Communication is vital for an enjoyable swap! Please post in this thread at least once a week so that we can all stay in touch. Remember: The more details that you put in your questionnaire the more likely you are to receive a package you love and the easier it will be for me to match you up with someone who can make you happy.

Another little note:
Swappers will receive temporary negative feedback if:
-it is one week past send-outs and you are out of communication
-it is two weeks past send-outs and you have not yet sent, regardless of the communication with us and your partner.

Communicate often to your partner and in this thread, and I will send occasional PMs to make sure that everyone is on track. We want no flakers please!

And you *must* PM me & your partner when you receive. Also, you must post pictures of what you received in the gallery. If you do not have access to a camera, please let your partner know so that they can take photos before they send and can post in the gallery for you. It is recommended that you take photos anyway in case things get lost in the post!

Most important of all................ ........... HAVE FUN AND ENJOY SOME Baby CRAFTY-LOVE!

I have a nine month old boy...who is a size of a 12 month old (he's a biiiiiiig boy).  Does he count?  When I think "new baby" I think of newborns, not infants...

If he counts, I'm in!

Let me be the first to introduce myself.

I am a mom of six soon to be seven (January 2011). I breast feed, hate strollers, and cloth diaper (surprisingly easier than disposable I recently found out). We have 3 boys and 3 girls so either way we are happy. We live in Southeaster North Carolina just moments from the beach. Oh and we are homeschoolers, college students, and small business owners.

I think I will fill out the questionnaire later today.  I am pregnant with my second and while I was super into baby #1 and we planned for baby #2, I am just too busy lately to feel connected to this wonderful human being growing inside of me.  I am due in October and we are waiting to find out gender, as we did with little mister.  Anyway, maybe getting some crafts specially made for this baby would make it all feel real.  I just keep forgetting that I am pregnant and I am more than half way done.  Anyway, way too much mama guilt.  In short, I am excited for this swap and will be signing up later!

Not only will this be my first swap, but this is the first little one as well. I'm due in January 2011 and super excited to find out what we're having just so I can get crafting away. I'm planning on breastfeeding and later on making my own baby food.. However, with this being the first baby I could very well just get tired and end up buying baby food. My goal is to do as much as I can myself to not only cut down on general costs but to give my baby as healthy as possible of a start in life.
I already have some ideas of what to make my buddy, so I'm just waiting for our assignments!

As long as you have a blender or food processor and some ice cubes, making our baby food was probably about 20 min a week and so much cheaper and healthier with less waste in landfills.  While some choices definitely take extra time, I think they are worth it.  We cloth diaper and while baby is a month old or so or while we were traveling, we used disposables.  Just do what you can do and don't be too hard on yourself for lapses.  Really the first few months are about trying to enjoy them while being completely exhausted beyond recognition.
Anyway, I am super excited for the swap and I am hoping it might make baby #2 feel more real.  It is hard to focus on this baby while I have an active curious toddler already!

:)  I am not pregnant, nor am I going to take part in this swap (wish I was both, though... :-\), but when I saw the comments about homemade baby food vs. store bought, I really wanted to share my experience.  My son is 16 years old now, and we had a really old pediatrician for him.  When it was time to start my son on solid food, the pediatrician suggested that we just modify whatever we were eating (i.e.-not too spicy, make it smooth, etc...) and feed it to our son; reasoning that even if I fed my son storebought baby food to begin with, at some point, I would still need to help him learn to eat regular "people" food sooner or later.  Conversely,  I have custody of my two nieces, which came to live with us when they were seven months old, and already on storebought baby food.  It was more convenient as far as when we went out somewhere (i.e.-didn't need to worry about heating up the food), but in the long run it was more expensive and more time consuming (i.e.-trip to the store, running out of food, choosing the food, spending the money on it...).  If I had to do it again, I would just feed another child what we were eating.

As an aside, the "big box" baby stores sell this nifty item where the bottom looks like a pacifier and the top has a mesh "bag" where you can put food in that the baby is too young to eat in it's regular state (i.e.-a wedge of a peach), but when put in the mesh bag, the baby can chew on it, and get safely sized pieces of it thru the small holes in the mesh as he/she chews on it.  I loved that thing, and used it with both my girls (it wasn't available 16 years ago!).

I am hoping to sign up, too (expecting baby #3 in late January or early February), but I have to wait for feedback on my first swap, first, which is currently en route.  So hopefully we won't fill up *too* fast. :)

I'm in....

Are there any expecting mommies that plan to cloth diaper?  Would you be up for hand-me-downs?

