I'm thinking about this one! I'm more of a fairy tales and folklore fan than fairies/faeries themselves. . . . and I'm writing a novel based around folklore actually! (It's a young adult urban fantasy about the Wild Hunt). This could be mighty cool.

Okay so I made sure to sign up for this.  I am limiting myself to just this and the whimsy jar swap since I have a crazy life right now...Very excited about this and am very happy that its not too big of a swap...I can totally swing Large/Medium, 2 smalls, a few extras.    Yay!  And here follows my answers to the questions.

If you were stuck in the Labyrinth would you go left or right?  Hmm...I would probably think right and go left or think left and go right...I've never been good with direction so I end up going the wrong way but somehow manage to get to the right place.

What is your favorite hobbies?  reading and crafting...i have a one year old though so mostly my hobby is hanging out with her

what are your favorite bands/music?  billy bragg, tom waits, johnny cash, bob dylan, bob marley, x, bad brains, descendants, david bowie, cheesy 80s pop, propaghandi...i also like celtic music but don't know any particular bands i just like it when i hear it...

If you had an perfect day how would it go? I'm simple in my desires...I would have plenty of time to read and craft and hang out with my daughter...maybe sleep in a bit or even just snuggle in bed with my lil' one

If you could visit anywhere where would you go? Korea...My mother was born and raised in Korea...I would like to visit one day...not the big cities but the small towns and the wilderness.  Ireland, Wales, and India would all be pretty neat too...oh and Alaska...okay clearly I cannot pick just one

what are your favorite Fanstasy, Folklore, Faeirie Fairytales: i love fantasy, i have ever since i was a little girl...not to get into too much woe is me but i've had a fairly rough life and fantasy has always been my escape...my taste ranges from sci-fi to light and dark fantasy...my favorite books currently are the abhorsen triology, his dark materials, and pretty much anything by neil gaiman or charles de lint

Who are your heros: Angela Y Davis, my professor Dr Johanna Brenner, and my precious lil' daughter who is so full of sunshine it hurts to look at her sometimes

what are your favorite colors: i like most colors...its hard to pick...i guess i've been leaning towards light faded green and blue a lot lately and really bright turquoise and red...

If you were a plant what would you be:Bamboo...strong yet able to bend as needed

what are your favorite crafts that people can give you:  I LOVE hoodies...seriously, I borderline obsess about them.  I also like cuffs...fabric, metal...love them.

A small bio to wrap it up: My name is Robin and I live in Oregon.  Its absolutely gorgeous here...waterfalls, mountains, coast...I mean come on we even have rain forests here!  Mosses and Ferns galore!  I am a mother to a gorgeous, strong willed, energetic, and curious one year old named Aria.  As mentioned earlier, my life has been a rather difficult one.  I wonder sometimes if its to balance out all the good that Aria brings to my life.  Only I'm hoping not because I have a serious debt to pay if thats the case.  I spend my time working on my thesis, working part time as a research assistant, and hanging out with my family.  I craft and read to relieve stress...I take enormous pride in making things with my hands.  I am feminist, anti racist, a LGBT ally, and try my hardest to be a forgiving and compassionate person.  I am half Asian (quarter Korean, quarter Japanese) and half white (German, Jewish, English).  I make conscious efforts to expose my daughter to other cultures via our choice in friends, her playmates, books, and toys.  I am a skeptic of all religions but can find beauty in them all.  I wouldn't say I'm necessarily spiritual in the true sense of the word...thats not to say I'm not moral. I believe in compassion, understanding, forgiveness...I think that each of us should try to leave the world a little better than we entered it.  I want to see the world and show the world to my daughter.

I can't wait to get partners and plan.  Planning is my favorite part.  I love making things but the planning is bliss.

One of my happy memories from childhood is hunting morels with my grandmother in Michigan.  I was mostly better at hunting jack-in-the-pulpits, dutchman's britches, bleeding hearts... Gramma used to tell me that the morels had ears...She said that they could hear you approaching and when you got too close they would sink into the earth to hide.  I would creep around on tip toes through the forest hoping to sneak up on them before they sunk out of sight.

After my time crunch on the last swap (semi-major household drama that's pretty much figured out now), I can't believe I'm doing this...  But since I have a month to craft and everything from the other swaps is either already made or sent out, I'm in.

I can't pass up anything to do with fairy tales and especially mermaids!

Filling out the questionnaire now :)

If you were stuck in the Labyrinth would you go left or right?
I'm directionally challenged, so I'd probably be hopelessly lost in an open prairie... or even my own back yard.

What is your favorite hobbies?
I love to read:  Historical fiction, folklore, Celtic mythology and history

what are your favorite bands/music?
For some reason I'm drawn to the romantic "emo" type stuff.  But really, I love just about everything.  At the moment I'm infatuated with Snow Patrol and all these new piano divas out lately.

what are your favorite Fanstasy, Folklore, Faeirie Fairytales:
Celtic and Anglo mythology and folklore, as well as the actual history surrounding many of these tales.  By far, though, my favorite tales are those of mermaids.  I have this strange affinity with them, and can relate to the tales of selkies, mermaids and the Gwragedd Annwn (ladies of the lake).

Who are your heros:
Mary of Scotland, Joan of Arc, Helen Keller - women who were strong in the face of extreme adversity.

what are your favorite colors:
Ocean-y tones of blue and green and iridescent shades thrown in, or forest-y  and neutral tones and colors.

