extras including head bands and an Elvis postcard (which will go smashingly in my Elvis themed bathroom).

Why who on earth could put together such a box of crafty-goodness?  Why haroldlovesmaude of course.  Thank you so much I LOVE everything!

So if you need me I'll be doing this:

And eating these:

I was totally wrong about who my partner was....my stalker of awesome was SMLounsburry!  She made so many wonderful things I was all smiles the rest of the evening and showing off the loot to my husband.  I love, loVE, LOVE everything!

Ok here we go

I first pulled out of the package she sent me this fantastic yarn wreath with singed felt flowers.
I am so in love with this i cant even tell you, I've been wanting one for a while!

Then I dug a little deeper and found this super cute Dala horse dish towel!

She also made me a little tea wallet in my favorite color combo red/black/white, I've also been wanting one of these forever!
We drink a lot of tea at work so this is perfect.

please excuse the cat hair...he's shedding as if the earth just got closer to the sun

THEN I also found fabulous hair curlers, I'm so excited to try them out for the first time, I have an interview tomorrow so I think im going to give them a try tonight.

And lastly a gift for my crazy hell-cat.  These went over really well, actually he was trying to dig through the now empty the box to get to them lol!  They're little baby socks tied in a knot...I'm not sure if there was cat nip in them?

Thank you so much SMLounsbury, this was an excellent swap package!

Hello everyone! I received Monday, but am just posting now, sorry for the wait! I definitely guessed my partner correctly, but you will have to look at the pictures first before I let you know who she was.

First. This wonderful  bag that combines mind love of hoarding bags, love of rebus puzzles, and love of psychology.
It's a Freudian Slip bag!!!

Next, a super punny tshirt, because everyone needs something with a math pun on it! My partner definitely recognized how much of a nerd I am!

Finally for crafted items, my partner stole my heart with this beautifully kawaii panda lunchbox, I really wanted an altered lunchbox, and she granted that wish fifty times over!
Look at the face and the pom pom ears!!!

She also filled the lunchbox with my favorite candy, Reese's cups!!!! Which are pretty much all gone! ::)

Now for some pretty extras!
She indulged my love of japanese erasers with a ton more to add to my collection!

And finally, Perler beads! I never got to own any before, but I've always wanted some! She gave me a little kit which made the fishy and the duckie that are at the top. As soon as I got it, I had to make them! Also, there's a perler bead idea book, giving me even more incentive to continue creating!

Who was my wonderful partner who spoiled me to pieces and really took time to stalk and personalize everything to me?
It was lindzyt!
She did an absolutely beautiful job, and everything is amazing, so thank you so much!!!

A little glow in the dark preying mantis thingy that you put together yourself

ETA: There was also some lavender oatmeal soap that seems to be missing from the picture.

Here's what I got from my stalker. I was spoiled indeed...

She got me a kit to learn to crochet and a Vogue Knitting magazine as well as some yarn and a couple of knitting needles:

A bag to keep my knitting projects in. It is so great! It has tons of pockets.. Practically everything is a pocket! Seriously! The "Knit" panel on the front is a pocket!

She sewed reusable snack bags (which are awesome because I take my lunch a lot and don't like throwing away plastic bags all the time.) They have velcro on the top so nothing can spill out! And I think the black part on the front was painted with chalk paint, so I can even label what's in them (great for road trips) or draw pictures on them. :)

Inside the bags were Mexican snacks! I can't wait to try them, especially the suckers, which are covered in chili powder. I think I'm going to try the lime salt on a margarita hehe.

I'm a Creative Writing student, but the next school year after I graduate, I'll be teaching math through Teach for America, and all my friends make fun of me for being a math teacher, so she made me this:

Oh, and remember that box? You want to know what was inside? Of course you do! It was this great painting with a quote from Kurt Vonnegut, one of my absolute favorite authors! I even just ordered his two newest books from Amazon this week.

And the lovely lady who made all of this was..............

Summer6061! Thank you! You were actually the second person I guessed, but I wasn't sure because you were really good at making clues that related to me but could also be someone else (like specific and vague at the same time). The one clue that threw me off a little was the "you aren't an only child." I'm not, but I wasn't sure how she'd know that. :)

So many nice things have traveled the usps in this swap.  I haven't seen anything I wouldn't want to have, but a few of my favs are the wonderful quilted turtle, the candy corn cannibals,  and that knit bag full of pockets.

Now I'll add my own great goodies to the gallery.  This post is pic heavy but that's only because the box was goodie heavy.

When the box arrived I wasn't home.  My daughter called to tell me our male cat was eating the box from the outside.  She had to hide it until I could get home.  Could there be kitty treats inside?

Yep!  Wonderfully catnippy pillows of fun for the kitties.  They have licked them, loved them, thrown them, fought over them, and sat on them.  Sorry no action shots, I was too busy enjoying watching them to take any.

Next, a ginormous pincushion.  I use my ping pong table to pin quilts and such, so this will be perfect for that large area.

I admit I had to ask my stalker what this next little pair was ( obviously having a slow day).  Once she told me it was a sundress and purse for my granddaughter's doll, I fell in love with it.  These will be in her Easter basket.

I was thrilled beyond thrilled with this next thing.  A big stack of large note cards!  I despise sending mass produced note cards, and I won't have to for quite a while now.  The first set is stamped and scrapbooked?.  The second set has actually photos!  I love them all!

Believe it or not, there's more.  This adorable taggy blanket!

At this point, I started combining things because I realize the amount of photos is pretty crazy.

A pretty decopauged box with a macrame' keychain and earrings inside.  A victorian looking little scrapbook/journal
and a tea wallet!

Three wonderful "old?" animal prints, a ton of cute scrapbook squares and tags, and a little packet of quilling pieces, a tiny snowman cross stitch kit, and "handmade by" tags.

