Yeah!  I get to be first to post my beautiful cards!

I received these lovely ATCs from tristitia.   ;D

She chose my Shakespeare theme and made me this stunning "The Winter's Tale" ATC, complete with snowflake ribbon background (shiny and sheer and oh, so pretty! I took a second photo just to show it off!), and crystals, and a lovely snow maiden.  So elegant and sophisticated!

And--yeah--bonus!  A cheery Christmas dove of peace for Christmas greetings, and a vintage-look flower tag!  So lovely!

What a wonderful package to get in the mail!  Thanks so much, tristitia!  :)

my card from Jessiben(:
The theme was your favorite book. She painted a scene from her favorite book. I love it too much.

The quote on the back. (My phone has automatic flash and unfortunately I can't turn it off)

Ooo pretty.  Can I ask what book?  Also, I'm sure you noticed by now, but the second shot is not of the back, just the front again.  :)

The book is Christy by Catherine Marshall.
Just one of many, many favorites.  :D

The quote on the back reads...

"The grass was dotted with flowers - I spotted buttercups and the orchid of fairy fringe and the vermillion of fire pinks, and mountain bluets like patches of the sky fallen into the grass...explosions of color".

Oops. Heres the real back. Although you can probably read it better where Jessiben posted it. :P

Ooo, I'm liking both of the cards so far... the see through effect is too cool, and the painting is lovely! Great gallery so far, I can't wait to get my first ones finished and sent out!

I rec'd the most wonderful little package today from suereal!  Since she got me into this...LOL...she sent me 4 ATC's to jumpstart my collection.  YAY!!!!  Let me tell you, there was much squeeing over here as we opened them, from both my partner and from me.  :D

First, she sent me an ATC of her avatar, which I love because it will always remind me of her:

And she sent me a picture of her very first ATC, which looks amazing:

(The laminate on them makes them a little hard to photograph, even without the flash, indoors.)

Then, here is where the squeeing started.  She made the most *adorable* little hand drawn fox and rat in love ATC!!!  Oh suereal, we just love it so much.  The little hearts drifting up, the moon, it's just so unbearably cute.  And there is nothing, and I repeat nothing, that makes us as happy as fox/rat and Mulder/Krycek (from X-Files) themed stuff.

And then this *gorgeous* paisley ATC, which has felt applique, embroidery AND beading!  What a knockout piece!

It's just amazing, and we are going to hang it as a Christmas ornament.  You see, we have not had a tree or decorations for many years and are just getting one this year, so we have NO ornaments.  Not one.  I am expecting a few from swaps, including the glittery Christmas ATC's I've asked for here, yay!  And I bought some candy canes, and my son and I are in the process of making some but aren't done yet, and that's it so far!  And other than candy canes, I have resolved to ONLY have handmade ornaments.  So this will have a place of honor as our FIRST, and I hope you feel as honored by that as we intend, suereal.  :)

Thank you so much for these.  I love them so much.  And they came after a couple of hard days and brought much happiness.  I really hope you like the one I sent you, too.  What a wonderful way to start my ATC collection, indeed.  This concept is so awesome and I can't wait to have a collection of everyone's artwork.

I got this beyond amazing Green ATC from suereal.  I mean, this thing is absolutely splendid!  Each letter is machine sewn, all the beads are hand sewn.  The coloring is gorgeous; it's all glittery and sparkly and wonderful!  I am so amazed and impressed with this.  I mean, like, WOW!

Plus, it's got this adorable Heinz Pickle pin attached to the ATC all comfortable looking and at home there--

And to top it all off, I got a little card explaining all about the Heinz Pickle pin that made me and my hubby smile.

I just LOVE this ATC!  Super-well-done and VERY creative!

Thank you SO much, suereal!  SUPER job!

I received two amazing cards today, one from goddessgarb and one from tristitia! I love them both so much, they are my very first ATCs ever!

First, goddessgarb claimed me for astronomy and made me this amazing card (I had to edit my picture a bit because every one I took was so washed out you could barely see the writing!)

And next, tristitia claimed me for octopus, and even added some gears in (I love gears!). She also sent me a bunch of awesome extras that I'll definitely be using on my next batch of cards!

Awesome cards so far, thank you so much guys!

I just "found" the gallery..and OMG Y'all are so sweet!  I'm so tickled everyone likes the cards I have done so much *blushing profusely*

goddessgarb--  I'm am so very honered that my card will be your first ornament!  I don't do Christmas trees (no kids and no space really) but I do have fond memories of them.  SO it is lovely to be part of your first tree in awhile.

