I figured that with all of the other great swaps going on this summer, it would probably be wise to do things on a smaller scale.  And this is my first time organizing a swap...so best to keep things simple.  :)  I also pushed the send out date back a couple of weeks, so everyone has almost 6 weeks to finish.

Now to wist all of the crocheted items I wish I could make! :D

OK, I am having such a hard time on the questionnaire!!  I know what a small/med would be for crocheting, but would it be the same for knitting?  I always think knitting would take so much longer cuz for one row, you really do 2 right?  Would socks/legwarmers/mittens be med or large?  I think in crochet they would be med???  I dunno, gonna go search ravelry for some ideas for my questionnaire!! ;D

I'm totally in!  I've made my decision!  The only problem I'm having through....  is that the things I want to be knitted for me are huge...   :-\  At least I think they are.  I may have to search through Ravelry as well and consider some smaller things.  I'll be sending in my questionnaire later this evening!   :D

Lol, I have the same problem!  I'm hoping there's at least one kind knitter out there willing to do a bigger project.

It can go by time and money spent too dont forget. So a speedy knitter might think that the large item you have chosen is really a small. Or maybe theyd modify what you wanted slightly by using a bigger yarn. Im a crocheter and have done that before  ;)
Im going to suggest that you put down what ever you want, your partner might not even make anything off the list, they might find something awesome in your wists that is much more in their comfort level  :D

Is it possible that the dual skilled people could let the organiser know they do both and then she can assign them to where ever they are needed? Kind of like if there are more knitters then a dual crafter could go crochet vise-versa? (sp)
That might make things a wee bit easier on everyone?

???  Yeah...I was kinda wondering the same thing...where ARE all the knitters?  Perhaps we should advertise this swap in our signatures or something, with a tag attached-"Knitters needed!"  (Ya just never know, it might just work!)

I wonder if it would be considered appropriate to post something on one of the knitting boards?

Maybe we could cap at 10 crocheters until more knitters sign up?

I agree but we also have to keep in mind that we have a while before sign-ups close too.

Sinellia - I'm MUCH more comfortable crocheting but I can knit and if you need me to I'll switch.  I just don't promise anything amazingly intricate.  No socks or sweaters or anything...    ;)

Hmmm... I am considering joining and I'm a knitter. But, I have some other swaps that I'm in and I told myself I needed to take a break from swapping for financial reason. But, I have sooooo much yarn and fiber and it is a relatively small swap. I will take this into serious consideration :)

We'll see how many knitters and crocheters that we have at the end of sign ups, then I'll switch those who have offered to do both around (I will contact you individually).  If need be, I can take on two partners.  I have a wicked huge stash of yarn and more free time than I know what to do with...and this is the only swap I plan on doing for a while.

Tempting. I've promised myself only 1 swap other than the MOH swaps at a time and I'm in the MAF swap that doesn't end until August, but this is really little and I have so much yarn. I'm not allowed to buy or spin anymore until I knock out some of what I have. The hoarder in me is going nuts! And I'm also a crocheting crafty lady. Too many crocheters! I really like knit things, though... We'll see. I'll keep an eye on this one for sure.

Well, I have to get my theory stuff done for work until I can sign up for this or I'll blatently start researching this and not do my work, but it's a consideration. I'm a crocheter too (in the UK) and whenever I'm doing my stuff people always ask me what I'm "knitting" because crochet seems to be relatively unheard of! I can knit small garter stitch squares but thats as far as my talent goes with knitting needles....but they're useful for broomstick lace  ;D

Sorry I haven't kept up with answering questions.  Just had a very unusually busy weekend!

I dunno, gonna go search ravelry for some ideas for my questionnaire!! ;D

For me, socks/legwarmers/mittens are a medium item....small would be something like an itty bitty amigurumi or something.  Some people knit/crochet faster than others, so I think it would be best to discuss the size requirement with your partner after everyone is assigned.

;D  I am soooo psyched! A fellow craftster shared a pattern with me for a usuable, but easy to make, stash busting project!  I've made SIX of them already, and want to make one for my partner!  Can't wait!

Awesome! I'm so excited for this swap to start! :D

This is one of those occasions where I wish I had multiple arms.  Just think of all the knitting/crocheting you could do with an extra set of hands....
I'm thinking the multiple arms might have to be accompanied by multiple brains.  Which I have no place to put, unfortunately.