And finally, the biggest tote bag you can imagine!  It is so big I had to fold it over, almost in half, to get the picture.  It has a big pocket on front.  I have tons of small/medium bags but I need large ones so badly.  I will use this practically every day of my life!

Everything is great and I appreciate it all so much!  I think I already gave it away in an earlier post, but just in case you didn't see it, drumroll please.......

  This awesome crafter is Mom2em!

( and btw, you have amazing taste in fabric)

I'll admit it.  I stalked my mailbox and today it finally paid off!   ;D  I was totally spoiled by my partner and she did a wonderful job creating a package for me!  Here's everything together:

There was a pair of wrist warmers and they are snuggly!  I hid these - I opened when my daughter wasn't around and she usually runs off with them.  2 reusable bags in a great skull print - I love that they tie together so they fit perfectly in my purse!  A cute bag full of bobbin tamers (to keep my bobbins from unwinding) - these are so perfect because my son find the loose end and unrolls them... like he's walking a dog around the house!  A cookbook chook to hold my books open while I'm cooking - you can't see it, but it even looks like a chicken which is exactly the theme in my kitchen!  There were also Sour Patch Kids and Sour Patch Kids jelly beans (there's not too much left of either!), leaf pins (I almost bought some of these last weekend for myself!), and nail polish like what was on my wists.

PLUS! There were two AWESOME fabric baskets.  A patchwork version (which my daughter has 'claimed' will help keep her room organized) and a personalized, embroidered one (so no one could claim it!  ;D )  I love the variegated threads she used and best of all - they have covered inserts that keep the bottom of the basket firm (brilliant idea)!

A fabulous Dwight tin filled with pins (the photo does not capture it's awesomeness)

And a great mini travel tote with crayons and a covered notebook for my son.  He loves it (as you can tell he's hugging it all)!

My partner revealed herself in a very fun way... puzzles!  My son and I sat down and worked them (alright, he made drawings of his hand and I worked the puzzles) and found that......

The very talented Yarn or Fabric was my partner!  Thank you so much for the great package - we loved it all!

I'm coveting this pins...What glue did you use to put the beads on?

Everyone is doing a great job of staking thier people it seems

Pretty much the whole package I sent were things I had never made before. I had never done any hexagon quilting. I had never done an embroidery project, and had never made any tree pendants. In fact the only jewelry I've ever made was a birds nest pendant. So the turtle is a bit wonky(gives character), the pink trees were my starter ones and the green is the one I think turned out the best. That was even the first plastic bag holder I've made...and the first time I've worked with elastic. I really enjoyed crafting for you princesspimp! I gained a ton of confidence in myself with this swap. It couldn't have been more fun!

goktrose you are a girl after my own punny heart.  :)  I had to make the lunch box!  Found the blank box and that's the first thing I thought of for you.  I discovered perler beads myself this year, though I swear I did them as a kid.  Everyone needs to try them at least once.  :D

So many amazing things showing up.  My wist list is growing by the post!  lol

I'm a novice sewer, but this was the first time I attempted to sew with piping. It was actually really easy, but it uses more thread.

suereal - I'm planning on working up a tutorial for the box/basket as well as the pins next week.  I took pictures along the way for both of them.  Hubby used Liquid Nails I believe.  I'll double check though.  He thought I was nuts when I asked him to make them for me but he's a trouper.  I think he kind of enjoyed it.

Thanks Yarn or Fabric!  I look forward to the tut.  And nice working getting your Hubby to "come over to the dark side".  Soon you'll have him knitting ;D..or even better!  Acting as a dress form (best not tell him I said that)

I've tried to talk him in to digitizing embroidery designs as well as helping me learn to use the quilting frame but he won't touch it.  He doesn't even want the kids to learn anything overly crafty.  I think he has some insecurities there lol.

Oh - here's a picture of the front of the patchwork box I did up for StacySews... I have a solo shot but I'm being lazy

ahh. even lazier.  I'm not going to delete the other picture..

And the pins...

and the Dwight tin.  It was one of my first Altoid tin alterations and I learned a lot along the way. I have a few tins here that just didn't make the cut.  This one I was not jumping for joy over it and I almost didn't send it.  The others I did with fabric and I didn't like them at all.  Fabric gets really hard and scratchy with mod podge although a few more coats might take care of that.. but then so would just chucking them....

the whole bunch

pieces of cold press soap; I've never had hand made soap before, I'm excited to try it!!

yummy chocolate and coffee

Cranberry cider jelly, it smells divine  ;D

a bag with saying from my wist, love this!

a hand stamped anniversary necklace.  She messaged my hubs on facebook to find out our anniversary date.  When he got home, I gave him a hard time about talking to other women on fb.  He said at first it was difficult to keep the secret, but as time went on, he forgot, which made it immensely easier.  I reckon age has it's advantages, yes?  ;)

and my ALL TIME FAVE, the grocery bag from my wist!!  I HEART this bag so much!!!!!

This was such a great swap, and I had such a fantastic partner!  Now that y'all envy my goodies, I'll tell you that my partner was blushingbluegrass.  Thank you SevsOnlyGirl for organizing such a funtabulous swap ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Aww so happy you liked everything! I will say that messaging your hubby was super awkward ("Hi, you don't know me, but....") and for days after I kept re-checking the message to make sure that I had told him it was a secret  :P

Note to self: work on packaging skills, as those baggies are super wrinkly now! Sorry bout that!

Are you ready for this awesomeness??

I received yesterday as well, and since my birthday was Thursday it was like a birthday present!!

My stalker got me so well, and made things that I absolutely love, and are so thoughtful!

First up, she found out that I love lounging in my hammock with an adult beverage by the fireplace in our backyard so these first two items are perfect!

Adult beverage cozies, modeled by my Falls City glass

Fire starters (soooo smart!!)

