Details of swap:
In this swap, one partner (the “crocheter”) will be crafting one large OR one medium and one small amigurumi (you can also discuss with your partner potential other sizes/combinations). The other partner (the “poppeter”) will be crafting one clothed poppet.  This is a great opportunity to craft what you’re good at, and receive something you don’t make yourself!

Sign-up limits:
Since each crocheter must be matched with a poppeter, it is important than we have the same number of each participating.  For that reason, sign-ups will initially be limited to 12 crocheters and 12 poppeters (for a total of 24 participants).  If there are more people interested, the limits will be expanded so long as the number of crocheters and poppeters are equal. If you are interested in swapping, but sign-ups are full, please still PM the questionnaire to the organizers, so we can keep track of interest and expand the sign-up limits if needed.

Things to keep in mind:

1. Flakers will not be tolerated.
2. This swap has a mandatory weekly check in. This means that you must post (at least) once a week in the discussion thread in order to keep both your partner and us, the organizers, in the loop as to how your crafting is progressing. We will be keeping a record of such posts and if you have poor communication, it will be noted in your feedback.
3. If you have not heard from your partner for awhile or notice that your partner has not been active on Craftster for a while, and you are feeling concerned, PM the organizers! Or if for any reason whatsoever you have concerns, feel free to PM us!
4. We will not approve anyone who has multiple feedbacks stating that they have poor communication, have not used a DC#, or have consistently been late senders.
5. Everyone is expected to send on time.  If you are going to be late, you must notify us ASAP (BEFORE the send-out date!). Those who are late and do NOT notify us, will receive negative feedback which will not be removed or corrected until we receive a DC# and the package is received by your partner.
6. When you send your package, PM the organizers and your partner to let them know it’s been mailed, and give them the DC# so they can track the package.
7.  Posting photos in the gallery is mandatory, and failure to do so will result in a comment in your feedback. If you do not have access to a camera, please contact your partner and ask if they can take pictures of both packages which they send/receive.
8. If you are an international swapper or sending internationally and are unable to get a DC#, you must retain a copy of your shipping receipt. If for any reason your package goes missing and you do not have a copy of the receipt to provide us the organizers, you will have to resend to your partner.

To contact the organizers, send a PM to blue_lalita and cc Ilianora.  In the subject line, put “Poppet/Amigurumi Swap” and “sign-ups,” “question,” “sent,” “received,” etc.

Sent in my questionnaire!  I'm in a knitters vs. crocheters and we were down to the wire with getting enough knitters.  I'm thinking this is the same sort of deal.  It seems like poppets are much more time-intensive than amis.  Although, there are exceptions to every rule.

I will make a poppet or 2!!   I really want to join this swap.  I love amigurumi but I am too intimidated to try it myself.  I promise myself I will someday though

Hello! I'm helping co-organize and can't wait to get partners for this swap. It's awesome to see how fast it's filling up. I won't be around until Monday probably (work has me doing 11 hour days with an hour drive there and back) and I expect I'll have lots of pages to catch up on. :D

Do it! We could seriously use your mad poppeting skillz!  :D But seriously, no pressure...

Reminder for everybody:
When you send me your questionnaire, or any other communication for this swap, PLEASE cc the co-organizer, Ilianora, so we have duplicate copies and as many failsafes in place as possible.

Most of the questionnaires are REALLY open in terms of what type of poppet they'd like to receive! I actually find that harder to craft for, so I'd recommend contacting your partner to discuss their interests a little more.

I'm gonna sign up to make a poppet. I just was trying to decide if I had enough motivation to make one. But after reading everyone's posts, I decided I WILL get another one...or possibly...POSSIBLY 2. Everyone should have a poppet!!

Wow, I think you even considering making two poppets are so generous! I can knit and crochet anything but poppet-making just seems like a impossible task to me.

I΄m looking forward to getting a poppet to call my own! :D

I'm so sad I didn't see this sooner! :'( I've been dying for a poppet swap where one partner makes something other than a poppet, since I'm not a poppeter myself. Ah well, hopefully next round.

