Just stopped lurking recently and was looking to try me first swap and, oh my god yes please! At least 75% of the point of craft projects is to make anime refrences, this looks like so much fun. Will fill in my form now.

...not that it matters for me.  8)

Yay anime swap!

Yay anime swap!

Back in September they changed the minimum age from 13 to 16. 'course, if you're under sixteen and you've swapped before you can get special permission from the swap mods.

Just in case anyone was wondering.

...

Yay anime!

Me me me. I'm gonna send my questionaire in asap. when do we get our partners? And this will be my first point swap, so what if I have a hard time thinking up things that fit into a point catogory? Or I can't figure out how many points what I crafted amounts to? Also, are we allowed to send to our partner early?

Thanks. Off to do my questionaire.

I'll give out partner assignments on Jan 6th after the end of the sign-up period. If you have any questions about how many points something you've made is worth or have any questions at all really, you can pm me or RevolutionaryGirl. And yes, of course you can send early! The send-out date is just there as a perimeter. Some of us work better with a looming deadline. I know I do  ::)

For the ones that don't know yet, there's a site where you can make your own list with the manga / anime you want to see, have seen and stuff. It could/would be very useful in this swap!
Here's the link: http://myanimelist.net/panel.php (http://myanimelist.net/panel.php)

I'm so excited, I can't wait to get my partner, this is gonna be fun! But as soon as I sent the questionnaire, I remembered so many mangas and animes I forgot to write in the list  :'(

BTW, is there a connection between SGA and anime? Because I see some familiar names here  ;D

Myanimelist is awsome. I'm kind of obsessive about list making anyway but myanimelist is awsome for keeping exactly up to date with where I am on things. I normally watch quite a few series at once and was keeping track with notcards and a cork board before, which was awsome but myanimelist makes it so much easier.

I just can't wait to get started now :) Most of the fun of crafting is making geeky things, I'm going to have so much fun with this swap.

yeah it is!
I was using Notepad on the pc for keeping track before I found myanimelist.
Too bad they don't have something to keep track of the live-actions (drama's) you are watching, I am keeping track of them in my profile :D

If you think of something you forgot but really want to have added to your list, you can just pm me and I can make the addition. I know, with such a broad category, you can sometimes forget some of the things you like.

The only real linky I can see between SGA and anime is that they are both awesome. But really, what more do you need?  ;D

WOW, thanks a bunch! I use myanimelist for finding info about series, yet I never thought about registering (I'm so dumb). @registers right [email protected]

Thanks, but that's allright, I think I remembered enough to get just the right partner as I tend to choose similar things, and then I'll probably link my partner to my profile for inspiration  ;D.
And yeah, they are wonderful... why am I thinking about an anime version of SGA? Something nicer than the US cartoon?

Anyway, I just can't wait to start, plus I have sooo many extras to share - like postcards from magazines and some manga pages from Manga Preview books I always get with my purchase in Germany (seriously, when you buy even a single manga, they give you a thick book with info about upcoming releases and preview pages for free).

Sorry I'm so hyper (the curse of insomniacs), but I've found a cute baking manga called Akuma to Dolce, it's soooo sweet! :D I just wonder if the cake recipe they mentioned was meant to be really used as it missed a lot of info ???

Perhaps something was lost in translation?  Sometimes the things they say in Antique Bakery don't make a lot of sense - though certainly culture comes into play.  A true mont blanc and a Japanese mont blanc are quite different!  ^^

I havent read either of those, but I did finish kitchen princess which also has recipes in it at the back. I have made a few of them and they worked really well.

I'm so excited about this!  I'm like the only one in my social circles that likes anime/manga, so its awesome to get chat and partner up with other fellow anime/manga lovers. I can't wait to get started.

Oooh, I have to read that and try the recipes! Thanks for the tip!

I know lots of people who are interested in manga and anime, but I think that guys here are a bit different (in a good way). I mean, I not only love to watch/read it but I also always talk about what I'm interested in right now, buy furoku or craft things inspired by my favorite series, while the people I know through lolita or who are my classmates don't get that excited about it. And they never want to talk about the series apart from "hey, a cuuute guy!".
Just the other day my friend's boyfriend came to me, took my notebook I decorated with Meine Liebe pictures, and said in a way he'd talk about trash "So you like Ouran?" And I was like  "??? huh?!?"
And then I had to help that friend to pick up a manga for him as she can't tell Spiderman from Sailor Moon.
So, to sum up, I definitely share your feelings, it'll be pretty cool to have someone to chat with who is (most likely) as crazy as I am!