This is based off a dish scrubby on my wist, but it is too cute for dishes!

Straight off my wish list: crocheted (maybe?) slippers! LOVE LOVE LOVE

And last but so not least, is a piece of wall art straight from my wist:

The pics aren't the best but is supposed to rain for the next week, so I wanted to get them up now!

You might be asking who sent this amazing package.... It was none other than the FANTASTIC sugaree!! Thanks so much for everything. I loved it all!

So, um... I got my package on Monday, and then was out of town or running around like crazy all week.  Now I've finally got a chance to put my stalker out of her misery.  ;D

Here's the loot:

A pretty green picture frame painted with dandelion silhouettes (I love dandelions!):

Tea dye and painting-- a lovely weeping willow t-shirt, and a tote bag with "make tea, not war" on it:

And a fascinating handmade tea mug, with a neat combination of crackly finish and dark green glaze:

A hand-painted puzzle with a neat silhouette on it:

And (possibly my favorite) shrink plastic rings-- I am very impressed with anyone who can get shrink plastic to shape like this, since I know how short the working time is.

Two with more dandelions, and that says "tea is a cup of life"

And who made all this?

Thanks so much, karwash!  (and, um, sorry for taking so long to post!)

I recieved a wicked package from my stalker last week but with all the bank holidays, I haven't gotten a chance to post until now! Check out the awesomeness...

The whole package:

A really sweet painting that reminds me of my Sooty. (A black lab we lost last year.)

You can just see a "squeaky" cow in the picture - this has become our puppy's arch-nemisis. His mission in life is to pounce it. :)

Cow pats! Ha! :) And a pillow that was SUPPOSE to be for the kitties but has also been claimed by the puppy:

And reuseable sandwich bags that I've wanted FOREVER...

Lots of extra goodies for me, the hubby and our other dog:

That purse is beyond awesome and needs an action shot. It's so going to be my library bag. :)

Purple is definitely my favourite colour right now. I love this purple scarf:

And there's a purple stamp pad with alphabet stamps!

Finally, a cow (because I'm obsessed) and a hint for who my stalker was:

Thanks so much!! Everything was fab! :)

I think it is Feline2001, I guessed straight away because she was my stalkee :)

Crossing names off my list now and I'm left with 18 possibilities (still a lot!)  I have a feeling I know who it is though...(Still no package so I'm guessing my partner's not in the UK...:))

Title: Re: Crafty Detective Round 7
Post by: sloth003 on April 26, 2011 03:37:38 PM
one more name to strike off ladies. but first the overload of pictures. cause i was ROYALLY spoiled.

ohhh pretty!

my stalker revealed herself with letters.  one per package. a more patient person would have taken pretty in progress pics but it was more like a kid at christmas this afternoon... ( the tissue is still under the table  ;D)

i did wait to open the big one til last.
but here he is! pillow sloth with velcro arms and legs. (and yes he is hugging me RIGHT now)

up next sewing supplies fat quarters a seam ripper and a turtle... how does a turtle help sew?  inside his shell lives a tape measure. (and the bot thought i was a wizard when i pulled out the tape so thanks  :)

12 hand stamped slothy cards and and and .... the stamp!!! when next in canada and you see tiny sloths stamped to everything.  you will know i have been there)

huh what.  rope?  ( that was the bot’s reaction...) but i knew it was an awesome cozy for my earphones!

these are so beautiful and they fit perfectly! (often a problem.. small hands and wrists)

this is a terrible picture of a beautiful shawl, the colours are muted, the patterns are lovely. and i am wearing it now.   :D  (yes with the sloth. don’t judge)

you would think that would be it eh?

yeah you’d think so but you’d be wrong.

for my hoop wall. it makes me laugh.

and for my hips. munchies!

whew.  still here. well here’s what i neded up with at the end.

thank you so very much obieexob.  :D

i only hope my stalkee is half as happy as i am right now.

Alright, camera found and pics taken.  Let the oohing begin!  :)  Be forewarned, big pic heavy post here.

Ok dear partner, you were on the narrowed down list but I have to admit I didn't guess.  It seems we share a habitual lateness in life.  My mom likes to joke that I was even born late!  lol  Still, no worries.  This box made the wait totally worth it.

I almost didn't go to the post office today, just got off work after a very long day where Murphy's Law was in full glory today.  Decided to stop anyway where I found this waiting for me

All the stickers are great!  This one has to be my favorite though  :)

It was all I could do not to open it in the car.  Had to be patient, something like this needs time to go through.  :)
Finally get home and open it up to find a ton of goodies

(I'll get to the "boring" package in a moment)

Start opening and let the squees begin!  I must have known something subconsciously - at work (I work at the local zoo, today I was in the IMAX theater) I had a chance to watch one of our movies.  I watched "Alaska"
This is what I opened first in this box of lovelies

Inside the envelope with "the world's least impressive drawing of a peacock" (which I rather liked actually  lol) are a little clue.  Some awesome postcards from my partner's state: Alaska!

Another small package.  Magnets to add to the collection on my fridge.

I love these.  I've been wanting to travel up there for years now, ever since my grandparents went the first time.  They loved it there and their stories were so vivid, I want to see it for myself.  :)

Plus a few extra goodies.
A Pez rubber duck (love! the candy and the duck!), a bird mobile to make, and most importantly a purple sketchbook!  Just the right size to stick in my purse.

Then on to the larger packages.

First some napkins for my table.  I have a vintage 50's table with chrome and a black top with white swirls.  These will go perfect on it, just the right touch!  I love jewel tones, especially purple and deep reds.  :)  Each one has a unique pattern in tiny beads.  A little sparkle for the table.  :)

Next - a pillow for my couch.  Beautiful embroidery of an octopus.  Again my partner got it all just right.  There was some serious squeeing when I opened it.  The whole octopus is deep red, for some reason the pic makes it look pink, on a brown plaid.  I love embroidery though it totally escapes me, so I admire anyone who has a talent for it.  :)

And the best part of this whole package?  Harold!!!!!
One of my all time favorite books is Harold and the Purple Crayon.  I still have my copy from when I was a kid.  Plus she added my favorite quote!  LOVE LOVE LOVE  This is going up on the living room wall where everyone can see  :D

The "boring" package is the glass for the frame.  This is beyond awesome!

