OH EM GEE, I LOVE the IT crowd!
If there was another German joining, I would join, too. Can't afford sending to other countries, I'm afraid...

I'm so in love with Roy (haha, the music they play when he is outside on the streets! cracking me up every time I watch it!) and Moss has some of the funniest lines. Oh well, I love them all.

So pleeeeeease another German?
Quote
Roy: The weirdest thing just happened-FIRE?
Moss: It's fine. I've sent an email.
;D

ETA: I AM a giddy goat.

You maaaay be lucky as on one of the IT Crowd threads in 'new swap ideas' there was a craftster in Germany that was interested, so keep your fingers xed!!

Otherwise no doubt the majority of us will be in the UK and postage within Europe via land isn't toooo bad for price (depending on your spend limit though I suppose) or time, my friend Heff only sends within Europe and her last packages back and forth to Germany took under 2 weeks.  Just an option to consider if we don't get another German :)

Aww that would be great, I've got to go search for that thread and send a PM :D

I will also ask for the shipping prices to the UK. Lol, I am so used to seeing so many non-Europeans over here that it didn't even occur to me that OF COURSE there will be mainly british folks on this swap :D

I'm so excited!

I've talked myself into signing up,

I'm really supposed to be stopping swapping due to studentness, but, there's no way I'm missing out an IT crowd swap (specially since I was going to organise one and then forgot about it!  :-[ )

I'll just go and sign up and then watch all 3 series over the weekend! - sounds like a plan!

Yay! I've been waiting for this! I think i'm going to re-watch all the episodes this week to get me in the right frame of mind!

I'm in the US myself....hopefully we get a few more from here to avoid the international shipping if possible...it is expensive...but I am willing to do it for Moss and Roy ;)

I was just singing the little jingle for the new 999 number they had on the show yesterday...one of my favorite moments ever....

0118 999 88199 9119 725   3

Well...it's something like that anyway....  ;D

How do you put them on your DS?  ??? I didn't know you could do that!!! It would be so much better than watching stuff on my ipod!

Wow, I'm so glad we introduced you to the world of IT Crowd!!  Don't let postage worry you though eh, we so far have 2 from the UK, 1 from US and 1 from Canada, plus interested parties in Germany and Australia, defo a more international swap than I had imagined! :D

How do you put them on your DS?  ??? I didn't know you could do that!!! It would be so much better than watching stuff on my ipod!

Well you can get cartridges that let you watch vids (and I think music but I've not tried) on your DS and you can also back up and run all your games from it to save you having to carry gazillions of cartridges around - I have R4DS myself but I think there are others.  Then you just use this freeware program called BatchDPG to convert vids into the DPG format, pop it on your microSD in your cartridge, stick it in the DS and hey presto!  It's pretty easy to do ;D

...I know nothing about IT or computers, but i love this show!  :D

I will definitely join if another aussie joins up!

I cant afford international shipping atm unfortunately.  :(

Have fun with your swap! I'll be having an eye on your thread :D

Soooo, getting to the end of signups now!!

Well assuming that I don't have a sudden surge of questionnaires over the next day, it looks like it's just the four of us happy chappies :)  It's probably fairly obvious how the pairings are gonna go, though if we get any last minute participants it could all change!

If there is anyone out there that's on the cusp of joining, don't worry about making us end up with an odd number, cos it just means we'll have a 3-way instead of a 2-way pairing so to speak ;)

Hopefully partner questionnaires will be sent out Saturday morning (UK time), or otherwise Sunday morning (as I'm going on a pub crawl Sat arvo/evening :o) but hopefully the former!  Ooooh I'm so excited to get crafting!! ;D

I have a good idea for my large, I am going to try my skill at it, I hope it turns out the way I plan!  I am pretty confident about my medium, I am going to get started next week.

Well it's a 6 point swap, where "at least two or three points must be either a medium or a large".  So if you have trouble thinking of a large you could do 3 mediums, rather than large + medium + small, or some other combination of points :)

This is defo the quietest swap I've ever been in, but then there are only the 4 of us!!  Have you both (pupper and spirals that is) touched base with each other?