Perhaps something was lost in translation?  Sometimes the things they say in Antique Bakery don't make a lot of sense - though certainly culture comes into play.  A true mont blanc and a Japanese mont blanc are quite different!  ^^

Maybe, or maybe I was mistaken when someone said it was a "cooking manga" and the recipe was only supposed to be a part of the plot and not really something to try out.

I'm going to read that manga with those recipes in the back, I love recipes ^^

Also, about no one in your social circle being interested in anime/manga, a few years ago when I got hooked on anime/manga, I introduced my friends to it and I made them obsessed *proud*
Now my anime obsessed friends are studying somewhere else and I've got no one in my close neighborhood that loves it :(
so if you want to talk with me about anime, manga or drama, feel free to pm me ^^ (I love pm's =D)

I haven't watched Anime in a while. The last thing I was really into was NANA. My boyfriend rented Witchblade. That seemed pretty cool. I still need to track down Lovely Complex and the Second seasn of NANA!

I need new Anime to watch. I've been so out of the loop!!

to be specific, it isn't yaoi, it's shounen-ai (for the ones that don't know: shounen = boys, ai = love, make the connection ;) ) shounen-ai is kissing and hugging, yaoi is, well..., going the full way, if you know what I mean :D
I also have gravitation!! I loved it! (It was my 2nd anime I ever saw). And I saw loveless too, it was good :)

I tend to draw way too much fanart, but it's too much fun to stop.  No OCs, but I sort of turned myself and my pet snake into 'characters' of a sort.  Usually silly stuff like me putting a bonnet on him and pushing him around in a stroller.  ^^;

I will confess to writing the occasional fanfic, but I don't have any OCs. And, as my skillz of an artist leave more than a little something to be desired, my fanarts consist mostly of stick-people. Haha.

Once upon a time I would draw Sailor Moon fan art. Haven't done anything in years. No original characters. I'm not that talented.

No fanfics. No OCs. Draw fanart? Kinda..I turn my favorite images into stained glass, so I have to draw up a pattern.  ;)

Oh I draw way too much fanart. And I'll usually own up to it. I write a little fanfic too. That I don't always own up to.
I like to plot out ocs but they (will) never see the light of day. But I do like to see what I could add to the story-line/universe.

Actually, I more try to figure out said universe. For example: What happens when you die in Soul Society (in Bleach)? I figure you get reincarnated in the "real" world. (Conservation of matter) Anyone else need to extensively figure out how certain worlds/universes work? (Particularly based on actual science?)

So I checked out the animelist site and I'm addicted. I love making lists and I have been going crazy adding things. Another thing to kill my time with! I had a videogame list once upon a time but I forgot the site it was on.

*back to adding to her list*

I write fanfiction XD Quite a lot of it actually, it's fun XD Crafting and writing are probably my two favourite things to do, and reading...

Yeah, crafting is my favorite form of fanart! (and I'm way better at sewing than drawing)

I don't write (or even read actually) fanfic, but I love crafting. I'm adicted to makig cell phone/key charms with my favorite characters etc. doing my own book/journal covers... and I'm thinking about starting cosplaying  ;D.

As for original characters, I do draw manga pics sometimes, but just as a single pictures, not really a whole comics. But I somehow ended up doing illustrations for my friend's entry for Shoutetsu Bang Bang's Food challenge XD.

Yeah! But sometimes it gets... kinda frustrating, since some things just cannot work... I usually rather find sociological, psychological or cultural connections to real stuff, especially since tons of Japanese animes/mangas tend to take inspiration from western/central Europe. I wish there were more stories including scientists as characters though... my favorite is count D's father from Petshop of Horrors (plus it also somehow managed to maintain some sense in talking about genetics).

I can't draw, but I used to write stories. I do Role Play if I had any one to Rp [Story style] with me lol.  I have a few OC Characters, Rose McCoy- Angel Soldier in Gundam Wing,  Kumiko as Yusuke's Daughter, Pearl Hino as Sailor Ocean and Daughter of Sailor Mars, Rena is the Daughter of Serenity and older sister to Rini and also the forgotten one. I had one for Inuyasha, but I forgot her name xD.