Everything unwrapped and piled together

This was such a great swap.  I would love to do another round!

My awesome, talented partner is none other than...

S is for Summer

I love everything!  Thank you so much for making a great package!
I hope school is going well.  If your schedule is anything like mine you're probably dealing with finals about now.  Good luck!

:D

Yay!!! It made it!  I'm so glad you liked everything!  I felt so terrible about mailing late that I had a nightmare last night that it never got to you, and instead wound up somewhere in Africa.  x)

Out of curiosity, did the glass for the picture frame survive the trip?  I didn't hold great hope as I had no idea how to package it, but some part of me is morbidly curious.  It's a little like Will It Blend... Did It Break? ;)

It is indeed finals week here, too.  I'll definitely be glad when it's done!

i received an absolutely wonderful and exceedingly thoughtful package over the weekend.
please grab a comfy seat and a mug of coffee, and delight in these photos with me.  there will be alot.  fair warning.   ;)

i was seriously spoiled!!  my stalker even picked up some goodies for me on her vacation to England.  how lucky am i?

the first thing i opened was this lovely cigar box, featuring romeo y julieta.  love it!

and inside is a world of lovely whimsies & ephemera

(pretty papers with lots of birds, nature, & patterns, old postcards - one even has writing on it!, panda magnets, panda tissues, a mini jar full of delicate shells & a completely rusted bottle cap that i adore, tons of foreign stamps, train tickets, russian nesting dolls, and packets of seeds)

gratuitous photo of the nesting dolls because they're so gorgeous - the smallest one is super tiny.  my favorite!

and there were also some handmade things in the box too!

some almost-too-pretty-to-use plant markers

and some perfect amelie magnets

next i found these wonderful planting pots (that are too darn pretty to fill with dirt - i'm going to turn them into hanging lanterns for the backyard instead)  :)

what's in these beautifully wrapped packages you ask?

gorgeous jewelry!

a very pretty bracelet

a beautiful robin's egg necklace with pretty whimsies trapped inside

(back)

(front)

some much loved and appreciated extras:

my favorite (vegetarian) roasted chicken chips from the UK (!!!)
some gorgeous and soft yarn from the UK (!!!)
and a belt that is completely and absolutely just my style.

and who could have sent me such a delightful, whimsical, lovely package??

hoooray! I'm so glad you liked everything Sugaree! It was so much fun creating for you because we have such similar tastes....though I had to resist the urge to claim everything I made  ;)

Now, round 2!!!!! This was too fun!

Also, I received from my AMAZING stalker a couple weeks ago (ack, I know, I'm terrible) and I will be posting pictures this evening. Seriously, I don't know what I did to get such an amazing partner...just wait til you see what she made for me.

Yay!!!

And if you ever might make it to Alaska, keep my contact info.  :)  It would be pretty darned cool to get to meet one of my swap partners. :)

Summer

Don't worry about sending late, that's usually what ends up happening to me.  We really do share a perpetual lateness!  lol

The glass did survive  :)  I put it in the frame after taking pics.  Packed very nicely.  I always worry about sending glass, there's just no good way to pack it really.

I always plan at least one big trip a year.  Might just have to make it up to Alaska next summer!  Guaranteed you'd have a big hug coming.  :D

thank you so much again!  You did an incredible job.  :D

Sorry I am so late on posting, our house was unexpectedly turned around computer wise while redoing the office. Long story short, I am glad to have a predictable computer working again.
Here is my most amazing package from bsonlytoots!

First off slippers for my boys: here is an action shot of my oldest, along with baby booties for my youngest:

Then there was an embroidery organizer for all my needlework stuff-so excited!

Next comes these awesome kanzashi flowers which I plan to hotglue on to barrettes

And a notepad holder with some notecards in it, although I have already added quite a few of my notecards that I had spread everywhere and was so excited to get them a home!

Thanks so much for everything, I had a great time opening everything and was so very excited.  It has been a rough few weeks for my family for lots of reasons and I really really really needed some happy moments. You rock bsonlytoots!

All I can say is WOW.  This gallery is amazing.  I don't really do embroidery, but I love the embroidery kit.  So nifty!

I feel bad not keeping up more with the gallery or getting my pics posted yet, but I should have them this afternoon.  I took some at home over winter break and then left my SD card in my sister's camera.  The pics supposed to appear in my email soon (ahem).

Everything looks so awesome and wonderfully crafted.  I say it a lot, but this site hosts some amazing talent!

I've finally got pics of the epic box I was sent!  I was so spoiled.  Here are the amazing goodies:

I am totally in love with this shirt.

Super soft knitted armwarmers.  As I said in the discussion thread, I'm not usually much for winter stuff, but these are too pretty and comfy to pass up :)

A London bus pincushion!  I went to England in January and have become a tad obsessed with the buses.  This is such a cute, functional reminder of my trip <3

An awesome wrist rest for the computer, and a super handy miniature project bag.  I've been using it for my granny's daughters :)

These cute rubber stamps -- two little owls with a branch and a leaf.

And...a donut pincushion.  Can you guess who my stalker was?

It was the lovely chrispykreme!  Thanks so much, I really love everything!

haroldlovemaude, I'm glad you liked the package I sent you!!  I spent a lot of time figuring out how I was going to do the large.  I'd originally planned on stenciling all the words, but that plan ended up not working out.  Finally I decided on cutting all the words out of fabric and gluing them to the painting.