I like the multiple arms theory, I could use one pair to do my job (I work at a sawmill) and the other pair to crochet!! neh, only need one brain at work  :D

Here's what I'm thinking: If you we end up with 2x as many crocheters as knitters, why don't we just have 2 partners each so we all send 2 boxes, the knitters will get 2 packages of crocheted goodies and the crocheters will all get 1 packages of knit goodies and 1 package of crocheted goodies. like a round robin, but where you send to both of your partners, ya know? If this were the case I would be down. Speak up people! What do you think?

Since there are so few knitters I was thinking send 2 knit packages so everyone could get some knitting who doesn't do it, ya know? Even just doing the same package twice would be cool, I think.

I am so so so amazed by knitters, I can't believe they would ever want anything crocheted... lol

Amigurumi is a good example.  Every time I've attempted to knit amigurumi or other toys/dolls, they end up looking severely disfigured.  :(

I taught myself how to knit about 2 years ago, there are endless how-to videos on the subject on youtube...I know how to cable and I just learned fair isle, but I can't for the life of me knit a sock or mitten...

so I picked up the needl;es, tried a sweater (came out good considering was ALL garter stitch--then went into LYS for GOOD Yarn-bought more needles, then got some awesome cable needles--get about two or three lines in a BASIC Pattern--frustrating---frog it & grab a hook & do it the right way (for me) LOL
I WILL LEARN TO START SMALLER--like washcloths.
Then again I can whip a washcloth in under a 1/2 hour with a hook & first washcloth (picture) knitting took like DAYS---
and where does that extra stich pop up from & adjust a K2Tgthr & then my stitches are off by like FOUR....

maybe I'm just meant to be a hooker afterall

There is something WEIRD going on with the feedback system.  The entries I made yesterday had disappeared, so I'm going through everyone's profiles to double check.  So if you don't see a feedback entry on your profile, have no fear!  I should have everything up to date by tomorrow.

:o  SherrieB, UT...hate to burst your bubble, but you would not be looking at "youth in progress" in my case...I'm a 5'2", 230 lb. woman...you would be looking at a lot of fat jiggling, unfortunately!  But hey, it's still better than a REAL day in a waiting room, right!?

27 is young?! Lies, you are sooo stinking old! HAHA! I'll be 26 in a month. Maybe we are the youth in the room...

We used to sword fight with big sausages at the grocery store, but I don't think that would be fitting in our crocheting/knitting parlor/waiting room.

We are definitely a fun group of peoples.   ;)

Don't you love it when you look at the project in your hands and go "DOH!"??  I'm almost finished with a crocheted project for another swap I'm in right now and I just realized that I may find myself making another one if I get a partner that likes pointless toys...  well, not really pointless, good for throwing at people and not hurting them.

I just looked down and said DOH! but that's because I accidentally did the same row of lace twice on this pair of socks I'm knitting.  Luckily I only had to go back one row!

Ya know....  at least I was throwing soft squishy things to hit people with...  but the image of the ladybug catching the crochet hook and exaggerating, dramatic faked death is quite amusing!

Hopefully more knitters will come join us soon!  Knitting needles make for better death-faking...  they don't get caught on your clothes the way crochet hooks do.   ;)

We are living on the edge here, squishy things to be thrown is not as fun! "It's all funny until someone gets hurt: then it's hilarious!"

ROFL!!!  That totally fits into our discussion... it is all fun and games until the ribbons (yarn in our case) turn on you!!

I don't know about the Halloween movie Sherrie.  I can't do horror movies... over active imagination and all.  So I wouldn't know if they used knitting needles or not.

Miss Barbara - that would be funny.  We'd make an awesome comic book!  ;)

I'm glad I'm not the only one that likes to save handmade things from thrift store. I have an afghan that my great grandma made, she made about 20 of them but I have on of the 2 left, it brakes my heart to think that she put so much work into them just to have them ruined and thrown away. I'm so excited to get partners for this swap, it feels like I have to wait for ever, off to finish my sweater

I have neon ones and skin toned ones. But Im sure I have stickers in here somewhere, would that make everything better?
Sometimes when I crochet I get a wee rub mark, the bandaid helps when the rub mark gets nasty. So does my bepanthem (used for tats, not the baby diaper rash one)

You will be crafting 1 medium item OR 2 smalls.  If you would like to do more, please discuss that with your partner.