LOL, I definitely can't write any fanfic. I do make up my own endings if I don't like the way a story goes. Like a character that 'died' suddenly comes back to life because they had to go on a top secret mission or something. I am getting back into drawing so maybe my swap parter will get some fan art. Maybe ;)

I haven't written a fanfic in years. It's far too time consuming for me these days. But I do draw fanart periodically. I like to draw little comics based off of funny things I see in life and then transfer it over to anime charaters that are popular. For example, one I'm working on now is Sailor Moon doing a little bit for birth control with her compact.  I've also done a few things base on the twilight and WoW series, just because I think they are usually taken way too seriously.

I do have O.C. but they dont get enough love. My new years goal this year is to do a series of 100 theme drawings and use my O.C. for at least half of them.  I'm also really bad at uploading and posting my art. I need to get better at that.

I'm currently trying to finish my art degree in illustration so I can go into a concept art field for video games or  I would REALLY love to do manga or disney work.

Yes! I loved Petshop so much for doing that. That they were able to fit science in with all the folklore, myths, and magic made it so wonderful.

Nobody dies in anime. They go to the island. The island is a magical place where all the characters who totally didn't die hang out together.

So, let the crafting begin! But don't forget to post to the swap thread here about once a week so I know you're still around. This is going to be a great swap!

Hhaha, thanks. I just finally got the nerve to start swapping. My first 2 items were awesome but the third swap, I failed at life. I sent, she said she liked them, but deep down I wasn't happy with them. Part me of should of still sent it late and had that in my feedback but it would of be better. Sorry, thought I responded already.

If you feel like checking out the glass boards, I've got a Bleach (Hollow Ichigo)panel, a Xenogears (Fei Wong/Weltall) panel and a killer catgirl (HookUps skate deck, but I think it's Felicia from Darkstalkers) panel posted.

There may be more glass work in my swap future..  ;)

So I have started a sketch book for this swap. Don't laugh. :P I figure with all the neat ideas I am coming up with, I might as well record them for a future swap or for myself if I dont end up crafting them for my partner. And there are tons so far. I just need to sift through them and decide on the best ones for my partner.

I've got my small and big projects planned all out now, but I'm still a little stumped on the medium one. I have one cool idea in mind, but... the color changes would be a nightmare to crochet... blugh...

I have a question for everyone, do you go by the cost of the item or by the time you spent on it to figure out what point it is?

I usually go by the actual size of the thing with a secondary concern for how long it took. Like, even if it took me two or three hours to make, I would still only count a finger puppet or a bracelet or something like that as a small.

Title: Re: Anime/Manga Swap 5!! - sign-ups end Jan 5 - send outs Feb 10
Post by: Chrislea on January 13, 2010 01:10:10 PM
I go by quality - not to say that small means crap, but that something cute and dinky is a small, but something that has subtance & shows work, that's a medium or a large.  THough I do tend to mistake large/quality with large/size and freak out a bit if there's not something large in size.  ^^;  The problems we make for ourselves...

I'm still kinda new to the whole point/size thing, but I usually gauge by the size and effort it took to make and factor in the cost of the product (not exactly what it cost me, but what you would pay for it) and Not necassarily time it takes me but the effort it takes. For example, I would consider a hand painted wine glass as a medium and a set of 4 as a large. It only takes me 30 or so minutes to paint a glass and I can paint a set of 4 in an hour or two.  And size wise, glasses are a medium in my mind. But hand painted glass sets on etsy go for like 40.00$, thus I consider a set as a large.  But a small pillow or a plushie I would also consider a large. Because It takes me a great deal of effort to make them. It's hard for me to wrap my brain around measurements. But you can go out and buy a plushie for under 10.00$. And earrings I would consider small, because of their size, unless I had done something amazingly difficult while making them. But these are my personal guidelines for myself when I am making goodies and I have no idea if that makes any sense. But there ya go.

The only problem with swaps, though... is that I think, "What would I like to recieve?" Then I make these things which are SO AWESOME and... I have to give them awaaay. Haha, anyone else have this problem?

devilxkat, where is Akon? I've got a table at this year's Anime Central in May... so pretty much as soon as this swap is done, I'm going to be non-stop crocheting for that.  :P

Ah, I'm jelaous of all of you who have tables at various Cons. Maybe one day that will be me. (Nah, I work too much and would rather be on a panel anyway  ;)) For now I'll content myself being a cosplayer.  :D

I keep adding to my list of swap ideas. Guess we'll see what I get done this weekend, that should be a good indicator of how ridiculous this swap package is going to be.