We are done at 2 kids so I've got CDs to pass on. Have what I bought for my little man who is 2 year plus hand-me-downs from not 1 but 2 mommies and my little girl has started growing out of the premie (hum, ok 3 mommies) & NB...so I'll have plenty of extra padding for the box if my partner can use them.  LOL, 1 fitted with matching pants has been through 2 craftster babies already  :D

I would. ;)  We cloth diaper, and most of our diapers seem to have dry-rotted after the first baby (in storage), so by the time baby #2 was done with them, they were really done. lol  They are literally in shreds!

Knittychick, your little guy is adorable!

Thank you so much! He's a little cuddle bug, always loves being held and snuggled, which I love! I can't believe he's already two months. In some ways it feels like he should be older and in some ways it feels like he's too old already!!! He's our first and even though things have been a little rough from time to time he's been a total joy.

I am due in Dec and thinking about switching to cloth.  I have a 2 yo that I am getting close to potty training and am ready to be done with disposables.  I have been starting to do some research and am feeling very overwhelmed with it all.  I want to make most if not all of them to save on costs.  Not sure where to start, there is sooo much info out there!
I think I wrote a whole essay on this in my sign ups.   ;D

My cloth diapers have been so worth the $300 I paid for them. I love my bamboo diapers unfortunately we no longer have a supplier here anymore and I need a second set for the new baby...

If we had a fabric store nearby I would probably make them but what we call a fabric store in this town thought I was insane when I asked about PUL

I see someone who is due July 4th and then everyone else is 6 months later. I haven't been in a swap for a long time and I always get nervous about if I will be able to do it. I am due early August. Someone convince me if I will be able to get everything done. I know I am being a little silly because my work ended two weeks ago, so no more work for me until school starts in the fall.

Ultrasound was today to determine how old baby is......... 11 weeks 6 days. Baby is due january 6th, 2011.

On an organizer note

please pm me if you have animals or smoke and please tell me what type of animals I forgot this on the questionaire.

I am already tentatively partnering you ladies, please bear with me. With the mix of internationals, new babies and levels of preganancy in this swap it is very interesting trying to get you all paired.

For those of you offerring handme downs please be open to not getting a partner that may be able to use them due to allergies and shipping (international) Ladies wishing to personal swap these items may do so at their own risk outside of this swap.

As you are are deciding pairs, I just wanted to let you know that I personally don't care if I am crafting for a new baby or a baby on the way.  So I don't think you have to pair people up based on baby status, I would rather be paired by other preferences.  I am super excited to get partners so I can make plans and all that!

I am not pairing based on status of infant/pregnant I promise but man you should see some of the questionnaires I have received.

I am having to consider

Christians who don't do Pagan
Pagans who won't craft Christian
Allergies
Shipping locations

and people like me who only have goth in their stash of baby stuff (my girls wear Day of the Dead Dresses)
people who won't like goth
people who seem very very hard to pair
and then those who are just happy to be crafting

Please no one hang me from your knitting/sewing when the lists come out

Gratefully Your Organizer

I'm Pagan and would love Pagan themed baby items but I'm more than happy to craft for anyone, regardless of religion.  ;)

Just to clarify, since my questionnaire is probably one of those religious pain-in-the-butt ones... I am totally comfortable crafting for anyone of any religion; I just prefer that the religious symbols/themes not be part of the crafts themselves.  I think I could make - or someone could make for me - diapers or diaper bags or whatever without buddhas or crosses or whatever being involved in those crafts. ;)  So unless they're actually requesting religious-themed items, don't worry about pairing me up based on that.  That stuff is totally just listed in my questionnaire so someone doesn't choose a fabric with that theme for my items, or something.

actually yours isn't acyually one of the hard ones, I have a few craftsters I have actually had to turn down because of the rude, offensive nature of their questionaires such as

I won't craft for a boy.....
If she doesn't know what she is having I can't craft for her.....
Christian partner only, I don't want anyone sending my child their satanic crafts....
and the like

Somedays I wonder what craftster has come too

I think with some honest communication and all of us thinking of being a loving crafting community (regardless of taste, religion, gender, or parenting style)-I know we can pull out some amazing love for all these brand new people.  Meanwhile, dragonslair, don't let any negativity rain on your baby parade!

Wow.  :o  Well, I'm glad to know I'm not being a troublemaker, anyway.  I like to be sure my partners know what will be loved and appreciated when it gets here!  But, sheesh, it is really possible to "live and let live" and not make an issue of everything.

I wouldn't craft religious theme stuff anyways.  That's a subject I don't want to get caught in the middle of.