Don't get too crazy--some of us actually have time restrictions for crafting during the waking hours...like say those in school, working two job-family obligation, moving etc.

I can't stat crafting for this one until I get back from my sisters baby shower, I have some gifts I still need to finish up. I can't wait to get stalking though I'm excited to have two partners so I'm tempted to sign up for any more swaps I told myself I'm only doing one at a time.

My crafting ADD can't take this!  I'm waiting on this to close and the OTET swap to close...  As Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers say...  "The waiting is the hardest part."  Ain't that the truth?!  Its really okay though.  All my yarn stash is at home and I'm in Atlanta where the hubby is.  I couldn't start anything until Monday night anyway.  ;)

While waiting I decided to sort my yarn stash  ;D
When I first started crocheting (about 2years ago) I had a tiddly bit of yarn that all fit into a supermarket bag. Then my MIL gave me most of her yarn stash (except the baby yarn lol she wants to make stuff for the grandkids that arent appearing just yet) so I transferred my stuff into her cardboard box. Then my Mum gave me part of her stash and I swapped to a 60L bin (two actually lol) and my gran has also given me yarn (she doesnt like novelty stuff as she can see her stitches) so yep, two more 60L containers.
I often send my other half to get me yarn and he keeps complaining that he could never find the colour I wanted and that I was to colour code it.... I have  ;D

the funny part is, that although the drawers are full, this isnt even my entire stash... the browns and greys are still in the bins in the hallway  :D

Sooooo...

The sign up period for this swap ends on June 1st.  I will be closing signups that evening, and will have partners posted by the very next morning.

For those who have volunteered to take on two partners, I will only be assigning two partners to those who can knit (or knit AND crochet), just because we don't have an exact even number of knitters and crocheters.

Any questions or concerns?  Please PM me :)

We have a fairly even number of knitters and crocheters now (plus many folks who wouldn't mind more than 1 partner)..

So if there's any of you crocheters out there who want to join, SIGN UP NOW!!!!

Swap sign ups close at 9pm PST.

I have partners assigned already, but I will not be sending out info until the swap signups close...in case there are any last minute stragglers.

SIGNUPS ARE OFFICIALLY CLOSED!

You will all have your partner's info in the morning.  If I stare at the computer for another moment, my eyeballs are going to seep out of my head.  So you'll have to forgive me.  If you haven't checked already, you can find your partner on page 1 of this thread.

For the last two knitters that signed up, I will have partners for you in the morning.

YAY!

I'll have some time this weekend to get this started.  I have a few ideas and my partner is contemplating making a wist so that'll be helpful too!  But before I get started...  I have to organize yarn!

One of the teachers that retired this year recently put her mother into an assisted living center.  Needless to say...  you cannot take your entire life with you to a place such as that.  So the teacher came to me and told me if I wanted any of the yarn her mother had collected over the years I could have it.  Not buy it...  just have it.   ;D  ;D  ;D  I'm not sure about the word squee or how its to be used but...  from what I've seen this is an appropriate place to put it *!*!*SQUEE*!*!*  So I'm 5'10" and I have boxes of yarn in two stacks that both reach my neck and all the boxes are CRAMMED full of yarn, semi-finished projects patterns, embroidery hoops...  ALL manner of yarny goodness.  I'm going to be sorting this and re-organizing my own stash to fit all this in before I start new projects this weekend.   :D

So....you're saying you're having a yarn party and inviting all of us?!?!? ;D

I started my partner's item yesterday, and it's half done.  I'm debating a second item as well, but I'll be sending out early for sure.

I'll have some time this weekend to get this started.  I have a few ideas and my partner is contemplating making a wist so that'll be helpful too!  But before I get started...  I have to organize yarn!

Why of course!  ;)

I've done some research for my partner's item.  Still not sure if I know exactly what I'm going to send but we shall see.  I have some more searching and sorting and thinking to do.

I finished a medium item, I'm hoping to finish one package soon but I'm going to wait to send until closer to send outs so I can send both at one time. I talked to both my partners and both want to do bigger swap which is awesome and I'm happy with it. This is going to be such an awesome swap and I am super happy with my partners.