There's still room for one more ami crafter! But whether or not you participate, I would encourage anyone to give poppeting a shot - it's really not that hard, and there's lots of instructions and guides on the poppet-along board. I would never do it, but some people even sew them by hand! Before my first poppet, I'd basically only sewed curtains and circle skirts before.

By the way, I'm trying to give everyone "in progress" swap status as soon as I reply to your PM, so if you don't see that in your profile, let me know!

I'm dying to whip up some Ami's.  My kids have far too many stuffed animals so my hubby would kill me if I made some for home.  I didn't even tell him I was joining this.  I'm always doing something so he'll never figure it out.  Mwa ha ha... (evil laugh)

One day I will try to make a poppet.  Until then, this swap will fulfill my poppet wanting ways.

What is it with the significant others out there? They need to realize we could be doing something way worse than crafting! Besides it's what helps me, and I'm sure a bunch of you too, to deal with HIM and the kids!! LOL

Boo, I've missed the boat on this one too, I am a crocheter, the idea of experimenting my poor sewing skills on an unsuspecting swap partner to attempt to make a poppet  fills me with dread. (I'm up for personal swapping though) Can I put my name on the growing list of crocheters who are interested in this swap??? Pretty pleases.

What size does the large ami need to be?

Well girls all this talk about DH's. Guess whose helping me with this swap? My DH! :D! He has mad crocheting skills. I was telling him about this swap. He said he's in if nobody asks for a dragon, lol.

If anybody could give me a general idea what a large ami will be I will discuss it with him today. We are in the planning stages now. I hope we can get a slot.

The swap FAQ says:

This is a guideline ONLY: a rough estimate of sizes described by time it takes to make package, by physical size and by cost:

By Time
-Large = 3 or more hours
-Medium = 2 or more hours
-Small = 2 or less hours

By Size
-Large = A shawl, a shirt, a skirt, a set of jewelry with four to five items, a purse
-Medium = one single necklace or bracelet, a scarf
-Small = Earrings, stickers, wallets, pouches, bookmarks

By Price
-Large = $30 or more
-Medium = $10-$30 dollars
-Small = $10 or less

Personally I mostly measure by time. If i were to knit a pair of socks they would price and size-wise be a medium, but I΄d spend 10 hours, so I΄d count it as a large. Not sure what everybody else does tho?

Also, I΄m not sure if you΄ve seen, but the crochet-slot it filled for now. We need more poppeters first to even it out, as I understand :)

Yup, exactly.  If we get the poppeter slots filled, I'll expand to allow more of both.  Right now we have 1 crocheter on the waiting list already.

I have a craft room and my bf gets the living room for his games. Crochet and knit are nice because at least I can sit beside him.

Yes, Ilianora and I are working on a plan, and I'll post about it on Wednesday - that's the halfway point for sign-ups, and I think we'll have a pretty good idea of what we're looking at by then.  This situation is far from ideal (and certainly not what I expected), but we don't want the swap to crash and burn.

I'm sure there'll be more poppet makers signing up closer to the deadline. Why not post a request on the Poppet-a-long Thread on the Craftalong (Miscellaneous Board)?

I have, and someone else has too.  I've also posted a message in the toys discussion board.  I think part of the problem is that a poppet-only swap is just finishing up, and there might be another one coming along soon.  But if you have any other ideas, let me know! This is my first time organizing a swap, and I'm plum out of ideas of my own.

How about pming some poppeteers and inviting them?
(Tho I'm ok with making 2 or 3 poppets-as long as my partners don't mind colorful poppets)!

Yes, we're almost done, and altho some of us are itching to make more summer seems like a super busy swap time.
Speaking for only myself, I just finished the mini poppet swap, I've got 4 projects going, and one open swap slot I'm trying to decide on. And another mini poppet swap is possibly coming soon!!... AND I usually only do 2-3 a year haha! (I'm gearing up for a long dry spell).  Well, if I can wrap some things up soon I hope I may be able to jump on this one, not sure yet tho.

It would be really cool if we got some new people to try out poppets. I know it may seem intimidating....but it really isn't at all! Before I made poppets I had tried making pancake head rag dolls, which were fun and I still make them too, but these are full of personality and they are different. I love the poseable part of them too.