WideEyedLife-- Really happy you like your card so much.  It was a ton of fun to make.  I have had a few of those pickles hanging around for a bit, and when I decided I needed one more thing..it was clear what that one more thing had to be! So glad you got a kick out of it.

And now I get to post the first of my cards that have made it thru the boarders at this busy time of year....I received 2 (and she only claimed me once..lucky me) gorgeous tentacle (or eeeewwww as she likes to call them hehehe)  ATCs from tristitia.  They are so cool and antiquey looking.

Thanks so much tristitia!!

I received two fantastic great wonderful hooray hooray ATCs today.
From Underdog creator above (I love that card, too!) Suereal I received "Roadkill Sixpack" for my found object theme.
I LOVE BOTTLECAPS!!!  She has placed these against a festive glittery background, each one different and each with some kind of story to tell.

Thank you so much!

And from goddessgarb, for my theme hand drawn, this Zentangle called "Idaho". She has been doing zentangles without knowing there was a name, a movement, a kit, etc. etc. Just came naturally to her!   I really love it--so cool.

Thank you both for these ATC gems!

Oh, I'm so glad you like them, AmandaBL and susanab.  :)  I'm glad you like the 'hawtness' AmandaBL.   ;)  The 'zentangle' one isn't actually named, it was just made in Idaho.  :)  And yeah, I've actually gotten down on myself for years because that kind of meditative doodling was the only kind of art I felt like doing.  I had no idea it was a 'thing'.  Now I can't wait to get the fancy papers and pens recommended by the zentangle site.  :D  Thanks for turning me onto it, susanab.

Thank you!  I love blue myself, so that one was so satisfying.  I thought it looked like a really sweet rainfall.   :)  And I LOVE that colored zentangle, suereal.  I am SO going to do some colored ones, too!

Title: Re: Ongoing ATC Swap December 2010
Post by: suereal on December 16, 2010 09:51:35 AM
The reason it ended up colored was I just couldn't stop playing with it heheh.  It's Sharpie pen with a fine point and the thinner type Sharpies for the color.  I just kept going over the lines till they got nice and thick in places

I love the round one (Idaho) goddessgarb made for susanab...especialy when it is posted next to the roadkill sixpack I made her.  So much roundy rounds ;D

I received some awesome cards yesterday from suereal, and another one from YarnOrThread today!

From YarnOrThread a zentangle in red and black, "stripes"

From suereal a hand drawn octopus, "zombiepuss"

and an awesome polymer clay "Captain Hooktacle" which was a little damaged in transit... I have the corner piece though and I'll glue it back on!

Thanks guys, I love them!

I was imagining poor Captain Hooktacal smashed into a million pieces.  SO a bit of corner is a relief LOL.  So glad your able to repair it ;D...I don't think I'm going to try poly clay cards for awhile....

Title: Re: Ongoing ATC Swap December 2010
Post by: Alchamy513 on December 16, 2010 03:56:56 PM
I thought it was a lot worse when I first opened it, since it crumbled a bit where it broke, but its pretty much just a little corner piece that should go back on just fine! And it came out so cool, don't stop using poly clay... maybe just try bubble wrapping the crap out of it next time? That's what I usually do!

I received my first card today! Susanab claimed me for Broadway musicals and took the hint about my current production being Oliver!  :D

So here is my Oliver! card. Thanks so much! Its going to be a great reminder of a fabulous show and it came just at the right time too. The show closed on Saturday and I've been thinking how sad I am because I'll be bored this weekend!

I received a fun, sparkly, tangled up lights glittery Christmas from ThreadorYarn today!  How much fun is this:

Two little bitty stars popped off so I glued those back on and then laminated the piece with packing tape so it wouldn't happen again, and next it's going on my tree.  :D  I was very happy to see that the packing tape actually made it a little more sparkly!  It did make it just a bit harder to get a picture without reflections though.

Thank you, ToY!

The jumble of lights is adorible! Who hasn't had that situation LOL?

goddessgarb.  That is why I tend to seal everything.  I have a card I just finished and it took so long casue I didn't like how each step was comming out.  But, after I added a shiny coat ( I used Diamond glaze in this case) I am now happy with the whole thing. YEAH for sparkley. Packing tape is AWSOME BYW.  I was fortunate to be given, a bazillion years ago, a roll of laminate that got too out of balence to use in the machine (the core had slipped and it is cone shapped now).  BUt I would totaly be useing packing tape if I hadn't.  One of my favo things to do (which I have been thinking about for ATC) with Ptape, is put it over a cool pic from the newspaper, rub them together with a spoon or popsiclestick or what ever your favo flatener is, and then let it sit over night just to make sure...or atleast 10 min .  THEN soak it in water and the newspaper comes off but the ink sticks to the tape.  You get a very ghostly pick.