Yes, yes, A-kon is a beautiful convention to attend!  So big, so many people, such beautiful cosplay...  <3  My ultimate favorites each year are A-kon and Realms Con.   ;D  A-kon for the size and excitement, Realms Con for the smallness and familiarity.

I made pretty good progress this weekend, finished a large I am rather proud of. I'm about half-way done, I just need a little bit of inspiration for an item or two . . .

I'm wanting to make cosplay now too. Went to a load of weapon making workshops at last year's ayacon and learnt that it's fun but I'll also kill myself in many painful ways trying to make anything. I made the costume for the character I want to cosplay two years ago but never finish the prop (magical girl lyrical nanoha, the srop is kind of a staff so not the easiest thing ever) then acidentally died the costume blue in the wash so now I have to do the entire thing again.

Wish I could get a table at a con XD Helped out as a friend's table at expo last year but she didn't even come close to breaking even, it's so expensive. Might look into amecon, should be cheaper and it's being held in walking distance of my friend's house this year which will make everything cheaper and easier.

I haven't cosplayed in a few years. I can't sew so I would piece meal my costumes. There's a Nami costume that got put together and I never wore it any where.

heck, I haven't been to a con in ages. I went to Fanime in 08 but after that, it was in 05 that was the last time I went to a ton of them. I started saving and going to Comic Con instead.

I went to my first con last september. I have to say that I was actually a little bored. Maybe I missed what you're supposed to do at cons...I will admit though that it might have been more fun had I stayed at the hotel, but since I have two little ones, I just wasn't comfortable with that. I did dress up though. That was tons of fun. :) But I dont really need to go to a con to do that. I'm thinking that I might try it again this year. Anyone have any suggestions on what I'm supposed to do? lol. I literally felt like one of the oldest people there and I'm only in my 20's.

I do think it would be tons of fun to have a table there tho. But I hear that it's really expensive and having one doesnt allow you to partake in panels. What do you think? Some of you mentioned having tables- is it wortj it? Do you usually come out even or profit?

Every convention is different - the feel of the spirit, the crowd, the type of stuff that's good or just mediocre...   Usually it seems the kids are most interested in dealer rooms and cosplay panels, so if you're looking for more mature company, check out the AAs and industry panels.  There's also the appeal of doing a cosplay group/meetup with other friends.  I've never been able to join in one of those, so I glorify it in my head like crazy mad.  X3

Man, my medium took two days to finish!  O_o  And there was so much leftover, um...  resource, I'm scrambling to think of what to use it for.  Probably going to try my hand at *mumblecough*

What people get out of conventions varies. I go almost entirely for the people, a lot of my friends do the conventions, a go to  the big events (the omake and the masquerade, normally) and a few panels, but I'm mostly there to chat and look at other people's cosplay. At the other end of the spectrum, I know people who skip the socialising aspect entirely and go only to use the dealers room, attend panels and watch anime. Most people fall somewhere in the middle. I think the best advice would be that if you want socialising, pick the smallest con you can. If you want events pick the biggest. Look at reviews and try posting on the message boards for the con before you go too. Smaller cons tend to be more close knit and more orientated to hanging out and being geeks, whereas bigger ones end to be more professional and are about the events. Both good in their own way but sometihng to think about XD

Oh, and about the tables, only ever helped out with my fiends but I'd say that if you want to actually take part in the activities like panels etc then don't. If you're more there for the socialising aspect they can be nice to do, I'd certainly consider doing it again but I don't really care about missing anything other then the parties and the omake.

All the conventions in America baffle me, so many of them XD England's great as the convention circuit is pretty small and pretty well contained. London expo is the biggest but that's just essentially a massive dealers room. Still fun but not as much fun. Then you've got ame/aya con which alternate in some strange pattern, then a range of smaller cons. I went to Tokonatsu last year and plan to go again, which is a camping convention where we spend a lot of time shooting each other with water pistols and making running around fields in cosplay.

And yes, I am rambling XD I'm at an awkward part of my large items and dont want to have to do it but I know I do have to XD I'm just going to have to suck it up and go and make the thing. Also, I thought I knew what I was making them I had an awsome idea last night for something else. Not worked out if it's fesable yet but I at least have to try.

Man, yeah, I know what you mean about missing events.  The only panels I've been to in the past three years are the ones I hosted.  =_=  Sometimes I get lucky and have a table right in front of an open panel room door, and once a host gave me a quick, personal demo right before her panel began.  And some of them look so cool.  Cosplay 101s, digital-on-a-budget tutorials, BJD workshops, redubbing...  T-T

Sooo what I was planning to ask... what's a panel? :D

I might kind of sort of be the red Shy Guy with the crochet bomb purse in that picture.   :D

ANYHOO! When I was looking for a tutorial here on craftster for one of my projects (and couldn't find it), I found another... and realized I had all the materials except one... and that material was on a SUPER SALE at Michael's this week...