Now, on to the MAIN EVENT!!  The secret swap package that I received...all the way from Australia!  My number one requested item was wall art.  My amazing stalker provided me with just what I asked for and I cannot wait to get it all up!

I mentioned that I really like the use of the printed word in art.  She combined my love for that and the look of tree branches and came up with this really pretty altered page:

On my wist I had a lot of birds and tree branch items.  She used those to make me this neat three piece art set:

I mentioned that my living room is painted blue and she did a really good job of coordinating the paintings with this color!!

Last but not least is my favorite piece, inspired by my wist (my partner is really good at drawing!!)!  She used book page butterflies to perfect this beauty and I absolutely love it!

Unfortunately, the weight of the other canvases during shipping caused the canvas on this one to rip.  I'm trying to figure out how I'll fix it.  Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Who is this talented artist?  She is Australia's own NatACT!  I hadn't guessed her, but she was still on my list of possibilities.  Thank you so much for all this beautiful art Nat!!

Title: Re: Crafty Detective Round 7
Post by: Ryn on April 30, 2011 01:40:59 PM
If you hadn't mentioned the rip I totally wouldn't have noticed, I (and this is just my opinion) think it looks really cool, it looks like the butterflies are trying to escape the page, anyways, great art! Lovely packages from everyone, now if my sister would just get home so I could steal her camera and take pictures of what I received!

Title: Re: Crafty Detective Round 7
Post by: Tanza on April 30, 2011 11:25:16 PM
I didn't notice the rip till you mentioned it either.
You could try turning it over and using a lightweight fabric tape on the back.
I think the rip actually adds to the depth of the image also.

writer_crafter  those wrist warmers look great love the detail on them.

What a cool bus too.

Okay, I received a wonderful package on Friday! Here's a picture!

A super cool X-Men hat that I struggled to take off for five seconds to take this picture! (there's also an extra hat, i love hats) A crazy awesome Doctor Who hoopla straight from my Wist and an awesome iPod/other small electronic sleeve that's also got the X-Men logo! (and an Aero bar that ended up in my stomach as if by magic)

After deciphering a (hopefully) relatively easy clue, I've deduced my stalker is EkkaGrrl! Thanks so much.

I received! (yes we get mail on a Sunday, this is Israel  ;D )

theballandskein sent me an awesome package of handspun yarn and a mini quilt:

Yarn:

The two on the left she spun herself (the brown one is alpaca, the green one is hemp and wool); the two on the right are Rowan yarns

And the quilt:

I love trees and birds, and I guess the saying means she knows I'm too hyper-anxious all the time and need to chill out a bit. My flatmate will have a chuckle when she gets home.

Thank you very much theballandskein!

it is a lovely gallery, and i'm about to add to it. it's been WAY TOO LONG, because I received my package a couple weeks ago...!!

I received from Leeska. Let me tell you a little something about this lady, she's MAD! She sent me a bulging box of goodies, all wonderfully crafted and so special. I opened up my package and pulled everything out, turning it over and over, looking up close, modeling it, cuddling it....all with my mouth agape! I couldn't believe it! Leeska put together a truely wonderful package. I will treasure everything. THANK YOU LEESKA!!!

Now, onto the hefty picture load!

Everything together!

An embroidery kit, with everything I need to learn to embroider, including an instruction book!

A lil' scarf - it's so beautiful, the fabrics are lovely and the way it's stitched is very neat. The best way I can describe it is it's wavey! Maybe Leeska can supply a technical term. I've already figured out a couple ways to wear it, and it has even supplied a use for my most favorite brooch!

Not one, not two, but THREE!! necklaces! The third can also be worn as a headband! Score! I love them all, just my style - minimal with eclectic and earthy elements. love love love them.

dark green feathers on a leather cord.

clay (?) beads on a thick wire. holds itself in place. score!

interwoven fabric and cord. love this color combination.

LOLz worthy hoop for me wall  :D :D As a result of receiving this, I've had this song stuck in my head for weeks. Except, it's really just those two lines...i like tha way ya werk it

And of course, best for last, the cherrys....vintage union jack pillows. She made them with a worn feel, but they're so well crafted. I received this package just as I'd returned from a trip to my homeland, and was feeling very homesick. This entire package, but these pillows especially have warmed me since. Thank you again Leeska!!!!

I just received an awesome package from the most fabulous sophieangele....

fear not my friend it made it in tack, although I do think it went for a tour before it arrived. :D

here is the full shot

you can see the extra's headbands exactly what I was wanting and a pattern from my wist.
Can't wait to give it a go.

my medium personalised to add the Raven instead of the swallow, AND it fits perfectly onto my cranberry wall. Hubby has promised to hang it later today more photos to follow.

I almost cried when I saw this, I wrote in my info that blue willow pattern always reminds me of my Gran.....and this is so fabulously stitched that I have had to take a ton of pictured to show off your awesomely mad skills.
This too is going in a place of honor on my cranberry wall.....I must say that even hubby ( who is hard to impress) is awed by these to fabulous pieces of work and how perfectly they suit the wall.

Now I have to confess I had a moment of madness when I first got this parcel, I LOVE NCIS and Ziva would have to be one of my fav people on the show......and yup she comes from Israel.........yep that's the way my silly mind works and I got some awesome stickers too.

SO THANK YOU so much for one of the best ever packages I have ever received.
I feel honored that you were my partner.

Here are my wonderful goodies! I have to apologize for posting pics so late, my internet went out last week and I had problems with it for 4 or 5 days and then I got a cold. Onto the good stuff~

I got this awesome under the sewing machine organizer! I've made one before for a swap but never had one myself so I'm very excited! And a detachable pin cushion that is just too cute!

Fingerless gloves! I love these, I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and my poor hands suffer the most. The color is a lovely gray-blue (a little darker than the picture shows). They fit great!

