It seems I'm the lucky first recipient.  Check out the goodies I got from audio-astrophysics!

Jack's hat, a wristband with the Earth symbol, and a stamp with Teal'c's (ok, Apophis's) symbol:

A notebook (note the indicated planet):

And a plush Goa'uld symbiote:

(Hey... where did the symbiote go, and why are my husband's eyes glowing?)

Thank you so much!!  :D

Awesome!  Love the symbiote and the hat!!  The notebook is a cool idea, what episode was P3K-888 in...or is that just a random planet designation? ;)

Actually it's P3X-888, the planet where the Goa'uld are from. CraftyCat said her favorite race were the Goa'uld, and they are my favorite too!

Oh hey CraftyCat, did I happen to send you a notebook with writing on the first page? I'm pretty sure i sent one out in one of my swaps. I have a whole stack of compsition books so I could have mixed them up! Sorry if I did, I wasn't anything important!

Woohoo!!! Got a package from Czech Republic! Vita, you outdid yourself! Will be posting pictures a little later, as these definitely require action shots, and am on my way out the door . . . .

Wow, this has been a fun swap - and did I ever have to do some action shots of this stuff! I received from Proxima today - I'm really impressed at all that she fit in this tiny box! I got a wonderful Talya-style top, and a beautiful necklace and ring:

Of course, every good woman warrior needs an apprentice . . . .

A close-up of the ring:

And necklace:

The Stargate coaster - very prettily done!

Lisette modeling one of the Stargate pins (haven't been able to get them or the pipe cleaners away from her!):

And the wonderful assortment of crafty stuff, Stargate pins & stickers, tea & snacks!:

A close-up of the stickers - lots of tough, witty chicks (like me!) and, of course, all those long, lanky muscles (or, in other words, Ronon Dex ;) ) and the three buttons with stargates, logos & a really cool space scene:

Thanks Proxima!  Hope you like the stuff I've got en route . . . .

I loooove that necklace, and the coasters, and the stickers! And of course, the top, I love the beaded details! Also, might I say that your tiny apprentice Lisette is simply gorgeous?

And since Proxima is currently in London and unavailable to answer questions, I shall do it for her ::imitates a Czech accent:: I believe she made those absolutely amazing coasters with cardboard, which she layered to get the awesome 3D look, and lots of varnish.

Thank you! We realized after the pictures were being taken that she was shadowing me :) I agree with how the coaster was made, it looks like really thick tagboard (@ 1/16" or maybe a couple mm) in a couple layers, one with the event horizon (water), one with the gate itself, and then varnished.

Hahahahahaha I'm so glad I had a Czech professor, because I totally read that with the accent in mind!

And if those are cardboard, I'm going to rethink my views on life.  That's awesome.

Thank you guys, and I'm happy Ozarcat liked the stuff!

I believe she made those absolutely amazing coasters with cardboard, which she layered to get the awesome 3D look, and lots of varnish.
I'm happy you believe me since I told you ;D

And BTW, our teacher in London told us there's no such thing as Czech or Polish accent actually XD, but I guess that's not true.

Anyway, I really love the stuffed symbiote, that's super cool!

Now, you're bound to be JEALOUS AS HELL. Because Ozarcat made my wildest dreams look like 2D black and white sucky animation. The stuff I got from her is the coolest thing ever! Everything looks so profesional and it's exactly my style and I almost fainted when I saw the beautiful things, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Here's the bunch of awesomness:

Two blurry action shots of the AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL AND BREATHTAKING McKay T-Shirt, it's the openng credits SGA portrait and it's so perfect and fits me so well!

Yummy tea

The coolest necklace and bracelet  ever with SGA symbols and little frames with SGA characters, so cool! I LOVE pasteels so much, but couldn't think of a way to combine them with SGA - and she managed to do so perfectly!

Letter paper which looks so professional! There's my address too, but I don't really want to share it XD. I can imagine writing on it something really serious, like a letter from my lab at Atlantis!

And a totebag that made me faint. Seriously, have you ever seen something so well made, cool, sweet, beautiful and so SGA?

McKay shirt!!! :o

That is a really, really amazing package! That necklace and bracelet are awesome, I agree with Proxima, I would have never thought to make something SG-related in those colors, but it works surprisingly well! So pretty! Well done, ozarkcat!!

Glad you liked it!! I've always liked that particular shot, it reminds me a little of that statue, "The Thinker" where the guy's just got this contemplative look on his face, like someone suddenly seeing the possibilities in the world or something. Okay, I'm getting all philosophical - definitely time to get some more sleep ;)

I just got my cool swag from RikaHeart! Check out the goodies:

Here's some ingenuity for you - she took a pair of potholders and turned them into the stargates' event horizon! The rim and chevrons are felt and they're really chunky and cool.