I know everyone in the poppet along has been super friendly and helpful, and loves to see new ideas. I hope some of you out there consider giving it a try....you won't be sorry!!

I'm working on a popper out of fleece - my first, but to get alova suede and even the non-stretch fleeve I found is hard, that's why I signed up to do an ami, although I've only just learned since last October, I have all the supplies.

I've never made one of alova. My first was fleece from a baby blanket, my 2nd was faux velvet and my 3rd was some kind of knit that felt like fleece on one side - for the mini poppet swap, which my partner was happy with.  People have also used felt and other materials with much success.  I like the feel of the fleece, and it was fun to work with!

Important Update

At this point we're halfway through the sign-up period, and the numbers are pretty lopsided.  I hope that more poppeters will join us, but I wanted to discuss a back-up plan as well.  If we still have uneven numbers at the end of sign-ups, this is what I propose happen:

1.  Ilianora has volunteered to make a poppet as well as an ami, so she will have one poppet partner and one ami partner.

2.  Some of those poppeters who said in the questionnaire that they would take two partners will be assigned two partners.  Those poppeters who said they would are as follows: lukenlarry, ClonedBravo, lanikins, FoxyBlue, and kwiltykate.  I would appreciate it if you would all confirm (here or by PM) that you would indeed still be interested in having 2 partners.  Not all of you will have two partners, however, based on where you and the ami crafters are willing to ship to. I will also have two partners.

3.  I will take a poll of those crafting for two people, and will extend the send-out date by two weeks if there is interest in doing so.

Thanks guys!!!

P.S.  If any of you poppeters want to get a headstart, I would recommend making the limbs ahead of time.  I've done this for a swap before, and currently have four legs and two arms already finished for this one.  None of the crocheters have asked for something really strange that wouldn't work with regular poppet limbs, so feel free to get crafting if you want!

Yes, if you PM me the questionnaire, I can put you on the waiting list.  But unfortunately it's not looking like we'll be able to expand the sign-ups.

If you're over the age of 16, we'd love to have you! (I don't know how old you are, but it's a craftster rule that you have to be 16+ to swap). And you wouldn't have to do 2 - I think we have it covered.  If you'd like to sign up, just copy and past the questionnaire from the 1st page into a personal message, answer the questions, and send it to me with a cc to Ilianora.

Thanks for stopping by!

And I was really vauge on the questionair but after seeing the amazing steampunkdoll (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=351435.0) on hottest new topics I really want a steampunk one. The poppeters are so amazing! And even more so when they say yes to two partners! :D

I just sent in my form to make a poppet.  I made my daughter one for Christmas.  It wasn't too hard to make the body.  Attaching the hair didn't work like I thought - hot glue gun (blah).  I never got a chance to make her any clothes - my daughter caught me making it and absconded with it before I could make any!  Miss Mousy is still nekked.

Ghilie and SMLounsbury, I'm fine with you guys self-partnering.  Just make sure you PM each other and are okay with shipping to each other's locations, and don't have allergy issues.

beth8144, unfortunately you can't sign up for multiple swaps until you've completed your first one, and being an angel doesn't count for your first swap - see here: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=111036.msg1247446#msg1247446 (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=111036.msg1247446#msg1247446).  I'm sorry!

One more day!!!  ;D

FYI, on the first page, I listed spaces for 15 poppeters to sign up, since we have 3 crocheters on the "waiting list."  If more than 12 poppeters sign up, I will admit the people on the waiting list in the order that they sent me their PM.

A big thank you to all the poppeters who said they would craft for two people! As it stands, with only one less poppeter than crocheter, I will take on two partners instead of having to decide which one of you lovely crafters would be so burdened! Of course, if we get any more poppeters signed up, that won't be necessary.

In preparation for partner assignments tomorrow...  If you sent me a PM and I haven't responded, please kindly re-send and give me a little nudge.  If the linky on the first page doesn't connect to your profile properly, or if the "in progress" swap status doesn't show in your profile, or if I approved you and your name isn't listed in the participants, please PM me!

OMG, my hubby had bad migraines too and ended up with accupuncture being the only thing that helped him.  He suffered for a good 10 years before he found accupuncture though.