On the lighter note...I just brought Leo to his 9 month check up and he weighs 22.8 pounds and is 28" tall.  My doctor told me that I should invest Leo to become a football player. LOL. He's biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig.

almost made it without signing up...but my addiction got the better of me!  that and, despite the fact that it has carused problems for the organizer :(, i love seeing all of the diversity out here and i would be more than happy to craft for anyone.  i may just learn something in the process!  i'm due with my third oct. 5 and intrigued by the thought of cloth diapering.  a little hesitant, but wanting more and more to give it a shot.

two questions:
organizer dear, does it throw off your partnering plans if i join now?  if so, just let me know and that's fine.  i will stalk the gallery and wait until next time. ;)

and for any of you who have used cloth, have any used it just part time?  it sounded like it from some responses and i'm wondering if that's an option...and any suggestions you have on what style/brand/method to start with are greatly appreciated.  i took notes as i read through this thread.

I've been stalking but unfortunately I'm going to have to pass. I just know that swapping eats up so much of my crafting time and I already have a laundry list of projects waiting for my own little boy.

Ah well, I'll stalk the gallery and maybe join the next one!

We didn't use them part-time, but I don't see why you couldn't.  (A lot of people, for instance, use cloth at home and disposables away from home.)  As for what style to start with...that depends on what your primary goal is.  Most significantly, is price your biggest factor, or is ease of use a bigger factor?  (The ones that work most like disposables, with fewest parts and pieces, are also by far the most expensive.)  The only ones I would not recommend starting with are flats (way too much folding involved for my taste) or discount-store prefolds (they have polyester in them - since when is polyester absorbent?!).  Gdiapers also look intriguing.  They have reusable outers and disposable/flushable/compostable inners.  But they're pretty pricey, IMO.

Since I am a SAHM, we use mostly cloth diapers, Bumgenius 3.0 since I didn't want to mess up making them (I was newer at sewing then.  We did get a sale on seconds, which means there might have been a small sewing error to fix or a slight discoloration to make them half off.  It has worked for us really well.  If we are out for a longer afternoon or away from home, we use disposables and we did for the first month and a half since I was sleep deprived and didn't want to spring for a smaller size.  OUr bumgenius ones adjust so they fit 9-35ish pounds.  Our almost 2 year old, very tall boy is still in them.  Since I started using them, about 6 of our friends have started and love them.  And they are now spreading the word.  Anyway, feel free to pm me if you have any questions so we don't eat up board space too much, but I am a believer and love it.  As a side note, one of my best friends just had her third and decided to do cloth with this one, after a month, she is very excited about the difference.

gdiaper liners are supposed to be flushable but many minicipalities systems can't handle them, plumbers hate them for the fact that they can wreak havoc on the lines coming from the house. Several companies put out a flushable liner (rice or otherwise) that is no thicker than toilet paper comes in a roll of 100 that you can lay in the regular cloth diapers that will keep the solid of the cloth. (From personal experience these work wonderfully.) These 'paper" liners http://nickisdiapers.com/catalog.php?category=262 (http://nickisdiapers.com/catalog.php?category=262) do not wreak havoc on the sewage system and do not require a swish stick like the gdiapers do.

Bummis also has wonderful diaper covers!! They are what we use with our bamboozles (also by Bummis) http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000PY67G2/ref%3Dasc_df_B000PY67G21149645/%3Ftag%3Daskcomel-20%26creative%3D380333%26creativeASIN%3DB000PY67G2%26linkCode%3Dasn (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000PY67G2/ref%3Dasc_df_B000PY67G21149645/%3Ftag%3Daskcomel-20%26creative%3D380333%26creativeASIN%3DB000PY67G2%26linkCode%3Dasn)

Plus I liked when one of our bamboozles broke a snap (they fit newborn to potty training in the same size) Bummis has a warranty. They sent me a new one immediately, with an apology that the snap was "substandard quality"

All I have left is my small item. I want to make a second of one of my items, but that will be after I complete the requirements.

Let me say that the next time I make something that needs snap tape I will invest in a good snap setter. It seems silly to get one now, but for the next project I will.

Just checking in!  I just started crafting for my partner this week after finishing up (I think!) my package for the FOC swap.  I've got 50% of the medium done, the small picked out and I'm still twiddling around on the large item.  I need to get started on the large item soon, though, if I'm to be finished by the send date... Knitting takes forever!  :-\

August 15th would be awesome for me, as my partner finds out in a few days if she's having a boy or girl, and that would give me lots of "after the news" crafting time.

I'm fine with extending the deadline, but don't need the time myself. I ran into a little issue with my large item that's caused me to take a little more time than I expected. I'm determined to get my packaged mailed by the end of this week, if not sooner. My medium is done, and my large is 3/4 done. The small practically makes itself!