Ooooo that technique sounds so cool....  Do you have any pieces to show using it?  I'm definitely going to try that.  And BTW, I'm so sorry you haven't rec'd your card yet.  It was the first one I sent off (or ever made!!!), but like I told you, I totally had a brain fart and didn't stick on extra postage for Canada.  Damn it.  I hope it gets there soon...or at all...  :'(  I am happy to make you another, of course, if it doesn't.

It's the cross boarder thing.  It can take 3 weeks sometimes....I look everyday.  I have only recieved one of the ...12ish (?)claim exchanges.  And there are a few picks of mine.  So (once again) I think I will just blaim Canada post.

And there are cases, that I worry the whole trip with the post, that I added enough postage.  It's all just part of the ..fun LOL

I love P-tape transfers! I've never done it with newspaper but I have used a lot of magazines and catalogs.

My post office sells Canada stamps for 75 cents so yeah, two stamps oughta do it.  That's what I put on mine this time.  An old 39 center that I found in an old wallet, and a new one.  :D

I use a dollar stamp from CAN to US.  That covers 2 cards as well.  It is good to know about the 75 cents from the US to CAN tho.  That will of course go up in Jan.  My postal lady says another 2 cents starting in Jan.

ANd don't worry too much y'all.  I have never had to pay to get mail out of hock heheh ;D

I received a card today! Actually today was a big mail day but only one from this swap. :) Yet, it's my favorite thing I got!

Here is my Steampunk themed card from Alchamy513.

So pretty! I am drooling over the little cogs and the key. I want to rip off the key and wear it....but of course I would never do that!

I was actually a little worried that mine had disappeared since no one had received yet!

When it rains it pours.  I got 3 ATC's yesterday!

First goddessgarb, casue it is her first ATC ever!

This is the "cover" of the ATC.  It says...of all the bioluminescent life forms in the deep, there is one tiny creature whose light show puts all others to shame.  It's deep blue lights can be flashed in unison or alternated in an endless number of animated patterns.  It is written with this uber cool metalic foil kinda ink, so the words look like tiny deep sea creatures hehehe.

When you open it you find...

A wee Firefly Squid!  It's done in pointalism, so you are only seeing the luminose spots.  Its so COOL!!  I wish I could get a better pic.  Thank you goddessgarb!

Then I opned one from jessiben.  She chose me for obscure siants.

This is Saint Lidwina.  Aparently, when she was 16 she fell on the ice and was paralized.  She spent the rest of her life praying in bed and had visions.  She is the patron saint of Iceskaters!!
You can kind of see it in the photo, but the whole card is covered in a very preatty glittler that is very subtle.  And her cross and hallo are a shiny gold that didn't come across in the photo to well. Thanks so much jessiben

And my 3rd one for today is from Thenutmeg2000.  She chose me for Art Quilt...and I think it is her first ATC?

It's cut from magazines ( I think).  ANd it's in my favo colors.  ANd I think this would be adorable full sized on my bed hehehe.  Thanks for the tiny quilt Thenutmeg2000

The cool paper behind 2 of the photos was the card from goddessgarb.  Jessiben sent me a card too, but all the stuff had fallen off.  But there was a very cute snowmen and trees inside
Thanks again everyone!

Oh suereal I'm so glad it got there!!!  Did you have to pay to get it outta hock?  I'm really glad you like it.  It was so fun to do!  It definitely kickstarted my addiction.  Like I told you, I felt so great that the weird creature I found and wanted to paint was a squid, another fave of yours!

I love that saint card!  Very obscure, love the story.  And that other card would make one wicked quilt on a bed.  :)

I rec'd two gorgeous, lovely ATCs today, one from Alchamy513 and one from Thenutmeg2000.

Alchamy sent me the most adorable "glittery Christmas" ATC, with two little crocheted snowflakes done with a yarn veined with sparkles.  I LOVE snowflakes, glitter, and crocheted snowflakes especially, so I'm tickled.  And since she saw that I'm displaying the glittery Christmas ATC's as ornaments, she even put a little red ribbon it to hang it by, which I think is so thoughtful!  Here it is:

Thenutmeg sent me the most beautiful "Woodstock" ATC, done with watercolor and ink.  She even made me a *rainbow*!  I LOVE it.  It totally does look like tie-dye, and the lettering is spot-on for the time period.  This card is far out in a really happening way.  :D  Here it is:

I want to thank both of you for being so thoughtful with your personalized extra touches on my cards.  Alchamy, with the ribbon, and Thenutmeg for my delicious rainbow.  Thank you so much.

Oh, and I forgot to ask, Alchamy did you crochet those teeny snowflakes yourself??  They're amazing!