If you were a plant what would you be:
Maybe an oak or a birch, with a beautiful, strong trunk and cool, green, breezy leaves.

what are your favorite crafts that people can give you:
OMG, I want a mermaid poppet SOOOOO bad :P  Anything mermaid-y would be fantabulous!

A small bio to wrap it up:
I am a single mom.  I have 5 children, two teenage boys with my ex, and the younger three (two girls and a boy, all elementary aged) with me.  Physically some days I feel 60, but mentally I'm still 16 :)  I believe strongly that you get what you give (the Golden Rule, Karma, whatever you'd like to call it).  Even though some people say I've had more than my share of the bad, I still believe it'll come around one day :)  I feel at my best when I'm around water - preferably in it, but being near the ocean wasn't quite the same.  I prefer large lakes with beautiful flowers growing right out of rocks, and babbling brooks or tinkling streams nestled in a wooded area.  We have a park in my hometown in Northern Indiana (Midwestern US) that my kids and I call the "Fairy Park", since it has a perfect little stone troll bridge and a long, winding stream running through it with lots of fairy hiding places.

Yes, I am a big ol' sap.   ;D

We went trapsing through the faerie woods yesterday! Pennsylvania woods are what I think of - lots of pine needles on the floor - huge hunks of slate sticking out of the ground and little creeks and brooks coming down off the side of the hills and bubbling along the edge of dirt roads - wild flowers are starting to bloom and the birds are singing. There's still plenty of leaves from autumn on the ground and we heard crunching and saw some glints of movement among trees. Always inspirational!!

Isn't that magical ? We always bring extra treats and leave offerings when we take long walks through the woods. My children will not walk through or on a faerie mound to save their lives. :)

I had to join this one, just sent in my questionnaire. :)

here's my small contribution

If you were stuck in the Labyrinth would you go left or right? Right! because I always go right.

What is your favorite hobbies? I love to craft (obviously!), love to take photos, hang out with people and watch really girly movies.

what are your favorite bands/music? I love Journey, aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, Queen. I love pop music, old school rock, country...

what are your favorite Fanstasy, Folklore, Faeirie Fairytales: I love mermaids, fairys, Irish creatures like the merrows, the lianhan shee, of course the burren and the blarney stone

Who are your heros: my mom and dad. I dont spend alot of time thinking about my heros...is that bad?

what are your favorite colors: green, blue, purple, pink, red

If you were a plant what would you be: a lotus. a beautiful purple tipped white lotus with a bright yellow center...and a frog neighbor  ;)

what are your favorite crafts that people can give you: i love things i can wear. i think i'd really like a journal i could carry with me.

A small bio to wrap it up: Grew up in a small town, went to a magnet - science based HS, then spent long years on greuling majors. I live with 3 roomates in a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 cats... Spend my time crafting to escape from my reality. Small enough for ya? haha.

If you were stuck in the Labyrinth would you go left or right? Ummm if I was in a Labyrinth I wouldn't really care which way I was going I would be too busy enjoying the adventure. When I was done I would just transend out of there.  ;)

What is your favorite hobbies? Crafting, reading, sun worshiping, swimming, playing with my girls, and of course playing with my yummy hubby

what are your favorite bands/music? WOW this is tooooo big of a question. Beatles, Indigo Girls, Melissa Ethridge, John Denver (yes John Denver) :) Bread, America, The Carpenters, Billy Joel, Eagles, Jimmy Buffet, Enya, Carol King, Cowboy Junkies, Really all kind of music in small quantities, anything I can sing along with. Really love the sound of an acoustic guitar. I do love Celtic or New Age music and it is playing in our home almost everyday. I just get the mixed tapes though and don't really have any one artist that I know of. If any of you hard core fans want to do a private swap with me I would be happy to make you something fun for some Celtic music education.

what are your favorite Fantasy, Folklore, Faeirie Fairytales: Again this one is hard, I have been practicing since I was 15 so I have went down just about every bunny trail there is. Beyond that I grew up in an old forest so I was aware long before people or stories were putting names to what I knew was there. I love the idea of mermaids and refuse to tell my girls that there is no such thing. Until some can PROVE to ME that there is NOT mermaids, unicorns, and on and on then I will say that they are there. As a little girl I would stay in water for hours wish that I would grow a tail. hee hee WOW nothing like throwing out your childhood mental issues to the internet waves. I love all stories of faerie and the like. LOVE the stories of leprechauns. My Grandfather was off the boat Irish so I heard lots of Irish tales growing up. I am drawn to Viking tales and the life style of such. I am married to one and my father was a Viking king of sorts. Really he was a man out of time. Gnomes just make me happy and if they are with a red mushroom all the better. The list is too long to get them all down, just really dig all the "folk" that are around us on a regular basis.

Who are your heroes:These are big questions.....Jim Henson, the Dali Lama, Rosa Parks, Tookie ( my life teacher, mentor and children's "fairy" godmother), My father, Lauren Bacall, John Lennon, Capt. Jon Luc Picard hee hee not kidding. I would leave my husband for Patrick Stewart in a heart beat.

what are your favorite colors: I like all colors, I tend to lean towards earth colors or the colors of the ocean. Although red certainly looks wonderful on a mushroom.