She also made me a set of four double sided bookmarks, each with a quote from one of the four original main characters, and a chevron and stargate charms for me to colour as I wish.

Next up, a set of six DHD dialer coasters and polyclay glyph pins that will go on my cork board straight away.

And these are some amazing old drawings Daniel brought back from his adventures with Teal'C. I wish I could hang stuff on my walls, because these would look so awesome framed, but since I can't, I might turn them into super awesome journal covers.

Thanks so much, RikaHeart!

I'm glad you like it! Sorry for not posting pictures yet. I lost the cord to my Camera to upload the pictures! I'm trying my best to find it and upload it asap!

I thought you would like the pot holders. I was gunna more, but I got tired of handstitching after a while. Yes, those were handstitched :) And the Pins were my favorite. I had fun playing with poly clay. I even made some for my Star Trek Swap.. I really don't wanna give it up lmao. :)

I saw some of those photos on DA and decided to use them as Daniel's art and used some kind of Coffee dye to make them look old :). I'm a Horrible Artist. lmao

Those graphics are really fitting, and coffee dyeing is so much fun, isn't it? ;D And the polyclay pins are my favorites too, like I said, I am so jealous of them! That is an awesome package, the artwork is probably my favorite! :)  I have here pictures of my package from Catrinau :)

At the top I have a crocheted Go'auld symbiote WOO!  Clockwise from there, an Asgard head paperweight- the detail is crazy, it looks just like an Asgard.  There's an Ori staff weapon that I think I'm going to turn into a kick-a$$ keychain, a stargate mirror WITH a magnet on the back, which means I can put it on a fridge...somewhere :D  And to the far left, a Wormhole X-Treme! mug which rocks way hardcore, and I can't wait to display it in public someplace ;D

The last item is a Go'auld hand device- fear me!  bwahahahaha :D

Thank you Catrinau, my box is way cool!!  I'm going to try to add pictures of what I sent her later this week when my computer's up and running, since she's received but has been very busy and had some internet issues :)

Title: Re: Stargate Swap Gallery

That Device looks AWesome! :) Great Projects! *Goes to find her Plug to her Camera* Now where did I put that... Dang it. I WANNA upload my piccies

I never had the patience for handstitching, especially when it comes to tiny details like the chevrons on those potholders! Thank you.  The pins are my favorite too lol! It was hard to let go lol. Strangely, I have no problem handstitching because Iím usually lazy to get to the Sewing machine with the stress I have been since April hasnít eased up yet. Lol!  So I would handstitch instead of using the machine, but with the type of wool it used for the pot warmer/holder, it required handstitching lol. I used to make a bunch of stuffies, small ones by hand when I moved to Texas from Florida. They were Ghost, Blood droplets, Chocolate Chip cookies, Chocolate Droplets, and a strange ugly, mean jean lmao

I was pretty amazed at the coffee staining thing. As hard as I try, I can't ever get it right xD And these look so authentically old, it's awesome.

Lol! Thanks! I didnít think it looked old enough, some people manage to make it look authentically old with rips and burnt marks, except I donít play with fire lmao!

Awesome stuff! I love those little glyph pins and the stargate potholders! And those antiqued drawings look so perfectly old!

Thank you.  I thought they be perfect from Danielís work and McKay isnít the type who uses those.. Heís more into machines  -.-; He creeps me out and I always loved Jack, Tealíc, and Daniel as the team lol

Hooray! I just received from my lovely partner and our organizer Sinjah! Now I have to show you all my great stuff!

Here's everything all wrapped up in the pretty silver paper.

The first thing I opened was this:

Fabric coasters that say my real name in Ancient! So cool!

Then I opened these:

Awesome little magnets with the stargate symbols in! These are so cool, I can't wait to but them up on my fridge and spell out random gate addresses!

This soap is awesome. Earth!Soap! She says it was badly done, but it looks perfect to me!

And lastly, my favorite

This journal is amazing! It looks so awesome. I have been needing to get a new travel journal, and what could be better than one with the symbol for "home" on the cover?

Here's a pic of everything together

Thanks so much, Sinjah! I love everything! And thanks for organizing this swap, it's been great!

It's so pretty! Then, there's a Tin can which has Teal'c forehead symbol!  I got were also cute cake earrings [got me hungry after seeing it lmao] and yes, I have been wearing it. I have also gotten two necklaces, the Gate and the little...Whatta call it on the Star Gate side lol!