Better get back to it  ;D

OMG, WTF! Ok, so I was knitting happily for about 3 hours. Then I dropped a few stitches somewhere, who knows where, normally i'd just go back and fix it .. no big deal. However; this pattern had a lot of YO's, and decreases and I couldn't figure out how to fix the YO's that I dropped and I was basically screwed by the time I figured out the problem. So, long story short .. I'm starting over with a new project.

Time to start the new project.  I'm staying up late because its Saturday night and watching Defiance (yes, feel good movie for a Saturday night, don't you think so??  But for some reason I enjoy World War II movies).  So I should be able to get a good start on this project that I'm working on with no pattern.   ::)  Huzzah for making it up as you go and praying it works!  :D Don't be scared winged_soul... if it doesn't will I'll rip it out and start over.  I promise!  :D

Make-it-up-as-you-go is my favorite way to crochet!  It never goes well when I'm knitting, though....  I always get some kind of crazy yarn beast who gets banished to the bottom of the shame pile.

I need a few Sales like that, I'm not buying any Big Box yarn for awhile-DH said something about '5 totes of yarn and you still don't have the right yarn"
Had to tell him yeah like 6 rods & 3 backpacks of fishing supplies & still need more....
I believe I won that one.
Anyone know where they sell PEACH yarn? (not pink thankyouverymuch-PEACH)

Peach yarn...  the last time I had to look for it I found it at AC Moore.  I don't know if you have one of those near you.  I think it was Caron Simply Soft but I couldn't be wrong.  Its been a while since I went looking.

About the fishing gear vs. yarny goodness....  My dad said we had too many books and we didn't need to buy anymore.  He was going to start throwing books away.  I told him we were going to melt his golf clubs into something more useful, like a bookshelf or a doorstop.  I don't think he's made any comments about our books since then  :D

Made a wee polymer clay item for a part I needed last night. Had a couple of our friends around (we watched Alice and Wonderland and they got boozed while I crocheted lol) so they had a go with the clay too. Was very funny watching them  :D
Got another part started today, the way Im going I might get everything that I want done. All mostly pattern free!  ;D

*grumble grumble grumble) There wasn't nearly enough of that yarn to make that ___. What was I thinking?
I know how you feel, the first part I ran out of yarn... I had another of the same colour but thicker yarn... yes I sat there stranding it until they matched...  :P yes I am more than a little nuts

Nope, don't even have anything that vaguely resembles it. It was  sale yarn and I've used little bits of it a couple different times including on what is my icon. I had no reason to think it would be enough for a ___. I'm just nuts! Curses! but it was coming out so nicely... RIP!

Don't you just hate when you don't have enough yarn for a project (and you don't realize until you're half or more finished)? Several months ago I tried the fat bottom bag pattern with only one ball of really great vintage yarn from my grandma. I planned on doing the bag one color and crocheting a strap in a different color. I literally had about two inches to go and realized that I didn't quite have enough yarn to finish the pattern. :(

In swap news, I've now finished the medium and I want to keep it (as does my mom). I guess I'll be making more! I've also made another small item that will be part of a set, and the main item is in the works. This swap is so much fun!! Fortunately, (or unfortunately) I already had all the yarn I needed for this swap.

If anyone can appreciate this, it's you guys.

I just looooove switching between my project for me, a pretty, delicate shawl I'm knitting on size 3 needles with lace weight yarn, and my project for this swap, which I'm crocheting with a J hook and worsted weight yarn.  There's something deeply satisfying about the how extremely different they are.  I work on my shawl at home, and my swap project at work, since I can turn the A/C down lower here.

My partner and I decided we are going to make something for each other's kid's as well, and I made an extra for her yesterday while I was watching my mom's yardsale, and have all the perfect yarn thanks to yardsaling to make the main project for her. I think some people would consider it a large, but I consider it a medium because of the low cost, and even though its bigger, its super simple. As soon as I did a little stalking and saw that she wanted it, I was too excited! I am finishing up a swap I am late on right now :( and then its all about this item!

22 rounds down, 24 to go.  I always forget how much faster crocheting is than knitting.

Isn't it great? I'm kind of opposite of that.  I always forget how much slower knitting is because I do more crocheting.

