Title: Puff Daddy and Puff Daddy´s baby
Post by: lovepickles on June 08, 2009 03:52:09 AM
I found an amazing stool a while back, but it was super expensive and I wanted to see if I could make one myself.
Loads of yarn, stuffing and needles later I completed Puff Daddy (Puff means stool in Norwegian) and Puff Daddy´s Baby.

Puff Daddy

Just knit stitches. You make a long scarf shape and sew it together.
Filled with duves.

Puff Daddy´s baby

Moss stitch, filled with a big old ikea cushion.

The structure, close up.

This one of the coolest things I have seen. I would never use feathers or down so I'd have to stuff it with a cheap poly duvet.

I love the one color effect but this could be a great project for using up left over yarns too.

I love this idea! But, I can't knit! I can crochet, and I'm thinking it wouldn't be too hard to make one as a crochet version. It's officially on the "to do" list. Thanks for sharing!

This could be a great incentive to learn just the knit stitch. That is all that is needed for the first "Puff Daddy"

I do think it could be done in crochet. I like how the knit rows make the lines on the top one. I hope you make one and get it posted. It really is a neat idea.

I did try to learn to knit, but I just couldn't do it! I had plenty of help, too. :P

But, I'm on the lookout for some yarn that I can use for a crochet version, and I'm going to look for an easy to do pattern that will make a neat looking exterior.

About how wide and long was the "scarf" before you stuffed it?

It is 175 cm stretched out on the long side. I didn´t measure it before I stuffed it, but it measures 150 cm around the short side when it´s tuffed,  if you know what I mean.
Hope it helps;)

Yes, it does! That's wider/longer than I expected, but the stretching probably makes it so...

This could end up being a "before I go to sleep, crochet a row," projects. Thanks again!

ooooh!!! awesome  ;D this looks so cool, and comfy! great work  :D
i have an urge to knit a giant cover for my yoga ball thing, using this kinda idea  :P
i havent used it in ages, so it wont matter if it stops bouncing or anything, it will be more cosy!! hmm, fun! Just need lots of yarn (thicker than the type i have loads of, of course, it would be too sensible to do a project that uses up stuff from my stash!) and some chunkier circular needles!
great, thanks for the tutorial!!

I loved this post, because I was looking for a pattern to make this same stool you probably saw, and thought was expensive. I had exactly the same thing. So thank you for paving the way, my stool turned out wonderful and my mother (once again I knit a gift for my mother) loved it.

Some pictures.

Thanks again Pickles!

Looks comfy! I wonder if I could do this using the large Knifty Knitters Looms? ???

This is wonderful, I will have to try since I just bought my self some #13 needles.

Love it!
If only I had the patience to knit anything... and mine would be covered in animal hair in 3.5 seconds anyway, so maybe my lack of knitting is for the best. :(