I'm glad you like it! I did crochet the snowflakes, I've been on a crochet thread kick lately and I had (and still have) a bunch of leftover silver yarn from Xmas ornaments so I figured it would be perfect for mini snowflakes.

I got a card today from YarnOrThread. Super cute one too.  It's for My favo childhood stuffie category.

It's name is Pink Kitty and it's a printed cotten cat that she and her Mom made when she was 7.  So sweat ;D

and a note on packageing.  It's such a good thing YarnOrThread, that you cut slits in the notecard and stuck the card in there.  When I got the envelope it had been slit open all the way along the bottom of the envelope!  The card would have been lost had it not been attached to the note...So good plan!!  And Thanks so much for the sweat card ;D

Is it weird that I'm kind of bummed that there's no mail on Christmas? I think I'd rather get letters than presents since I know what most of mine are.  :)

But I received an ATC today from mxer145. My owl collection is really coming along nicely! Spanks!

Isn't it wicked??  I just love it.  Thanks so much AmandaBL.  And then there is the extra...

It's a poke art picture!  And it is delightfull!  I love how it looks like a fish too and she used "sea" as the "see".  Wonderfully surreal.

THANK YOU A TON ;D

I got 2 great cards earlier this week -

a blue & white zentangle  :) from Mxer145

and an onion shaped poem  :) from GoddessGarb and a friend of hers

The poem reads (starting at the top right 'leaf')
Writing for money is eating a whole onion,
Skin and fuzzy @ss and shoots
And all without crying

Thank you!  :-*   :-*

The onion poem is by my beautiful partner/lover, who is majoring in poetry and is the best poet I've ever read.   :)  And just so that I do her beautiful poetry justice, this is how it's written when not in microcalligraphy format:

Writing for money
Is eating a whole onion,
Skin and fuzzy ass and shoots and all
Without crying.

I'm so glad you like it, ThreadorYarn.

Snow is on the ground but spring training still can't be far behind ;)
ThreadOrYarn went to bat on my theme of Mets OR Yankees but made me laugh out loud (as opposed to LOL because it was a longer laugh) with this optimistic AND ingenious ATC:

An ATC with a SPINNER--I'm lovin' this!!!
Thank you for combining the two teams and letting me have some serious subway series dreams!!! FaNTaStiC!

I checked my mail today and received 2 letters from the swap!

I got this sweet Wheel of Time ATC of Aginor from Alchamy513/Jessica.
Love it!

I also got these 2 ATCs from suereal/Susi. I love Gaga! You can also see the most excellent postcard she sent me peeking over the cards. Hehe!

Thanks Ladies, they are so great. I'm going to have to start framing all the ATCs I've received. :)

r0ckwithme rec'd my card awhile ago but is out of town for a few weeks, so I'll go ahead and post my pic.  It's for the theme "your worst fear":  (It's kind of intense, but aren't everyone's worst fears?  I know it was very therapeutic to create.)

Ringing out the old year with 3 ATCs!

This is "As a Dream in the Night" by WideEyedLife!  It was created with Prismacolor pencils (oh I WISH I could draw like this), feathers, some lovely yarn, a piece of a foreign book. WEL says she hasn't really done collage before! I foresee her doing tons of collage in the 2011! This is SO BEAUTIFUL! Thank you so much!

I received TWO photographic ATCs from Muddy21 for my "trains" theme. They were taken at the Golden Spike Natl. Historic Site in Utah. The top ATC is of the last tie that completed the  first transatlantic railway (1869).  The Jupiter ATC  is a replica of the engine that brought Leland Stanford to the opening ceremony. Muddy21 knows here stuff!! Thank you, these are so historic!!

I rec'd 2 ATC's last week:

First of all, a card for my "middle-aged Disney princesses" theme that has sparked much intimate discussion between WideEyedLife (the artist) and myself:

And second of all, a truly amazing card for my "thunderstorms" theme from r0ckwithme:

Those raindrops are cut out!  It's a colored ink background with what I believe is heat-sealed plastic wrap on it!  A technique I have to learn more about, for sure.

Thank you, artists, for sharing your work with me!

giggle.  This comment reminds me of the dialogue goddessgarb and I had over this ATC.  She very eloquently said, in an email to me after receiving this ATC:

Quote
I wanted to see what would happen to a perfect Disney princess when her looks faded, she lost her 16 inch waist, and she had lived half a lifetime not in a fairy tale, having experienced bad and good, having amassed all the wisdom and wear that comes with that.

If I were to choose the theme again, I would probably do something like that.