Hmm, well anyways, progress.... I have lots of ideas but I've only firmly decided on one so far (my med I think), I've sketched it out and should start making it next week ;D  Think I might need a little trip to Hobbycraft at the weekend though.... any excuse right, I seem to go there at least once weekly at the moment! ;)

I have a lot of ideas - i just need to get the materials together  ;D
I'll probably take everything back to uni with me to put together! (along with the dvd's to watch while i do it!)

I only managed to get through the first series and half the 2nd series on my "marathon"!

we have touched base forsure.

i got through more of season 3 last night. the episodes were good but, "work outing" still claimsfav episode for me.

Title: Re: The IT Crowd Swap - Sendouts 22nd May
Post by: Pupper on April 17, 2009 01:19:17 PM
I don't think I have seen season 3 yet (I will this weekend tough  :))

I know all of you guys are not from my country, but did any of you hear about them making an american version of the IT crowd?  I caught something about it last year in Entertainment Weekly.  It had the same actor that played Moss, but a different guy as Roy.  I am not sure if it ever did air.

Title: Re: The IT Crowd Swap - Sendouts 22nd May
Post by: FruityLoops on April 17, 2009 01:28:40 PM
Oooh enjoy season 3 then pupper ;D  It wasn't my fave season but there were defo some high points in it, t he he.

Yeah I heard about that last year too, looked everywhere for clips of it but all I could find were photos :(  I don't think they did air it which is probably why there are no video clips anywhere.  I'd love to see what it was like though it was such a travesty remaking it!!  Why do the tv bods always insist on making different version of shows for different countries, I find it a bit of an insult if you know what I mean, like they think I couldn't understand shows otherwise :o  Not just US tv bods to blame though cos they do the same over here and remake US shows!

Title: Re: The IT Crowd Swap - Sendouts 22nd May
Post by: Pupper on April 17, 2009 01:36:54 PM
I feel ya, Fruitloops.  I think they do so many remakes because some writers can't come up with original ideas.  They just keep recycling the same things.

Title: Re: The IT Crowd Swap - Sendouts 22nd May
Post by: FruityLoops on April 17, 2009 01:38:11 PM
Had to look it up ;D  The US remake was cancelled after the pilot episode was shown to US audiences in early 2007, and there was a German remake also but it was cancelled because of poor ratings after the second episode :o

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_it_crowd#Foreign_remakes

Yeah you make a good point pupper I hadn't thought about that! Why get new writers n stuff to make a new show when we can just remake movies and tv shows that were perfect just as they were?!

How's everyone doing this week?  Time for people to check-in so I know you're all still alive and kicking ;)

I haven't started crafting anything yet as I am silly enough to have signed up for 4 swaps at the same time  ::)  But I should have everything complete and ready to send for one of my swaps today, and hopefully another one done before next weekend if not before then, and the other is still in sign-ups for another week yet.  Soooo next weekend I hope to start on everything for my IT Crowd partner!!! ;D

I have not started yet, I broke my hand Monday night, so I have been recuperating.  Luckily it was not my dominant hand, so it shouldn't effect what I plan to make.  It just may take a little longer to get it done.

take as much time as you need pupper!!!  get better hun!

i too, bit off more then i can chew... well for this moment anyways... turns out that i have to move this month!  so things have been pretty chaotic but, im moving into a place with only 1 roommate (i have 4 right now!)  so things will be much more chill... lots of opportunities to craft im sure...

i have a few good ideas i just need to figure out the rest of the supplies... im stoked because im going to be doing new crafts that i havent really done before. should be good!

So how is everyone doing??  Sendouts 2 weeks today! :o  Is everyone looking good to send out then or before so far?

As for me I've kinda been longer working on my stuffie swap package than I intended (thanx to a really shitty few weeks at work) so I still haven't started  ::)  Buuuuut I'm defo finishing that up this evening so I'm starting on my IT Crowd package for Becky tomorrow and I have nothing else on at the weekend apart from a trip to the supermarket and a couple of trips to the gym soooo I'm hoping to get at least a couple of things done ;D  I reckon I'll hopefully be sending my package a few days before the deadline.

I hope the move went well Spirals!