I think your PM to me might be lost in cyber space; my message folder isn't showing any new message.  Is there anyway you could resend?

Hi everybody!

Everybody should have received a PM with their partner info by now.  The information is also on the first page.  If you didn't receive a PM, or if there is something wrong with it, please let me know.

The "weekly check-in" starts tomorrow. How this works is, there's a list of everybody's name on the first page.  When you post a comment, I'll cross your name out like this.  If you don't check-in for a given week, your name will instead be red, and then I will hunt you down.  ;) The check-in doesn't have to be much - just a comment letting your partner and the organizers know the status of your crafting for this swap.

Have fun everybody! I know I'm SUPER excited to get started! I found a really awesome technique online today, and I can't wait to try it on the poppet I'm making for katara!

Please PM me with any questions or concerns, and remember to cc Ilianora!

Got my poppet parts traced (doing 2 poppets and an ami now, yay!) Will hopefully have them all sewn and cut out and start stuffing by tonight. I want to get as much done as I can in my 4 day weekend. Plus one really really super detailed poppet that I might cry over when I give it away. Both will be awesome. And that poor ami is on the side burner.

I'm glad people are pleased with their partners! It was really stressful trying to match everyone up!

I'm sort of ridiculously far on my poppet already.  I made arms and legs before partners since I thought I was going to be making two, and I made the head and sewed on half the hair last night. I'm so excited about what I'm making that it's a joy to work on! Unfortunately we're visiting family this weekend, so I won't have much time to work on it over the holiday. I'm goint to try to send early because this poppet will be traveling a LONG way to get to katara!

This is only my 3rd poppet and the first one with boobs for lani and my 4th poppet and first character poppet for noturavggeek. So this should be lots of fun. They're both sewn together but I forgot to add ears to one so I need to do a bit of seam ripping :( Hope the material holds up to it. It's fraying a bit more than I thought.

I did that on my last poppet! Except I actually forgot until after the head was sewn on. I ended up just gluing the ears on.

I've made three boobie poppets, and I always have to follow the tute because the pieces don't make any sense to me until they're sewn up!

The material I'm using is fraying really bad and is getting a few pulls because my old sewing machine is cranky and hates it. I also can't seam rip this stuff or it frays more and leaves huge holes so I'm having a few issues with one poppet. I love the ears because for each poppet I usually design a new one so I was so unhappy that I needed to make a new head. Also forgot to watch how the stretch was in the fabric but I might be able to work with it.. Oh my poppeting woes.

Perhaps a different size needle might work better.  You might even need a ball point needle like they used to use for the polyester knit fabrics.  Also a longer stitch on your machine might make it easier to rip out seams.

I need to re-do my poppet. I didn't pay attention to the stretch and there's about a 3 inch difference between the length of the legs and a 1 inch difference in thickness. Really funny looking, but I've learnt my lesson. And if I get these both finished this weekend I might sign up for another swap, weeee.

So, after digging around my craft room for an hour, I found pattern pieces.  Four arms, one leg, 2 bodies and one head front - still haven't found the head back.  I even found the arm pattern with the hand on it, so I went ahead and made a couple of them...

Also, why is it that beautiful fabric is also a pain in the ass?  Can't I have fabric that is both beautiful and a joy to sew?

Yes...it seems like all the poppet-eers are well on their way.  I haven't even started yet.  I was searching for patterns and I found a few.  I am choosing one of them and I have to search my stash to see if I have all the necessary yarn, if not, it's off to the stores for me.  This pattern I chose looks like it involves a lot of work so I really better get crackin'.

This is my second poppet, and the one thing I have learned is that once you start, you don't want to stop.  I took Friday off, and I'm not working today either, so luckily I have had plenty of time to work on it.  The further I get, the more I want to keep going!!!

I΄ve been crotcheting for three days straight and is about halfway I think. I might have been overly ambitious with my choice of pattern, but it΄s turning out so cool, so I just keep going.

Although I haven't started my project yet, I think I might have been overly ambitious with my choice of pattern also.  I managed to get most of my yarn colors together and I have to get started on it.  I think it's going to take a lot of time to get this done.

