Title: How to customise fake uggs?
Post by: Roxy1976 on November 06, 2010 06:41:03 PM
Hi

I have just bought some black fake uggs and in view that they are clearly not uggs anyway, thought I may as well customise them.

Can anyone suggest what materials I could use.

I thought maybe leather or felt cut out shapes? But how would I stick them on?

Thanks in advance

xx

Hmmm. that is a good question, so hopefully i can help. If you want to customize them, I suggest going out and looking for something  that is kinda like the ugg material, or you can go all unique and find stuff you like (ribbon, lace, etc...) and I would use fabric paints too!!! then you can glue them using one of many ways. I use fake nail glue(yep you read that right)or even acrylic paints before it dries completely to secure some items on. hope this helps you out! let me know how this worked out for you!!!

I would go with hand-appliquing your felt or leather shapes. A very light coat of spray adhesive on the back side of your appliques would help to keep them stable on the boots while you hand-stitch them into place. The advantage of hand-stitching is that it's more secure than adhesive alone, and you can sew through only the outer layer of the boots, leaving the lining nice and fluffy.

MaxCalifornia has a post on her blog about putting a Batman symbol cut out of cheap felt and sewing them to the back of the shoe. I would suggest a thick needle and just hand sew it!
