Title: Itty Bitty pants from napkins
Post by: warpedweaving on September 22, 2009 07:54:40 AM
The Pier One close to me recently went out of business and I picked up some fabric napkins on the cheap. I couldn't decide what to do with them until I thought of making some pants for my daughter. She's 4 months now and they have fit her for about a month now. My only problem is finding shirts that they match! I just guessed on the sizing b/c the only other pants she had were stretchy.

These are adorable! I love the colors. I would suggest maybe just some solid color shirts or onsies that match the contrast color of the pants, but add something to them a little flower patch or some ribbon something like that. I love these. babies get to wear all the fun clothes:(

I Love these! They are super cute.

I would love a tut or a bit or explanation on how they were done if you were so inclined. I'm due in February and a couple of pairs of these would be a lot of fun to make.

Love! These ROCK!!

Thanks!!
kissing.shadows - I thought that too. I'm surprised how hard it is to find blank onesies that aren't pink! Any ideas where I could get some?
fairieknits - I used this as a guide - http://madebypetchy.blogspot.com/2008/06/tutorial-10-minute-trousers.html (http://madebypetchy.blogspot.com/2008/06/tutorial-10-minute-trousers.html) with a pair of pants that fit her. I just made them longer and a little bigger at the top since the fabric from the napkins wasn't stretchy. This is the best way to make pants for kids. I have used it about 15 times now for these pants and some for my son who is two.

How very cute and colorful!  Don't you just love the 10-minute trouser tute by Petchy?

maybe just buy some white ones and some fabric dye, just wash them a couple times after you dye them. then just take some left over fabric and sew some patches. I think they are so adorable!!!!