My poppets haven't been touched in a few days. I'm going to try to get it stuffed this weekend but I need those eyes to give them life so I don't have much of a drive till they're mailed. Got the book knitting mochimochi in the mail. Awesome knitted ami's and I found a pattern for lani that she'll LOVE! Ok then...so we are behind together!  I feel better then.  ;)

how can you be behind when it's only the 7th?

HAHA!  That's true.  Although, we're behind most of the rest of you, since it sounds like a lot of people have their poppets at least partially assembled.  I don't even know for sure what I'm making yet.

Hi everyone! Sorry for the delayed progress report. I'm at the lake without internet access (or phone access for that matter!). I had to boat over to my dad's island to use his computer!

Anyhow, I have my sewing machine here and am busily crafting away. My partner and I have established what we would like and am moving right along. I hope that's enough info for you all as this is my first organized swap and I've never had to do one of these! lol

Have fun everyone!

This seems to be a theme for me this swap.. Had lani's ami half finishes, then realized the purl bumps were on the outside and it was all wrong so I had to start over. After 2 hours of frusteration and messing with dpns and circs, I realized that my cast on method is completely wrong for the way I knit. FoxyBlue taught me how to cast on and she's a left hand knitter while I'm right so everything circular was coming out backwards!! Now that that's figured out I can start again....

*still not figured out.. does anyone know the solution to this problem?*

There are several ways to cast on for knitting.  Check out www.knittingpatterncentral.com, and check out the tutorial directory.  There are several different methods shown for casting on, and you'll be able to decide which one is easier/best suited to your project.  Good luck!

My poppet is completely finished.  I started right when I got my partner assignment, and had a 4 day weekend, so I was able to get her done in about a week!!! I have a few other things to get pulled together, so I will most likely be sending out next week.  ;D

Crafting away.... I really appreciate MamaRose starting this swap out early by swapping the east coast weather with west coast weather!! I'm really enjoying the 70 and 80 degree temps in July instead of triple digits!! Can actually sit outside during the day!!

Well it did cool down a bit out east, it dropped to under 100 degrees.  (LOL)
I started crocheting my project, and started the 2nd color of a particular part but ran out of yarn so I have to frog it.  I found another ball of yarn that I think may do the trick.  I have loads of yarn and I hate to buy more unless it's absolutely necessary.   I am running out of space to keep the stuff in.

There's a new check-in list on the first page for this week.

Just a reminder that everyone needs to post in this thread at least once a week to keep me, the co-organizer, and your partner apprised of your progress, and to assure us that you haven't dropped off the face of the earth!

It'll take me a day or so to make a poppet, leaving me plenty of time to make the outfit.
I'm starting after the weekend camping trip.

lol, yes you are quite prolific.  For me, poppet progress has ground to a halt after completing the poppet itself.  Clothes are hard!  They have to be exactly right, too.  The good news is that I found an extra outfit.  I ordered a dress off F2BM for my BJD about a year ago, and it didnt fit right, but it fits the poppet!

I found a pattern I will make work, I can't afford to be buying ne patterns at the moment, so it's all about adaptation.

I might start tonight, it's a project I can work on while sitting on the back deck.

I'm almost done the eleanor poppet for myself, but I think I still prefer the look of the original more, don't ask why I tried eleanor first.

I did the Eleanore pattern first too, because I was impatient and couldn't wait to have the pattern emailed to me (which actually only took a day or two).

Didn't get much done this weekend since I was busy, and next weekend if the bf's birthday weekend so I'm going to have to cram my poppet crafting into my 5 hours of food and cleaning before bad after work. Can do the ami in the car to and from work so it's at least 2 hours car crafting time. Love portable crafts. :D

I'm soooooo extremely super excited to get my package from lanikins. I can't wait! Hopefully it doesn't have any issues and gets here before I send out so I can see what awesome standards mine need to be up to. And steal techniques.

It seems I chose a very ambitious project for this swap.  I had 2 other patterns I was going to make until someone pointed me to this pattern.  It has a lot of components to it.  I am about 3/4 finished with the largest part of it.  I might be able to finish this part this evening (watching TV).  Then I can get on with doing the small parts.