So basically, I have an awesome, shiny, and colorful small gift which required me to leaf through about 2 years worth of Shoujo Beat magazine.  ;D BEST. PROJECT. EVER.

I just started cosplaying this year! And now i'm addicted to it, you seem to meet so many more people at cons when you do. ^^ My icon picture would be me from AAC this past year.  :D lol. i have a few cosplays half done and one that i need to take the whole bottom apart and fix it. I've been procrastinating, but hopefully i can have them all finished by Anime Boston thats in a couple of months.  ;)

A panel can vary. Usually its informative in some way. Like a class on how to make cat ears or chobits ears. Or it can be a discussion or question and answer time with someone important, like ComicCon this year has Stan Lee doing a panel on creating comics. Last September at kumoricon Svetlana Chmakova (author of Dramacon and Night School) did a few panels on character design and getting published. They also had a drawing panel that lasted 20 hours out of each 24hour period I believe. But I think some of the random fun things are also considered panels. The swimsuit cosplay competition was under the panel listing last year and not the events. So maybe it varies. But for the most part I think its informative in some way. Does that help?

Thanks TPAUSILVER. I will keep that in mind.

DESEREE: You got me hooked! I just read the entire  MARS series in two days.  Amazing! I loved it! You should check out Hana Yori Dango. It's very simular in story and plot. I'm now starting on Paradise Kiss as I hadn't read that one either.

So, I as well have had issues with my  crafts. My smalls seem to not be working out as I had expected.  It worked so beautifully in my head though. Sad. On to try something else.

I have seen both the korean and japanese live action versions of HYD. I Loved the japanese one. But then Jun Matsumoto Is HOT!! So who wouldn't love it. I finally got to see the last movie too. I was a bit disappointed in it, but the tv air for the movie release was hillarious. Tsubaka and Tsukushi are adorable together.

I wasn't aware there was an anime for paradise kiss. I will look into that.

I read more manga than I watch anime. I get to read manga in between classes, but I only have time to watch movies after the kids go to bed and when the hubby is playing games with his buddies. So its harder to watch them. I finally finished watching ranma 1/2 up to ep. 165 I believe.

Right now I am desperatly waiting on the next chapters of maid sama and faster than a kiss. And I NEED the new volume of ultimate venus! Yet the distribution of the volumes has been held up. Makes me want to cry. T-T

Has anyone read happy cafe? I got it yesterday but wont get to read it for a few more days.

I would agree and be jealous about all of the above. In the UK panels are mostly run by people attending the con so they vary massivley from con to con. Normally the people who do them are quite knowledgable, we had a guy for the amecon prop worshop who made an amazing quality full size Al cosplay (From fma) and a set of automail limbs for his girlfriend who was playing Ed and they were do good. I have a friend who's obsessed with Phoenix Wright who did a panel on it showing clips of the Takarazuka musical and the Edgeworth game. So, yeah...

Then we have a yuri panel run by a group who might once have seen utena, but most of the anime they listed as yuri was vague subtext at best and they did a skit which mained me as a fan of most of the shows they included because it seemed they were working of bad summaries rather then having seen the anime. The up side of that is me and my friend are pretty obsessed with running the yuri panel at amecon this year. If we'll get to or not is another thing but we've already done a ton of preliminary research between us and we've both seem Utena, Strawberry Panic and Marimite from start to finish which puts us well ahead of last year's group XD

I'm taking note of all these anime & manga everyone is mentioning. As for live action, I've only seen Sailor Moon, which I thought was cheezy, but hilarious and GTO, which was pretty good, though it can't be compared to the anime...I'm going to start looking into more live action movies/series now  :P

i'm finished my small, about 70% done with my medium, and my large is staring at me, mocking me.

and i wanted anime happy and added a ton onto my netflix. I'm getting NANA just so I can rewatch it and then Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone complex. I never finished watching it with when I was getting the fansubs.