Happy Crafting Everyone!!

i would gladly take the extra crafting time!  i could be done in time, but i could have a lot more fun by august 15th!  i just finished a swap package, but all three of my others have sendouts near the end of the month.  if this one were later i could add a few more items from my list of potential items to my crafting list...i have so many ideas for my partner! :D

Apparently since becoming pregnant the household decided I cannot do anything by myself..... including taking a nap.
Now let it be said I have 4 kids here at home (2 w/ Dad in Virginia) 3 dogs, 1 cat, and a pack of ferrets. Ordinarily I nap alone or with my chihuahua dachshund mix, but apparently I need more help now....

I wonder if he can sew......

On a swap note the shipping date has been moved to August 15, 2010 to allow us all a little more breathing room.

Ohhh extra craft time!  Nice!  Yeah, lets not stress out the momma to be's and give them more time so they can pace themselves.  It also gives the momma's with babies extra time since time is never on our side since our babies are always in need of our dire attention.  Especially me now since my boo bear just started crawling!  Good for him! Trouble for me!  LOL.

Extra time is awesome! I was actually startingto get worried that my material I ordered wouldn't be here in time for me to sew. Now there should be no worries!

Thanks, I was planning on trying to make sure things were done before vacation, but this will actually make it easier for me since I was going to try to make it to the post in between the 12 hour break between trips.  And I might attempt some extra goodies!
By the way, on a separate uncrafting note, I am happy to report that after failing my first glucose screening test, and taking the long 4 hour one, I am not gestationally diabetic, which is good because my husband is a type 1 diabetic and really worried about the baby and me, but also because I just crave milk chocolate this whole pregnancy!  Yay for weird pregnancy issues that bring beautiful babies into the world!

When I was pregnant with my second baby, I knitted while waiting during my doctor's appointments.  Lets just say I had a lot of scarves made for Christmas :)

Also I noticed I started a trend there. LOL.  More girls are starting to knit while they wait.  Instant knitting circle!

WhenI was pregnant with # 3 I had some heart issues and had to be seen by many many specialists. My appointments lasted all day so I'd bring my cross stitching and crochet with me. One time I even attempted knitting! All I got were weird looks from all the other women in the waiting room. :D

That's exactly what I need - more breathing room.  My lungs are starting to feel squished and I get out of breath so easily!  ::)

and i'm right there with you...i had my glucose screen yesterday.  i hate that stuff.  it wouldn't be so bad if they could somehow suck it all out of my system after the test.  i just felt like i was bouncing off the walls most of the day.  :P

During my long 4 hour glucose screening, I got caught up on my all my scrapbook journaling for the year, so it wasn't a total loss. Anyway, while I definitely feel more pregnant and uncomfortable this pregnancy compared to my last one 2 years ago, I am doing my best to enjoy it and it does seem to come with an urge to get everything done, including crafting all the Christmas presents before baby arrives in October, so I am not having to do it dead tired with a newborn.

Wow my large is taking a lot of energy, it's going faster than I thought it would, but still... one of my other project just needs finishing, one i haven't even started yet, but it doesn't look too difficult. I just hope I'm right cause I've never done this one before.

It is a clear indicator you have had too many babies when you can make booties from memory. There is no chance of crocheting here while I wait.......... the nurses get aggravated ft we even read. We are supposed to be quiet and invisible.

I must have a pretty good office that I go to because I don't even have time to sit and grab a magazine to read before I'm off to the office room with a nurse. My first appointment with an ultrasound only took 45 minutes and my last to hear the heart beat I was in and out in 30.

that's lousy.  i wish i could share my doctor with you!  (but i guess that would be a bit of a drive, huh?)  although we do have slow starts too...if there is no history of complications they don't even schedule my first appt until 12-16 weeks.  but i had an appt yesterday and my next is in 3 weeks...that means i'm in the home stretch!

This is why I love having a midwife. Total personalized care and no waiting. :) Going through specialist was horrible though. I'd wait all day for my appointment and they'd send me from one person to another when I finally did get in. yuck..

My doctor set me up with my first appointment at 9 weeks( that was only because I requested a later appointment because I was out of state ) and my last one just a week ago at 13 weeks. They've scheduled my next one for 19 weeks to find out the gender.

What's with that?  Can you not see anyone else?
I have my 3rd appt on Thursday and I am 18 weeks.  It would have been last week but I am extremely low risk and asked to have my appts spaced further apart.  The only risk i have right now is not making it to the hospital on time.  I was in labor for 5 hours with my daughter, and my son was 3 hours of labor (and that includes pushing!).  So we are a bit worried that I will have an unplanned home delivery.

Crafting is coming along.  I haven't started the large yet because I am waiting for a pattern to come in.  I will give it a few more days and then I might just try to wing it....