I started the project for this swap!  So far I'm pleased with it.  I can't wait to finish everything and put the pieces together.  I think its going to rock.  I just need to get some               so that I can         it.

This has got to be the most fun "knitting/crocheting circle" ever!  When I check in and read all the pages, I feel like we are a bunch of hens sitting around doing our thing and chatting up a storm...love to "hear" the progress, the pitfalls, and the stories!

Thank goodness for On demand on TV!!  I knitted through three seasons of "Weeds" this weekend and.....finished my big project!!  I need to take a pic of it before I....oops....let's just say I need to take a pic before the next step!!!  And, keep fingers crossed that knitting 21,000 stitches was worth it! :D

Both of us like surprises, so my partner and I are being sneaky and only giving hints! :D

I have two little projects to work on while Project one "processes"...while I love to knit, I must say it is harder to knit in hot weather...next time I am going to join the crocheter side! :D

It's amazing to non-knitters/etc. when you can break it down to that sort of number to tell them why you can't just "whip out" an item they are wanting.  Good luck!

I'm thinking about renting the entire LOST series to watch while I knit...that'll keep me busy for a while!

I decided to organize my stash yesterday.  Ended up donating some of the cheapy stuff to a friend, and found lots of forgotten treasures.  I tend to buy fancy yarn whenever it goes on sale.  I found little bits of Manos del Uruguay, Noro Silk Garden/Kureyon, etc.  Its almost like Christmas :)

Sounds like everyone has been busy. My Mums borthday is tomorrow  :) (shes the big 3-4) so Ive just gone and ordered her a nice bunch of flowers so that ALL of her workmates know its her birthday.
Ive I feeling shes going to freak  :D the style Ive ordered is "cheerful" and full of colour and happiness I hope  :) poor lady at flower shop must have thought I was crazy... Ive never ordered flowers before so had no idea what to get. If they were for me Id be quite happy with yarn poked onto crochet hooks and arranged  :D :D :D

Crafty wise Im slacking slightly, as always is my way. I hit a rut, then one night, at midnight, Ill have a brilliant idea and not sleep for the next week until its done  ::) but its all good!

I can't even express how incredibly excited I am about the item I am working on for KrisCreates! I almost feel kind've cocky! lol

I forget how much slower knitting is than crocheting as well.  That and I am using small needles and thin yarn he he  So while I have about 5 hours into this project (not including all my messing up and bribing a friend to cast on for me) it feels like very little is done. I am excited although I keep doubting myself that the color might be too bright...It is interesting how yarn can knit up so much different than it looks in the hank.

I know!  Yarn is so crazy like that.  I once bought this gorgeous sock yarn that was green and brown variegated, but when I knit it up, it looked nothing like the forest I imagined, but much more like army camo.  Eep!

I found some cute patterns and am actually starting (starting without undoing it all again and again) some time this weekend after I finish my poppet.

I have also just learned how to knit and I mean cast on and knit. Purling is coming and so is binding off and so fourth. I might have to throw in a dish cloth because all I'm doing is practicing now.

I've been working on learning to knit slowly since Christmas, I've been getting discouraged with it so often because I picked up crocheting in just a few hours... But from what I understand so far there is only knitting and purling? And then a lot of ways to combine them, is that true? I really need to buy myself knitting for dummies this fall when it starts to snow again

Pretty much.  There are countless styles of increases and decreases, and yo (yarn over) to create lace.  I had to watch a lot of youtube videos to figure it all out.

Just writing to let you all know that I won't be on for about a week.

The cord to my laptop had a little rip a few months ago, which I "fixed" with a good amount of electrical tape. Today I noticed that it wasn't charging, though. I took the tape off to find that the cord was in two pieces. Wow!  >:(

Anyway, I have ordered a new one which will be here next week. Can I survive without my computer for that long (it's on the last 30 mins of juice right now)? I guess I'll have to.

Thank goodness for netflix, the PS3 and my crochet hook!

Momiji - good luck with getting the computer fixed!

Tattooedcrafter - that is how all yarnies should be repaid for good deeds.  I'm glad you were able to patch your neighbor's dad though and that he was alright.