Awesome stuff everyone!  :D

I promise I haven't forgotten about this swap.  Long story short, we had a death in the family, and there have been other things going on.  But I'm aiming to send by the end of the week.  I want to thank audio-astrophysics for being so patient.

Title: Re: Stargate Swap Gallery
Post by: RockDragon on July 29, 2009 06:49:39 PM
I'm sorry to hear that Crafty Cat.  I hope everything works out for you :)

Aaaasss promised, here are pictures of what I sent to Catrinau.  She received a few weeks ago but then life interfered, so I wanted to share :)

We have a mission journal!  It had a chart of the glyphs in the front cover and was filled with quotes (I got a bit overzealous on those...).  I had things like "If you immediately know the candlelight is fire, then the meal was cooked long ago", and Jack and Daniel's repartee, etc.  My favorite is the inside back cover- "You know, in some galaxies this is known as loitering" (Jack, of course).  I also stuck two bookmarks in the pocket in the back- one with Sheppard and "Trust a convict to know how to restrain someone" and an Asimov quote about science fiction from the SG-1 ep 200.

A tote in military olive with the Earth symbol on one side and

You know that 'we come in peace business'?  Bite me.  on the other :)

And my favorite, the piece de resistance, my first real foray into polymer clay, yes that is a Stargate clock.  Modeled off the Atlantis gate (hence the floor lol).  The dots are random, but they do have some glow in the dark paint to make them shine a teeny bit.  The way the light from lights/camera flash hits it looks like someone just walked through.  I tried to replicate it with paint...

But no dice :(  And I just realized the reason it was bothering me to look at is because the floor is crooked...blast!  That was way too much fun though, I may have to make myself one :D

Ok, essay over hahaha ;)  I just wanted to share :)

Whenever I go past all the polymer clay I want to buy every color, but it's so expensive, so I've been waiting for a project idea before I buy it. And now I have a project idea to make a stargate!!! Thanks for inspirations

Oh, such an awesome stuff! Amazing work, everyone!
I SO love all three journals, Sinjah's coasters (as well as the rest of the stuff, and she'll be forced to teach me how to make the soap as soon as she's back), the Teal'C tin, the clock and the bag, I love that quote too!

Crafty Cat, don't worry, it's alright, no problem really. Hope everything's alright as much as it can be now for you. We'll be awaiting the without doubt super cool package made by you. ;)

Alright, guys, keep your fingers crossed for me as I'm about to try my first go at writing feedback... ::)

I know how the clay buying is...I knew I wanted to try that and happened upon a 4/$5 sale at Michael's.  Needless to say I went to town lol.  I even have glow-in-the-dark bwahahaha.  You're welcome for the inspirations, I'm glad I gave people ideas!  *warm fuzzies*

You can do it Proxima, Rah rah rah!  :)

Yay Sinjah is back! And she received the package I sent to her, but she doesn't have a proper camera just now so I volunteered to share some pictures of the things I sent her.

Firstly, a journal

It says "Book of My Genius my M. Rodney McKay" on the cover and there are random Rodney quotes in the top and bottom corners of some of the pages.

Next, a personal shield emitter pin I made of sculpey

I was pretty amused by this idea, and my sister is already demanding that one be made for her as well.

Then, (my favorite thing I made) a stargate tote bag

The design continues on the back

And since I used stars and "space" on the outside of the bag with the stargate, I decided to use a neat fabric covered in clocks and "time" on the inside (so the bag is made of space and time)

(sometimes impulse fabric purchases really pay off :) )

And two little postcards from Atlantis (and one from my place of employment hiding in there as well)

Thanks so much, angelcallie, for posting pictures! I absolutely love everything you sent me!

Guys, the tote is even more gorgeous in real life, the pictures don't do it justice - the fabric is a brilliant, vibrant purple with discreet gold stars, it looks vaguely blueish in the pictures. It actually reminds me of a fortune teller's tablecloth or something, I'm so much in love with it ::clutches tote:: And the lining with the clocks is seriously the most gorgeous fabric I have ever seen. How much do you love the space-time thing? Is angelcallie a genius or what?

I've also been wearing the personal shield pin everywhere.

Oh gosh!!! I'm so excited!! Now I can't wait, expecially since I've been watching stargate on hulu for the past few days. I've watch all of the episodes over there and stargate what on syfy when I woke up!! Gosh I lOVE stargate!!! I'll totally be in the next SG swap!!

A funny thing I heard teal'c say today!

Daniel: Go ahead, Teal'c, tell them how deep you are! You'll be lucky if you even understand this!

Teal'c: [lifts one eyebrow] My depth is immaterial to this conversation.

Daniel: Oooh! So deep!

Jack O'Neill: No more beer for you.

I died laughing, I even rewound it to watch it again!!