If you were a plant what would you be: Hate to sound cliche here but an Oak Tree. They are deeply scared to me and to the fairy folk that I hold dear. I have always had them around me. My girls and I have two more that we are going to plant on Beltane. I love them and all that they are home to both seen and unseen. I would be an old southern live oak though, with a trunk too big to put your arms around and tons of moss flowing through the breeze coming off of an ocean and many many years of wisdom and love in my branches.

what are your favorite crafts that people can give you: Polymer clay goodies because I am not all that great at it yet, crochet critters for the same reason. I am a jewelry person and love things to wear although it has to be either not metal or sterling silver. Anything done from the heart really. I am so sure that our "folks" will inspire in this swap so all will get what they want or better yet what they need at the time. My daughters are so into faeries and mermaid especially so it would be cool to share the love with them.

A small bio to wrap it up: I am a artist, free spirited, yoga practicing, full hipped, Wiccan, mother of two married to a incredibly handsome wonderful man. He is in the military so we are currently living in the last place on earth I would have picked to live but he made sure I have an in ground swimming pool with privacy fence and a huge yard to garden in AND a converted two car garage as a craft room so I will not complain at all.  ;) We are also surrounded by national forest so woods are not too far away. We just moved here from spending five years in Europe and I miss it so much it is a physical pain sometimes. The old old souls that live in the forests there are something that cant be put into words. We are a flaky bunch that talks to things that live in our home and packs extra food for the faeries as we walk through the woods. Grew up in an old wood, raised by hippies and learning out to live off the land and recycle everything. I have just recently started teaching motivational techniques along with communication skills and body language to local business. Basically I teach folks to be kind to one another. It is a high that I can not explain.

If you were stuck in the Labyrinth would you go left or right?     I would just wonder around exploring, and when I became tired I would just fly straight up and then fly to where I needed to go.

What is your favorite hobbies? I love to craft, swim, play tennis, online junkie, and watching movies.  And yoga, but I don't consider yoga a "hobby".....

what are your favorite bands/music? U2!!!!!!!! I get to see them in concert in September!!  I also like Madonna, Aerosmith, Guns and Roses, 70s music, 80s music, 90s music, ....I love it ALL (excpet Christian rock)

what are your favorite Fanstasy, Folklore, Faeirie Fairytales: I love mermaids and dragons, and wizards

Who are your heros: I look up to my best friend, Tatjana. She is an awesome person, and I hope to be half as great as she one day

what are your favorite colors: blue, teal, green, pinks

If you were a plant what would you be: Ivy....I have a connection with ivy. It is the one plant that has not had a catastrophic event in my home. (I blew up an aloe plant and a catctus with over watering a long time ago)

what are your favorite crafts that people can give you: I like anything I can put on a shelf or on myself and show off.

I managed 8hrs crafting time last night. I finished one large/medium. Normally, it wouldn't take so long, but I wanted it to be special. No Walmart look here. I also made an extra for the little one. It is toddler friendly.

I have to work through the week so will be quiet until this weekend.

PS:  What do Aussies have that we don't here in the States?  We'rehaving this discussion, and I'm drawing a blank.  I know what I'm sending her though!   ;D ;D ;D

As for Aussies & Yanks, there are some big food stuffs there that we don't have & vice versa. One product that Aussies have that we don't is definitely Vegemite. It is an incredibly acquired taste & not all Aussies even like the junk. Their Pringles flavors were even different. There was a Paprika flavor that was amazing when I was over there, but I suspect they don't make that one anymore. There are the animals specific to the area (koala, wallaby, kangaroo, taz devil, kookaburra, etc), plus about a gazillion species of snake. Aboriginal tribes there differ quite a bit from our aboriginal peoples & had some distinct weapons and musical instruments (like the boomerang and the didge). Hope this helps get the ideas for differences flowing :) I spent two summers in AUS & NZ when I was a teen and loved every minute![/color]

Not sure I'd like vegemite, lol!  I do like the aboriginal instrument idea, or maybe some really fun candies or flavors that was distinctly Australian.

The things she said they don't have surprised me a little, so she'll definitely get to try them :)

Tim Tams!  Soooo good.  They're chocolate dipped sandwich cookies with a light chocolate filling, and you can do this thing called a Tim Tam Slam-- you bite off opposite corners and dip one corner in a cup of coffee, or hot chocolate, and use the cookie like a straw, and when your fingers start to mush in toward the middle, you pop the whole thing in your mouth.  It's so good.

I don't think my instructions about how it works are that great, though.

I went to Australia-- oh, is it three years ago now?  Wow, time flies!  It was a whirlwind trip visiting Brisbane, Cairns, Uluru, Sydney, and Melbourne in a meager 15 days.  On a wine tasting excursion, the driver told us all about the Tim Tam Slam.  And of course we had to try it, and loved it so much we brought back loads of Tim Tams.   ;D

Who had a  Beltane? We enjoyed ourselves immensely. Thank you so much woodland_Faerie, all the bands that you suggested put us in the right space and had really wonderful music. The girls and I made flower wreaths from honeysuckle, decorated the house with flowers from our yard and we all put on our garb for the day. We made oat cakes and mead. Had cheeses, eggs and yogurt and berries of all kinds. Then we danced and laughed and laid out an offering of all of the above as the sun set.
When the children went to bed the hubby and I continued the Beltane fun and it was just wonderful. Hope everyone here that celebrates had as much fun and may this season bring much prosperity and fertility to all that you do.