=)

GTO was good ^^. another must-see live action is Tokyo Dogs (police-drama-comedy, hot guy) it's very funny and exciting ^^ or Nodame Cantabile (romance, classical music, hot guy) or Love Shuffle (romance - hot guys)
teehee :P OR Hana kimi (romance, craziness, lot's of hot guys)

Checking in for the week! Spent last night and today in emergency and urgent care.
I've had consistant discomfort on my lower right side for a couple days. After a battery of tests, the docs aren't sure what's wrong. Could be early appendicitis, or a cyst. So I'm basically bed ridden right now.

Thank god for crafting to keep me sane!

Oh wow, I hope it turns out to be nothing serious...  o.o;  Are you taking care of yourself?

I'm in the home stretch of my large craft.  I don't think I knew how much work it'd be, but oh man, I like where it's going.  ^^  Once it's done, that'll leave the small.  I'm still not sure what to do.  There are so many ideas...

OOhhh I didn't know Gackt & Hyde were in a movie. Amazing! I will have to find this now.
I was unbelieveably lucky to see VAMPS in concert last year when they were in the USA. Hyde is soo freaking hot! It's hard to believe he's in his 40's.  And K.A.Z. was amazing too.

I haven't seen the Sailor Moon Live Action. But I want to soo bad. But no one in my area has it. This is what I get for not being a netflix member. I have seen the NANA live action. It might have made a bit more sense had I read any of the manga first.
I SOOOO want to see hana Kimi! I haven't had the time to though. But Hana-kimi is one of my all time fav. Mangas. I think Hisaya Nakajo is amazing talented.  So is Arina tanemura and Svetlana chmakova and matsuri hino. Meru Puri is amazing!!

Sailor Moon Live Action isn't out on official DVD in the States so netflix won't have it. If you find it in stores subbed, it's bootleg.

I loved the first NANA movie but I did not enjoy the sequel.

Don't worry, I'm still working and searching! Should definetly send by the date!

When my sister's kingsnake escaped, she was missing for two whole months.  It turned out she's crept into the carrying case for a vacuum cleaner, and didn't come out until that box was put into the trunk of Neechan's car.  Next thing you know, a friend opens up the car and says, "...hey!  Isn't that a kingsnake?" "Dot?!"

I have been busy designing away on my computer. Unfortunately I was out sick for a little while (looking at a computer was not a good thing last week) but now I am getting back into the game :D The crafting game that is. I am still stuck on what I want to make for my large item, I can't decide between two awesome ideas. Next weekend my hubby wont be home so I will have the house all to my self. Yay crafting weekends :D

One med/large item down. Half way done with a small and I will be working on another medium tonight. Hope to get it finished in the next day or so.

I have to say though, I may have to make one of the medium/large item for myself. It turned out perfect!!

I am soooo excited to see what everyone else it making. Honestly the anticipation is killing me!

I also have a small done.

Hi there, I have been kinda lurking waiting for the swap gallery to go up. I wanted very badly to be in on this one, but signups ended before I got feedback on my first swap.

This is directed @ Riechan and Hika-chan: In case you haven't seen it, the Japanese version of Hana Kimi is way different from the manga. Still good, and some nice looking guys. LOL. But - there is a Taiwanese version of the drama as well. It is way closer to the manga, just as good (I found it a little slow starting, but I had never read the manga, only seen the Japanese drama. So then I went and read the manga first, and then it seemed way better), and has cuter guys in my opinion. haha

The 2 versions of Hana Kimi are actually what got me into Asian dramas, and now I love them...

Hi there ^^
The first chapter of a manga that I read was Hana kimi :D. I couldn't figure out which of them were the boys or the girls ... long time ago :P (5 years ...)
I have seen the Japanese version of Hana kimi. I liked it :) The craziness and all, I heard the Taiwan version wasn't as good as the Japanese but I may reconsider and watch it ;)
Haven't read the entire manga yet but I'm planning too! (have to read it online somewhere, although I rather read it in a book)

Here's a question.  You know those flat-rate boxes they have at the post office?  Do you buy the box, take it home, fill it and then ship it, or can you just, y'know, take one home, fill it, and then take it back to ship?  Or do you have to fill it right there in the post office?  I don't have any boxes the right size to ship my package, and I've never used post-office-issued ones before...  ^_^;;;

you can just go in and grab one (or a couple for future swaps just in case) take it home and pack it all up, then pay when you go back to ship it

I haven't seen either of the dramas. I wasnt even aware of the taiwanese version. As soon as spring break hts, I will be catching up on a lot of asian dramas and other showa that I want to see. But with school and kids, I dont get a lot of extra time for other things. So alas, it will have to wait. But thanks for mentioning it. ^-~

Also, if you haven't read all of Hana-Kimi, you have to! There are a few volumes that I found a bit slow (there are 23 total) but the story is great. And I adore the art from hisaya nakajo. After the last volume of hana kimi, there was a short in tokyo beat (an american manga magazine) that takes place after the last volume. I bought them all cause I was sooo addicted to the story, so I'm not sure where online you can find it. But its deffinatly worth finishing.