A gorgeous bright cowl! I have one that I love that is a neutral so really wanted a bright one so I have one that will go with whatever outfit I have on. It's super soft and cuddly too. And a detachable rose pin!

And I'm really excited about this yarn, it's called Flounce and looks like the Ruffles yarn I've been wanting!

Who sent me all these lovelies?? Bugaboo1! Thank you so much hon, it's a wonderful package and I'm thrilled to have it. I'm sorry for posting pics late!

JacquelineD - I am SO glad you like everything!  As I was making the pillows I was trying to make them look frayed and worn without it looking poorly made - it's a delicate balance.  I might have to make a set for myself :) I love that turtle pin with the scarf!  The scarf is sewn with rows elastic thread so it gathers.  It looks complicated, but it is actually quite forgiving.  This was my first time sewing with elastic thread and I might be addicted now - ruffly scarves for everyone!

sophieangele - Ok, I am IN AWE of your fantastic embroidery.  I am staring at my computer with my mouth agape..... gorgeous!

I am loving this gallery - SO many amazing things.  You all need to stop and give yourselves a pat on the back for a crafty job well done!

I adore those owl mug rugs and the the hoops coming through and the stacking dolls - This is an amazing gallery!  I'm so glad I was in this swap!

It will be awhile before I get to swap again.  My quilt guild is now sponsoring a quilt drive for tornado victims.  I am going to be doing A LOT of sewing soon!  ... on top of all my crocheting.  I need a clone!  Can we have a I Need a Clone Swap??

Wow, that blue willow is incredible!  No other word for it!  And those fingerless gloves look cozy and soft- perhaps all the more because I'm sitting in a chilly room right now.  :)

I wanted to wave at my stalker, whoever you are, and let you know that I haven't disappeared.  In case mine is one of the international packages still floating around out there, and since I don't think the folks shipping overseas have a way of package tracking, I wanted to let you know that I'm keeping an eye out for it, no worries!  Didn't want you to have to worry about it arriving AND worry about your stalkee forgetting to post about its arrival.  :)

The blue willow embroidery is amazing!  Like Tanza, it reminds me of my grandma!  I actually have a large collection of it and am always looking for more - I'm wisting this one!

I received my package a few days ago and all I can say is WOW! Just wow!!

Here's a pic iof thge whole shabang.

I would just like to say this package was made of WIN! :) Here we have a gathering apron ( A GATHERING APRON!!!), a slouch hat that I have a little bit of  funny story about, produce bags! Hooray!!,  and a very accurate reusable bag.:)

I realized while uploading the pictures that I didn't take any of the produce bags alone. Hmm.. and now I'm using them. ;)

Here are two pictures of the gathering apron. I have to say that I love love LOVE this apron!! Everything about it is perfect! The colour is perfect, the length is perfect, the size is perfect! Here it is down.

And here it is gathered. ready for gathering. :)

We just picked up our chicks yesterday and I'm looking forward to the day when I can go out to the coop and collect eggs in my apron. :D

Now, on to the slouch hat. It's gorgeous!

Funny thing about this hat. I once tried to make a big hat from this exact yarn . LOL It turned out nothing like this. It turned out like a giant pot cozy or something.  :D :D :D It was horrible and I was super sad that I wasted my pretty yarn on a crappy pattern. Now I'm less sad. :D

Who would have sent me this fabulousness, you ask? Well using my fine problem solving skills I have deducted that it is murbeck!!!!  ;D

Thank you so much for being such a great stalker murbeck. :) You made this swap great!

I couldn't remember who your stalker was, EkkaGrrl, until I saw the gathering apron! :)  Murbeck and I have both made gathering aprons - I love them!  I still need to make myself one.  That is a super cute apron!

Ekkagrrl I am so relieved that you love the package so much!  There were a few answers that had me a tad bit worried about the colors of the apron but I felt they were earthy enough for you!  I so wanted to make you that too but wasn't sure you had a use for it and then, BAM!  You added it to your wists!  It was fate  :)

I did realize AFTER sending though, that I never washed away the marking ink from various spots on the fabric... if you spot any,it should just come off with water though, SORRY!  :-[

The hat- I was pretty confident that you would like the colors but that is so funny that you tried with the same stuff!!!  Again with the fate!  :D  It looks great on you!

yay, I feel so happy that I have succeeded in this swap.  Thanks for being an easy partner, Ekkagrrl!   :)  And of course thanks to our awesome organizers, seems that there have been all great matchups (with exception to the flakage, of course, but that's so beyond your control)!

I had to comment that I really agree that the partnering here was amazing! I really felt comfortable with my partner and had very little anxiety with this swap that I've had with others. Great job!!

murbeck, the colours are perfect! :) The colours make me want to wear the apron out in my garden so I'd have to say proper effect was reached.  ;D
I didn't notice any markings so there must not be many.

You have totally succeeded and I'm so glad you  crafted for me! :D

I am back with the pictures of everything that my ANGEL, StacySews sent me.

Here is everything together. Stacysews sent me a big box full of great things.

This is a giant re-usable lunch bag:

Two fabric organizers- they will be very useful in helping me organize my scraps.

A lap quilt pattern and postcards!

Water bottle holder

Snack and sandwich envelopes. I love them!

And last but not least a notepad and a card:

Thank you very much Stacysews.  I really appreciate everything you sent and it was so great of you to become an angel after my partner disappeared.  THANK YOU!

Me too..too.  We live in a condo and I can't tell if the post has come or not till I check the box.  If I get a package and don't catch the post person, I have to wait till the next day to pick it up at the outlet.  I am getting better at just not thinking about it...but it gets harder as time passes

Wow, I'm going to break the three-day no posting streak.

Anyway, my package from my swap angel arrived!  DELLASTELLA was my swap angel!