The reason I didn't, was because my mother is one of those women who is always slender and trim, and she has the same figure in her 50s that she did in her 20s.  Despite life, and 4 children!  It's the genes, I guess.  lol

Since I modeled this middle-aged princess after my mother, she retained the figure! lol  The only thing that changed was the color of Belle's hair, just as my mother's hair changed.  (Mom went prematurely gray at 35 and has never dyed it.)

If I had to guess, though, goddessgarb is surely not wanting us to become worried that we don't have our 17 year old bodies!  Right, goddessgarb?

My thoughts exactly.  I hate, with the fiery passion of a thousand dying suns, all the pressure on women to be other than what we are.  I cannot stand fat talk, 'does this make my ass look big' comments, or dieting talk.  I hate all the super skinny, stylized illustrations of women and girls that no human female can ever approximate in appearance.  Almost all images of women in this culture are sickening.  Literally.  IMO, nothing erodes female self-esteem more in this culture and keeps us disempowered and hating ourselves.

Okay, rant over.

I can't help but chime in, because on another site I put up a request for altered playing cards involving the same line of thought:
Quote
1.THEME: naked ladies! Since there's a history of nudie playing cards, I think it would be an interesting twist on that cultural oddity to have a deck of APCs with female nudity created primarily by women--celebrating the female form in all its shapes, colors and sizes, as something more than a commodity for men's viewing pleasure.
2. Needed: Spades : Ace,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,Jack,Queen,King
Clubs : Ace,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,Jack,Queen,King
Hearts : Ace,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,Jack,Queen,King
Diamonds : 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,Jack,Queen,King
3. Details: Definitely doesn't have to be a playing card with a naked lady on it before you start to work on it; any playing card base is fine. Any weight of card is ok, but no dimensional embellishments on these, please. Do adhere your identification to the back of the card somehow, even if it's just with a Post-It note.
- DO's: be yourself and do your best - as in all things! All mediums and images of any era welcome. Explore your own issues re nudity and the body and bring them into your art as much or as little as you want to. It doesn't have to be tasteful; an entirely porny image can be reworked into art depending on what you do with it. Scenes of affection with either gender are also welcome. You can also put all my commentary aside and just make something that is pleasing to your eye. (:
- DONT's: I'd prefer no horror/gore, demonic/dark arts, or tacky, grotesque caricatures/innuendos/raunchiness like something out of a teen boy or prison inmate's fantasies
4. LOCATION: I am in California, U.S., and love international trades
5. Any other COMMENTS? To rephrase myself, the spirit of this is celebratory and empowering, not degrading. Consider how different nudity is through the eyes of a woman (regardless of her sexual orientation) than through the eyes of a man (regardless of his sexual orientation, as well) by reviewing the imagery marketed to women and to men. And remember, the vintage nudes that we consider tasteful were considered scandalous in their time!

I can't help but chime in, because on another site I put up a request for altered playing cards involving the same line of thought:

I've always wanted to do a photography book of ordinary women of all ages, sizes, colors, all naked, and all un-retouched in any way.  I think we, as women, would be very surprised to see what actual female bodies look like, we've been so brainwashed by popular media's idea of beauty.  Even the models we're supposed to revere don't look like their pictures.

Yay, I received from ThreadOrYarn! I requested a gamepiece for the awesome Craftster board game invented by farmgirljane (I have the link back in my themes list somewhere). ThreadOrYarn made this one, with a photo of a project she really did complete, and that makes it all the better! (In the original game, the items were just drawn on the cards.) I'm so excited now to collect more, and have various people's projects immortalized in them!

Thank you!

Yeah! I'm getting mail again!  I got a really cool card (and a cool note card as well) from Seeba7 today.

Amazing eh?  I just LOVE it  Thanks a bunch Seeba7
and then I was double lucky cause she sent me a very cool card too

It is going on my paper picture wall for sure. You can kind of see the reflective dots on the goldfish. My land goldfish thinks it is a real goldfish.  I keep finding it sniffing the card heheheh

Thank you thank you thank you!

PS.  No idea if it was the boarder, or an unscrupulous postal person, but the sticker holding the card closed was sliced open and the flap was loose.  I think that since ATC are just about the same size as a credit/gift card it is the naughty postal person.  But thankfully, card was still in it ;D

Suereal, I'm so glad you love the deep sea anglerfish! I have a strange obsession with them myself. :)

I rec'd today from Jessiben!

This one is Psychology - Splitting.

I got a great note with it explaining its significant. I think that's a great way of looking at the world, Jessiben! I love the black/white you use in the ATC to show the great contrasts in splitting! Super. :)

I also got a few die cut pieces. So cute! I especially love the acorn. :)

They are both fantastic, but I'm not sure whether I will be able to post them before monday - I'm having to make an unplanned trip to visit a friend and I'm not sure what my internet access will be like.