My first was a 3 hour labor and that was with pushing too, so the doctor said to get into the hospital ASAP with this one.  I also strongly recommend putting carseats in a month in advance.  We had to do it during contractions since I was the only one who knew how to do it and Isaac was a week and a half early!  It was a funny story though.  I was pushing on the base to get it secure and then would have to pause for a contraction!  LOL.

If you just plan to do it at home in the first place, then timing is not an issue. ;)

Seriously, with my second I woke up in labor and 2 hours later had a baby in my arms.  We figure it was a really good thing we'd planned to birth at home, anyway, or we'd have been panicking!  (Esp. b/c the hospital closest to us didn't do obstetrics, so it would have been an hour drive.)

i mentioned this to my sil (who is an ob/gyn...and i didn't mention names or anything) and she was shocked.  she said that's not even okay and most doctors prefer not to take patients who haven't been seen by then because they have had no prenatal care and it's a riskier situation.  now, granted, that is just one opinion...but it really doesn't seem right.  do you have any other options?

and as far as the crafting goes...i am so glad you extended our deadline!  not because i'm behind, but because it opened up so many more possibilities for me!  i had a long and relatively sleepless night so i did a bunch of crafting last night on an item that is turning out to be kind of a large (timewise anyway) but is really an extra for your younger ones to share (hope that works out better at your house than at mine, otherwise you can decide who gets it) ;) :D

*high five* to homebirth! I love telling people I had Violet in my own bed. :) I planned a homebirth with all my kids and she was the one to finally arrive at home.:)

I had a very quick labour too so I think even if I had planned to go to the hospital I probably would have had her in the car. lol

Crafting-wise, I have completed part of my medium, started one of two things I'm considering  smalls and waiting for fabric to make my large. I have a few other things on my list 2 but one of them needs a serger so I need to find the time to go to my mother-in-law's place to use her awesome serger. :) I'd use it for everything I sew but I just don't have enough time in my day.  :D I think I need a serger of my own.

You know, people have said I was brave for having a home birth but the reality is I really hate needles! I think you're brave for having an epidural. My fear of needles definately outweighs the pain.  :D

That is crazy! I had my first appointment at nine weeks, it was "early", but I don't know what the "regular" time frame is. However, my husband and I do joke that these appointments are all jokes, because nothing ever happens, everything has been going completely fine. He says "couldn't we just call the doctor every month and report?" And for my pregnancy I think it would have made as much sense as seemingly time wasting monthly appointments.

See I'm just one of those strange people who can convince herself that pain is only mental... I just zone now. With my first one I was screaming for drugs it wasn't until after she was born that they told me that the pitocin they routinely give moms in labor increases pain........ and that the"pain killers" only stop the transmission of nerve signals to the brain.... I worry some days maybe medicine has come too far when we start playing with nerve transmitters

I rather not endure the natural birth.  But then who knows...since I never had it, I'm only fearing the unknown.  However, I do know all about epidurals :)  It's really a stingy burning sensation and you can feel like some kind of liquid of fire running down your back.  That's the tube.  When the epidural kicks in, it's a cold liquid cooling your back down and all of a sudden you can't move your legs...

So when I heard I was pregnant...these are the things that ran through my mind:
1) No sushi or oysters for nine months or more!!! (was contemplating on breast feeding. First kid rejected the boobs completely)
2) I love sleeping on my back and belly.
3) Keeping coffee to a limit.  Let alone caffine in general.
4) Did I mention no sushi, sashimi, or raw oyster?!  These are a few of my favorite things............

But what I feared the most when I found out I was pregnant (I found out on my fourth week) was the IV and the epidural.  I fear needles too.  I got stabbed by the IV needles like three times with my second kid.  I honestly think IV is more painful than the epidural.  I know I didn't swear when I got my epidural like I did with my IV...

i think it's interesting how different everyone's experiences are.  I had no epidural with my first.  He was 9lbs 130z.  While I won't say there was no pain, looking back it was a positive experience.
With my second I opted for the epidural (like i said, the first time wasn't bad, but I did have an almost ten pound baby... ;)) he ended up being 7lbs 4oz.

After trying it both ways I personally felt that I was able to enjoy the experience much more with the epidural.  It wasn't bad without, but there's a point where I felt a lot more numb with that one and I think I tuned out a lot.  I remember every bit of the second.  And I still had plenty of feeling at the end so I knew when to push and I absolutely felt him being born.

And as far as the epidural itself, i felt a tiny prick when they gave me the shot to numb the area.  (seriously, less than a blood draw or an IV by leaps and bounds) and then nothing else except the impression that I was sitting in a vat of warm gravy. ;)  I didn't even feel pressure when the tube went in...nothing.  I told him to let me know when he was doing it so I would know to sit still and he laughed because it was already in.