I wanted to take a picture of the box to put on here, but I don't have the technical know-how to smudge out addresses, but the shipping label is the Slovak flag!  It looks very cool!

Without further ado:

- a teapot cozy in a wonderful matryoshka fabric
- knitted handwarmers
- a set of mug cozies
- and a cute little needlebook!

I had to put in an up-close shot of the handwarmers... I love love them and have been wearing them all day!  (50 outside, 60 inside... perfect weather for them!)  They're so pretty!

Everything is so well made and very professional-looking!  And I do love everything-- it suits me perfectly!

Thank you so much-- you're a great swap angel!

I received from my angel today!!! I can not get over how generous she was! Everything is beautiful and amazing and just what i always wanted!

I love this little guy - i want a whole army just like him in every color of the rainbow

A lovely little needle book and needles to fill it

An origami envelope bag - I can't imagine a better fabric choice for it!

Not one, not two, but three, yes three gorgeous pendants!!!

Post by: suereal on May 21, 2011 01:44:24 PM
so, it has recently come to light that the person I crafted for is no responding about the package I sent.  So here are some pics..

This is a cashmire sweater of my Hub's that I managed to shrink.  So I shrunk it some more, cut it up the middle, crocheted the trim, brushed it out with a pin brush, and then sewed it on.

This is a light weight skirt in a bright pink with black serger made trim (I just went around the base of the skirt on the serger, over and over...till it looked kind of lace like).  It is cut to be shorter in the front, and longer in the back.  It is a ribbon tie (vintage ribbon BTW), and it ties in the back).

A few things I thought she might like.  The little zipper pouch is from a piece my Mom put together to make a vest and never used.  The little pink wreath pin I have had since I was a kid (I'm not a pink person...)

This is a bag a imade for her.  I just made it up as I went along.  Here is a post about it...  https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=378263.msg4468499#msg4468499

Anyway....I hope some one is enjoying the stuff at least ;D

It came!!  It finally came!!  My stalker actually said I'd be one of the last to receive and she was right.  And my stalker was not who I thought it was.  I thought my stalker was tanza but nope, it was sloth003!  She sent me a mind-blowing package which came on Saturday.  It felt like my birthday!  Lots of pics coming...

Look at this skirt!!  Sloth003 says it's her first time making wearables, I would not have guessed.  It has a 5m circumference at the hem - super swirly.  I wore this on Saturday to the annual craft show in my city along with this fantastic green t-shirt with a stencilled brocolli on it that I can't find at the moment - eeep.  They both fit perfectly.  I should have got my bf to snap a picture of me wearing them, but I forgot :S

One of the things on my wishlist for this swap was notecards, and sloth003 kindly obliged by sending me ones printed with an image of cable knitting (love!).  Also a huge gorgeous flower pin and some fantastic buttons to add to my stash (I'm addicted to buttons!).

Finally, my DPNs have a place to live. This was something else on my wishlist. I love the fabric on this.  I'll have to unearth all those odd needles and put them in their nice new home.

Sloth003 and I were in the mug rug swap together (but not partnered) and she kindly made me another fabulous mug rug.

I have always admired jewellery made from sea glass and sloth003 made me a necklace from lake glass (she lives near the Great Lakes in Canada) and a cool looking rock.  I wore the lake glass one on saturday too.

I could not stop squeaking over this.  I squeaked over everything but this was just wow!  Did you make this pattern up yourself sloth003?  This is going on my handmade art wall.

Some of my goodies were wrapped in this lovely fabric.  The middle one has needles, thread and scissors amongst the flowers.

And some sweet felt flowers.   I have a vase for these but I need a scrap of florist's oasis to prop them in or they just flop about.

I also received some cheesy popcorn which was wolfed down (scrummy) and two coffee crisp bars that my boyfriend and I enjoyed.

Sloth003, I cannot tell you how happy your package made me and I really do love everything you sent.  So very many thanks!

nice to know I was thought of though....

I love the mug rug it looks fabulous and that skirt is so cool.

and cross stitch OMG it rocks I wish I had that sort of patience and ability. I think my hands would die before I got out half a dozen stitches.

certainly worth waiting for, for sure.

I should have said, as well, that sloth003 thoughtfully left extra fabric on the cross stitch in case I wanted to turn it into something, but I want to keep it perfectly preserved in its frame like the piece of art that it is.

When I talk to the postal folks, they say the weather has been an issue with things getting to where they belong.  Floods, twisters, fires....I was complaining last month to a postal person about a Christmas prezzy not getting to me from back east, and she said they were just starting to get Christmas stuff from New York area the week before....so there are some reasons things could be taking awhile.

Anyone remember the Volcano last year? (I put it in caps because it became a person to me)  It ate a package I sent away and 3 months later the parcel shows up right where it was supposed to be.  Silly natural disasters....

I think we're going to go ahead and post for angels for our three members whose packages have gone astray.  If the originals show up later...that will be a nice surprise!  Some of the packages have been out two months already.

So I'll give our Crafty Detective gals first dibs on our three ladies.  PM me if you want to angel for one of them please - we have:

honeyd - in the US, top 5 wishes - Animal stuffie, purse, serveware/tableware, wall art or note cards, mug/mug rug.  No knitted items please.

S is for Summer - in the US, top 5 wishes - goddess dolls, subtle pagan, cloth pads, bento, kuspuk; allergic to dogs/cigarette smoke/lanolin; no bath stuff please.

suereal - in Canada, no wheat please, top 5 wishes - tee's, small stuffies, odd Japanese stuff, odd clothes for Barbie sized dolls, sleep masks, ATC's, armwarmers, pillowcases.

I have found the good to way outweigh the bad. I had been bummed to find out my partner had flaked, but I ended up with an amazingly talented, thoughtful and generous angel. I don't think I have mentioned enough times how grateful I am that Goktrose stepped forward to be an angel!