So clearly I don't have a firm grasp of what a week is, since this week's check-in period was eight days long!  ::) Whoops. I'm going to put up a new one tomorrow that will go through next Wednesday, the 21st, then the last one will be from the 22nd until the send-out day, the 30th.  If for some reason you end of sending late (knock on wood), you need to keep me, Ilianora and your partner apprised of the situation on a regular basis, but you don't need to post here. Anybody who has sent isn't required to make the weekly check-ins, though of course we appreciate it if you visit!

It sounds like everyone is doing great so far! I can't wait for pictures!

I hate it when that happens.  My hands shake all the time, so this happens to me too.  I dont use superglue anymore because of this.  I also use regular elmers to apply the eyelashes cuz it dries clear.

I've never made a poppet before but I have had problems with gluing stuff with E600 (or whatever it is called) and some of it oozes out.  I started using tacky glue.  I think it holds better than Elmers.

I need to get back to crocheting my ami, there's only a couple body parts left then its stuffing and sewing together! Its been nuts, I've had to put the ami on hold to make baby shower and wedding gifts

I'll probably have it available on my blog next week.  hopefully someone with CAD access can clean it up for me... if not, then, pencil drawings and messy handwriting is what you guys get!

Me too! I packaged mine up this weekend, and it's going to be hard to say goodbye! I always like the ones I make for other people because I try a lot harder than when I'm crafting for myself.

Finishing off one item today and the poppet eyes came in today! Now to get my butt really into gear and finish up.
*note* Do not try to craft while hopped up on t3's. Trying to knit and tension is terrible, lots of mistakes and stabs.. I hope no one ever trys to sew (hand or machine) while on t3's.. Their poor project... so not a poppet day for me.

No transport to the post office for me today. My daughter was side swiped by a drunk and her car is in the shop. Everyone is fine, even the drunk. The kids said he sorta bounced!? Will keep everyone up to date when I finally get a ride into town. Sometimes living in the middle of bum flup nowhere is a pain. I have neighbors, but they don't speak English and the buses don't run here.

I have a party to plan, and another party where I volunteered to do some stuff, needless to say, ami is in need of being put together and clothed.  I got a job though! and ami is something I can take with so I'll probably do that next week.

I'm so happy that your daughter and family is Ok Sewhappy.  I hope they do something with the drunk.  But because no one was hurt, (except for the car) they probably will let him go with only a warning.

I thought I would post here too, in case anyone was interested.  This is what I've been doing instead of working on the poppet I SHOULD be working on.  Now that it's done, I can concentrate on the swap.

Introducing Punkin, Poppet's little cousin.

Punkin is designed to be cute with minimal work - there's no needle sculpting required, head and body are the same piece and the back of the head does not look weird without hair.  I am going to finish drawing up the pattern tonight and scan it at work tomorrow.

My poppet is moving right along and I LOVE her!!! Out of the three that I've made thus far, she is definitely my favourite!! I will hopefully have her done by today. Am I allowed to send early if I need to? I may be heading out to the lake again for a stretch, and if I do, I won't be able to ship on the end date. So is early ok??

I think once Mr. Hobbes is done and is in transit, I might pick up supplies to try a poppet or a punkin.  It's about time to conquer that fear.  Besides, it will probably go to my five year old, and she thinks everything I make (no matter how bad I bomb at it) is the best.

I don't if its for a kid.  i've used ribbon to stuff a tail before - makes it firmer but it wont break like a pipe cleaner might.

My Ami finally has a head! No ears yet tho, so my roommate and I agree it looks like a creature from Star Wars, hehe. I wasn't satisfied with the pattern I had for the head, so I redrafted it to look more realistic, and its sooooo much cuter now! I also went to Joann's to buy 32oz of fiber fill (Thank you 50% off coupons!), so just a couple more little body parts, a lot of stuffing and some assembling and it'll be done!

Nope! You made it in under the wire  ;)

The last "week's" check-in period starts today. Almost there! Make sure you let me, Ilianora and your partner know how you're doing.  When you send, remember to get a tracking number if you're shipping within the same country, and send that number to us and your partner.