Also, has anyone finished reading the series, W Juliet? I have read volumes 1-4 and I like the story, but the art kills me. So I was wondering if it was worth finishing, or just adding to my "when there is nothing else to read..." list?

I haveta cut ******** out of 18 ***** of ******!!!! (All crafy words have been censored ^_~)  Other than that, I just haveta piece together 2 things and quickly whip up another (got inspired from some cool ****** I saw today (more censoring!!! All that's left after that is to whip some Canadian goodies (Chocolate and candy n stuff) in with evefything and I'm ready to send!

Medium: 80%
Small: 50%
Extra: 100%

Sprinkle a lot of corn starch around the floor and keep something warm (like a lightboard for drawing) turned on near the floor, something the snake would crawl to and curl up on for warmth.  Even if the snake doesn't turn up immediately, he'll make a trail in the cornstarch when he moves around at night.

checking in.

So I'm goning to have a crafting rant, because my husbands just stares like deer in the headlights when I complain to him.
So I've been fighting my sewing machine on its life lately (it wants to die and I said no), so finally it won, but right in the middle of my project.  It like ate my fabric. I have no idea how, but it made some aweful noise and then tore the fabric. And i was almost done with it too. T-T
So sadly, I have to scrap that one.
And then today, 2 of the ****** ( liked the censoring crafty word idea ^-~ ) I made got all wonky and have to be remade before I can finish that project. GEH!!!

There now, I feel better. ^-^

Man I totally understand the obsessive reading thing. I was that way with the MARS series. It took me 3 days to read them all. I had to wait on volumes to come out on hana-kimi, otherwise I would have been the same with that one also. ^-^

Oh man, I hate it when I get addicted to a manga and just blaaaast through volumes and volumes of it. When it ends/I have to wait for new ones, it's so sad!  ;D I did this with Ouran Host Club, and now waiting an entire month for a single chapter is torture. But I've recently been renting Fruits Basket from the library, so it's been filling the void.  ;)

SO! I think I might have 3 smalls and one large. Small one and two are done, three's not started, and my large is... like... 60% done? But the work that's left is not hard, so I should be okay. I just need to find  a box BIG enough to fit it in. By "large", I do mean physically BIG!  :D It's turning out cute, too. I got a good deal of it done while watching Full Metal Alchemist last night on Adult Swim, so a few more hours should see it done.

Speaking of FMA, I'm super excited 'cause FMA Brotherhood starts showing on Adult Swim next week! Huzzah! I totally have a crush on Vic Mignogna (like I think my partner does? Which is HILARIOUS, because I almost put "anything voiced by Vic M." in my favorite characters list but thought I'd get laughed at, haha!), so I'm looking forward to it! I wonder who they'll get for Alphonse, though... his old voice is so adorable and little, but that kid has grown up now, I suppose...

I am super excited for the Brotherhood dub, too! I saw the commercial on adult swim last night while I was watching old school FMA and I totally had a fangirl moment. That commercial makes it look so epic and I can't wait to watch it next week even though I have watched all the episodes subbed already. <3Fullmetal

Yeah, I kinda love Vic Mignogna, too. He's just adorable. And I have read that they have Maxey Whitehead doing the voice for Al this time around. If you've seen the dub of Romeo x Juliet she was Antonio and she was Cszelaw (or however you spell it) in Baccano! as well. She did a pretty good job with those, but I'm withholding judgment until I see a few episodes of the Brotherhood dub. I'm just really really hoping that they re-cast Selim . . .

Hey kids! Still kicking around and still crafting up a storm!

I still need to watch The Conqueror of Shambala and then get caught up on the new FMA series. I've been meaning to... it's just hard to find the time. :)

well my large is finally done, and super adorable, small is planned, and i thought up a new medium, bought supplies for it while i was visiting my mom, and then left the supplies at my mom's house! and naturally she lives two hours away. so i called and asked her to mail them too me, but i may just have to go out and buy the stuff again, cause it wont' get here until at least the 10th if she mails it.

I got everything wrapped up and ready to go except for the large because I haven't even started on it.