Title: Re: Crafty Detective Round 7
Post by: thanate on June 09, 2011 02:46:57 PM
I seem to have a 50% go with craftsters at this point.  And I simple don't get it.....I understand this site has a random factor, but really?  Does everyone have this kinda luck?

I feel like swapping kind of goes in cycles-- sometimes you get a couple partners in a row where you just don't quite get each others' styles, or things get lost or break in the mail or whatever, and it can be really frustrating and disappointing.  And then you get a fantastic partner or a great angel package, and suddenly you remember why you started doing this again.  (either that, or the people who don't have that re-inspiration moment stop swapping entirely, so you only have the people who are happy about it on the boards...)

Anyway, various postal systems have been pretty crazy lately, as other people have pointed out, and particularly if you're in the minority of non-US swappers, things are going to end up delayed from time to time. Here's hoping someone will make you an angel package that makes up for it!  :)

I do have to say, that I have had some compleatly lovely partners...even in the span of this disturbing issue.  And logic speeks to several thing being involved in the delay.  It is just how my brain workes.  It's been a bit of a ruff month and I'm trying to not take it personaly ;D

I went with a wicca/pagan theme for the whole parcel.

I made a set of flags,
Tha back

some goddess dolls and pencil case to fit a smart pen

an altar cloth

I received my angel package today from...................THE AMAZING THANATE!!!  And everything is fabulous ;D  Lets get to the pics...crafty stuff first ;D

My new sleep mask.  Is it not the coolest ever??  I LOVE the eyes.  They should definitely look out for me while I sleep.

Check out me new Lucky Monster Foot USB!!!!!!  SSSQQQQQUUUEEE! Ssssqqqquueeee, ssqueee *cough*, I mean I just think this is so cool.

A bunch of random monster eyes.  These are just the right size to throw at people to get there attention.  They will make nice pin cussions too

Then thanate combined my love of cryptozooligy and ATC's and made me a set of 7 suereal animals...

*The first card is for the Amoeboid Zingat-Ularians...also featuring Zaphod Beeblebrox.
*The second is the Leonine Gastropod, and it says,"A cousin of the famous sphinx, the Leonine Gastropod has the head of a man, the main of a lion, and the body of a snail.  It can be found on rocky hillsides in Greece, but few ever look for it."
*Third is the Lint Bat and it says, "A violent cousin of the dust bunny, the Lint Bat feeds on electricity sucked out of cords that it punctures with it's needle sharp teeth.  Please don not try to pick one up.
*Fourth is the the elusive Twin-Tailed Merynx.  The card says, "According to the guidebooks of the Xargothy plains, the twin-tailed merynx is a shy beast that can only be lured to a campfire by the smell of burnt pop-corn.  Myths and urban legends of the merynx abound, both among tourists and locals, but no documented proof of their existence has ever been recorded.

*Fifth is the Trioptic Octopode.  This card reads, "When the seas boil & the Midgard Serpent fights the Leviathan, the Trioptic Octopode will be ready with a handful of popcorn shrimp to munch on.
*Sixth is the Alligator Hydra.  The card explains, "The Aligator Hydra lives deep in the mangrove swamps of central Florida.  Experts believe that this is what it looks like, but it has probably eaten everyone who knows for sure.
*and , finally, the seventh card, the Punk Spyder.  "The Punk Spyder is not a real arachnid, but it beats up insects in dark alleyways and picks up black widows in bars with stories about how it lost it's eighth leg."

And now the extras!  thanate said she got to add more things to the box because she could send more since she had to send UPS since Canada post was on strike at the time.  She said she added things from the go to thrift box.  I wish I lived near her, cause if this was stuff to go away, I can't imagine how amazing her house is ;D.  So anyway, here come even more photos..

rhinestone skulls, a pattern book for dolls (Zoey loved this), the cool post card she sent me a note on, and the little things in the baggy are parts for a pink space ship.  Each bag has a few parts for a bigger ship, and she sent me all the parts.  I have the perfect place for a pink space ship.  I have no idea how you knew I needed THAT *grin*.

a cthulu calendar!!  Out of date, but that is no issue.  Not only are there totally charming chibi cthulus on every page, there are interesting things about each day.  I will definitely read it through before I cut it up.  The yellow is a little note pad.  She clearly did a ton of research on me because it says "I love it when I am right.  Which is ALWAYS."  I don't know how thanate found out I am always right....sometimes it seems like I'm the only one that understands that!  The things above the note pad are cute little punch out animals that one can put together.  The tiger was fun to make, and it is sticking together pretty good so far.  I  made that one first cause it's the year of the tiger.

A few things in bubbles.  I love coin bubble machines..partly due to the cute little bubbles.  These are cool cause they are totally round.  I love the little sea pets in them.  The one with the handle is a purse and pet piranha for my doll Zoey.  It's perfect for her.

a cute butterfly kite.  It's really sparkly on the other side.  I'm going to try and fly it off the balcony next time we have some wind.

All this cool tiny stuff was in a tic tak box.  The lucky stars are sooo tiny!  I could never fold that small.  I love the skull bead.  I don't have one like that.  Beside the skull are 2 tiny white beads with one brown spot each.  They are perfect tiny EYES!!.  I also love the velum skulls and bones.  Definitely will be used.

Hang in there, only a few more pics to go...

Then she sent me this wicked hard cover book called Play With Your Food.  I have been meaning to get it from the library to have a look (I've seen this guys work all over the place) and now I don't have to ;D.  The other 3 pics are just some of my favos from the book.

And lastly, she sent me something I have wanted for a long time.  The Avenging Unicorn play set from Archie McPhee's.  I had the Good vs. Evil Unicorn play set, so now each of my corns has a person to skewer :D

So Thank You so much thanate, for turning this swap compleatly around for me with your ohh so fun package!!!