I'm going to be in the mountains this weekend without internet access, so if you have any questions or problems, please contact Ilianora or a swap mod if needed.

Don't u just hate that? I'm sure she is going to be loved though so that should help to cheer u up. I know how you feel. Gonna have to try and make one for me too, but it never seems to happen....at least when there's a deadline it gets done!

Putting all the anxiety and doubts aside, I really think this poppet came out cute. I really hope amazing_784 feels the same once she gets it. I really had my doubts, and it really is a mix of all her answers on her questionnaire. Hopefully I chose to combine them to her liking!!! I have it pretty much done too, just shoes and hair and it shall be shipped!! That is if I can stop myself from adding details... ;)

I'm realizing how much I despise sewing Ami body parts together, lol. It took me 2 episodes of Bones last night to just get the head sewn on to the body! I'm trying to intersperse sewing body parts together and finish crocheting the rest so I don't get too frustrated ::)

I also hate the sewing. I ended up crotcheting one limb, sewing it to the body, crotcheting another, sewing it, and so on so I wouldn΄t have a mass of sewing to do in the end. It would΄ve made me go mad!

I'm so far behind and I'm sorry. Was going to poppet today but I'm tired after work and my knit picks package came today with two items broken. A ball winder so my bf doesn't have to listen to me curse for 2 hours trying to get a small ball unknotted had the handle broken clean off out of the package.. >.< <---angry face.
In other news....
I'm waiting for a call from my landlord tonight to let me know if we can get a holland lop bunny. House bunny's are soo cute and I can see it tomorrow. If he says no then definately no poppeting tonight. Saturday (if I can get the bunny) will be a happy day, even if there's no bunny it's a poppet day since the eyes are finally in!

Sorry for making you wait so long Lanikins, since you sent me that amazing package super early. I promise I won't disappoint either of my partners!

My niece loves her though, and I told her she has to get sent away and we'll get a different doll, her reply was "No aunty, I want a doll like this, and not a mermaid, a doll, I don't want a poppet" I guess I know what to make for her halloween gift:)

My creation is almost done!  I'm very happy with the way it's turning out.  ;D  The more I crochet without a pattern, the easier it gets.  I just have to make sure that if I'm making double of something (hands & legs) to do them on the same day so I don't forget what I've done.  I had to make 2 different sets of legs because the first pair weren't even.  I like the second pair much better!  I can't wait to send it off.  I hope my partner likes it!

The send-out deadline is in four days!  :o

Some things to keep in mind:
1. Take a picture of your items before you send. That way you can post them in the gallery if your partner can't take pictures, and post them on the craft boards as well if you so desire. If you don't have access to a camera, get in touch with your partner before you send to make sure they do. It is required that you post pictures in the gallery of the items you received (or arrange for your partner to post pics for you if you can't).
2. If you're shipping domestically (within your own country), you must get a tracking number, and send that number to your partner, myself and Ilianora.  There are usually options for getting a tracking number when you ship internationally, but they can be very expensive, so it's not required.
3. Send a PM to your partner and the organizers when you send your package and when you receive your package from your partner. There's nothing worse than wondering if the package you slaved lovingly over actually made it it's destination!
4. If you're waiting for feedback and it's been a couple days since your partner received, feel free to PM me with a reminder!

Hey I saw that someone use a Delicious Crochet pattern for the cow. I'm thinking of getting a few patterns but was wondering if anyone could tell me if they were in uk terms or american terms. Because I know the uk calls a single crochet a slip stitch and I would be totally messed up.

I just need to make and sew on the "right" ears and Hobbes will be on his way.  I've made about 10 pairs of ears so far and nothing looks "right."  I have nothing planned for today, so I will emerge with two ears before the day is over if it kills me.

Right now I am doing that with the clothing for your poppet!  So, she will come with a big wardrobe of not quite right outfits, lol.

I got most of the body assembly on my ami done last night! Still need to attach ears and and a tail and some pretty stuff, so it still looks like a creature from Star Wars, hehe.