That's me!

And because I was super excited to wrap evrything, I didn't take pictures at all. I'm debating if I should unwrap them or not. I don't want to ruin the wrapping paper!!

Rar... I'll sit down tonight and make the ****** ******* tonight!! I must!!

Also, does anyone know if I can use the flate rate boxes to ship to Canada?! I've only used them within the US. Are they the same price?! Thanks!

Here: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=337386.0

I need to hear from everybody that hasn't yet messaged me before the end of Wednesday the 10th so that I know that everyone is still planning on sending out.

Almost finished. Just have a few loose ends to tie up, so to speak. I have my box all ready to go, all I have to do is finish my last item and then pack them in the box and they are ready. I'll send them out wednesday.   I sure hope my partner likes them. I'm worried now that there isnt any time left to change anything... :-\''

cRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPP!!!

So my large came out not so perfect. I mean, it's usable and it looks good but it has little mistakes here and there so it's not perfect. I want to send it but I don't want it to be forwned upon.

Rar... It's down to the wire and i don't know if I can pull another large project out of my head or if I should try it again.

I hate working with **** *****!!! You have to be steady and careful.

I'm gonna cry!! <== usagi (sailor moon) moment.

Not knowing what it is, they say the spirit of crafting is in that it's a craft, not a product.  Do you think the imperfections might contribute to the item's charm, or that somehow they might be covered up or fixed?

Weeeell I still need to finish my large... and find a box... maybe take pictures...

...and the weather is predicting a blizzard tomorrow. SO.  :-\ I shall endeavor to get my box out tomorrow, but it might end up being Thursday if the weather is bad.

BUT~! I am super-excited, because my box-o-awesome now has a theme. It's hilarious, I can't wait to send it!  Blizzard = no work, but also no post office. It's a trade off, huh?  :D

It can not be covered up. I think attempting that would destroy the product. It's made of using a liquid so it would be hard to go over it again. I'm just a perfectionist and I've gotten better with this craft. I'm prob hard on myself because I believe it was a simple thing to have those imperfections.

My boyfriend says it an handmade item so it won't 100% perfect unless I'm working in a factory and even then, a few will be flaw.

I'll talk to my partner and see what she says. I mean, she may love it, tiny imperfections and all. If she doesn't, I have no problem redoing it or making something else and sending it. Even if it means taking a hit on feedback.

I'm all done with the actual crafting I'm just worried about sending it out tomorrow what with the weather - as I may get stuck at work. (and you can't just leave a hospital if they're down people)
Anyway, I'm really pleased with the way my crafts came out and they shouldn't have a problem making the journey overseas. I really hope Proxima likes them. (I got to find some extras too.)

Hopefully this storm is all talk and no action.

San Francisco at one point was hitting the low 40s and I was crying like a baby! I hated it so I'll feel your pain. I'm use to low 50s not low 40s.

I'd die if it was low 30s.

Hopefully, you'll get to stay indoors and be nice & warm.

Speaking of Post Office, it cost me 30 bucks to ship my swap to my partner. T_T!
It's going from US to Canada and the lady was like 28 and change! And I had to file out this really long custom form. I'm like WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH?!?! I've only filled out the green tiny form for customs, not this huge essay!

I asked if they had slower/cheaper and she said that was the cheapest. I can't believe the post office is getting so costly.

That's weird...  I filled out the long form for a package to another country today (totally unrelated) and they made me fill out the short one instead.  Usually I just list the "ingredients" of the objects inside and then round it off with "handcrafts" or "toys", etc.

WHAT?! How heavy was it?? If you still have your reciept with the weight on it, go to www.usps.com and calculate the postage and see if she got it right... That seems crazy expensive...

It was 5lbs. T_T I checked online and if I had used the flat rate boxes, it would of been about $25. I hate you post office.

your welcome. ;)
And I love sending prioriety. It usually is only like a few dollars more and it only takes 2-3 days to get any where in the U.S.
I worry about my packages making it to their new homes, so this way my worrying only lasts a few days. ^-^

I was looking through the swap gallery and I was wondering, I saw someone had made a pillow out of anime fabric but I wasnt sure where you found it. I wanted to help my in laws who are making stuff for an anime convention and I was thinking....since Im not as skilled yet, that anime fat quarter aprons might be cute. But unless I make it on spoonflower myself, I cant find anime fabric anywhere or iron on transfers. Plus Im worried about making it myself and having an image copyright infringement deal.
