Title: A little ray of sunshine...flapper style!
Post by: TeenyBunny on April 18, 2010 07:50:55 PM
I've been wanting to make a little flapper dress for my girls for a while. I finally got around to it today! i made the hat last night. My first time making a hat with the regular cotton instead of the stretch jersey knit. It turned out just like the jersey hat so now I can make hats with either material. Woohoo! I made the dress and little matching purse today. It turned out just as I wanted. Yay!!! (I designed everything from scratch/made my own patterns)

Here's Blondie modelling. I don't have her model for me as much as Curly because she is so FAST and constantly zipping around. It's hard to get any decent pics!

Here are the pics! C & C always very appreciated.

so awesome!  This is one of my favorite fashion eras.  Is this for dress-up or for real?  Oh I hope its for real so it gets seen!!  Are you making them each one?  I would love to see them both if you do!

It's for real! I love this era too!! She wore it out to the store tonight and got tons of oohs and ahhs. I'm going to make another set in a different fabric soon.

Nice dress. You have inspired me to make one for daughter as well. She is also lean built and this dress kind of adds volume to the frame. So well worth the try. Nice work.

Is it bad that I gasped out loud???? I have no words for the utter adorableness that is your daughter.

I must make one for the five year old I know. Like, today. Right now, maybe. Wait, do I have wide lace...

Adorable - both the outfit and the model.  She definitely looks like a ray of sunshine!

The hat is definitely my favorite part of the outfit.. I could see it being a little girl's favorite thing to wear - like me and my paper purses :)

Thank you so much for the inspiration! I wish I could pull off that style as well as your Blondie :P Here's my version for my boyfriend's best friend's 4.5 yr old daughter:

She really should model more; she is adorable.  I, too, adore the hat.

Thanks everyone! I made a green version yesterday and we're taking the girls to a pretty location to try to get some good pics of the two of them in their little flapper dresses. I'll post pics tonight.  ;D

OHH!!! I have to go make one for a five year old! oh wait, the only five year old I have on hand is a boy... OH WELL! that's his problem! (the ironic thing is, he would probably love it and pretend he was a princess.)