Merry Part
Tero

Sad news... and a favor. To all who might practice if you could please send some energy and good healing to four tiny bunnies. Hubby was mowing the lawn...and you can guess the rest.
The four that remain we will try and milk feed until they can be released but the vet just told us it is a hard thing to do. Hubby feels really really really bad. I was almost as sad for him as the bunny family. Thank you in advance.

Tero: :'( Some times the hand of fate doesn't come down so pretty. But you all are doing the right thing! I am sorry to hear about your accident and the bunnies loss but it happens. You all have a good heart and the goddess see that....it just sucks that it has to happen to people who are most aware of others(most of the time it happens like that makes me mad!) But yeah i support you all said a prayer or two your way. Reminds me of the movie Watership Down where Swift the bunnie god takes them away and they hop together in the spirit world. My family's heart is out for you all....

crafting update: Slowly BUT definatly getting this started making some really fun stuff i think i will even put some of it in my shop! so yeah Dragonfly4 your are goooooonnnnnaaaa love it!~Erin

Working on my ideas, got some good ones, and I know it'll be great :)

Listen gals:  I'm under some stress and could use some "good vibes" from all of you.  Some things are due to happen that could be very good for us, but there are no guarantees it *will* actually happen.  If it doesn't, this situation could stay scary for pretty much all summer.  So whatever you believe in, if you could ask that something good happen SOON, I'd appreciate it!  :)  Stength in numbers!

Just FYI:  I'm ok for my swaps, as I use what I have on hand and don't purchase anything.  Shipping is far enough out I can budget it in, so no worries there.

I've ordered my supplies.  so now its just waiting for them to get here.  I was telling my partner by PM that I suddenly got inspired to make something that I've never made before so I hope that I can do it and that she likes it.

Tero - hope the bunnies pull through.  how sad!

Chanemza -  Sending you good vibes.

Good vibes to Chanemza and Tero and Tero's family and Tero's yard's bunnies and everyone else on the list too!

...and if I could have some, while we're asking?  My best friend from high school is depressed and due to a bad history with the mental health side of healthcare, she's super reluctant to get help.  I'm really worried about her.  And I'm not in the best spot either but I'm getting better.  :)  So thanks very much.

I could use a few good vibes as well. I'm having landlord issues, not related to money. I'm looking at other options and am feeling overwhelmed. Luckily most of my crafts are done. I'm just trying to get a special thing to turn out.

Sending out good vibes to all of you.

Well here is too the strength that comes from challenges and the love that it brings out in strangers and friends as well. We should all set a time and day and do a big giant group meditation for our little swap group. Just send out a big collective energy group hug to one another and for all of the situations that are coming up.
One of my favorite sayings is "And this too shall pass", it goes for good to keep you grounded and enjoying it and in the moment and it goes for bad to help you understand that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I will pray for us all to have strength, wisdom and a sense of humor.  :D
Cant wait to get started and see who partners are.

Luna I am bummed you cant be in this one too. Aren't we in two other swaps together right now?  ;)

Much Peace to all

They always lift you up.

How odd my world would be without all of you.

I'll send good thoughts and vibes to all of you :)

as to the goodies...just waiting on some supplies.  can't wait, getting anxious.

:D Us crafters must stay together....I had a scare this weekend as well. On saturday my 3yr old son slipped on his toy car and slid in the corner of the wall to the living room and ran up to me crying and he sunk his head into my stomach and i was patting his head and then a huge like gush of blood went everywhere and just started pouring out of his head! I FREAKED out and ran next door screamin like a crazy banshee all the way(my inlaws live next door) My mother n law thank the goddess she is a veteran at bein a mom calmed us both down and we put a bandaid on it( he acted like his normal hyper self yippie) we went to urgent care and they put 3 stitches in his forehead....now cause of his grandparents and his greatgrandparents coming over to spoil him and play the pitty card he won't walk or move off the couch....."My body hurts" is what he said...thats ok the game will stop in 5 days when they are removed....but yes son soak up the spoilage while you can.....tee hee(of course i am spoiling him too) its just really funny. I asked if he needed a wheelchair and he was like uh huh yeah....cough cough my body ooo my body hurts.....he is a trooper....My thoughts are with you all! My little group of Fantasy crafters and everyone else who make this net work possible yo....

not much to add but yeah- like she said.
Woodland- aren't kids stressful sometimes. Sometimes when I tell my kids not to do certain things and they ask me why they cant A LOT of the time my response is- "Because I really dont feel like making a trip to the ER today." Glad he will be OK- head injuries can be very stressful! Picked up the stuff I need and have been working away. I had to seriously restrain myself from buying more than I needed for the swap (like enough to make one of each for me too...)

I've started every craft so far, but haven't finished any  :D It's been really stressful/busy here lately, and I've picked up some extra hours at work (not a whole lot, but enough to throw my schedule off).
Sending good thoughts/vibes everyone's way; it sounds like all of us could use some encouragement right now!

I have finished or started all but one of my crafts. I am waiting on a shipment to arrive, which according to the online tracking should be Wednesday!! I cannot wait :) It's a new craft I haven't tried before, but I know that if it turns out the way I am planning, Youngmom will have a blast opening the package  ;)

Blessings and good energy sent everyone's way! Heartaches and setbacks are naught but fodder for the positive enrichment of our souls if we let them be.