Teacher Workday today so I'll be taking my yarn with me because once I finish packing up (not a lot left to do anyway) I'll be free to crochet for a few hours.  Huzzah!

Craftwise Im procrastinating. The last item is all planned in my head, I just have to draw it up and learn a new technique/stitch  :) should be fun... I hope  :D

I finished early, so I might make 1 more item. I'll have to go to the store and look over my yarn options.

I'm in the States, and a co-worker of mine who moved from Kent introduced me to vegemite.  Man, that is one crazy substance!  Tasty, though.

Started the last item last night, decided learning the new stitch would be a PITA so have used a stitch I already know.
Off to the city tomorrow to see my sister and then go shopping at the craft store (only reason my mother managed to convince me to make the 3hour drive over the alps  :D )
Oh winter, you suck. Stop snowing! (no snow here cos I live near the sea, snow on the alps though  >:( )

~Just FYI my DD is an RN & everytime I get a chance I tell her about NZ & weather (from your posts)--she wants to get Masters now & move there! LOL

That sucks! I wish people weer a bit more considerate.
I have a bunch of ideas too that I don't have the "oomph" to do but that's because I have an 8 months old who doesn't sleep through the night. To be fair, she did sleep for 7 hours straight, but she still woke up at 3am!

I'm a bit behind in my knitting....I've been having some rather serious issues with my back lately and have been all doped up on pain medicine (which isn't good for knitting).  I should be able to get back on track this week, and will most definitely be shipping on time.  Sorry for being MIA on craftster.

I feel your pain pixieval!  I mailed a May Birthday Swap package to Canada on June 1st and it took over two weeks to get there.  You really wouldn't think it would take that freakin' long to hop over the invisible line and get to our neighbors to the north!

Well THAT  didn't work...Sometimes you just have to hit the reset button & go Forward.
Every now & then I am really happy for an extended craft time like now.

Did you know, for intance, that if you FROG an item too many times that your yarn is utterly useless?  :P

I will ship on time.

ha ha I remember one random swap in the summer when I first got on Craftster where I sent the young woman a really fun beach bag...she didn't seem that enthused about receiving it; it wasn't until I realized she was in NZ that I understood why...duh--opposite seasons! ha ha

Why are we knitting in 96 degree weather!!!!??? ha ha I might have to ride around on a bus all day to get my knitting done or else knit in the bedroom in the air condition!!

 >:(  And you know what kills me???? Is that the last few cars I have owned have had air conditioning in them, and yet hubby REFUSES to get it prepped and ready to work for the summer...says it's "too hard on the motor".  Then why would the car companies put AC in the cars in the first place????  And our electric bill is astronomical as it is...we had an air conditioner for one summer and could not afford it again :'(.

I'm looking forward to a repeat of last night with the cold shower, ice water, etc...and finishing the projects that I finally got a move on.

Oh, and last year I went to Georgia in April(?) May(?) for my best friend's son's confirmation...it was HOT even then!  NO WAY will I EVER be moving to Georgia, unless I have AC EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's terribly hot over in Texas, too.  It's only 97 here, but with the humidity, it feels like 105!  I'm very jealous of the southern hemisphere right now.

I traveled through Arizona one summer.  Oh man.  I don't know how people can stand to live there.  It's just way too hot!

Every summer I ponder fleeing Texas to somewhere with cooler weather, but then I remember how annoying shoveling snow can be.

AMEN to that!!  Michigan gets humidity in the summer, and snow in the winter.  Which is sometimes accompanied by negative temperatures.

The news on my yarny front: small and medium things are mostly finished, though there is one more thing that I am going to re-make because I didn't like the first one. I can't send something I'm not happy with! Then there's the large item, which I'm working at little by little everyday. *sigh* you guys talk about 99 degree heat like it's 107 heat, like what I have! I would prefer TX humidity with it because I grew up in the TX hill country, but no, I'm stuck in the middle of the desert. Middle of the desert where it's been raining for 3 days? *BOO!* Suck it up, ya pansies!
Crafting, meh, I've got one item mostly done, I just need to to sew a ______ for it and a ______. And then I think I'm gonna make something else and throw in some ____ and then think a little more. I might be done at that point, but I doubt it. We still have 2 weeks, right? I need to work on my MAF swap now. I haven't even started package 2 and it's due out next week!!