And I'm really missing my sushi too! :D

I am working on finishing the large.

I do feel sorry for most of you missing out on food loves.

I honestly have to say.... with this being baby #7 I eat what I am not supposed to, drink caffeine religiously and figure women had babies for thousands of years without doctors telling them what they shouldn't have.   But then again pregnant Japanese moms eat sushi......

I know that certain types of fish are ok to eat...cooked.  Raw was a big no no.  I'm told Japanese people in Japan really don't eat sushi as much as we think.  Just us Americans love the sushi. (This is being told by my Japanese husband...).  Anywho, I bet you the level of mercury isn't as bad over in Japan than over here.  Majority of the fishes we eat are farmed raised (where the mercury level will be higher than caught from the ocean).  Then there the fishies who eat other fishies (like shark...who eats sharks?).  They would have like double the mercury level!

OMG, I forgot to add rare steak.  Well done steaks are just horrible for me.  I love me some rare steak.  That was a no no too. :(  I think I've done my due.  I'm gonna say two kids is enough.  Unlimited rare steaks and sushi......here I come!!!!

Note...guys don't go through this kind of stuff.  Grrr.

Yeah, I love my coffee.  I have a coworker who feels the need to remind me on a regular basis that I should not be drinking it.  I have to admit that it doesn't make me feel even the slightest bit guilty.  In fact, it usually just reminds me that it's time to fill up my cup.  ;)
I drink less than normal, but don't deprive myself.
We were just laughing about the difference between your first pregnancy and any consecutive ones (for a lot of people, anyway)

Note...guys don't go through this kind of stuff.  Grrr.

On this note, while i have often thought "grrr" at this too, I realized during this pregnancy that I would prefer this to the thought of dealing with most men i know pregnant.  I would rather be pregnant myself than deal with their pregnancy complaints!   :D  (small consolation, though :-\)

The fabric I was waiting for came ! Woohoo! I think it's so pretty and I hope knittychick does too. ;) Now I just need to make the time to get down to business.

BTW I LOVE sushi! I ate  rolls with no raw fish while I was pregnant but I ate A LOT!!!  ;D

Good point.  I if I had to hear my hubby complain about his pregnancy, I'll stab my ears with knitting needles.  He's absolutely horrible when he's sick.  To think what he'll be like for nine whole months!  LOL.

I know, right?  It's one of the first valid reasons I have come up with for what we go through.   ;)

I just confirmed with my partner that she got my package & she'll be posting pictures soon (hopefully today!). I'm wondering if I can expect to get feedback right away or does everyone get it at the same time at the end? I'm anxious to sign up for another swap!!!

I got my "small" finished.  Halfway done with the "medium" and the large I'll probably work next week.  My upcoming weekends are swamped with summer activities.  I've been working on my "medium" project at work too (during lunch time) and I've gotten alot of positive reaction.  I'm really excited to be working on stuff for a girl this time because I have two boys and they don't look that good in pink.  I stuck a pretty flower hair clip on my youngest just to see if people will mistaken him for a girl...nope.  He looks like a boy with a pretty pink flower hair clip on.  LOLOL.  Oh my boys are gonna love the photo album of embarrassing pictures when they get older!

I'm sorry I should have told you all I would be out of state yesterday for a child custody hearing on my oldest 2 children. B the way he lost....... he was trying to stop me from having any contact with them until they turned 18. Says my daughter "acts up" after talking to her mom, said she punches herself in the face. The judge told him and his atty he had no grounds to keep them from their mother... I honestly believe this was his way of punishing me for having authorities check on my children when I couldn't reach them due to them being grounded for telling me they were being mistreated.

On a swap note the gallery has opened...https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=354349.0 (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=354349.0)

I am glad to hear that that didn't go through.  Hard enough to be away from your babies, but the idea of no contact?  :-\

I am crafting away...it's fun because I'm in a few swaps currently, but they are all swaps that I am having a lot of fun crafting for (not to mention no shortage of ideas) so it doesn't feel overwhelming...just makes me wish i didn't have to come to work every day!  ;)

Dragonslair, I'm glad things went your way.  Your ex needs to grow up and not use the kids like that!  They got grounded for telling you they were being mistreated?  Wow.  I'm glad the court saw it your way.  My friend have two girls and lost a horrible divorce battle with her ex.  She have two girls with him and she's stuck paying child support to her ex because he's jobless (and he doesn't want to work either).  I nicknamed her Goldie Hawn.  Her deal with her ex was to pay certain amount of money to him for child support and alimony.  They both have half custody. AND she's stuck paying his lawyer bills (which is probably the reason why he got the better lawyer...knowing he won't pay for it).  I just got wind that he's serving her papers to get more money for child support.  Divorce is such a nasty battle, especially with kids involved.