I received a wonderful "countdown to Thanksgiving" ATC from ThreadOrYarn yesterday.

I'm so excited to be receiving this theme; I've got a great idea for the advent calendar I'm going to make with them all.  It will be fun!

So, without further ado, here's ThreadOrYarn's wonderful card:

I just love the way she's used text in the image!  Reading it makes my mind float around in a fun visual picture of holidays past, and future.  What a great concept!

Thanks, ThreadOrYarn!   :D

I received 2 cards from Alchamy513 today!  Lovin them ;D

This one is for Steampunk.  The wee writeing at the bottom left says, "Please help me I'm LOST! I may look dead but I can asure "u" my battery is just run down."
Which should become my tag line...I feel like that waaay too often heheheh

The second one is for cryptozooaligy (which I seem to spell differently every time I spell it...).  Love the fact she sent me Canadian stamps from the US.  I had no idea the had a crypto line of them at some point.  That tiny wee Kraken is soo CUTE!!!  Did you crochet that?  When I first saw it, I wanted 1,000 of them to cover a jacket or some such :o

Thanks so much Alchamy513!

I'm glad you like them! I saw the stamps and knew I had to use them... and yes, I did crochet the little octopus. I need to stop working so small, he gave me more trouble than he should have. Although I did use embroidery thread and not crochet cotton, which is so much easier to work with!

And here I am at long last to post pictures of the terrific cards I received from susanab and WideEyedLife.

From susanab on the topic of trains comes this fun map from the NY subway along with its own MetroCard just in case  ;)  This is enough to make me want to head for New York!

and, with the card in its special little pocket...

Then, from our esteemed organizer, WideEyedLife, a card on the topic of world travel from her days in Belize in Central America.  This card is two for one - first, a photo she took of a Mayan ruin.

The card opens up to reveal a double photo inside that gives a stereoscopic or 3-D view of another scene.
Very, very cool.   8)

Thank you both - I love these cards!

goddessgarb gifted me with a magnificent watercolor/collage ATC named after my daughter, Aurora. The colors are so terrific here--I hope my printer does it some kind of artistic justice. The layers are so nice, I love this every way I look at it. Thank you so much!

Everyone has been making such awesome cards! I really love the stereoscopic one and the metro one, such unique ideas!

I feel horrible that I haven't posted the two I received this week but I've been super sick and although I've been on the computer (I really can't just lay in bed all day, and sitting at the computer is mindless enough) I really just keep forgetting. The ATC love is rollin in now.  I got 2 envelops with cards in them today.

I got a cute card from rOck with me for favo childhood stuffie.

Love his punked out eye

The 2 cards from goddessgarb.  One is an extra.  The first is from one of my favo movies, 12 Monkies

Crazy pills (I'm sure a few of those are ones I take ;D) and then it has a quote from the movie overlay..."You know what crazy is?  Majority Rules!" hehehe

This one is the extra.

A bunch of guys worshiping the great TV god!  It says.."Jeffrey Goines:  There's the television.  It's all right there - all right there.  Look, Listen, kneel, pray.  Commercials!  We're not productive anymore.  We don't make things anymore.  It's all automated.  What are we "for" then?  We're consumers, Jim.  Yeah.  Okay, okay.  Buy a lot of stuff, if you don't, what are you then, I ask you? What? Mentally *ill*."  So funny/sad ;D

Thanks a bunch y'all!

goddessgarb-Nope, I missed that the TV one is 12M too!  Just shows how long It's been since I watched it.  I tried to rent it over the holidays and the vid store doesn't carry it anymore *GASP*!  So I have only used MTape transfer with news print.  What paper was your text on before transfer?

Thenutmeg-  I am so glad you like your card!  I used to spend hours doodling words in highschool.  It was fun to do it again.  And it was just too serendipitous it just starting as I was reading your list

Alchamy513-  I hope your feeling better!

I received my last two cards today. The first was from calluna for my red and gold theme that I now have two lovely cards for thanks to this swap.

The beeswax technique is new to me. I love how it feels.

The second is from thenutmeg2000 for french script. What a beautiful quote! The translation is on the back, it reads "I am not afraid. I was born to do this" -Joan of Arc

ThreadOrYarn asked me to post pictures of the cards I sent her since she doesn't know when she'll be able to... however I seem to only have a picture of one of them. I'm not sure how that happened but I'll post my Hawaii one now and the crochet one will have to wait. I also need to get pictures up of two I received, that will happen later today I hope! Oh, I know why I don't have pictures... I didn't take them. I did find the Hawaii card in my photoshop file since I ended up leaving it plain since I liked it so much.

