Title: What size rope for rope sandals?
Post by: craftqueen707 on April 22, 2010 01:35:30 PM
Hi, I am planning on making sandals from polypropylene rope similar to the pictures below.  I found a simple tutorial and I think I will be able to manage.  My only problem is figuring out what size rope to use.  Can anyone estimate what size rope I should use based on the pictures or previous experience?  Thanks!

I tried this recently with rope that was either 3/8 or 5/8 inches thick (I can't remember which it was), and I couldn't get the rope to fuse together, and I'm guessing this was because it was too thick. The biggest problem was that the ropes weren't close enough together to melt together, and I think having thinner rope would help this.
Hope this helps!