You guys are cracking me up - what with imagining the cops showing up to investigate a "domestic dispute" report and finding a woman in labor, pregnant husbands, etc.

And Dragonslair, I'm glad to hear your ex lost that battle.  What a pain.  :-[

I am still making minor progress here.  Hoping to really buckle down this coming week. (My sister is getting married this weekend, so that has kind of taken over all time and attention for now! lol)

I had a chance to log on today from the Colorado conference I am chaperoning for our youth group and was so excited to hear that despite craziness in our lives/baby situations, we are all doing ok.  I have been crafting in my down time at the conference, some of the youth are really excited about the project I am doing.  I might craft more after next week's vacation before I mail the package off, I am in such a baby mode that I am getting a bit of nesting/crafting craziness urges.  Anyway, I can't wait to see everything!

Started with an extra special, quick, wisty surprise for momma. Then made the small and my medium took on a life of it's own and turned into a large...we'll see what else I can come up with to fill the FRB...the medium may still be a medium...only time will tell!

Speaking of send outs, the 15th is a Sunday isn't it?  Does that mean send outs are actually the 14th then?

Can I just say I am SO frusterated right now. Not because of craft stuff, but because my little man has been somoff recently. I am at my whits end! Normally he's so even tempered nurses well and is overall a mellow baby, but recently he's been off and on while nursing, fussy as all get out if anyone but me is holding him, not napping well during the day, and though he sleeps well through the night the stuff during the day has me feeling nervous. Maybe it's just because I'm a first time mommy. I've also been feeling short with my DH because of it. I just want help but I know that all little man wants is things I can gve him. I feel like I'm falling apart!  ??? What do I do? I don't know if it's a growth spurt or if he's just changing feeding patterns... I know it's not reflux or thrush ( thank God ) but I wish I knew what was bugging him.

If this is the first time this has happened chances are it is a growth spurt...if you are a SAHM see if there is a mommy group locally...one of the hospitals here has a free 3x a week support program and Mom's Club is also a good one to look for...getting out with other mom's can be a great help with the emotions and help wit the stress of fussy infants...this too shall pass (yea, I know that may not feel like a comfort now but this is coming from a mommy that spends most of her time chasing her toddler around trying to keep him out of trouble.  I long for him to be small again like his sister or bigger so he can entertain himself.  Not that I want him to grow up fast I just wish I had the time to sit and hold his sister more.  That and practice crafty crackster therapy!)

Sometimes babies just need to be fussy, and sometimes they make us feel terrible no matter if you are a first timer or a mom with 6 already. If it is making you feel short or frustrated baby will "feed" on it which will make him act fussier...... hand him to DH and let Daddy be Daddy and just take a bit for yourself, expressing or pumping breast milk for DH to use occasionally will not seriously affect his want or need to nurse. Nipple confusion doesn't happen that fast (trust me I have been in your shoes many times).  A frustrated mom will lead to a frustrated baby and as I learned with Deven (now three) stress WILL stop your milk flow. So relax and take a chance to focus for a moment on yourself. Babies seem to come equipped with mommy radar when you hand him to DH walk away he will eventually learn mom will return, breatfed babies are harder in this aspect you are his everything and he needs to learn dad can be that too.

Thanks everyone I appreciate it. I had about had it with DH the other day. Micah was fussy and Hubby was doing something on the computer. He was off and on the breast and fussier than fussy (which is unusual for him) and I had hit my boiling point. When I mentioned something to DH he sort of shrugged it off and said if he got to bad he'd take him and I blew up. I feel bad (and we have since appologized) by DH explained that he doesn't always realize how tough it is on me when the baby is fussy. He's deffinatly trying harder. Right now the hardest part is that little mans nap schedule is almost non existant. I read that they can go through this around 3-4 months, when they grow and their eating schedule is changing because they're sleeping longer at night. I think the lacking naps are a HUGE contributor to his behavior. I know he'll get better, but for now it's a day by day adventure. Speaking of which he's starting to lose it again now, better go.

THanks for listening ladies, and thanks for the support!

Medium is done...again.  I made something really cute.  My problem was showing it to my sister.  She had to go to a wedding last Saturday and the bride specifically told my sister she didn't want her to buy a gift for the wedding or make anything for them.  So she found a loophole and got a handmade gift for their 6 month old daughter.  LOL.  It's not bought, she didn't make it, it's not for the bride and groom.  She's sneaky like that.  I think the second time around making the medium gift, it looks a whole lot better ;)

On to my third and last craft!!!!

Making the final piece and reading the instructions for making cloth diapers anyone know where I can get PUL? In making this final piece(no it's not diapers) I have discovered I will need 2 more for myself......