I received three ATCs yesterday!  Yeah!

The first one, made by susanab, is on my "twisting midnight" theme.  It's a zentangle, plus a clock, and the infinity symbol!  About it, susanab says
Quote
It's actually the infinity symbol--which does look like an elongated 8 on its side! So it has to do with time: midnight, the clock with12 and 6 and the twisting of time into infinity.

So cool!  So much thought going into the theme!  I really like where it makes my mind go: all of the different elements of the piece come together so well both artistically and intellectually!

Thank you, susanab!

Next up, are these Countdown to Thanksgiving themed ATCs from jessiben.  And they are so fun!

I love the irony of "gratitude" written on this one.  I mean, I sure am glad I'm not the turkey! lol

And this one was a bonus!  Yeah!  So simply elegant, and beautiful.  I love the pattern on the paper and the glittery numbers!  (I'm such a sucker for glitter! lol)

Thanks so much, susanab and jessiben.  Great cards!  :)  It's like it's Christmas in January.   ;D

I got a delightful ATC in the mail today: Pin-ups theme by AmandaBL.  It's so Sexy!  Hand-embroidered, with a beautiful starfish charm (I'm so tempted to steal it for my charm bracelet, but don't want to ruin the card! lol), a iridescent little shell--and, of course, the pin-up beauty herself!

But that's not all!  She also sent me some extras: 4 clear tags, and a beautiful glittered paper that I'm for sure going to re-purpose!  Oooo, what fun!

Thanks so much, AmandaBL!  So fun to open this package! ;D

Muddy21 sent me an ATC on my "your favorite illustrated children's book".  Her favorite book is "The Sailor Dog".  And the ATC is just so darling!  I'm so excited to try and find a copy of this book to read; I've not heard of it before!  :)

I love that it has a quote from the book on it, too!

Thanks, muddy21!

The Sailor Dog shouldn't be too hard to find - it was one of the Little Golden Books.  It was written by Margaret Wise Brown, who also wrote Goodnight Moon among others, and illustrated by Garth Williams, who also illustrated titles like Charlotte's Web and The Little House on the Prairie.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I still do!  :D

Ah, I just printed my text out on good 'ol printer paper, cut it out, put the packing tape over it, used the blunted handle of my scissors to press it on REAL GOOD, let it sit about oh...half an hour?  Then put it in a dish of hot water to soak for about an hour or so...you'll know when it's done because the paper just floats off, leaving the tape imprinted!  I actually saved the paper and dried it, too.  :)  The tape stayed sticky, so then I just stuck it where I wanted it!  It's such a cool method!  I can think of all kinds of ways to expand on it...

Tape transfer becomes much more usefull now that I know you can set up your own text!!  I was told it had to be newsprint...just goes to show ya, don't believe everything your told ::)

Ok, finally pictures! I think I have one more coming... but I finally have fresh batteries and my camera up and running so here are two amazing cards I received (sorry it took so long!).

First, a beautiful handdrawn card by Seeba7 for Labyrinth... two of my themes! I love it, its so beautiful! She also sent me a big flower cutout to use, I somehow didn't get a decent picture of it.

(Sorry for the hair, my dogs and cats love my room so there is more cat hair than not!)

And next another beautiful handdrawn card from Goddessgarb for distopian. She based it on "Fahrenheit 451" which I have yet to read, and its done over watercolors. So awesome!

and a slightly blurry pic that shows the colors much better:

Thanks girls! This was such a fun swap, I'll most likely be joining a future one!

OK, so sorry everyone for being so late to post pics.

Here is the first one I received from susanab, "Pop Top Art" for my found objects theme. The colours of the photo are a bit skewed towards yellow, but the colours are really vibrant. The pop top has been attached with wire rather than glued, so it moves just the teeniest bit - just enough to make it more 3-dimensional.  :)

This next one is from mxer145 for old buildings. Cause it has a matte surface, I could use a flash, so the pic is a bit sharper than the others and you can see most of the detail. It's really great.

And these last two are from muddy21 and they are both of historic buildings from Exeter, New Hampshire. The first one is my favourite. (Unfortunately, the photos I took are pretty blurry.)

Thanks so much guys - they're all great!

I got -2- ATCs from tristitia on my "Countdown to Thanksgiving" theme.  One was a bonus--yeah!

First, I have to include a photo of the adorable hand-made card that came with them.  And of the envelope she sent them in.  The envelope made me giggle!

And now for the ATCs!

They're SO cool!  I love their steampunkish quality, and their subtlety.  They're textured and layered and antiqued.  I can see that she used stitching, stamping, what appears to be laser cut out numbers (SO cool), and a very neat texturing medium.

