She looks awesome! The colors turned out perfect.

Quick questions, how big is she?

This is amazing. At first I thought you had put it in the wrong folder becauuse it was a painting. And then I zoomed in and was like 'holy crap'.

P.S. My husband says, "Rainbow Bright is awesome."

thanks guys! :)

I LOVE Rainbow Brite and she was the first thing I thought of when I saw the challenge and I was lucky to find these straws at a craft store. It is not as easy to find different colored drinking straws. I went to a few party stores and was excited when I saw that they had silverware, napkins, plates and cups sectioned by color but they did not have drinking straws. The fun part was picking out the picture, I went with this one since she is hanging in my craft room. At first I thought I was a little ambitious and that it wasn't going to turn out how I pictured it but thankfully I made it work.

thank you :)
I used PosteRazor (free download, just google it) to size the picture and print it out the size I wanted over multiple pages. And then I traced the picture onto the foam board first and used Mod Podge to glue the straws down, you could probably use Elmer's glue just the same. Just make sure not to trace the design on too dark, the red and yellow straws seemed to be pretty see through. And good luck finding solid white straws, all of the white straws I found had colored stripes. I checked Hobby Lobby, Craft 2000, Flower Factory, Joanns, Michaels, Walmart, Kroger, The Dollar Tree, Big Lots an a Party Store. I even tried looking for clear straws. A lot of restaurants have solid white straws so I didn't think about maybe a GFS or some place that sells things in bulk or for restaurants. Or you could always take a bunch from a fast food restaurant. If you can't find them I used white balloon sticks that I found at Hobby Lobby that are plastic and hollow and they were they same size as straws but a little thicker so they weren't as easy to cut but I didn't need much white so it wasn't so bad.

A-MAY-zing! You have incredible patience. I, too, thought it was painted until I realized it was the straw challenge.

The straws are the perfect medium for this.  The bumpiness of the straws plays well with the bumpiness of her outfit!  Good Job!

I am also a Rainbow Brite fan and this is AWESOME!  I think the shine and pixel-ness of the straws adds to the 80s-ness of RB!  Great job.