As to the PUL question the shops here just look at me strangely when I ask about it...

My local fabric shop has PUL in all the Bum Genius colors. it's $9.99 a yard which would make 8 diapers incase you were wondering! That's like $1.25 a diaper!

Yup.  I've never seen it in a brick-and-mortar store.  I used to get it from janellespul(s?) online, but that shop seems to be defunct.  Aren't I helpful? lol

Anywhos, crafting news...I am now working on my large (and last) craft.  I say I will be sending this out early :)  Yay!!!

Yeah! We came home from the hospital today. I gave birth (it was induced, but otherwise naturally) to a cute baby girl on Monday August 2nd at 11:19pm.

Clara Ruth

You people who make diapers/covers and use PUL what else have you made? Have you made any lap pad type things? Do you just take a layer of cloth and a layer of PUL and sew them together? I have no idea about PUL and keep on going back and forth if I want to order some. I have a habit of wanting to do things, getting the supplies and never doing the project.

Congratulations!  Personally, I find induced + natural more impressive than "just" natural. ;)

You can use the PUL for anything you want to be waterproof.  Mama pads, waterproof drawstring bags (for carrying the diapers or pads, or wet baby clothes or a pacifier, or swimsuits, or whatever), etc.  I used it for lining sandwich wraps.  You could back bibs with it if you have a heavy drooler.  Just about anything you would use vinyl for (for waterproofness), you can use PUL for instead, and it will be more flexible/comfy.

Thanks all! We are having so much fun. If I could be a stay at home mom I would and I think I would be a crafty one, I want to do so much. I know all about different cloth diapers thanks to my cousin. I am ordering some PUL to make different things. I even finally bought a Teflon foot for my sewing machine.

Those of you with store bought diaper pail liners made from PUL, my question is, is it one layer? Or cloth lined with a PUL layer? Or what?

I'm not sure if my pail liner is PUL.  It's laminated on one side like the PUL, but it seems to be more of a nylon fabric, whereas all of the PUL I've seen is a knit.  It's just one layer, though.

Thanks, PUL is still a new fabric for me (I work in a theater and sew costumes) so I know all about different fashion fabrics. I didn't know PUL was knit, now it makes sense that when I was searching for info everyone was talking about using a ballpoint needle. I found a website with something that was suggested for diaper pail liners that wasn't PUL. So maybe that is it.

I'm finished, just waiting to see if I come up with any extras before sending saturday.  I have a tea party and to will just be easier to mail then (no tinny terrorizer running around like mad) and tomorrow is craft day...unless they decide to do canning.

Ladies I am here and watching but will be a little slow in updating until Thursday. I was attacked, assaulted, and robbed at work last night. I am nursing a fractured hand, a lot of bruises, and damaged feelings. They were arrested and then released and actually returned to the scene to watch me and my vehicle being processed by the crime scene unit. Thanks for your patience.

mymymissmai ~ Ditto...

dragonslair ~  you rest up!  Take care of you and your little one...I know it can be a pain recovering, taking care of little ones and worrying about the little one on the way.

We were in a car accident when I was 6 months along.  Someone caused us to t-bone them by pulling into oncoming trafic...hubby and toddler were fine but I had have back pain worse than labor.

I wish they had DC numbers between the US and Canada. It makes me nervous not knowing where the stuff I sent is. I hope everything gets there in time!

So where is everyone? How are all the new babies? Has anyone received recently? It's gotten weird quiet in here. Just thought I'd post and say hello. My little man is teething, so not fun, but they are only pushing, not cutting so it could be worse.

Hope to hear how you all are doing soon.

My little one is turning one year old in two weeks.  Gotta plan on a big party for him!

He's also trying his best to walk.

I haven't been checking the thread much lately since me & my partner finished this swap quite a while ago. I'm down to the last 3.5 weeks of my current pregnancy, so I'm looking forward to meeting my new baby soon.

I've been pretty lucky with teething for my now almost 2 year old. He never seemed overly bothered by it, a little fussy, but not to the point of screaming & crying, not sleeping, etc. that I hear other kids experience. I hope your little one doesn't have it too rough!

Ugh it's a killer right now because my oldest just turned 4 last Saturday, but I didn't want to do two different parties in the same month.  So I figured one party to celebrate both of them at once would be better.  Although turning one is like a huge thing, so the party have to be BIGGER just for that.

I am now home from the hospital after almost a whole week-our new little boy, Theodore "Theo" Silas was very jaundiced and so we had to stay a few extra days.  Anyway, I received my package a day before delivering and didn't get around to posting.  Hopefully I will get some action shots tomorrow of Theo with his new baby craftster love.  Thanks so much to lapoli-I am especially excited about the socks!