Checking in...Had to change plans on what I was making for one partner.  The pattern wanted me to knit two different things on one circular needles, and that was driving me nuts, so I frogged and found another thing on her wist.  Should be able to finish it here in another day or two.  Trying my hardest not to do my usual amount of procrastinating....waiting until the very last minute so I end up knitting for days on end until I have a callous on every finger.  Hehe

I haven't gotten much done in the past few days, theres been lots going on and it seems like everyone needs me to do something for them but between school, my monster and this swap I really don't have time for it so no more helping anyone until I'm done with this swap ;D
And I just realized that I bought the wrong yarn and I have to decide if I should keep the part I worked up in the other yarn or frog it, there is a slight difference and I'm afraid its really noticable ::)

I thought I lost a really big portion of one of my LARGE item.  I am a dummy and left my knitting bag at Starbucks one night!!  Luckily it was still there when I called them and they held it for me.  Hubby laughed at my distress because "nothing important was in it" like a wallet or car keys.  I almost smacked him.  There was basically an entire bodice done in stockinette stitch with fingering weight yarn and size 4 needles.  I was going to cry if it went missing.

Luckily I have it back and have been working on it.  I still have a large-ish medium and another large to finish.  There is another item I want to make that I told tattooed I could probably do, but it's looking like it might not work out :(  If not, I am sure I can figure something else out.  My rear end is going to be on the couch knitting up to the last minute and I am loving it.  I am catching up on my shows and seeing movies I haven't seen yet and the item that tattooed is making me is going to be so amazingly awesome and it is going to live in my bedroom FOREVER.

That would be me, I lose my keys and phone all the time and never stress but if I lose my favorite hook or a project I freak out ;D If one doesn't work out I'll gladly take something else, I have lots of stuff on my ravelry and wist thats knitted ;D

YAY!  My online order arrived yesterday so I can have a little something extra to put in one of the projects!

I am thinking that I might need to knit up another fun project I found on the knitting board!!  Sometimes I want to knit stuff but have no one locally who would want it!!  I think my lovely partner might appreciate it---yay for having a young, fun and communicative partner! :D

Just checking in;  ;D Happily a-knittin' and planning to send early next week... All this talk of hot weather makes me happy to be in Oregon. It finally stopped raining last week, and is (pleasantly) warm today. Still glad it's not sweater-knitting season though. All that yarn adds so much extra heat!

I have never worked with silk yarns---are they just as "hot"?

I have done rayon yarns that seem "cool" but they are a royal pain to knit! :D

Procrastination rocks  :D sleep is over rated lol

yeah, looks like procrastination is going to win this time.  My aunt just got another foster baby, so I'm trying to turn out a baby blanket really quick to send with him to his future adoptive home.  That, and found this pattern for a quick little knit project (to fulfill that instant gratification that we all desire) http://pegoftilling.wordpress.com/2010/06/20/tea-wallet/  :)  So addictive to make!  So now I have like five projects sitting on needles getting worked on bit by bit.  Its like I have knitting ADD.  haha

Ahhhh!!!   I gotta finish up my last few rows fast!  Working in the round is so misleading sometimes.  Those last rows are loooooong.

 8)  I have everything for my two partners sitting in their respective boxes, and my box of wrapping paper/ribbons out....was going to wrap last night, but it was horrendously hot, and I had a terrible day at work.  I hope to wrap tonight, and give the parcels to hubby to mail tomorrow.  I'll keep ya updated.

I'm starting to worry about running out of time at this point, again I didn't get anything done today because I had to go chase down my 14 year old sister when she ran off from my moms because she got in a fight with my moms boyfriends14 year old daughter, those crazy teenagers and tomorrow I'm taking my sister to get her lip peirced, maybe I'll crochet at the tattoo shop

Ok so I have a second item started.  Because I was royally paranoid about this item I kinda ruined the surprise a bit for my partner to make sure she'd like it.  I got a lot done at the hubby's study group last night.  They're awesome about letting me sit in and listen to them discuss and carry on while I'm working on a project.  Now because I'm so far ahead on that one right now I'm working on a looooooooooooooong neglected piece of cross-stitch.  When I say long I mean I think I started it January of 2003 or maybe 2004.  So...  six or seven years.  lol.  And the scrap afghan I made I let sit around for four years waiting on me to finish it.   ::)  What can I say?  The important things get done.  Swaps, most gifts, etc.  Stuff for me...  meh...  just let it sit and marinate in time.  :D