Did some pretty cool ordering on line for my partner yesterday..... ;D Cant wait to get the order because I finally have a direction to go in. I was across the board there for a few days with ...ooohhh oohh I"ll do that and that and that and oooohh that too. Oh but what about that. Geeezzz. FOCUS.....OHM...OHM

Super good news bunny update...da ta da ta da ta....Kermit the frog news music <----
Sunday there was a MAJOR thunder storm here and it rained all day long. Washing all the sad evidence of the Friday disaster from the original bunny nest. Sunday evening Mama bunny was in the yard and it was the strangest thing. She sat in the middle of the yard and stared at my house for the looooongest time. It was like she was saying....OK I get it, please give me my babies back. Soooo Monday late afternoon I took the four babies and put them back into the mother nature cleaned nest. I added grasses and fur, covered them up and came back inside to sit vigil. Hubby and I spent TWO HOURS sitting by the window to wait for Mama to find her babies again. Then it happened....she hopped out of the brush and took her sweet time zig zaging to the nest but them sat on them and the bunnies were jumping out of the nest to see her and she was circling all around and started nursing them and cleaning them. It was so so wonderful and I was beyond happy for every second that I got to spend with them. The runt was not well when I first took her in but she was almost as big and full as the others by the time I put them back out there again. With her other sibling gone I think she even stands a really good chance now. Sooooo how is that for a ubber cool bedtime story?  ;)

May every one else that is having challenges in their lives have every bit as happy as an ending as my foster babies have had.

Much Peace and good thoughts to all...

Been working on my LARGE (and I do mean LARGE - timewise!) for the past 3 days. Every available moment. It has been a lot of fun! I'm getting pretty close to being done. Not sure if I will finish it tonight, but for sure by tomorrow (if I dont run into any unforseen problems that is.)

BTW- woodland, its a good thing your SO much skinnier & taller than I am- or I would be seriously tempted to keep it! ;D

I'm doing well too.  Thanks all for your energies.  My friend called me today asking for some help, and I found her a free/reduced fee clinic.  I'm also feeling more like someone threw me a little flotation device, so I'm not just treading water and threatening to sink anymore.  I have some help.

As for crafting, well, I thought of one small that turned into a medium/large on materials if not also on time, and one medium/large, but they're both just planned and not really started yet, though I have begun to get some supplies together.  I'll probably start tonight.  :)  That last small is being elusive... but I bet it'll come to me if I'm very quiet and patient.

I also have two medium/large (one started, one in planning stages) and one small (also being elusive!), lol.  I should be able to get them both done by Sunday evening.  But I'm certain the idea for my third will pop into my head as I craft and get inspired!

Some of my plans have fallen through, so I'm going a different direction with some of my stuff. Don't you hate it when you're working in a medium you know you're good at, but nothing will come out right?  ::)

I have sent out today. I do hope you like it. I had planned on making you a second large, but there is too much going on. I'm not sure when I will even get the straps woven let alone handsewing and appliqueing a bag. If I have a place to live next month I will finish it and send it out.

Don't worry though. There is one really nice large, a couple nice smalls, and a few extras.

Well, I have a few things to put into storage before my son's track meet.

Ysmiene and Innaura:

I didn't respond to your messages at first because I have been where you both are, and there are similar things going on at the moment.  Hold on and just have faith that it will get better eventually.  The hard times are just as fleeting as the good times can seem, it's just the hurt of them that makes them seem to last longer.  Try to look for the small blessings and the beauty around you every day and it'll help you to keep focused on the journey ahead.

I'm going to try to finish up the medium/large I'm working on this weekend, and possibly the small that's turning into a medium and try to figure out the other small in the process.  With any luck,  I'll be able to send sooner than the send date :)

I finished my medium!!!  I'm so excited! It's actually a medium that's almost large time-wise, but it won't take long to do a couple of smalls.  I know what one small will be, and that I can do this weekend maybe?  Then I just have to plan the other small!  I think I'll be sending early! :)

June 1st would also help me out.  I am still waiting on supplies for the large/medium.  i think that arrives monday but my mother arrives tuesday and as much as i love her she is stressful plus she will prob stress my sister out which means i will have to run interference for a while.  the lovely thing is she bought a one way ticket so i have no idea how long she is staying, but i have a plan on how to fit crafting time in between taking care of my daughter, mom, sister, and work...all night craft session!  heh! i have all the supplies for the smalls so will try to work on them tomorrow plus i found some really cool extras to throw in as well...nothing too big just some neat small extras that i hope my partner likes.

I'm OK for whenever.  I will probably still shoot to send out by the original date being as I work better under pressure! But knowing that the extension is there does take some stress off. Plans to work on a small and extra today after my run.

Tero you should probably contact a local coven and they can recommend someone reliable for such endeavors. I might mention you should also take into account the path you walk so as not to get someone like voodoo when you're cottage or santeria when you're gypsy, etc.