How's your poor owie hand Pupper?

the move was good... but something has happened to my crafting mojo... im not sure where it went.  i want to craft, so i go to do it and just fail miserably.  last night i tried to get my embroidery on... fail.  then i was like... ok im going to sew, and i went to plug in my machine and the outlet sparked, alot, so i did not want to deal with that and possibly mess my machine up right now.

i have sun, mon off and do not have any plans so im hoping to just get my serious craft on then.
i know what i want to do.i just need to have it happen, with out burning down the house...

so frustrating.

trying to be optomistic that everything will come together the next time i try...

BALLS ON MY CHIN

went to sew again today...

SPARKS! AND my sewing machine cord MELTED IN HALF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! are you kidding me.

i have never had a problem before with my machine in any other house i have lived in.. till now...

OH and on top of that, the fuckin sparks and melted cord burned a big burn hole mark into the linoleum.......

wicked...

please excuse me while i mourn the temporary death of my machine...   im hoping to get a new cord for it.  i just dont know when that will happen.......

today was going to be devoted to crafting and now i just feel shitty.....

eff my crafting life right now.

OMG Spirals you have got THE worst crafting luck recently, stoopid sewing machine!!! :o  On the plus side surely your day can only get better, so I very much hope it does! ;)

I've nearly finished one of my items now, can't totally finish it though until either something I ordered arrives in the post or I make another trip to Hobbycraft :)

Sorry I haven't checked in in a while.  I have been on painkillers from my hand  :P.  They help the pain, but I don't like the way they make me feel.  I have one item done, I am very happy with the way it turned out.  Sorry to har about your sewing machine, Spirals.  That must have been scary seeing the cord melt!  I will be done with my items by the sendout date, this weekend will consist of a lot of crafting  :D

yeah my heart dropped. thats forsure... definitely not super stoked on the melted black patch on the floor in the kitchen....

glad to hear you are doing better.  and painkillers can definitely mess you up.   i should have my items done by send outs as well... i have had to do a lot of rethinking on the items with my craft slump. but i think im back on track.

How do my IT crowd peeps feel about an extension until next Tuesday, or is everyone happy with the send-out date remaining as this Friday??

Actually that would be helpful!  I was actually going to send you and Spirals a pm about that.  I wanted to be finished already, but things kept getting in the way.  I feel so bad that I have not finished yet, because I am usually on the ball with things.  I'm for the extension, if it is okay with Spirals?

I have to admit that I had ulterior motives as I need the weekend to finish up my stuff  ::)  2711 has said she would be happy for the extension too, soooo if spirals is ok with it then I shall go ahead with amending the send-out date ;D

Ooooh I shall have to set up the gallery soon!! How very very exciting, I can't wait to see what everyone has been making  8)

Yey I finished 2 awesome mediums (or med/lrg, I'm really not good at determining size category :o) now ;D  So just got one more thing to work on tomorrow, I know what I'm doing but not the details so I need to get my thinking cap on and my sketch pad out so that I can get it done ready to mail on Tuesday! ;)

My next challenge is then to find a post office as I'm working somewhere different at the moment which double the commute which means my local PO closes like an hour before I get back and I dunno where the PO is where I'm working at!!  :-\  I'd usually get Mr Loops to mail the package for me but he's gadding about on Tuesday and then the rest of the week he's probably gonna be working with me in Wales, bah!!

Here we have the hottest day of the year so far :o  Buuuut luckily I hate heat so it's easy for me to stay inside the cool house and craft :)

Started my final item but not very happy with it so far, tempted to start again or rethink it but maybe Mr Loops will have a good idea when he wakes up, and yes it is 6pm here, he's still hungover from a night out last night innit ;)

As for me, I thought I was gonna need a day extra just finish up but I literally just finished a few minutes ago so I'm currently in the box packing stage, yey! :)

Hope my partner likes what I've made her, totally getting anxious already but luckily since it's domestic mail I won't have the long anxiety filled wait that I usually have (since being in the UK pretty much means having to mail internationally 95% of the time obv!) nor the mahoosive shipping cost hopefully! ;D

Buuuuut Super Pupper has volunteered to angel for me sooooo....

THANK YOU PUPPER!!!

My package arrived with 2711 according to Royal Mail on Monday anyways.  And so photos of the goodies I sent to her are on the gallery now!