Very impressive and a great addition to my collection!

Such a delightful package to receive!  Thanks so much, tristitia!

AmandaBL sent me a beautiful, textured mixed-media card!

And she made this great carrying case for it, with transparency tags attached with yarn...I'm definitely reusing this for toting around ATCs in the future, even with the note written on it!  :D

Thanks so much!

Okay, so here are all the cards I've received this month... For some reason, I thought because I had taken pictures of all but the last two cards and resized them etc. that I had also posted to the gallery - I'm so brilliant.  So I apologize to my partners for being so delinquent.  If it hadn't been for our incredibly organized organizer (thanks WideEyedLife!) it would have totally slipped my mind!

First, "Zen Numbers" from SusanAB - thank you!

Then, the beautiful "Crystal Winter" from WideEyedLife - wow, I wish I could draw like this...  There are sparkles, too - I'm not sure how well they show up...

The very cool addition to my clocks theme from Alchamy513 - I love the darkness and gloominess of this - it's how I feel about the passage of time quite often!

And finally, two cool cards from Suereal - the squid is super shiny (what a cheerful squid!) and the other "70's Banquet" is a bonus - I'm sure glad I wasn't old enough at the time to remember if my mother tried to feed me stuff like this in the 70's - liver in lemon sauce, wow...

Thanks everyone - and again, I'm sorry that it took me soooo long to post pics - certainly not because I didn't love the cards!

I'm in love with the Fahrenheit 451 card....I can't really pinpoint why, it's just very evocative.

Thank you!  I really challenged myself with those teeny tiny buildings.  I love that book and tried to capture the desolation and a city in flames.  :)

I received 2 cards from suereal - (incorporating 3 of my themes  :)). One is a hand drawn steampunk cat and the other is some very cool sea creatures, with glitter and bead embellishments for the octopus tentacles and squid's eyes.

I also took a photo of the envelope, with the cardboard star that was protecting the ATCs and a pile of origami paper (I think there was eight different patterns).  The envelope is made out of a National Geographic cover with pandas on the back and a pic of someone riding a bike on the front.

Suereal said in her letter that since it was going so far she should make it worthwhile - and she totally did!  ;D

Thanks so much!!

And, speaking of goddessgarb  ::)  Here I am in my delinquency, posting a photo of a terrific ATC from her, this one on the topic of Area 51.  Funnily enough, my mother told me a marginally related story recently about how she served in the Navy WAVES during World War Two and was stationed somewhere around the Great Lakes when she first joined up.  She said that the Air Force boys [her words] would come up from Area 51 on weekends and do their best to impress all the girls with their stories about secret this and secret that.   :D

and an explanation on the back...

Last week this card went to my son for his eighteenth birthday, along with  Cityscape (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=358913.msg4223147#msg4223147) by sabrinalouisemiller,  World Travel (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=358913.msg4235961#msg4235961) by calluna, and the second card in this post, World Travel Stereoscope (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=365972.msg4338694#msg4338694) by WideEyedLife.

He loved them all!  Now we're working on a way to display them.  Some are multi-dimensional so a traditional frame doesn't work too well, but he has a very analytical engineering-friendly sort of mind and I expect he'll come up with something that's just right.  Thank you all!

I received my lovely gay pride card from calluna about a week ago, and I got my Father Ted quote card and My Favorite Color card from mxr145 yesterday, and they are all great.  I've been sick for several days, and kind of off and on since the first of the new year actually, so I am behind, but I'm very grateful for the ATCs.  Thank you.  Here are the pictures:

calluna's gay pride card, "Out On The Table":

(It incorporates many other faves of mine, rainbows, spirals, and glitter for starters...:))

mxr145's 2 cards, "Father Ted Quote" and "Favorite Color":

(Now I want to know what episode that one's from!)

(Hmmm...I'm guessing she likes all of them. :))

My last card for December (wah!) from WideEyedLife:

It's hard to see in the picture, but it's very 3-D.  The fish in the middle is raised off the background, the seaweed is raised and the coral is painted on the aquarium "glass" which is actually plastic from a juice bottle!
Thank you!  A very cool idea that turned out really well!

Aww, thanks!

It's actually one of those ATCs that I had a love/hate relationship with.  I liked the concept, but when it was finished, it was so thick.  Over a quarter of an inch!  I so like to make ATCs that would fit perfectly into a plastic sleeve! lol

But it was fun, and I may make another sometime, because I like how it turned out.

Here's another photo that I was able to take with the sun coming in through the plastic.  It shows some of the visual effects of the light through the plastic: kind-of looks like water, especially since I used plastic that was textured.  I like that, and am trying to think of another project to use the concept for!   :D