Title: Re: Fantasy, Fairytales, Faeries and Folklore Round 2
Post by: Tero on May 12, 2009 07:40:44 PM
Yes yes, I agree 100% that is why I threw out the question here with folks that I trust. Really don't have a desire to hang with the negative and mischievous and try my hardest to steer clear of bad juju.  ;)
Unfortunately there is not a local coven. I live smack dab in the middle of no where and that no where is smack in the middle of the bible belt no where.
I am usually really good with being able to read for myself but a very deep hurt has come up and I really need some guidance on it all. So cant seem to read for my own emotions are all over the place. Soo was just hoping that there was someone out there in Craftster land that was loving and willing to help a sistar out. :)
Thank you for the very very good advice though. For anyone who is reading these post she is a wise and very responsible soul to throw that out there. It is very important.

Thanks everyone!! I feel so much better now that I don't have to worry about school, for a few weeks anyway. I still have two to three years to go before graduating, and I've been in school for two and a half years already. Blah.

When I moved to Massachusetts it was too late to directly enter into the nursing program, so I had to enter as a general studies major. My plan was to take all nursing prerequsites and then apply the next year for nursing. But since I was not a nursing major it took longer to get into the prerequisites I needed.

On a crafting note, things are coming along nicely  ;D

My projects have been slow going, since I've had a lot of medical issues.  I was just diagnosed with Hashimoto's and Sjogren's, which explains quite a lot.  I'm thankful for the extension because of my exhaustion, that's for sure.  Still working at it :)

Hashimoto's is basically where my thyroid is under-functioning, but still sometimes sputters.  It means I have to take thyroid medication forever.

Sjogren's is an autoimmune disease where my body attacks all my glands.  My kidneys and thyroid are affected, and I have Raynaud's phenomenon, where my hands and feet swell and burn when I'm warm, and cramp and ache when I'm cold, and it means chronic pain and fatigue and my toes and fingers go numb and tingle like they're asleep and i get really shaky.

To put it mildly - that sucks. I'm sorry. At least you have a diagnosis and can hopefully improve somewhat with treatments. Wishing you all the best.

On another note- I need a little bit of a sounding board. I just need to bounce an idea or question off of someone about the finishing up of a large. If someone can pm me their email address so I can send a photo for you to give me your opinion on I would really appreciate it.

chanemza, sorry to hear about the diagnosis.  i hope the treatments give you release from the aches and pains.

i logged on to give an update.  trucking along, almost completed both smalls.  i also have a few extras already collected, nothing too extravagant, but fun.  have everything i need to make the large now just waiting for an opportunity to make it.  i'm thinking next week i will set aside some time.  i might actually finish in time for the original deadline but i'll take advantage of the extra time and throw something extra in the package, just need to think of what i want to make.   :)

Yay!  I just finished one of the items, I had a craft-mishap, and had to start over, ugh  >:(  But, those things happen. I actually came up with an idea I liked better anyway!

As for the mishap, I just want everyone out there to know, just in case this never, ever, has happened to you, that:

nosy cat + polymer clay + paint = a sticky, fuzzy craft item and purple metallic paw prints all over the place

My kitty wants to help oh so badly.  Too bad he has fur and no thumbs, LOL!!

We are still trying to get over the glitter incident.  My cat is a MESS.   ;D

chanemza - I'm sorry to hear about your diseases.
I hope they aren't giving you too mcu pain adn the meds help to remove the apin you have.
That's really nasty - before I read your discriptions I looke dboth up -it's usually for the over 45-65's - you should tell your body it's wrong and that it should put the diseases on hold for many many years adn by then there will be a cure :P

Craft wise - I'm getting there :P And having alot of fun!

Still trucking along over here, although I will probably be sending right around the new send date. It has been so busy around here, I have had almost no time to sit down- I hate that! Everything is coming along nicely, however.

Yeah, I'm not THAT old, lol...  I had a few days of being all freaked out and emotional, so sorry I was non-existent.  But I'm ok.  Dr says after the tests this week we can talk about the thyroid meds, which should both boost my energy level/reduce exhaustion, and shrink the thyroid, which has grown so large it's impeding my breathing and swallowing.  Good news is it doesn't look like cancer, which we initially though because of the fast rate of growth.  I should be better in a couple of weeks, though the Sjogren's I'll have to live with and get used to.

Anyway, I'm working on the projects again, and should be finishing up this weekend.  Wish me luck for an early send-out!

Haha, I just pm'd my swap partner and asked her if sexy mermaids bothered her.

LOL!!

OK this was funny because this is the PM that she got from me just about an hour before she wrote and asked if sexy mermaids would offend me. :) Hoping that this isn't so off that I get the limbo smack but it is too funny not so share.

OK I hate to spoil your suprise but I have to ask you a question. I am having some major issues doing your coolest gift. Sooooo I wanted to make you a pissed off gnome. No problem, bust out the polymer clay work most of the day and end up coming up with a naked pissed off gnome that is hung like a donkey. Ask my husband if he looks pissed off. Hubby said, "Yeah but I cant see a damn reason why he should be".  Pop him in the oven......his weenie (and I use that term lightly) caught on fire. He face soon followed as you can imagine.
So I try again and spent the day today making you yet another really hysterical naked pissed off gnome that is again very well endowed. Pop him in the oven, he bakes to perfection and I am as happy as can be. Hubby comes home and cant wait to see our naughty little gnome, I pull him out and show him off proudly and Hubby starts laughing and cant stop. I am standing there thinking.....he is laughing just a little too much, I mean it is funny....
"Is there something wrong with him?"
"Oh Baby, you put his c**k on upside down" laugh laugh laugh
"I did not, show me your d**k"
a moment passes, I see the real deal
And I'll be damned if your gnomes bits aren't upside down. Hubby says that maybe gnomes have different equipment.
SO anyway my question to you now is....could you possibly love a pissed off naked gnome with a giant upside down cock? If not I will move on to plan B but I don't think I have the heart to make one more of these little guys for awhile.

