If you want to read the original discussion about this swap, click here (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=292953.0)

This is not an original idea, I participated in one on another board and thought it might be fun to try here.

The basic idea is that you pick between 2 and 5 FQs of material (no less and no more), each one has to be different and no solid color material allowed in main project.  You then sew something for your partner with that material, doing the best of your ability - not something just thrown together.

You are welcome whether you sew by hand or machine but do remember, it's a challenge so push yourself to do your best.  Maybe try something new - if you haven't done a zipper try it, if you are quilting, add some fancy stitches or anything else that pushes your skill level.  While your partner gets to pick their colors, the choice of project is up to you - you can check wists if you want to but it's not expected - I say again, the project choice is up to the sender.  I want everyone to understand that so that when you receive, you won't PM me to say that you don't like what you got or it doesn't suit your style.  If you can't abide by sender's choice, then please don't join this swap!  This is really about making something you are proud of and sharing it with someone else.

You must use at least 2 FQs but no more than 5, each one must be different (no solid color allowed in main project but see below) and you must use the majority of each FQ - so if you decide to use 2 FQs, you will be making a smaller project, if you decide to use 5 FQs, you will be making a larger project.

A solid color fabric can be used for lining or backing projects but not part of the main project (in other words, if you make a fantastic bag, you can line it with solid fabric or if you make a beautiful pillow cover, the back can be a solid fabric.)

A note about colors - please don't get too specific - if you like blues, browns or reds, just say that, don't say I only want robin's egg blue or cherry red - give your partner some leeway to work with!

Any question, please read the discussion thread shown above and if you don't find an answer there, please PM me rather than discuss it here, if it's something that I think others need to know about, I'll add the question and answer.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you want to participate, please PM the following information to me:

QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:

Name of swap:  Fat Quarter Sewing Challenge Swap
Craftster username
Email address
Your real name
Mailing address including the country
Would you be willing to ship to an address outside your own country?
Confirm that are at least 13 years old (yes/no)
Colors you like (remember not to be too specific)

Also remember to read the Swap Info Guide (https://www.craftster.org/swapsinfo.html) to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.

One note about feedback - I know some might be concerned since this is a long crafting time and they don't want a swap spot tied up for that long - once you make your project, send it and your partner receives, I'll give you feedback.

Well....it has only been ONE DAY since signups were opened....and I believe there were a bunch of swaps open several weeks or a month ago and most should be coming to a close opening up slots on people that are full right now...like....ME!  I have this bookmarked and will see how projects and money goes if I will be able to join or not :)

I am soooOoooo tempted!  I have been eyeballing that quiltigami book at the library and am soooOooo close to grabbing it, bringing it home and giving it a go... but I'm worried the timing could not be worse for me with the end of this one.  I have to have two sections of quilt done before I go on vacation in 19 days so my mother can teach me how to quilt as you go.... sigh... so torn!

Homerof2 you are killing me here!

I do want to join mcbenno but I'm worried I'd be stretching myself too thin before my trip.  If only this were starting a month later I'd be so on top of it!

I do plan to buy fabric though!  I don't have a Joann's by me so when I go up North I bring the plastic cards... and my annual trip to Ikea.... ahhhh... swedish meatballs, fabric, houseplants and oddities.  Gotta love it.

I might cave in. We'll see.  I'll hit the library this weekend hopefully and look at that quiltigami book and see what I might be getting myself in to....

So I went to the library and quiltigami was out... sealed the deal.

Homerof2 you better promise me that you are going to do a round 2 of this!!!  It's killing me knowing the timing could not be worse for me!

It's 6pm EST on the last day of sign-ups and this board is awfully quiet.  :'(

There's currently only seven people on the front page...I wonder if anyone else is going to join us.  I really thought that there'd be a lot more interest in this swap.

No, I'm not.  We ended up with an uneven number and so I decided to sit this round out.  I've found from past swaps that I've organized that most people like to swap with the person they are sending to and not send to one person and receive from another and that would have been the only way I could have done it with 7 in the group.  Not a problem though as I recently did one of these swaps and so now I get to sit back and see what the rest of you come up with and gather some ideas in case we have another round.

I've posted partners on the first page and I'll send questionnaires tomorrow morning.

aw, that can't be fun - all the work of organising without the fun swap part!! I don't mind doing a 3 person exchange if my partner doesn't x

hey loobie and Homerof2 - I don't mind either doing a three person swap or having two partners for this swap.  Homerof2, I just hate to see you organize and not have a chance to recieve something awesome.  Just want to give you some options!   ;D

Okay, all sent!

Now, as a reminder:  You must use at least 2 FQs but no more than 5, each one must be different (no solid color allowed in main project) and you must use the majority of each FQ

Please post in this thread at least once a week during the crafting time so that I know you are still around.  If I don't see you posting, I'll be PMing you and I really don't like to be a nag  ;D but will be if necessary  :o

Remember to PM me and your partner once you have sent and when you receive and I expect pictures to be posted in the gallery (which I will set up once we have a sender.)  If you won't be able to post pictures, let your partner know so they can take a picture and post it after you receive.

I trust all is going well with everyone and their projects!!  I realize that there is not lots to say but do remember that I would like you all to post at least once a week just so I know you are still involved.  Most of you have posted recently but there is one person missing and I don't want to nag her so I'll just put a reminder here  :)

EeeekkK!!!  :o I haven't even washed my fabric yet and I work the next ten days straight!  At least today isn't a long day so I can get the fabric washed tonight.  After I'm through with my eleven days (today is day two), I will be rewarded with three days off just in time for my birthday! So, if I'm too tired to work on it in the next week and a half I have those three days to finish and it will definitely be sent on time if not a few days early.  But my goodness, mrs.dutt you are way ahead of the game!   :D

YAY! Not that this will give anything away, but my 4th grade teacher was super crafty and tried to teach us all to make them. I never finished mine then because it was a bit difficult for an 8 year old, but when this challenge came up, I was inspired to look the pattern up again.

It was fun!

Jeane's package to me left Washington state today, it's got the whole country to travel across before it gets to me. I will be out of town Saturday until Sunday so if it comes Saturday I won't be able to let anyone know until Sunday evening - just so you don't worry, Jeane :D