Hoping to whip up another crocheted item tonight as the one I had planned on doing didnt work out (ie, I got fustrated and threw a tanty, Ill try this new stitch with a smaller project  ::) )

I can't really go into specifics, but there is a certian kind of yarn... actually yarns that I will never ever, ever buy again... If I do I asked the boy to slap the crap out of me. ;D  Plus swap anxiety is kicking in...I have been knitting for nearly 2 years and I can fair isle, cable and the like but the way the rest of you gals talk it's like you all are pro knitters, and I am kinda worried my work won't be as great ( I mean that as a compliment :)  ) :( and I won't have enough in the box...What I have now is what is worrying me, so would anyone care to give me their input via PM?

RazorBladeSmile - Its all good.  I envy the fact that you can do fair isle and cables.  I just recently learned how to knit so I still prefer crochet which is what I'm doing for my partner.  I"m sure your work will be fine.  And I know what you mean about not every buying a certain kind of yarn again.  I have some that I just cannot stand to work with.

jexxican - yes - we all need to be in fewer swaps so we can keep up with them but if we were in fewer swaps we wouldn't know what to do with ourselves.  We'd have to craft for ourselves and keep things we've made.  lol  ;)

One of my problems is that I try to make things like scarves and shawls to put in a box and save for a craft show....  I find myself making things I like for myself instead of things to try to sell.  ::) *sigh*  That's why the back of my door at home is covered with scarves.   ;)

BTW...siniella, your real name is so much fun to read and to say, and as I wrote it on the address label today, I noticed it was fun to write too!  My son and husband think there is something wrong with me b/c of this...oh well!  :-*

I decided to frog what I did the in the wrong yarn because it looked really bad so I have to get more yarn which is a problem because I'm broke right now. I'm going to dig out the rest of my stash and see if I can find some of the right yarn, I think I have some hiding, atleast enough to do a little more. I only need 6 more skeins of one color and probably 1 of the other color.

I need to bust my butt to get it done in time, the final step scares me the most because its one of the things I hate doing most. ::) at this point I am determined to get this done, I just hope I have time to finish the smaller item.

My biggest issue is finding smaller boxes. My other half works for a food delivery company and brings home massive boxes (full of bread  ;) and once a cheesecake!) but never the smaller swap sized ones. Although, for this swap I AM sending a beer box  :D

I've cut down big boxes to make them smaller when I didn't have too much to mail.  Maybe you could try that.  I just HATE purchasing boxes when there are so many out there free to be had (not that I ever have one when I need one).  I've also started saving the boxes that my swap items come in from my partners.  I cover the boxes I send out with brown paper bags, anyhow, so it all works out.

I've started turning boxes inside out to use. You know, like boxes from cornbread mix or cereal or tampons. They all work great! So many more boxes than you realize at your disposal, and turning them inside out is so easy and makes them look so pretty and new!

I'm done! Now I just need to gather, box and ship! Most likely tomorrow after story time.

My husband is jealous. I might have to make copies for him, though this time I will have to add ... just kidding! I don't want to give anything away!

I really hope I make it to the due date. This last project is taking awhile to make. I am knitting everyday in hopes to get it done by the 12th. I might need an extension.

I was in a pageant my senior year of high school.  I think I had the same idea about it as you did.  Didn't win anything, but it was interesting, to say the least.

On the swap front....I sent today!  Will arrive monday.

I need to finish the ______s on the ________ and then get a ___________ knit up and I think I will be ready to send.  I really wanted to make the _______ for tattooedcrafter's son, but it just didn't work out, so I am really  hoping there is a little bit of time to replace that with something else.

I am really enjoying this swap and a little sad that it is almost over me.  I haven't been knitting this much in a long time and I really enjoy it and now I have an excuse to catch up some TV he he.

Hey ladies!  I had to leave town for a few days...kinda emergent.  Anyway, I've handed the reins over to RazorBladeSmile while I'm away.  Please send all updates to her.  I won't be near the computer much, so please don't be alarmed if you have trouble getting in touch with me.  Thanks for your understanding <3