Also need to find a box big enough for it  :-\

I'm glad you liked him!  It was a great pattern, I just wasn't sure if he'd turn out the way it looked on the pattern, but it did!  I have some pictures, I can post them if you want.  They are webcam pictures, but the colors show up pretty well and stuff.

I have the HARDEST time trying to find boxes to ship poppets! They're pretty small, but not small enough for shoe boxes, which I have a lot of! I scrounged around my work and got lucky this time with a box AND free packing peanuts and bubble wrap.

I often scrounge the aisles of supermarkets when they unpack and re-stock the shelves.  You can also get good boxes when they restock the drug stores.  When I receive me meds in the mail I save some of those boxes also.

Done ami's! Working on poppets still. I will either send Tuesday if the bf will lend me post money or Friday which is pay day. I feel so bad because I got behind but if you have to wait an extra week for me to send then it will be extra amazing! (Extra goodies included). I'll let you know on Tuesday if I was able to ship or not.

The 2 ami's are almost done!  I just need to stitch the one together.  I love the way the 2 turned out.  I so don't want to send them away.....  :'(  But I will, they have expressed how excited they are to go to their new home.  I will be sad to see them go.
My daughter loves them to.  I'm glad she is at her dad's and won't be here to whine when they leave.

Have you tried the priority mail shoe boxes (https://shop.usps.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10052&productId=10000612&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=10000002&top_category=10000002&categoryId=10000033&top=&currentPage=0&sort=&viewAll=Y&rn=CategoriesDisplay&WT.ac=10000612) from the post office? I usually mail stuff in shoe boxes too, but my feet are huge....lots of room for stuff ::)

You don't have to pay for them. I just ordered some, they're coming free of charge, no S&H or anything. And if I don't want to pay the flat rate fee when I ship, then I wrap the boxes in brown parcel paper, its usually only a couple bucks a roll. I also tend to use the parcel paper if I want to wrap gifts, draft patterns, create a coloring surface for my niece and nephew, etc.

**Edited: I'm not sure that these are actual "flat-rate boxes", I just know I didn't get charged when I ordered them online**

I used to get free priority mail boxes and turn them inside out so it didn't have to ship priority, but now they print the inside so you have to wrap it. One word of caution....my postal workers recognize the sizes of thier own boxes even wrapped and I was yelled at for it....so be careful!

Soooo!  Good news!  Last night, when I was making clothes and seeing how they were all not quite right, I finally asked the doll.  Goodness, that sounds weird, but that's what I did. I asked what her name was and she told me her name was Petri.  And then it all fell into place.  So I am ready to ship it off on Moday - now I just have to find a box.

My ami from Mamarose22 made it to Des Moine, Iowa today! Only 1,648 more miles to travel!!  Mine to Mamarose still has 2,763 miles to travel. They are going to be so weary when they arrive. Although the one I'm sending does have someone to talk to on her trip...........Oh! Did I just drop another clue?? Must be more circumvent in my replies......

Don't worry about your ami being lonely, Sewhappysue.  He/she has company and a place to sleep along the way. Hint.  Hint.

Hi ladies!

We've made a lot of progress in the last few days, and I just updated the list on the first page of the gallery, and gave feedback for everyone whose partner has confirmed receipt of their package. Please take a look at that list, and at your profile if your package has been received, and let me know if I've missed you. Please remember to let me know via PM when you receive your package, so I can give your partner positive feedback.

I think we're also waiting on some pictures...  ;)

I'm heading out today for another weekend without internet access, so if you need immediate help, please contact Ilianora.  I'll read my PMs on Sunday evening or Monday morning.

Nice Amis.  Who sent them CraftyWereWolf?  Perhaps you should post this in the gallery.

I posted her in the gallery, I love her, my niece doesn't though:( but for the cutest reason ever. "She is nice aunty, but I don't love her because you didn't make her, if you made one for me I would love her then", lol, thanks to CLM a cow poppet is on the way:)

Hi ladies! If you're out there... just wanted to let you know that Ilianora's packages have been received by her partners, so the swap is officially finished! There might be some more posts in the swap gallery though. Thank you everybody for a great swap!

Technically, this swap is round #3.  I was in the Poppet/Amigurumi swap in 2010.  I thought it was more recent but just checked it out.