The gnome is doing fine by the way and hubby and I laughed at the email exchanges that went on from here for the rest of the night. I got an awesome partner. hee hee Has kept this whole thing waaay fun so far. OK off to sew another goodie.

Chanemza, I do hope you are feeling better soon. I will keep you in my thoughts.

Ok now that Ive stopped laughing and holding myself I have to ask - what was wrong and did you really mean upside down - i need more info to truly appreciate the funny - LOL ROFL LMAO! Must say it occurred to me that if you have a man, when was the last time you looked LOl ROFL LMAO - don't answer that one - best haha I've had in weeks ! Thanks so much!!! My DD Luna is in the whimsy with you and told about the bits on the whimsy - added to the laughter as I read this version of your story and she liked the way you put it here better!!!

I am not sure how to explain it and not be straight up vulgar  ;D You know the little firemans helmet? It usually looks down, however when I am looking at it, since it is not on me it is looking upright....Well the fireman was looking at the wrong fire. He is belly up so to speak. :) Oh and I just looked last night, I really did make hubby whip it out to prove that he was right and I was wrong. Or the gnome was now wrong. Poor little guy, well at least now no one will have to ask why is he so pissed off?  :D

Well I didnt end up sending out Monday. Things came up...  had a root canal this morning... but I am happy to say that I completed the large, and am so excited about it. Completed 2 mediums and a pair of smalls. Now all I have left to do is some goodies for the kid-letts. Although I do have one last small idea spinning in my head, so we will see if I get around to it.

Wow YoungMom! I need to get a move on! I am sooooo excited to send your pkg, but am having a nosy cat issue. He is living up to his name (Aris, the greek god of war) and has declared a new war on my large. I come home to find that somehow the door to my craft room has come open while I was out and there is my large with giant kitty prints in acrylic medium all over it. And from the looks of it, Aris did not fare as well as the large did. I set off to seek him out and scold him, unfortunately... I never got to the scolding. I come around the corner and here is this big, slinky cat covered in still-wet-medium and (after having turned over my chocolate mint plant in the kitchen) attempting very unsuccessfully to shake potting soil off his paws.

For the next bit to make sense, I must explain that my cat thinks he is a person & gets very offended when someone laughs at him. So, there I am, chortling to myself while I walk to the mud ball to intervene on his behalf when Aris decides he doesn't like my tone and begins to "run" from me. However, said cat is also very wierd about things touching his paws, so he does this half stunted canter, half cowboy walk to get away from me, shaking his paws after every step. It probably took me about 5 minutes to catch him because I couldn't stop laughing long enough to make any headway.

Now each time I attempt to go to my craft room to work on patching up the large, Aris plants himself in front of the door and kitty-growls at me. I find it so funny that he has a vendetta against crafting now. Silly, sticky cat :) I am going to give him the night to come to terms with me recreating his arch-enemy and I will start again first thing in the morning. LOL. I should be sending a few days before the deadline as long as General Patton Paws over here doesn't decide he needs to tank my project again. I can't wait to see everyone's photos! The anticipation is palpable :)

I have a question for woodland_faerie and my partner korok. Would it be all right if I sent late, maybe way late, if the thing I'm working on is awesome enough to make up for it?

I've been devoting every spare minute to my project but it's just not going to be done on time. And the instructions said it would take three weeks. *grumbles*

If this is not acceptable I can change projects. It's just that I really, really wanted to do this design and I think it's something my partner would love to have.

Post by: korok on May 21, 2009 07:13:33 AM
Wow, three weeks? - that's wow at the amount of work you're doing, not at when you will be sending! I feel so lucky and not worthy of this!  I have no problem with late packages.  I know my package won't live up to yours though!  If you want to change projects, I completely understand.

Title: Re: Fantasy, Fairytales, Faeries and Folklore Round 2
Post by: Mellius01 on May 21, 2009 04:41:47 PM
korok, thanks for being so understanding! :) I think you'll agree when you see this thing that it was worth the wait.

I didn't set out to spoil you but I really love this design and I've been wanting to do it for ages. Unfortunately, I'm a bit slow when it comes to these things. The instructions said it would take three weeks and with the extension I thought I had it locked up.

However, that seems not to be the case as, even with my best effort, I can see I'm not going to get it done in time. And I have to travel out of town for work next week so that knocks back the extra week we got in the extension. :(

I appreciate your patience and I promise I'll do everything I can to finish as quickly as possible.

Not realizing that my blog link is in my Craftster signature and anyone could check it out to see.

Oops!! ;)

And I almost posted pics to my Flickr, not thinking, "well duh Christina, you dingdong, your Flickr posts to your blog"

The last suprise things that I ordered for you came in the mail yesterday. This has been an ubber fun swap. Even with weenies on fire and upside down bits.  ;D

I received an amazing package from wonderwoman1976 today. Check out the gallery. I absolutely love the fairy shrine, on so many levels. Sewing was my first love, so I love dressmaker dummies. I love the newsprint and the colors. Some day I want a room painted similar to that pink, kind of salmony. I love the womanly form and it's hints at motherhood, rebirth, etc. It could have many different meanings.

Thank you wonderwoman1976.

Ok, so I have had a REALLY bad/stressful week and been pretty sick (pain sick, not cold/flu sick).  My boyfriend, who also has some of the same things I do (hypothyroid & sjogren's, plus he has addison's) is AMAZING.  He is always bringing me little gifts and treats.  So he comes over with his two (awesome) teenage kids, and gives me a little gift he picked up at the bookstore.  He's meant to pick up my sewing machine all week and take it to a friend's who fixes them, since he felt bad that it's not working anymore and I've been in withdrawals, lol.

So he takes it with him, and an hour later comes back with the machine and says "Greg couldn't get the zig-zag to work, so he gave me this to give to you instead"   :o :o :o :o A JANOME MEMORYCRAFT 9000!!!!! :o :o :o :o

I know it's an older-ish model, but this is the coolest machine I have EVER had!!

I haven't fired this baby up yet, since my babysitter is over at my place doing laundry.  But rest assured, I will be trying this sucker out ASAP - and my first experiment will be on something for my partner  ;D ;D ;D

My boyfriend is the best, most awesome man in the whole world!! :) :) :)

chanemza - wow!  congrats!  what a sweetie.  i always say that a partner who supports your crafting bug is a keeper!  : )

I misjudged the amount of one of my supplies for the large...I ordered two nights ago and its already on its way.  the company sent it priority so it should be here in plenty of time for me to finish up the item...the hard part is already done so i feel pretty confident that it'll go quickly.  i am really excited and hopes my partner likes it.  I've never made one before but i think i did a damn good job...if i say so myself.

So do you now have 2 machines??? lol

Title: Re: Fantasy, Fairytales, Faeries and Folklore Round 2
Post by: chanemza on May 25, 2009 11:54:22 AM
Technically, I have three machines here, but one is dead in the water so I don't think it counts.  Of the two that work, I have one that only does a straight stitch and one that does everything but my laundry (I wish).  I have some things in storage about and hour and a half away that I can't get to right now, but in there I have another three, including an Athena 2000 that doesn't work (first electronic Singer machine - it did a ton of decorative stitches), an old 60's era Kenmore that is my little workhorse, and a 40's era New Home that's just gorgeous.

Sealer... hmmm...  My curiosity is piqued!

I have a few tricks up my sleeve.  Wish I could embroider something with my new machine, but I don't have the supplies needed.  I have plenty of cool decorative stitches I can use though!  I have a plan, muahahha!

lol now i'm intrigued!!!

teh machine dead in the water -is that in a fish tank -kinda like a fish castle only it's a sewing machine???

I cna't believe you have THAT many machines!
I have mine -a brother and my dad has an old berlina(whihc HATES me, refuses to work, hence I bought my own machine!)

Title: Re: Fantasy, Fairytales, Faeries and Folklore Round 2
Post by: chanemza on May 26, 2009 02:41:05 PM
Dead in the water = dead, kaput, not working, should get rid of but... um...

Ok, I admit it.  I have an addiction.  Ack!

Honestly, I had my 60's Kenmore of my gr-grandma's and that was the one I loved.  But a lady was throwing out the 40's New Home, and I couldn't just let it be neglected and abandoned.  So it was really a rescue.  The athena 2000 was given to me, but I later found out it was because it didn't work and would cost quite a lot to fix - IF I could find a dealer who could still get parts for it (mid-70's machine).

So I have two non-working, one barely working, one old gorgeous pretty one just for her looks, and one old workhorse that does just about anything I ask it to.  And my new shiny pretty Janome embroidery machine :D

I know.  I need help.

I am considering donating the two non-working and the one barely working to a charity that fixes and takes to people in need.

I keep coming up with ideas, hehe, which happens ALL the time with my swaps! My goal is to stop the insanity, LOL, and send by Friday.   ;D

YAY!!

I am totally sure my partner will love her stuff!!

As for sewing machines, I have a 1960's Singer that weights like a gazillion pounds, is avocado green, and doesn't want to work at all.  It will cost more to have it fixed.  But, one day, when I have a house and more space, It's totally going on display somehow.  I cannot bear to part with it, and it was FREE!

This has been a great first swap for me :) I can't wait to see if my partner likes her package. I got send off anxiety pretty badly when I had to say goodbye to it today. I wrapped everything in so much bubble wrap it will take YoungMom an hour just to get into all the items and I am still nervous it won't all get there in one piece. The postal people in my post office are slightly on the angry side and I think the "fragile" stamps just make them pissy. hehe. Thanks for sharing this swap experience with me! Y'all come see my cool new beetle wing earrings. Not as cute as a gnomes willy but I am super happy with them and they are faerie like. :)

Tero,

You make the best jewelry ever!  I love all those pieces!

BTW, I wore the earrings you made me to work and I thought this one chick was gonna tackle me to get them!  She loved them!!!

I haven't used the purse yet, but I plan on it!!

I'm in search of cool chains or cords for the pendants  ;D

The gnome still cracks me up!!!  I told this one woman at work and I thought she was going to die of embarrassment! LOL!!  I was like, you had better watch out or I will bring him in for a visit!!!

LOL!!
